Introduction GymScoreLite-WAG is an Excel based program to help gymnastic clubs run inter-club meets for women's artistic gymnastics. Many common tasks have been automated making GSL a parent-friendly tool to assist with meet preparations and with results. Easily enter the list of competitors or import them from other Excel files. Up to 999 gymnasts are allowed. All sessions are now recorded in one file to simplify overall setup and changes to gymnasts' categories etc. GSL adapts to your type of competition: FIG, Junior Olympic, or Achievement GSL is designed for quick entry of scores after each rotation. - An option allows you to check calculations on the judging score form quickly. Many different reports are easily created, often with just one button to click... - Roster of gymnasts for each session - can be used as handouts or program inserts - Order of competitors for each session Just click to copy groups to other rotations and do 'drop down' in the order on successive rotations Enter scores quickly and easily here too. Also optionally check calculations on the judging sheet. - Large display ID numbers for showing with scores to the audience - Judging forms for each event and rotation with gymnasts listed in competitive order Also judging chits, with gymnasts' names, events, etc and in competitive order Headings will change as needed (ex Diff or S.V.) - RESULTS (of course) All Around summary: shows Difficulty (or Start Values), Final Scores, and Ranks with all gymnasts Ties are clearly marked; Both FIG method and 'No Skip' method of handling ties possible. Event Winners summary: Lists the best N gymnasts per event Useful for awards crew and announcer as well as coaches Team results: generated with a single click, use best N scores per event or best AA scores Achievement meets show scores and ribbons/medals earned but no rankings; several custom award levels are built-in. Souvenir certificates - for each gymnast showing just her own results. - The Statistics report shows the overall number of gymnasts in each club, category and session. An optional report will list all medalists in the entire competition, useful for archival purposes. 4 1 Before the Competition (2-3 weeks) 1.1 Enter General Information About the Meet Use this sheet to enter the titles that will appear on the reports. You also can select an image of your choice for a meet logo; it also will appear on reports to brand your club on reports. Finally, describe the various sessions including the general time and scoring method. The scoring type allows you to select FIG, Junior Olympic, or Achievement type of competition. FIG: Enter difficulty and execution deductions to get the final score. JO, SV-Exec: Enter Start Value and execution deductions to get the final score. JO, Final Scores: Only final scores of judges are entered. (Used in Sask in 2016) Achievement: Enter start Values (optional) and final scores of gymnasts. (Awards will be ribbons based on reaching score limits.) Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 4 of 33

