This user manual provides suggested procedures for prep, donning and release of the K9 mannequin. Adaptation of additional combat equipment is not part of the scope of this user manual. 3 PREP & DONNING OF K9 TRAINING KIT 1. The K9 Jump Kit is required when jumping with the K9 Jump Mannequin. Note: All directional notations (left/right) relate specifi - cally to the jumper. Such as Jumper s left or Jumper s right. 2. Open the Snap Shackle of the left Upper Attachment Hardware. Engage the Shackle with the left V-ring of the K9 and the Accessory Ring on the Body Sling. Figure 1. Necessary Components 3. Attach the right Snap Shackle in similar fashion. Ensure the red release tabs mounted on the Upper Attachment Hardware are facing outboard. Figure 2. 4 4. Attach the left B-12 Snap to the upper equipment attachment point. 5. Attach the right B-12 Snap to the upper equipment attachment point. Figure 4. Attach the Left B-12 Snap 6. 5 7. Grasp the lower QE snap of the Body Sling, extend the webbing and remove any twists. 8. Attach the left lower QE Snap of the Body Sling to the left lateral equipment ring as shown. Figure 7. 6 10. Tighten the left and right lower attachments so they are symetrical and secure. Stow the excess webbing in the elastic keepers provided. The K9 Mannequin is now ready for jump operations. Figure 10. K9 Attachment is Complete. 6 of 26 CPS-K9-REV-0

7 RELEASING THE K9 MANNEQUIN 11. To release the K9 Mannequin, fi rst release the lower attachment points. Pull outward on the lever arms of the QE snaps to release them. This may be done one at a time, or simultaniously. 12. From the kneeling position, grasp both red release tabs located on the Upper Attachment Hardware. Figure 11. Release Lowers First 13. 8 CARABINER ATTACHMENT FOR LOWER K9 POSITIONING 14. Note: A locking carabiner may be used in place of the Upper Attachment Hardware when the parachute harness has mid-level cargo rings approximately at chest strap height. The minimum rated strength should be 4500 lbs + per carabiner. 15. Attach a carabiner (model shown is rated at lbs) to each cargo ring as shown. Figure 14. Carabiner Used for Upper Attachments 16. 9 17. Kneel down when hooking up the K9, with its head to the jumper s left side. Notice the orientation of the carabiner, with the gates facing to the outside. 18. 10 20. Attach the other accessory ring to its corresponding carabiner. 21. Hook up the left lower side attachment QE snap to the left lateral cargo ring. Figure 20. 11 23. Tighten down both the left and right lower attachment straps so the K9 is snug to the jumper s body. Stow the excess webbing in the elastic keepers. 24. The K9 mannequin is ready to jump. To detach the K9, drop to the kneeling position, release the lower attachments fi rst, then release the uppers. Figure 23. Tighten & Stow Lower Attachment Straps Figure 24. 13 PREP & DONNING OF K9 JUMP PACKAGE 25. Connect the Upper Attachment Hardware (a component of the K9 Training Kit) to the upper equipment attachments points as shown. Ensure the red release tabs are positioned out-board. 26. Connect the Lateral Attachment Hardware to the lateral equipment ring using a Lark s Head knot. Ensure the Cobra Quick Release is positioned as shown. Figure 25. Connect Upper Attachment Hardware 27. Kneel down in front of the K9 Support Tray in preparation for attachment to your harness. 14 28. Slide the long Velcro tab under the chest strap as shown. 29. Fold the tab over the chest strap and engage the Velcro at the appropriate height. Figure 28. Slide Velcro Tab Under Chest Strap 30. Place the K9 mannequin or live-k9 onto the K9 Support Tray with the K9 s head to the jumper s left. A live K9 must fi rst be outfi tted with its own K9 tactical harness equipped with two (2) upper V-Rings in a similar position as what is seen on the K9 mannequin. Figure 29. 15 31. Open both Snap Shackles on the Upper Attachment Hardware (part of the K9 Training Kit). Engage the Shackles with the V-rings on the K9 as shown. 32. Add the Upper Release Hardware to the Snap Shackles of the Upper Attachment Hardware as shown. Figure 31. Connect Snap Shackles to V-Rings 33. 16 34. Repeat the above connection on the opposite side of the K9 Support Tray. 35. A small Velcro pouch just below the Cobra adapter is designed to hold the excess adjustment webbing. Figure 34. Connect the Cobra Quick Release 36. Connect the male and female Cobra Quick Release located on the front of the K9 Support Tray. Tighten the adjustment strap accordingly. Figure 35. Pull the left side Velcro tab around the chest of the K9 and mate the Velcro so it suffi ciently contains the K The left side Velcro tab is now closed and is securely containing the K9 mannequin. 18 40. The K9 is shown partially secured within the K9 Support Tray. Ensure all four (4) red release tabs are properly oriented. Check your hardware connections. 41. 19 43. Simultaniously tighten both lower attachment points and stow away excess webbing. 44. Ensure the lower adjustment straps are suffi ciently secure to prevent excessive movement of the K9 during jump operations. Figure 43. Tighten Both Lower Attachments 45. The K9 is ready to jump. 20 RELEASING THE K9 (LIVE-K9 OR MANNEQUIN) FROM THE JUMP PACKAGE 46. To release the K9, from the kneeling position, grasp both upper red release tabs and pull them in an outward direction. This should be done simultaniously. 47. The K9 is now completely released from the jumper. When jumping a live-k9, the jumper may choose to maintain control of the K9 by attaching a short leash or other control device just prior to complete release from the jumper s harness. Figure 46. 21 CARABINER ATTACHMENT FOR LOWER K9 POSITIONING WITH K9 JUMP PACKAGE 48. Attach a carabiner (model shown is rated at lbs) to each cargo ring as shown. Note the proper orientation with the gate facing forward to facilitate hook up to the K Attach the carabiners to the K9 s V- rings as shown. Figure 48. Optional Carabiner Use 50. 22 51. Connect the Cobra hardware from the Upper Release to the Cobra hardware on the K9 Support Tray. 52. Connect the male and female Cobra Quick Release located on the front of the K9 Support Tray. 23 54. A small Velcro pouch just below the Cobra adapter is designed to hold the excess adjustment webbing. 55. The excess webbing is stowed and the pouch is closed to secure the webbing. Figure 54. 24 57. The front portion of the K9 Support Tray is now completely secured. 58. Connect the left Lateral Attachment Hardware to the K9 Support Tray s lower attachment point. Figure 57. Simultaniously tighten both lower attachment points and stow away excess webbing. 25 RELEASING THE K9 (LIVE-K9 OR MANNEQUIN) FROM THE JUMP PACKAGE WHEN CARABINERS ARE USED. 60. Open the side tabs by peeling the Velcro open. 61. Grasp the red tabs on the Upper Release Hardware in preparation to release the front of the K9 Support Tray. Figure 60. Peel Open the Side Tabs 62. 26 63. Release your grip on the red tabs to allow the K9 Support Tray to open completely. 64. Kneel down prior to release of the carabiners. Release the right carabiner fi rst to maintain control of the Live-K9 s head. Figure 63. K9 Support Tray is Now Open 65. Release the left carabiner to free the K9 completely from the K9 Support Tray and the jumper.
