1 Singapore 4th Grade Math Worksheet: 4 Whole Numbers Name: Date: Math Word Problem 1 Andy and Adam were sick and tired of having too many cockroaches in their house. They crawled around for two hours last night to catch cockroaches. Andy caught 34 more cockroaches than Adam. Adam cried because he had fewer cockroaches than Andy so Andy gave him 20 cockroaches. Who has more cockroaches now? How many more? Math Word Problem 2 I invited some mermaids to my pool party. In the beginning, there were 53 more mermaids playing water polo than drinking scorpion fish juice. Later 19 mermaids who were playing water polo stopped playing because they were thirsty and began to drink the delicious scorpion fish juice. Were there more mermaids drinking or playing in the end? How many more?
2 Math Word Problem 3 Pirate Percy dived into the sea with his pet dugong. He entered a sea-snake's lair, lopped off the snake's head with his cutlass and stole the jewels in the lair. He gave some of the jewels to his pet dugong so that the dugong had 76 more jewels than he. When he realized that the dugong had more jewels than he, he took 44 jewels back from the dugong. Who has more jewels? How many more? Math Word Problem 4 I invited 2 aliens for dinner. I gave the green alien 89 more fried mice than the red alien because it was fatter. The red alien was outraged. It threw a temper tantrum and broke all my mother's precious plates. In the end, I took 56 fried mice from the generous green alien and gave them to the raging red alien. Who had more fried mice after that? How many more?
3 Math Word Problem 5 Mary baked 214 delicious lizard pies and left them on the dining table. While she was watching television, naughty Ned broke into her house and stole all her pies. He went back home and gave half of his pies to his granny. When his granny began to sob, he gave her a further 26 pies. How many pies did each of them have after that? Math Word Problem 6 My pimply sister squeezed out all the pus from her pimples and made 358 tiny pus cakes with it. She gave the cakes to her math teacher and English teacher on Teacher's Day. However, she had given more pus cakes to her math teacher than her English teacher because she liked him more. Her math teacher was a fair man so he gave 59 pus cakes to the English teacher who was on the verge of tears. After that they had the same number of cakes. How many cakes did each of them have at first?
4 Math Word Problem 7 Stoneman and Stonewoman went troll hunting and bashed 444 ugly trolls on their heads. They took the dead trolls home and divided the trolls between themselves. However, Stoneman ended up with more trolls than Stonewoman. When Stoneman's dad spanked him for being unfair, Stoneman sullenly gave Stonewoman 99 dead trolls. After that, they had an equal number of trolls. How many trolls did each of them have at first? Math Word Problem 8 Shaun Centaur and Solomon Centaur galloped into the jungle to hunt vampires. They had 578 arrows between them. When the centaurs sighted a vampire crossing a river, they realized that Shaun had more arrows than Solomon. Therefore, Shaun gave Solomon 158 arrows thus making it even. How many arrows did each of them have before that?
5 Math Word Problem 9 Superhero Cindy and Superhero Sandy had a total of 90 bright superhero costumes. When Superhero Sandy gave Superhero Cindy 21 costumes, Cindy had 4 times as many costumes as Sandy after that. How many costumes did each of them have at first? Math Word Problem 10 Two bald sisters, Sarah and Clara, had a total of 120 wigs between them. After Clara had given Sarah 49 wigs, Sarah had 3 times as many wigs as Clara. How many wigs did each of them have at first?
6 Math Word Problem 11 Teddy Turtle and Timothy Turtle collected a total of 120 seashells from the beach near their home. The turtles brought the seashells home and divided them between themselves. When Teddy gave Timothy 42 seashells, Timothy had 4 times as many seashells as Teddy. How many seashells did each of them have at first? Math Word Problem 12 My granny caught a total of 315 hippos from a river near our house and gave them to me and my sister. I was happy with the hippos until they began loudly singing nursery rhymes at night. So I gave my sister 108 hippos. After that, my sister had 6 times as many hippos as I. How many hippos did my granny give each of us at first?
7 Math Word Problem 13 The Vikings had a party after they had defeated a dragon. However, a lot of men had died in the battle with the dragon so there were 3 times as many women as men at the party. When it became late, 10 men left to do their Singapore math homework. After that, there were 9 times as many women as men. How many people were there altogether at the party in the beginning? Math Word Problem 14 When I walked into my classroom yesterday, I was shocked to see my math teacher wrestling with some baboons and porcupines. There were 3 times as many porcupines as baboons. When I began biting the baboons, 30 cowardly baboons ran away. After that, there were 12 times as many porcupines as baboons. How many animals were there altogether at first?
8 Math Word Problem 15 When my granny was trekking across a desert, a troll waylaid her. She killed the troll with her sharp tongue and left. Soon some vultures and hyenas gathered around the dead troll and began to tear apart the carcass. There were 4 times as many vultures as hyenas at first. However, when a terrible sandstorm began to blow, 24 hyenas fled with their tails between their legs. After that, there were 12 times as many vultures as hyenas left squabbling over the carcass. How many more vultures than hyenas were there at first? Math Word Problem 16 I taught some starfish and sea urchins to play the guitar. We had an underwater concert last night. There were 5 times as many performing starfish as sea urchins. However, when a school of sharks crashed into our concert, 40 terrified sea urchins rolled away. There were 15 times as many starfish as sea urchins after that? How many more starfish than sea urchins were performing in the end?

If each math book cost $25, how much did he pay for each science book? The demons were all of the same height too. However, the demons were taller than the imps. The total height of the demons and imps was 580 cm. If each imp was 20 cm tall, what was the height of each demon?