The day and time columns should have reference info for the session that will appear on various reports to help keep track of them. During the meet later on, select the current session (shown in blue text & highlighted) by double-clicking on the desired session's description. Related sheets for the Order of Passage and results will appear automatically. Select those tabs along the bottom as needed. Note: The session #s shown on the left side of the descriptions will appear on most reports for easy reference; there is no need to enter "Session X". The year of the competition should be set as well; it is 2016 in the example shown on the previous page. This will be used for historical reference on reports and to calculate gymnast ages later based on their year of birth. The 'Title Line 2' field is usually "Women's Artistic Gymnastics" which seems obvious to us but is useful when sending results to the media who may not be as knowledgeable about our sport. Another use for this line might be to recognize a major sponsor of the competition. Having a club or meet logo will help "brand' your club and the competition to become more recognizable. You can import any JPG, GIF or PNG image; it will be scaled to fit the given area and then copied automatically to all the reports. The recommend size is 4.5" wide by 2.25" tall but others work as well. If you have a larger sized image, then the scaled version should appear more sharply here. 6 1.2 Enter Information About Gymnasts Get a list of the registered gymnasts from your meet director or judging co-ordinator. This likely will be an Excel file. Ensure that it has the same fields as the GSL program for easy copying and insertion into the GSL program's 'Gymnast Info' sheet. ('Plan B' would be to type the information yourself. Ugh.) It's convenient to sort this information by category before assigning session numbers. Gymnast ID numbers also need to be entered; I suggest having a continuous set of numbers per session if possible. ex 101, 102, 103, 104,... for session 1; 201,202, 203, 204,... for session 2; etc. Should a gymnast scratch before the meet, change her category to 'Scratch', make the ID # negative, and record the reason if known in the comment column for reference. This is preferred compared to erasing her information and is good for referral later. Notes: Do not unprotect the sheet to delete or add any rows; doing so would possibly change some hidden formulas and lead to unpredictable effects. Do not use the normal 'Copy & Paste' method to move information here from another sheet as that will change the formatting too. Instead, use Copy and then Paste Special with the 'Values only' option. If you should happen to do that; there is a 'Restore Formatting' button now (2016). Clubs in Sask using the GSL-registration Excel file have a button to help copy the data from each' club's registration form. 7 Once all the gymnasts have been entered here, there is a bit of work to be done. Note: Clicking the red arrows above the columns will sort the entire list by that column. This can be useful to check all the gymnasts within a club or to arrange them by categories for placement into sessions. It's recommended now to sort by category to ensure there aren't any accidental typings of category names (ex 'JO-2' by one club and 'JO 2' by another club, etc). If so, make them all the same; copy and paste the correct category names. Decide which categories of gymnasts are to be in each session. Your meet director can help you with this. Most sessions will have between 20 and 40 gymnasts but more are possible if needed. Enter the appropriate session numbers for each gymnast; Excel's 'Fill Down' method can help here.. Also enter the ID#s for each gymnast. As mentioned earlier, I recommend starting with 101, 201, 301, etc for the various sessions (if there are 9 of fewer sessions). If the gymnasts have been sorted by sessions, then just enter the first 2 ID#s per session and use Excel's Copy Down method to generate the remaining numbers quickly. Other schemes are possible too of course; use the one that fits your needs. 1.3 Save Your Work and Make a Backup Copy Be sure to save the file at regular time intervals. Give the file a useful name such as "Dogpatch Invit 2016" rather than the original GymScoreLite file name. It's also recommended to make backup copies at significant times too with a suffix number. (now, after each session, etc.) ex Dogpatch-Bkup-1 Dogpatch-Bkup-2 Dogpatch-Bkup-3 etc I also tend to copy those backups onto a memory stick, just in case the computer's hard disk drive fails. If that were to happen, then another computer could be used with the last saved file from the memory stick. 8 1.4 See Statistics Select the 'Statistics' tab to see how many are registered per club, category and session. This can serve as a double-check that no one was accidentally omitted. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 8 of 33

2 Shortly Before the Meet (2-3 Days) 2.1 Update Registrations There may be late entries, scratches, name spelling corrections, or category changes for some gymnasts. Be sure the 'Gymnast Info' sheet has all these corrections. 2.2 Prepare Programme Inserts Most clubs have a programme that is sold to the audience with information about the meet, the club, meet committee, judges, sponsors, etc. There often is a list of clubs with their coaches and gymnasts too. Frequently, the details about the gymnasts (ID #s especially) are not known when its time to print the programme. Another approach omits the gymnasts list from the programme and uses GSL to prepare an up-to-date list of athletes for each session along with room for parents to write the scores while they watch. Do this the day prior to the meet. Make Xerox copies to distribute (or sell) as needed. It's not expensive and will help improve the audience experience as well as promote the meet and your club. Extra space on the page can be used for a major sponsor's ad, etc. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 9 of 33

2.3 Prepare the Order of Passage (OOP) for Each Session The OOP_XX sheets are the heart of the GymScoreLite program as most of your work is done here. The first step is to assign the gymnasts to their starting groups. Typically gymnasts from a club are kept in the same group for convenience of coaches. Clicking a button will copy the groups in the first rotation into other rotations on the successive apparatus and adjust the order within a group so different athletes go first each time. Print a copy of the OOP sheet for each session. Then duplicate copies for use by the coaches, judges, announcer, music person, etc. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 10 of 33

