1 LEWIS & CLARK TIGER DRAMA

2 Our mission is to service new children coming into the foster care system. Approximately 90 children are taken into the foster care system in the greater Spokane area each month. Most of these children arrive into care with nothing more than the clothing on their backs. We are in constant need of clothes in sizes preemie through 12yrs as well as shoes, pajamas, coats, new socks, new underwear or anything that would help bring a smile to these children's faces! You can donate by bringing your donation directly to the Clothing Perk or contact Stacey and I would be more than happy to pick the donation up. Of course we also take cash and gift card donations this allows us to purchase things like new underwear and socks. Or just spread the word!

16 SYNOPSIS ACT I Out on the open sea, Prince Eric pursues a mysterious voice despite the protests of his guardian, Grimsby ("Fathoms Below"). Far beneath the waves, the crab Sebastian has prepared a concert that features King Triton s youngest child, Ariel ("Daughters of Triton"), but she has snuck up to the surface with her best friend, Flounder. There, they learn about the human treasure she has found from the seagull Scuttle ("Human Stuff"). Meanwhile, the sea witch Ursula and her lackey eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, bemoan their exile and plot to regain power from Triton using Ariel as bait. King Triton scolds Ariel for going to the surface and appoints Sebastian as her chaperone. Ariel retreats to her grotto and dreams of living on land ("Part of Your World"). Upon discovering her collection of human objects, Sebastian extols the virtues of the ocean ("Under the Sea"). Distracted by the shadow of a great ship, Ariel swims to the surface and finds the handsome Prince Eric on board. Suddenly, lightning strikes the ship, sending Prince Eric overboard ("The Storm"). Ariel darts into action and brings the unconscious prince to shore ("Part of Your World Reprise"). Her song wakes Prince Eric, but she has disappeared into the waves. Back underwater, the Mersisters grill Flounder about Ariel s odd behavior ("She's in Love"). Furious about Ariel s contact with a human, King Triton destroys all her precious objects. Flotsam and Jetsam find Ariel in despair and lure her to the sea witch s lair. Ursula offers to change Ariel into a human in exchange for her voice ("Poor Unfortunate Souls"). Prince Eric must kiss her within three days or Ariel will turn back into a mermaid and become Ursula s slave. On the beach, Prince Eric finds Ariel and brings her home to the palace. WHO S WHO IN THE CAST Serena Caryl (Class of 2013) made her stage debut at the age of three and has since appeared in shows at Spokane Civic Theatre, Spokane Children's Theatre, Ignite! Community Theatre, Theater Arts for Children and Spokane Opera. This is her fourth show at LC, after appearing in Hairspray, Legally Blonde, and Zombie Prom. She is in her 13th year of ballet at Sandra Olgard's Studio of Dance. Leslie Cogley (Class of 2015) is appearing in her first LC theatre production. She's been in advanced choirs since elementary school and is currently in two choirs at LC. She is just recently beginning her theatrical career having done a small production for little kids in the summer. She is ecstatic to be in this production of The Little Mermaid and can't wait for future theatre productions! Brie Cole (Class of 2015) is extremely happy to be appearing in her first LC musical! She last appeared in Annie at Spokane Civic Theatre, and The Crucible at LC. She is currently studying dance at Ballet Arts Academy and voice with Ben Bentler. She is looking forward to a great year and a great show! Olivia Cook (Class of 2014) is thrilled to return to the LC stage after previously appearing in Zombie Prom! She recently stage managed for LC s production of The Crucible and has played the clarinet with the LC wind ensemble for the past two years. 17 From screaming to seagull-ing, you light up the stage and make us smile! From backstage percussionist to center stage prince, we are glad you took a chance & tried something new! Congratulations Anna & Brennen We are so proud of you and glad you got to share this experience! We all love you! And thanks to Grammy & Grandad for flying from VA to be part of your world. Will Dubiel, We are so proud! Keep smiling that gorgeous smile! Love, Mom, Dad, Charlotte and Lillian SYNOPSIS ACT II Sebastian follows to protect Ariel but finds himself in jeopardy in Chef Louis s kitchen ("Les Poissons"). Ariel s silence prompts Prince Eric to find other ways to communicate, like dancing ("One Step Closer"), but he is still haunted by the mysterious voice. On the second day, Sebastian calls on lagoon animals to serenade the couple ("Kiss the Girl"), but Flotsam and Jetsam cause a commotion that blocks their kiss. Grimsby arranges a singing contest on the third day to locate the owner of the mysterious voice and thus a bride for Prince Eric. When Ariel breaks through the crowd and dances, Prince Eric realizes how much he loves her and begins to propose. However, the sun sets and the spell is broken, turning Ariel back into a mermaid and drawing her into the sea. Sebastian rushes to warn King Triton, who agrees to hand over his trident and take Ariel s place as Ursula s slave ("Poor Unfortunate Souls Reprise"). When Prince Eric attempts to rescue Ariel, Ursula loses control of her magic shell and Ariel s voice is restored. Trident in hand, Ursula attempts to harness the power of the seas but creates a whirlpool that destroys her and the eels. With peace restored, Ariel returns the trident to her father. King Triton realizes how much Ariel cares for Prince Eric and decides to restore her humanity. He gently deposits her on the shore, and Prince Eric rushes up and proposes. As Ariel answers, Prince Eric realizes that it has been her voice all along ("Part of Your World Finale").

18 DIRECTOR S NOTES The holidays are a time of magic, family and home. This season we are grateful to highlight these themes in each of our main stage productions. We hope you enjoy the production tonight as we endeavor to bring some Disney magic to the holiday season! Many of our fondest childhood memories surround classic Disney animated films and spending time with our families. Whether exploring Disneyland or Disneyworld and meeting classic characters live, or watching the stories come alive on the big screen, the Disney culture had become part of our collective childhood. We hope that tonight's performance will allow you to reflect on special times with your family and find that spark of childhood wonder inside all of us. The cast and crew have spent countless hours working to create Disney magic. The artistic staff and Stagecraft class have explored creative ways to bring an animated film to the stage in such a way that entertains and delights audience members of all ages. The true test of our success in this venture will be seen in the eyes of our youngest audience members. Our entire season is dedicated to home and the strength of family. The Little Mermaid explores how love can make your home beyond the world you know. Our next production, In the Heights, explores how our community becomes our home and how family history can influence our identity. Our final production, The Dining Room, examines how our homes are where lives are molded over generations. Our own Tiger Drama family has grown this year welcoming new members to our artistic family and additional support from our new parent group, STAGE. STAGE (Supporting Theatre Arts Growth & Education) seeks to raise funds and practical assistance to keep LC Tiger Drama running strong for years to come. With the addition of our new parent group, our Tiger Drama family is truly complete.
