4 SOCIAL MEDIA The Rolesville High School Cheerleading Program recognizes and supports the student-athletes rights to freedom of speech, expression, and association, including the use of social networks. In this context, however, each student-athlete must remember that playing and competing for The Rolesville High School Cheerleading is a privilege. As a student-athlete, you represent Rolesville High School, Wake county School District and the community and Town of Rolesville and you are expected to portray yourself, your team, and the School District in a positive manner at all times. Guidelines for social networking site usage: Everything you post is public information any text or photo placed online is completely out of your control the moment it is placed online even if you limit access to your site. The information you post on a social networking site is considered public information. Information (including pictures, videos, and comments) may be accessible even after you remove it. Once you post a photo or comment on a social networking site, that photo or comment becomes the property of the site and may be searchable even after you remove it. What you post may affect your future. Many employers and college admissions officers and coaches review social networking sites as part of their overall evaluation of an applicant. You must at all times carefully consider how you want people to perceive you before you give them a chance to misinterpret your information (including pictures, videos, comments, and posters). Protect yourself by maintaining a self-image of which you can be proud for years to come. Rolesville High School Cheerleading Program will not tolerate disrespectful comments and behavior online, such as:- Derogatory language or remarks that may harm teammates or coaches; other student athletes, teachers, or coaches; and student-athletes, coaches, or representatives of other schools, including comments that may disrespect our opponents.- Rolesville High School Cheerleading Program will not tolerate incriminating or inappropriate photos or statements depicting violence; hazing; sexual harassment; full or partial nudity; inappropriate gestures; vandalism, stalking; underage drinking, selling, possessing, or using controlled substances; or any other inappropriate or illegal behaviors Rolesville High School Cheerleading Program will not tolerate you creating a serious danger to the safety of another person or making a credible threat of serious physical or emotional injury to another person Rolesville High School Cheerleading Program will not tolerate you indicating knowledge of an unreported school or team violation, regardless if the violation was unintentional or intentional. SEASONAL TRYOUTS ONLY ONE TRYOUT WILL BE INSTITUTED THIS SEASON. ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO CHEER THE ENTIRE SEASON FOR FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL. ANY ATHLETE WHO CHOOSES TO QUIT DURING THE SEASON FOR ANY REASON WILL BE INELIGIBLE TO TRY OUT FOR THE NEXT YEAR S TRYOUT AND THAT YEAR S STUNT TEAM. OUR GOAL IS TO COMPETE IN AT LEAST ONE COMPETITION THIS YEAR. STUNT SEASON WILL HAVE A SEPARATE TRYOUT IN THE SPRING. TRANSPORTATION ATHLETES MUST USE WCPSS TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM AWAY GAMES. UNLESS A PARENT IS PRESENT TO CHECK YOU OUT FOR A RIDE HOME. IF NO PARENT IS PRESENT YOU MUST RIDE THE BUS BACK TO SCHOOL. NO CHEERLEADERS ARE ALLOWED TO RIDE HOME WITH BOYFRIENDS, FRIENDS, OR FELLOW CHEERLEADERS. MISCELLANEOUS ALL CHEER PRACTICES ARE CLOSED! LETTERING/ AWARDS LETTERING IS BASED ON THESE EXPECTATIONS. AT THE END OF THE SEASON AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT ACCORDING TO THESE GUIDELINES. IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR TEAM YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO LETTER OR RECEIVE AWARDS AT THE END OF THE SEASON. AWARDS AND CAPTAIN'S ARE NOT BASED ON SENIORITY. NO VIDEOTAPING OR PICTURES ARE ALLOWED WITHOUT THE DISCRETION OF THE COACH. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE YOUR PHONES AND SHOULD BE PUT AWAY OUT OF SIGHT. *** CHEERLEADERS PARTICIPATION IN OTHER SPORTS WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COACH BASED ON ACADEMICS AND PARENTAL DISCUSSION. AN ADDITIONAL CONTRACT WILL ALSO NEED TO BE SIGNED AND RE- TURNED TO SOLIDIFY YOU COMMITMENT TO IMPORTANT EVENTS OR PERFORMANCES. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REALIZE HIS OR HER OWN LIMITATIONS. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO PREPARE FOR AN EVENT AND THEN HAVE ATHLETES NOT SHOW UP.
5 Coaches Note WE AM EXTREMELY EAGER ABOUT WORKING WITH EACH OF YOU. READING ALL OF THESE EXPECTATIONS SOUND OVERWHELMING BUT ARE THE KEY IN HAVING A FUN, SUCCESSFUL, PRODUCTIVE, AND ORGA- NIZED SEASON. CHEERLEADING IS NOT EASY. IT TAKES A LOT OF HARD WORK, SELF-DISCIPLINE, AND COMMITMENT TO BE A GOOD SQUAD. HOWEVER, MAINTAINING YOUR COMMITMENT THROUGHOUT THE SEA- SON IS VITAL. BREACH OF THIS SIGNED CONTRACT WILL CAUSE YOU TO BE PENALIZED, AS THE COACH FIND NECESSARY. EACH CHEERLEADER MUST ALSO KNOW AND FOLLOW ALL RULES LISTED IN THE SCHOOL, STATE, AND COUNTY HANDBOOK. PLEASE SIGN AT THE NECESSARY AREAS IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THIS DEMANDING COMMITMENT. NO CHEERLEADER IS PERMITTED TO CHEER UNLESS THIS CONTRACT IS SIGNED AND RETURNED TO ME. GOOD LUCK!!! Team Commitment Pledge has our/my permission to participate the RHS Cheerleading Squad. We have reviewed all the requirements and team policies. We fully understand the yearlong commitment our family is making. We have also reviewed the list of anticipated expenses and are aware of the financial obligation we must assume. If selected, we agree to adhere to the Rolesville High School Cheerleading rules and regulations and those of the WCPSS. (Parent signature/date) (Student/date)