The judging coordinator and/or meet director will indicate who is to be in each group and their initial competitive order. Enter their ID #s into the first column of each group on rotation 1. The name and club of each gymnast will appear automatically. Tip: When there are two clubs within a group, consider alternating the order between the clubs so that the coaches have a little more 'comfort time' with their gymnasts rather than being rushed with their next athlete. Don't worry about any spelling errors of names at this time. If you notice a mistake, make the correction on the 'Gymnast Info' sheet; that correction will appear automatically on the OOP and other sheets automatically. Tip: Most sheets have a 'Show Help' button near the top-left corner. Click on it to see additional features and tips. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 11 of 33

2.4 Setup the OOP Layout The default for OOP sheets is to have 4 groups with up to 10 gymnasts per group and for the groups to advance to the next event per rotation in FIG order. (Vault --> Bars --> Beam --> Floor -->...) Select the 'Session Setup' sheet to adjust the rotation order, number of groups (up to 6) and group size (up to 15). Once the desired changes are selected, click the 'Prepare OOP Sheet' button to modify the actual OOP sheet associated with the session. The session title for the OOP sheet is also setup. Note: You should do this for each session in your meet as part of your early preparations. Time saver tip: Use the 'Session-Setup' sheet to make the results sheets for each category in the indicated session, with its gymnasts already listed. Team results sheets listing each club are also made from here. More about this later. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 12 of 33

Scores won't appear on result pages of course until they have been entered on the OOP sheet after each rotation during the session. More about that later. (See section 3.1) 2.5 Print the Large ID Numbers Large ID numbers are used by the score flasher volunteer to identify whose score is being shown to the audience after each routine finishes. Click the 'Print Big Numbers' button near the top to print each gymnast's ID number in large digits, one gymnast per page. They are printed in competitive order for each group on the first rotation. After each rotation, the score flasher takes them to the next apparatus. Tips: Use a paper clip on each pack or group of ID numbers. Avoid stapling as they may end up on the gym floor later where a gymnast might step on one. Give the packs to the Head Judge along with the judging score sheets and chits just before the warmup starts for a session. Wrap the whole package in elastics or even better, place then in a large clear zip-lock bag to store until needed. 14 2.6 Print Judging Score Pages Select the 'Judging Sheets' tab along the bottom; gymnasts from the current session are shown. (Go to the "Meet Info" sheet to change sessions.) The judging form will be filled in automatically for the given apparatus and rotation. Use the buttons at the top to print all the judging sheets for the session. Normally, one click is all that is needed per session. Check that the printed sheets for each apparatus are in order by rotations and use a paper clip to keep each event's sheets together. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 14 of 33

The layout and some headings of the judging sheet will be modified automatically for FIG, Junior Olympic or achievement meets, as indicated on the 'Meet & Session Info' sheet earlier for each session. If needed, the judging sheets for just one event can be printed rather than for all events. (Once, they were lost somehow for Beam during the warmup time; it's easier now to recover from those problems.) When sample sheets are needed to help train volunteer recorders, use the normal 'Print' command to get just the currently visible sheet. Note that these may be different for various types of scoring (FIG, JO, etc.); choose the type appropriate for the session that the volunteers are preparing for. Vaulting score sheets will have room to record two vaults and show the better score of the two vaults. Most importantly, one judging sheet is made per group and event on the OOP sheet. The gymnasts will be listed in the same order for both. This means that when the completed judges' sheets are returned after a rotation, it will be easy to enter the scores on the OOP sheet. (More about that later.) Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 15 of 33

2.7 Print the Judges' Chits In "traditional" meets (before electronic scoring units, etc.), the judges wrote their scores on small slips of paper (chits). Then the chits were collected and the recording secretary wrote them onto the judging score sheet and worked out the average, under the supervision of the event's head judge. If the judges' score were all in range, the final score and gymnast's ID number would then be flashed to the audience and the next gymnast would be called up to perform. A sample sheet of chits for 1 gymnast is shown on the next page. GymScoreLite can create the chits easily with the event name, rotation & order, and gymnast # & name preprinted on them. Previously, judges had to do this themselves. Now they can have more time to watch the warmups and, as a side effect, the secretary need not worry about poor handwriting. Method for printing: 1. Go to the "OOP" sheet with the Order of Passage. 2. Highlight the ID #s for a group (1 event & rotation). 3. Click on the "Print Judging Chits" button. 4. Staple the group of chits. 5. Repeat for each event and rotation. Notes: 1. One sheet of paper is printed per gymnast per event. It has 6 chits: D-score (or SV), and 4 judges' chits. 2. Women's vaulting will have 2 sheets/gymnast, 1 per vault. 3. Pages of chits are printed in the competitive order shown on the OOP sheet. The sheets can then be stapled together (6 staples, one per chit) and sliced into small booklets for the judges Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 16 of 33

