1 Sandy OTA Ambassador The 70 th anniversary fireworks in OTA City Juhasz Sandy (Hungary) Cool OTA-KU Ambassador s Monthly Report 2016/8/ /8/15 Sandy OTA Ambassador I have been visiting OTA City many times before I have became a Cool OTA- KU Ambassador. When the interview was held for ambassador position at the ward office on 14 May, I found a message corner at the entrance hall. At this corner, you could write a message on a piece of paper that was planned to stick on the firework ball. Those balls was used on the fireworks held on 15 August, 2016 celebrating the 70 th anniversary of OTA City! I wrote a message in three languages (Japanese, Hungarian and English) saying: "I LOVE OTA" and stuck it on the ball! The place of the fireworks was near Rokugodote station on the on Keihinkyuko Line. At this event, the ward mayor, Mr. Matsubara announced the name of the OTA City s mascot as Hane Pyon! Fortunately I had a chance to meet and exchange a few words with Mr. Matsubara who I respect very much. The fireworks lasted approximately 45 minutes. I have seen many fireworks in Japan so far but I can say that this was the best in my life. Huge place, close location to the train station, visible spots from everywhere! Wonderful experience overall! 1

2 Toronagashi at Senzokike pond 2016/7/16 Luna Rossa steak house 2016/7/22 Keeping fit at Cruves Magome 2016/7/29 Toronagashi is a Japanese ritual in which paper lanterns called chōchin are floated down a river or on a pond. This lantern festival celebrates the returning of souls to heaven. Tōrō mean lantern in Japanese, while nagashi means cruise or flow. Senzokuike is located just a minute walk from Senzokuike station on the Ikegami Line. I visited there on 16 July after work and watched the ceremony from a bench. There were many Japanese people and some foreigners too. I met 3 Australians who just passed by asking what this ceremony was about. The ritual ended in just 30 minutes. I visited Luna Rossa steak house in Ikegami, OTA City that is also a place for eating champions' food! Yes, I LOVE MEAT! Mr. Hasegawa, the owner of the restaurant usually has holiday on weekday evenings but he made an exception and was there for giving me a warm welcome! I am blessed! Thank you, Mr. Hasegawa for the omotenashi welcome! I popped to Curves Magome on 29 July near Magome station on Asakusa line, and exercised for half an hour. I definitely feel better and fitter since I stated my exercise program at Curves fitness club. As the stuff recommended me, I started to take Curves protein after exercise for even better fitness results. Olympic in OTA I found and interesting place in OTA City! Yes, this is a supermarket called Olympic located near Shimomaruko station on the Tokyu Tamagawa line. 2

3 FOREST MAN at Omorimachi Summer Festival 2016/7/31 I won the design contest with my original design called Forest Man, the green wrestler mask. The award ceremony was held at the Omorimachi Summer Festival on 31 July. The local cable TV interviewed me near the ringside after the ceremony. I met wonderful OTA City residents at the festival. I spoke to a participant at the event who came from Ibaraki Prefecture to Omorimachi Summer Festival to meet Forest Man! Wow! Surprised or not, Forest Man is getting popular outside of the city! 3

4 OTA City, the fighting sports Mecca in Japan 2016/8/7 I photographed an event for eight hours at the ringside of OTA City General Gymnasium. The longest kickboxing event in my photoreporter career. I met Katsuji at the event who is the Lightweight Japan Champion kickboxer and also an OTA City resident! Godzilla booth in OTA I found a Godzilla booth at the OTA City Tourist Information Center. Thanks for this booth, I went to watch the Shin Godzilla movie after that, which I really enjoyed. Monozukuri Fair at International Forum I was at a traditional skills fair called Monozukuri Fair. This event seeks to promote Japan's traditional crafts and cutting-edge manufacturing technology to the world. Guess who I met there? I met Mr. Midorikawa who appeared at Mirai Shutter movie made by OTA City residents. Also I had a chance to take a close look at the bobsleigh for the first time in my life that was made in OTA City. 4

5 Visiting companies in OTA City 2016/7/18 and 8/11 Monthly summary FACEBOOK: Sandy OTA Ambassador There are many unique companies in OTA City. This month I visited two of them. One of them is Night-pager, a creative machine company that can create custom made car parts. Interestingly Mr. Yokota, the company president loves pink color and decided to paint everything pink inside the company including the ceiling, the telephone and the garbage can. The other company that I visited in OTA City is Wedia Limited Company located 10 minutes on foot from Shimomaruko station. I met the company owner, Mr. Morita. Despite of the fact that it was a national holiday in Japan, Mr. Morita extended a warm welcome to me. Wedia is a T-shirt and apparel printing company that offers superior products, services and prices. Mr. Morita gave me an east-tounderstand lecture on printing techniques in front of the T-shirt printer. Later we talked about the details of my original T-shirt that I will design and he will print.
