2 Introduction The Green-tech Rootball Fixing System is a preferred method of securing saplings, rootball and containerised trees. Site Preparation (Things to Consider) Before any tree kit is installed it is always recommended to use a CAT scanner to the required depth to check for buried services. Installation Method 1. Excavate the tree pit to the required size. 2. Drive the 3 anchors into the base of the pit using the hand-held drive rod or the petrol post driver.

Remove the installation tool and drive rod. 4. Load the anchors with the anchor loading hook or anchor loading jack. 5. Lay the 3 strips of Rootball Protector over the rootball, as per Fig:1. 6.

3 Installation Method 1. Excavate the tree pit to the required size. 2. Drive the 3 anchors into the base of the pit using the hand-held drive rod or the petrol post driver. Install the anchors equally spaced around the rootball until the anchor loops are level with the base of the excavation, in a tripod fashion, as per Fig:1. 3. Remove the installation tool and drive rod. 4. Load the anchors with the anchor loading hook or anchor loading jack. 5. Lay the 3 strips of Rootball Protector over the rootball, as per Fig:1. 6. Thread the free end of the tensioning wire (which is attached to the ratchet tensioner) through the anchor loops and slot into the Rootball Protector in a tripod fashion. 7. Pass the free end of the wire through the hole in the ratchet spindle ensuring the wire is under the spring. 8. Pull the wire through the spindle until tight and cut off the remaining excess wire leaving approximately 50mm through the spindle. 9. With the short tail of wire (about 50mm) protruding, wind the ratchet wheel using the ratchet tensioner tool. This will cause the wire to tension under pressure. 10. Whilst using the ratchet tensioner check that each leg of the wire is centred on the Rootball Protector strips, as per Fig: When you are satisfied that the rootball is well supported and secure remove the ratchet tensioner. 12. Remove all equipment and any spare wire from the pit. 13. Back fill the pit to cover the rootball and continue until the pit is back to ground level. Fig: 1 Fig: 2