Sample of Judges' Chits Staple the pages for the group at red marks. Slice stapled sets along the blue lines to form booklets for judges on the event. Repeat for the other rotations in this event. Wrap an elastic around the booklets for each judge on this event and keep them with the event's judging score sheet. Repeat for each event. Yes, it's a time-consuming pre-competition job but it does make the meet itself run more smoothly. Notes: Have a good stapler that could feasibly go through sheets of paper (ie a group of 12 gymnasts on vault in the worst case). The Staples brand "One- Touch" larger stapler has worked well for me and rarely jams. Similarly, have a good paper cutter that can slice sheets with ease. Smaller ones do not work well with thick packets. Test yours well ahead of the competition. Printing chits and assembling them in booklets is a time-consuming task. Check with your chief judge for the meet; maybe she has only 2 or 3 judges per event and they can dictate scores to the secretary rather than writing them on chits. Then this job is eliminated for you. Yay 2.8 Save your File Make a new backup copy. You've been doing that after each stage, haven't you? Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 17 of 33

3 During the Meet... Now the rush starts, sort of. Work is done in spurts as scores are entered and checked after each rotation. After that, results are sorted by events for awards and an All Around summary is made for coaches and parents. Save the file again, perhaps after each rotation or after each sheet of scores is entered. Make a backup regularly. 3.1 Enter Scores After Each Rotation In GSL, only the FIG difficulty (D-score) or JO start value (SV) and final score are entered for each gymnast on each event. Go to the OOP sheet for the session and click on the 'Show Scores' button. The clubs in each group are replaced with cells where the Difficulty and Final scores will be entered. This will proceed quickly as the judging forms list the gymnasts in the same order as in these groups on the OOP sheet. Verification: Enter the 2 scores per gymnast first. Then check all the Diff scores vertically before checking each of the Final Scores. Two people working together are best for speed and accuracy. One reads scores from the Judging sheet while the other types. Then reverse that for proofreading. Scratches: Enter "Scr" for the difficulty or Start Value and leave the final score blank. For high level Junior Olympic sessions, the difficulty column changes to SV (Start Value) and will allow 2 decimal places. Judges can deduct 1/2 of a tenth so a score of 8.65 is possible, but not 8.66, for a Start Value. FIG Difficulty scores are always in tenths. 19 3.2 Checking Calculations on a Judges' Score Sheet NEW You have the option to check the calculations on the judges' score sheet if desired. This ensures no recorder errors slip through but takes a little extra time. To start, right-click (WIN) on the gymnast's ID number in the corresponding group on the OOP sheet. A dialog box will appear allowing you to enter the scores; calculations are done automatically. (Note: Use command click if working on a Mac. - If the final score is ok, click the 'Accept' button(or press 'return' key) to transfer the data to the OOP sheet and advance to the next gymnast. - If not ok, you should check with the event's head judge & secretary. DO NOT CHANGE A SCORE WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. Tips: Press the 'Tab' key to advance from cell to cell. Press the 'Return' key at anytime to accept the scores and transfer scores to the OOP sheet. Click the 'Scratch' button when a gymnast does not perform a routine. Click the 'Done' button after the last gymnast. Remember to save your file and store the judges' score sheet for easy access in case the judges want to see it again. For vault, two sets of scores are shown and the better final score and corresponding SV score will be stored. The scoring method defaults to the selected type from the 'Meet Session' sheet for the session. Change it as needed if there is more than one type in a session (ie both FIG and JO groups). Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 19 of 33

