The Statue of Liberty is located in New York, in the United States of America. It stands on Liberty Island, in New York Harbour. The statue is a symbol of freedom and democracy. Lady Liberty holds a flaming torch in her right hand. This represents enlightenment. The stone tablet in her left hand commemorates the date of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. Lady Liberty wears a seven-pointed spiked crown. The seven points stand for the seven seas and the seven continents and the broken shackles at her feet represent liberation from oppression.
