3 AN SYSTEM 3 LEG DEADMAN SYSTEM Rootball fixing system, including root-ball mat, is the preferred method of securing rootballed, airpot and containerised semi-mature trees. The ease of installation and lack of unsightly guy wires makes it the first choice of customers. The root-ball mat allows secure positioning of newly transplanted trees, whilst offering major benefits over traditional root support systems. Available in 3 standard sizes, the root-ball mat can be tailored to suit most rootball dimensions. This significant development allows faster installation and provides a greater contact surface area at the top of the rootballed or container grown tree. Major Benefits include... Lay the sleepers in the planting hole and place the tender loop around the sleeper and back through itself.

Place medium over the deadman sleepers to set the correct rootball depth and consolidate. 4.

The 3 compression mats are placed over the trees root ball in a triangular pattern. 6.

Dig the hole for the tree s root ball allowing additional room for deadman sleepers either on parallel or 3 x short length. 2. Lay the sleepers in the planting hole and place the tender loop around the sleeper and back through itself. Tie a 2m length of rope to the end tender loop so the tender does not get lost when the tree is installed. 3. Place medium over the deadman sleepers to set the correct rootball depth and consolidate. 4. The tree s root ball can now be placed into the planting hole, ensure the anchor thimble eyes are not covered by the root ball. 5. The 3 compression mats are placed over the trees root ball in a triangular pattern. 6. The tensioning rope is looped through the thimble eyes and over the tree s root ball in a triangular pattern as shown in figure Engage the end of the tensioning rope with the ratchet tensioner and tighten. The tree is now fully secured and the remainder of the planting hole can be back-filled with soil. Figure 2

Designed, developed and manufactured in Australia for challenging Southern Hemisphere conditions the Earth Anchors are built extra tough to stringent Australian standards thereby guaranteeing safe products and consistent quality. These systems are specifically designed to provide security and stability to the transplanted tree for up to five years whilst the roots establish themselves. Thereafter key elements of the system will degrade to allow unrestricted root growth. The following anchors are used in our tree systems and are selected according to the size of the tree, the design and layout of the planting area and local soil and weather conditions. Bespoke solutions are available upon request. The Anchors are locked into position with an upward pull on the thimble eyes with a lever or jack. The anchor tendon will usually pull back about the length of the anchor body. 4. The tree s root ball can now be placed into the planting hole, ensure the anchor thimble eyes are not covered by the root ball. 5. The 3 compression root-ball mats are placed over the trees root ball in a triangular pattern. 6. The tensioning rope is looped through the thimble eyes and over the tree s root ball in a triangular pattern as shown in figure Engage the end of the tensioning rope with the ratchet tensioner and tighten.