3.4 Create and Print the All Around Results Report(s) As mentioned earlier, the results report for each category in a session is easily generated with a button click on the 'Session Setup' sheet. Be sure the correct session is selected and then click on the 'Make Results Sheets' button at the top. Scores and ranks will appear automatically during the meet later on. Labels for 'SV' or 'DIFF' will change to reflect the type of competition (Junior Olympic, FIG, etc.) Mistakes occur occasionally and it's a shame when incorrect medals are presented. Please double check that all scores are entered and verified. Also, it is recommended that coaches be given a copy of the AA Results as quickly as possible; they are the best proofreaders for their own gymnasts at least. Ask them to double check for accuracy. Be sure to click the red arrow to sort by AA scores before printing. You will notice the meet logo and headings from the Meet Setup' sheet appear automatically here as do the gymnasts, scores and ranks for each category. Later, while awards are being presented, additional copies can be made for clubs, parents, media, etc. Repeat this for each category in the session. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 20 of 33

3.3 Print the Event Winners Report(s) While coaches are checking scores (allow 5-10 minutes), print two copies of the list of event winners; one copy for the awards presentation crew and the other for the announcer. This report will have one sheet per event in a category so that the awards crew can prepare each set of awards simultaneously. The top gymnasts on each event are listed from 1st place onwards and ties are clearly listed. Hopefully no mistakes were found by the coaches and awards presentation can begin soon. This shows a sample of the event winners for the top 3 places on two events. Any number of places can be selected but 8 is common. Repeat this for each category in the current session. Optional use: This could also be used to list finalists on each event where appropriate. In that case, unprotect the sheet, change the "Event Winners" title on Vault to "List of Finalists" before printing. And... save the file. Duh. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 21 of 33

3.5 How To Switch Sessions OOP and Results sheets for only one session are shown at any given time to minimize accidental confusion. Go to the 'Meet & Session Info' sheet to select the current session: just double-click on the description of the desired session. The corresponding OOP sheet will become active as will any of category's results sheets for this session. Names for result sheets start with a 2-digit session number followed the category's abbreviation. Their tabs along the bottom of the Excel window will be a light green colour for easier recognition. Sample: This will also set the session for the audience 'Programme Insert' sheet and the 'Judging Sheets' page. Note: The tabs show the names of various categories in the sessions as indicated on the 'Gymnasts Info' sheet. These names are also used as filenames when creating PDF files of the results. So, be sure the category names are accurate on the 'Gymnasts Info' sheet. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 22 of 33

3.6 Results With Achievement Standards: JO-1, JO-2, etc. Several provinces have beginner level competitions where gymnasts receive ribbons or medals for reaching certain score levels. No ranks are shown as the intent is to reward routines that are done well, not the fact that one gymnast is 'better' than another. This also applies to Junior Olympic levels 1-2 (or 3) where compulsories are performed. GymScoreLite can produce such results easily. a) Select the 'Achievement' type of meet for the session on the 'Meet & Session Info' sheet. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 23 of 33

b) During the meet, enter just the scores. Often the SV column is left blank. Or, if the province requests it, enter the start value as needed. c) The category results sheet will show the score and award achieved. No rankings are generated. (See sample on the next page.) Do NOT it sort it by scores later. Sorting by clubs is suggested for coaches' convenience and presentations. Use this report for the announcer to present ribbons, Make copies only for coaches. Do not distribute it generally or to the media. Results can be made without scores; click the 'Hide Scores' button at the top on the right side. NOTE: You may need to set or change the standards to be used for your awards. The recommended JO standard limits are built into the program but they can be edited as needed. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 24 of 33

Distribute these results to the coaches only. Do not give to gymnasts, parents or media. Do not publish on the web either. d) Print the individual souvenir certificates for each gymnast so she has a personal record of what she achieved. These can be made quickly and presented along with her ribbons and medals. (See section 3.7.) Besides being good souvenirs, they help promote your club and meet especially if the club & meet logos are included.. Also, since only one gymnast's score are shown, it does not 'compare' her results with another gymnast's. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 25 of 33

