The holiday break is approaching fast and will be here before you know it. We look forward to seeing you at our Winter Concert on Monday, December 20, 2010, at 10:00 & 2:00 p.m. at the North Ridgeville Education Center. At the Early Childhood Learning Center, Mrs. Dietz s, Ms. Wojnicz s and Miss Fleming s classes will be performing the Gingerbread Man Play at 10:30 & 2:30 p.m., and Miss Jayne s, Ms. Panyard s and Ms. Mercado s classes will be performance a Winter Wonderland at 11:00 & 2:45 p.m. both on December 21, We would ask that you remember to refrain from a lot of movement and talking on your cell phone or to others during performances so that we can respect all the students hard work and effort they put into the concert. Remember if you would like to help with the Kindergarten parties, you must sign up through the PTA. Here is a list of our upcoming events: Early Childhood Learning Center: The report cards went home on November 29, Please call the office if you have not received a report card. Bubble Show Assembly- December 8, 10:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. Winter Wonderland Performance for Miss Jayne, Ms. Panyard & Ms. Mercado December 21, 11:00 a.m. & 2:45 p.m. Gingerbread Man Play for Mrs. Dietz, Miss Fleming & Ms. Wojnicz- December 21, 10:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. Typical Peer screening will be held on Friday, February 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The North Ridgeville Education Center: The report cards went home on November 30, Please call the office if you have not received a report card. 2 PTA Corner A message from the President Selena Kimble Warm Greetings! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I am very thankful for all the volunteers that have helped our PTA! Now it is time to get ready for the holidays I can t believe 2011 is right around the corner! Our PTA Unit Bylaws have been revised and will be posted on line next month so all the members have a chance to review before the January meeting. Members will vote on the revised bylaws at the January meeting and then the bylaws will be sent to the Ohio PTA for final approval. Thank you to the Bylaws Committee for their hard work this revision was overdue! There is still time to join the PTA! We have more volunteer opportunities coming up winter party at NREC, family fun night in January, spring parties and end of the year events. Please join the PTA to support your child and help their school. Finally, I want to remind everyone that there is no December PTA meeting. Instead we will have a Holiday Fun Party on Thursday, December 9 th at Bullfrog s Sports Café on Center Ridge Rd from 7pm- 10pm. Admission is $10 and PTA members will receive a $5 discount. Please join us as we celebrate the holidays with the Lear North PTA. Hope to see you there! I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year! 3 Sign up for e- Communication From the district's website, you can sign up to receive weekly e- Communication. This will provide the district a means to provide timely and cost- effective communication to parents, students and community members. In registering for an account, you have the ability to provide your preferred contact information and set up a customized dashboard of district and/or building news and events specific to your needs. After you've customized your dashboard, each time you log into your account, only the items you've selected will appear. In addition, you can sign up to receive a weekly e- mail communication to include recent news postings and upcoming events of interest to you. You may change your contact information or your news and events selections as your needs change. PANCAKE BREAKFAST w/santa Saturday December 11 th 8am 11am Lear North Elementary Adults $6 Kids $4 Santa will hand out gifts to the first 200 kids. For more info or to purchase tickets call All proceeds go to the 2 mile Exercise Trail and the Dog Park. NREC Winter Party The Winter Party at NREC is in the planning stages. We are looking for volunteers for both AM and PM. The party will be run in the same fashion as the fall party. Marie Browning will be the AM coordinator and Heather Casselberry will be the PM coordinator again for this event. If you are interested in volunteering or you have any cool ideas to share please contact me at: /mboynar@oh.rr.com. The theme for the party will be snowflakes/snowmen. Remember - this is a PTA event so you need to be signed up to volunteer to attend the party. Thank you, Michele Boynar NREC needs Donations New underwear (size 5 or 6 for boys and girls) and old jeans/sweatpants for children who need a change of clothes if they have an accident while at school. 4 North Ridgeville Branch Library Programs Holiday on the Ridge, Cookie Swap and Santa Clause Movie Day Saturday, December 4 at 2pm Families are invited to make two dozen cookies and bring them in for a cookie swap. Enjoy the movie and don't forget your pajamas, blanket and pillow. Refreshments will be provided. Noon Year's Eve Celebration Friday, December 31 at 11:30am to 12:30pm Families are welcome to celebrate the New Year early with their kids. Bring in 2011 with activities, music, Wii bowling and a ball drop and countdown at NOON. Preregistration is required. 5 Selena Kimble called the meeting to order at 7:01pm. NREC/ECLC PTA Meeting Minutes November 16, 2010 Board members present are Selena Kimble, Sarah Miller, Michelle Boynar, Nealah Mercado, Courtney Dunfee, and Natalie DeRosha. Reading and Approval of minutes: Marie Browning motioned to approve and pass on the reading of the minutes, it was second by Tiffany McMahon. Treasurer's Report: Sarah Miller is present and reports we have brought in $335 this month and sent out $1371. We have $ balance on hand. Correspondence Report: Courtney Dunfee is present and reports we have a thank you from Mrs. Gee for teacher grant and the meal provided, thank you on behalf of ECLC for the conference meal provided, thanks you from Mrs. Jennings for teacher grant and thank you from Mrs Kovach for the meal and extra treat bags. Anyone needing thank you notes sent out should let Courtney know. Tiffany McMahon requested we send thank yous to Matt at Theresa's Pizza. Principal's Report: Andrea Vance is present and reports the fall party was a success and thank you for all the treat bag donations. A reminder that the weather is changing and the children need to be in hats, coats and gloves. There will upcoming Holiday parties, the ECLC party will be a performance not really a party and the NREC party will be just like the fall party. NREC will have a winter concert in December at the school during school hours. A family will soon be picked to help out for Christmas this year. Staff Report: Nealah Mercado is present and reports the PTA will be proving a book for ECLC children for the Holiday. President's Report: Selena Kimble is present and reports the Bylaws Committee met and they were revised and updated. They will be posted in the January newsletter and voted in at the next meeting. Thank you for all the help with the fall party and just a reminder that you must be in the PTA and signed up to help to attend the party. NREC is child only party whereas ECLC is more family oriented. Committee Reports Art Reflections: Selena Kimble reports that help will be needed for matting. Looking for volunteers. Campbells/Box Tops: Natalie DeRosha reports that we raised over $350 between both schools for our first submission to Box Tops. NREC's winner for October was Mrs. Bublinec's class and will receive a popcorn and movie party. Tiffany McMahon reports the winner at ECLC was and they received play-doh. Community Service: The Thanksgiving food drive is underway and doing well. Ways& Means: Selena Kimble reports the Tupperware fundraiser ended yesterday and delivery will be at the Ed Center. Market Day: Selena Kimble reports it is doing well and that more information will be sent out to parents to hopefully improve orders. Membership: Selena Kimble reports we are doing very well and have about 138 members to date. Room Party Coordinator: Michelle Boynar reports she ordered books for ECLC for the holiday and Tiffany McMahon will be getting labels for them. Looking for volunteers to help with the party at NREC and plan stations. Staff Appreciation: Tiffany McMahon reports she is working on a few surprises for the staff. New Business *Appreciation drawing for the Fall Party Volunteers: Winners are drawn and they are: Lisa Breen, Becky Clark, Charlotte Worcester, Judy Vanover, Tara Margolin *Selena Reports that Linda (NREC) is in need of clothes for accidents at school, looking for new 5/6 underwear, pants and shirts that are gentley used and size appropriate for kindergarten. *NREC/ECLC member party will Bullfrogs. Adult only. PTA members arew $5, nonmembers are $10 or may join the PTA for $5 and pay $5 entrance fee.
