1 SYLLABUS EVENT DETAILS Organizer: Parinama Cultural Development Foundation Date: November 4-5, 2017 Time: Competition, 8am-5pm Finals, Awards Ceremony and Gala, 7pm onwards Venue: Shanghai Expo Centre ( ADJUDICATOR PANEL The competition will be judged by a panel of internationally recognized adjudicators representing more than 10 different nations including Honorary WDC President Robin Short as Chairman of Adjudicators. ENTRY 1. All entries must be done online: 2. Deadline for entry is Tuesday, September 26, All couples must consist of one male and one female pairing. 4. Group registration forms can be downloaded from Only groups with 10 or more couples can use this method. Filled-out forms should be sent to info@shanghaiopen.org before the entry deadline. 5. Late entries will be approved on a space available basis and a late fee of RMB 500 per entry shall apply. 6. Competitors may compete in multiple dance categories provided they comply with the syllabus restrictions. 7. Multiple entries will be charged in accordance with the fees from each category. 8. All entries are subject to the organizer s approval. 9. The organizer reserves the right to refuse any entries from persons whose status is unclear or unqualified. 10. No change of partner will be permitted once the entry submission is confirmed. 11. Any change in entries must be approved and confirmed by the organizer. A RMB 500 service fee will be charged. 12. Couples registering for dance categories with age restrictions must submit a copy of their passport or official ID (Chinese citizens) along with their entries to ensure they comply with the corresponding age requirement. 13. All couples must provide true and accurate information, and ensure corresponding payments are made before the deadline to be successfully registered to the competition. All couples will be responsible for ensuring they are registered correctly. Entries submitted into the wrong age group will be disqualified and not readjusted. 14. Confirmation of entry by will be issued upon receiving a completed entry form and correct application fee. If competitors do not receive a confirmation of entry within 2 weeks, it is their responsibility to contact the organizer and verify that they are entered in the relevant competition classes. 15. All entry fees are non-transferable at any stage. VISA REQUEST 1. Invitation letters can be issued to any embassy, if needed. 2. It is the couple s responsibility to contact the organizers at info@shanghaiopen.org to request one. You must supply the name and address of the embassy along with the full name, passport number, passport expiry date, nationality, and birthday, for each individual requesting a visa. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY 1. All cancellation of entries must be made in writing to the organizers. No phone cancellations will be accepted. 2. Cancellations made prior to the deadline, September 26, 2017 will be charged 50% of the total entry fee for non-recoverable processing costs. 3. There are no refunds for cancellations received after September 26, Refunds will be processed approximately 30 days after the event.