3.7 Personal Souvenir Certificates Some clubs may want to give personalized souvenir certificates to every participant? (It's also a good way to promote your club & the meet.) GymScoreLite allows you to do this easily and quickly with the added bonus of the gymnast's results being printed on her certificate. Gymnasts can save them in scrapbooks if desired. Sample: Tip: Having coloured stock or heavier paper makes these more durable and attractive. The bottom row for ranks changes to show the ribbon or medal in meets with achievement standards. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 26 of 33

3.8 Create Team Lists and Results GymScoreLite can automatically create team lists for each club in a session and provide a summary of the overall team scores. Begin by clicking the 'Make a Teams Sheet' button on the 'Session Setup' sheet. This will create a new worksheet that has 2 parts: the team score summary at the top followed by each team's details. The top section shows each team's name and their final overall scores. Options along the top allow you to specify how many scores per event (or AA) contribute to the team totals and whether to calculate with the best event scores or All Around scores. Use this section of the report for the announcer and awards crew. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 27 of 33

The lower part lists each team showing its gymnasts and their scores. Scores that are not included in the team's total have a grey background for easy reference as seen for this sample team (with top 4 scores per event contributing). Make a copy of this for the club coaches for their reference. Notes: Clubs cannot have more than 16 gymnasts per team. If there are more, rename some. ex "XYZ-1" and "XYZ-2". This method could also be used to have two smaller sized teams from the same club in a session. If there is a limit to how many gymnasts constitute a team, you may have to erase a gymnast's ID # when there are too many from a club. Check with the coach before the meet starts to see who the official team members are. Normally awards are not made to teams with fewer gymnasts than the # of counting scores. Check for that and if needed, erase those team names from the Summary section at the top of the sheet. Sort again by clicking the red arrow. Team details are printed one team per page for convenient distribution to clubs. Jan 20, 2015: The now is an option when printing to print just the summary, the summary and team detail one team per sheet, or the summary and team details in a condensed layout with several teams per sheet. Not all club meets have team competitions. This can not be used for teams with gymnasts from two or more sessions. 29 4 Frequently Asked Questions & Answers 4.1 What does GymScoreLite cost? You may download GSL for free. We see it as 'honour-ware'; if you find it to be an asset for your meet planning and results, donations are appreciated. Think: how much work did we save? Common donations in the past were about $20/session. These donations help support development of the Gym-Score-Depot.ca projects such as this and other programs. 4.2 Does GSL post results on the web automatically? No but it is easy to create a PDF file of a category's results; that in turn can be uploaded to your website as needed. If you want the results posted on a page at Gym-Score-Depot.ca, please contact me: stu@gym-score-depot.ca 4.3 How can a gymnast be scratched? On the 'Gymnast Info' sheet, change her ID # to a negative (-211 instead of 211). Add a comment with the date and reason. Do not try to delete that row in the list of gymnasts. If the 'Results' sheet has already been made and the gymnast appears there, just erase her ID #. You may also need to erase her ID # from the OOP sheet for the session and re-do the groups & drop down changes. 4.4 Can I make a combined 'Results' sheet using gymnasts from more than 1 session? (Ex. P2-Argo in session 3 plus P2-Tyro & Open in session 4) Nope - Typically they would have different judges, etc. 'Results' sheets obtain their scores from a single OOP session. 4.5 Is there a similar program for men's results? Similar-Yes; the same-no. GymScoreLite for MAG is the same as It includes Gym Canada's MAG's Physical Ability option. It does not handle the entire meet in one spreadsheet as the WAG version does. One copy of the GSL-MAG spreadsheet is needed for each MAG session. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 29 of 33

