1 3330 Speeks Drive Midlothian, VA May 29, 2005 Dear Skaters, Coaches, Parents and Supporters, You may have heard that the Memorial Day Invitational at Cavalier was canceled due to low entries. This unfortunately was the last in-region opportunity for our skaters to compete prior to our regional championships in June. In the interest of our skaters, I have worked with Dan and Michelle Arnold to host a one-day competition in lieu of the canceled meet. My thanks go out to them for their flexibility and willingness to support our skaters. The Richmond Memorial Day Invitational will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2005 at Skate-A-Way located on Speeks Drive in Midlothian, Virginia. It is a clean and modern facility with an 80 x180 maple floor coated with Roll On plastic. The sound system is capable of handling all types of media for freestyle, pairs and creative dance. We will be using CD music from various artists for dance events. Due to the compressed timeframe, and the uncertainty of participation we may receive, we will be offering events across all three disciplines (figures, dance, freestyle) to maximize the opportunity for our skaters, and yet do so in a manner that is cost effective for the host operator. All events will be skated as final events and may be combined or skated co-ed as necessary. The meet will run all day Sunday. We have practice time available Saturday afternoon and if there is sufficient interest we will run an organized practice then. Please indicate on your application if you would take advantage of the organized practice time. 3 Freestyle, Creative Solo, and Pairs Events Freestyle Events Freestyle events will be skated as follows: Tiny Tot (6 yrs and under as of Jan 1) Primary A Juvenile A Juv/Elem B Elementary A Freshman A Fresh/Soph B Sophomore A Jr/JrWC/SrWC (Long Program Only) Novice B Inline(All ages & co-ed Creative Solo Creative Solo will be skated as one event. This will include the inlines and quads in one event. Pairs Pairs events will be split into two: Elementary age and under and Freshman age and up. Pertinent Information: 1. Contestants must hold a current USA Roller Sports Amateur Card or purchase a single event card for this meet only. 2. Contestants will be limited to participating in a maximum of two events per discipline (figures, freestyle, dance) and only 1 loop event. Please note that skaters who elect to skate the combined JWC/SWC figure event may not enter another loop event. 3. Please be ready to skate one hour ahead of your event s schedule. 4.
