2 Climbing & Outdoor Product catalogue 2011/12 Dear customers, fans and partners of Rock Empire 2 The roots of our outdoor equipment production date to the year 1990 where, as with many similar activities in this field, existed enthusiasm or dissatisfaction of mountain climbers, as well as the undreamt-of business possibilities after the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia. Since the very beginning, a clear relationship was developed with the emerging trade network of HUDY Sport, which later led to the creation of its sister company, HUDY Production, in With this came the expansion of development and production for climbing harnesses. Since that time, the company has become a specialist in the field of climbing harnesses and the Rock Empire trademark became synonymous with top mountaineering equipment. The development of the company was always closely connected to HUDY Sport Inc., which for years was successesfully securing business activity for the Rock Empire trademark at home, as well as abroad. In all those years together we succeeded in supporting many talents in climbing, and additionally supporting expeditions and top performances, Jiří Chaloupka CEO not to mention some ordinary joys destined to the wide climbing public. These contacts were always very important decision-making factors for us regarding where to go next. But every development has its borders and we reached them in 2007 when we had to separate from the export-orientated production of HUDY Production and business activity of the HUDY Sport Ltd. network. The summer of 2008 saw the arrival of the current form of Rock Empire Ltd. and since the year 2009 the company has taken over the export ownership and management of the Rock Empire trademark. These days, the company s products are sold across all continents at more than 30 countries worldwide. We continue to aspire to our activities in keeping the meaning of innovation, the use of values and your satisfaction. Climbing competitions have only been around for eight years, and, since 2004, Iva has collected not only eye-catching achievements in the Czech Republic but also internationally. Beginning last year, she is also building a strong portfolio of rock climbs - the difficulty of 8a (La Cucina-Massone) is her highest level in her 13 years of climbing. During the winter, you can find him with a bouldering crash pad on his back or climbing somewhere warm in the world, and, over the summer, you can meet him on the sandstone cliffs in the Czech Republic or in the Alps. In his years of climbing, he has had many experiences and climbed many difficult routes from ones on Czech sandstones to the big walls of the Alps and beyond. Together with Edita Vopatova, he offers courses in climbing - introducing participants to the beauty of climbing. Ondra is a versatile climber, who has completed over 500 routes greater than 8a, dozens of first ascents in the sandstones Xa XIb, and development of more than 1500 bouldering routes in northern Bohemia up to the 8A difficulty. 6 h a r n e s s e s Introducing Rock Empire harnesses In the summer of 2010, I returned to the Alps after a year s absence to finish my personal Alp trilogy. While packing, I had a dilemma: which climbing harness should I take? Amongst my climbing gear, I had two harnesses both from Rock Empire: the sport harness Sirion and the 3-buckle Guardian. I thought about the program for the next month and realized that I would spend more time on the wall than sport climbing. So I chose the Guardian, which I also used a year before while sitting on belay and felt as happy as a newborn baby in a dry diaper. I discovered I made the right decision during my first climb, the Emperor s New Clothes (Wilder Kaiser, Austria). This route is pretty pendulous with not a lot of places for resting your feet. I had quite a hard time on the wall, and there were a lot of falls. Thanks to the superior cushioning and design of the Guardian, I didn t have the bruising on my waist and legs that I have had with other harnesses. Outfitted with great equipment, I made good progress, and, after 5 days, I successfully finished and was able to celebrate being only the 3rd person in the world to climb the Alpine Trilogy. I am already planning my future trips and know I will take Rock Empire s new, improved 3 buckle harness, Arkas, with me.