4.6 What can't be done with GymScoreLite (GSL)? See the introduction on page 2 for a list of GymScoreLite (GSL)'s features. But... GSL does not add scores for gymnasts that compete in two sessions. (ie 2 trials on different days; ) GSL does not combine scores of gymnasts in two sessions. (ie Level 6 Under 10 and Level 6 11 & over in different sessions) GSL does not tabulate results for Trampoline & Tumbling or for Rhythmic gymnastics. Contact me if you really, really need these options. 4.7 Does GSL work with Windows or Macintosh systems? What other equipment is needed? Yes, GSL works with both Windows PC and Macintosh computers although it has not been rigorously tested on on all combinations of systems and hardware. You should have Excel 10 on Windows or Excel 11 on Macintosh for best results. Recently, reports of problems with Excel 360 for Mac have been made. For the time being, avoid that. *** A laser printer will be faster, cheaper and less prone to smudging than an ink-jet printer. A large paper cutter and a heavy-duty stapler are recommended for making packages of judging chits more easily. A memory stick is recommended to store backup copies of your file during the meet after each session. 4.8 Can I practice using GSL? Yes. First, make a copy of the program and use that for learning and practice. There are buttons to create sample data for meet titles, sessions, gymnasts and rotation groups. Use that or your own data. Then explore the many features of GSL. Generally use the tabs along the bottom of the window from left to right. Most sheets also have a help button to help explain some some of its options. You should also have a trial run with the same equipment computer and printer that will be used during the meet to ensure there are no unexpected compatibility problems, especially with printer drivers, Excel versions, etc. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 30 of 33

4.9 How can we quickly fix the wrong category for a gymnast? Suppose Jane Doe is registered as P2-Argo but really should be P2-Tyro and the meet is almost over. a) Go to the 'Gymnast Info' sheet and update her category. b) Go to the 'Session Setup' sheet and click on the 'Make Result Sheets for each category' button. - This will update all the result sheets in the session with the new list of gymnasts; you don't have to delete the old result sheets. Or you could erase her ID # on the incorrect results page and type it on the proper category's page. Scores will appear automatically, with ranks. Be sure to sort by the AA scores again of course. - The same approach changing ID #s applies to updating team lists if needed On the OOP Sheet, I hid the blank rows. How can I make more room for a late entry? Go to the 'Session-Setup' sheet and set the number of gymnasts per group as needed. Then click on the 'Update OOP Sheet' button. The OOP sheet will be adjusted accordingly; previous information is not lost How can ensure that my club gets a bonus? Cheat. Enter different scores than submitted. Be ready to be hung, drawn & quartered. (LOL) This is another reason why having 2 persons working on data entry is strongly recommended and why the original score sheets and chits with judges' scores should not be thrown away until well after the meet What is the best way to record a gymnast's score that scratches an event? 'Scr' should be entered for the Difficulty or Start Value. Leave the actual score blank. For vault, it is possible to get a true zero (ex. not landing on feet); in that case, enter "0" for the Difficulty or Start Value. In both cases, do not enter an actual start value or difficulty, regardless of what is shown on the judges' score form. When the session is over, review the AA Result report(s) to see if any scores are accidentally missing (blank Diff or SV). If so, return to the 'OOP' sheet to fix any missing scores. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 31 of 33

4.13 When will a multi-computer, online version of GymScoreLite be available? Probably never. I have only limited resources for developing and testing the program. Besides, I'm retired and getting a 'bit' older. An original primary goal of GSL was to provide a simple, comprehensive, inexpensive, and parent-friendly program for clubs with one computer and printer. Development will continue with that in mind Can I get a summary of all the winners (top 3) in every category? Yes. There is a checkbox on the 'Meet & Session Info' sheet to display an extra page. At the top of that, there is a button that will create a list of everyone that were in the top 3 placings on amy event. This could be used as part of an archive with results from over the years I made a custom results sheet and then it disappeared. What happened? Be sure the tab name for the results sheet begins with the same session number, similar to the other result sheets for the session. In this example, any new result sheets for session 1 should also begin with "01-". (Note the 2-digit session #.) 4.16 The PDF button on the results sheet sometimes does not seem to work. What can be done? The PDF button was added at the last minute and apparently needs some adjustment. A work-around that seems to help is to print one results sheet normally. Clicking on the PDF button then seems to work to make a PDF file of the selected sheet quickly. and giving it a name that matches the tab for the sheet. You should do any formatting beforehand, such a adjusting column widths and selecting landscape or portrait orientation, etc. Getting Started With GymScoreLite - WAG March 21, 2017 (update-h) Stu Cram, Regina, SK Page 32 of 33