2 RULES AND REGULATIONS 2017 PARINAMA SHANGHAI OPEN 1. All couples must wear appropriate dance costumes for the competition and awards ceremony (Please refer to appendix on dress regulations). 2. Any couple who fails to appear at the scheduled time will be disqualified from the event. To avoid doubt, please arrive to the event venue at least one hour before scheduled dance. 3. All judges decisions are final and no discussion will be entertained. 4. The organizer reserves the right to refuse entry or admittance to the arena. 5. Any official complaint must be submitted in writing to the organizing committee. All complaints will be handled according to WDC Competition Rules. For information, please visit 6. The organizer will not be responsible for the theft or loss of items in the changing rooms, performance areas, or hotel rooms and, neither will they be held liable for any injuries sustained by persons attending this event. Everyone attending does so at his or her own risk. 7. Video recording of any kind is strictly prohibited with the exception of the designated video company. 8. The copyright for all television coverage, videos, and photographs is vested solely with the organizer, regardless of their purpose or use. 9. Following the venue policy, the following items are not permitted into the arena: food, alcohol, glass bottles, metal cans, laser pointers, professional camera equipment, and tripods. 10. The arena has concessions where couples can purchase food and drinks. 11. For security measures, couples will be given competition passes to enter the backstage and compete. The pass must be worn at all times. 12. Couples will be granted general admission tickets for the day of their competition. They will have to purchase a separate ticket if they wish to attend the other day of competition. Couples with only the first or second day ticket will be entitled to a special 40% discount for up to two general admission tickets for the other day provided they make their purchase within the registration period. 13. There will be no complimentary entry for trainers, teachers, team captains, private photographers and videographers, or family members. All persons entering the arena must purchase a ticket. 14. Tickets can be purchased at ACCOMMODATION & AIRPORT TRANSFER 1. The organizer will provide a twin room at the designated hotel on the day before and the day of competition (2 nights) for couples who made the top 12 in the 2016 Parinama Shanghai Open International Professional and International Amateur categories, and top 6 in the Asia Professional categories. 2. Competitors must be enrolled by the entry deadline to secure entitled accommodation. 3. The organizer can assist with the booking of other participants accommodation (at the official hotel) upon request. Please info@shanghaiopen.org by September 26, 2017 accordingly. 4. There will be scheduled shuttles (Schedule: TBA) between Pudong International Airport and the official hotel. Private airport transfers can be arranged at 400 RMB (one way). Asia Professional and Asia Amateur are restricted to competitors from Asia. Asian nationality (WDC division includes China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) is required for at least one partner. EXEMPTIONS 1. Exemption from the first round will be granted to those who made the top 6 in the 2016 Parinama Shanghai Open International Professional, Asia Professional and International Amateur categories. 2. Exemptions will not apply if the aforementioned categories have only three rounds or less. 3. The exemptions only apply to the same partnership as existed in the aforesaid event, and not to the competitors individually. AWARDS 1. International Professional, Amateur and Asia Professional Top 12 will each receive certificates (per individual), cash awards (per couple), and trophies (per couple) 2. Junior Under 16 B, Junior Under 14 B, and Juvenile Under 12 B are restricted to non-professional dance school students. Said couples may compete for either or both A and B dance categories. 4. Juveniles are restricted to the British Dance Council (BDC) syllabus. 5. Juveniles dress code must follow British Dance Council (BDC) rules (Please refer to appendix on dress regulations for further details). 6. Youth, Junior, and Juvenile Age limit is based on the elder partner 7. Showcase may consist of one or more dances from the ten ballroom and latin dances. 3. Lighting, music and other special set requirements must be ed along with the registration form (See appendix on Showcase Registration form) by October 16, Music must be submitted to info@shanghaiopen.org in mp3 format by October 16, Performance order will be determined by a random draw. All performers have the right to be present during the draw. 6. Rehearsal time: TBA 7. Registration fee includes 2 VIP tickets 8. The organizers will offer special assistance to showcase performers including venue transportation, rehearsals, costume & styling, video and photography, etc.

Awards must be claimed within three (3) days after the event. Anything unclaimed beyond this time will be forfeited. 2. Competitors are responsible for any required taxes in their respective countries 3. Parinama Shanghai Open is a non-profit event. All entry fees are considered as charitable donations, which support cultural enhancement initiatives in Shanghai. 4. Awards are granted to recognize talent and sponsor couples expenses as they travel around the world to promote the dance industry.

9 APPENDIX DRESS REGULATIONS 2017 PARINAMA SHANGHAI OPEN General 1. All costumes worn in competitions must be in compliance with the characteristics for each of the Ballroom and Latin disciplines. 2. Costuming shall conform to the accepted norms for men and women in competition-dancing. 3. Women must wear a skirt, dress or long trousers. They may only wear shorts, culottes or leotards with skirts. Skirts and dresses must create characteristic shape for either Ballroom or Latin. In Ballroom, dresses must at minimum covers both knees; if the skirt is split it must not be split higher than the knee. In Latin, dresses must be made of fabric, fringe, feathers, beads or any other suitable material. The skirt can be split or open on the sides, provided it always covers the panties in front and in the back when standing still. 4. Makeup worn must be appropriate to the dancer s age and the level of competition, which is being danced. 5. Advertising is permitted on costumes. The advertisement must not exceed a length of 10 cm and a height of 4 cm. 6. The organizer reserves the right to require any dancer to remove an item of jewelry or dress at any time if they pose a potential danger to anyone. 7. The organizer reserves the right to suspend dancers from the competition if they fail to comply with the dress regulations. 8. The Chairman's interpretation of these Dress Regulations is final and binding. Juveniles (Under 12, 10, 8) BOYS Shirt Pants/Trousers Ties Belts Shoes GIRLS Dress - General Material Bodice Neck Line/Openings Sleeves Plain white long sleeve collared shirt (Material e.g. cotton, polycotton, polyamide, lycra or similar non-shiny material). Shirt must be tucked into trousers. Sleeves must be full length and have a single or double cuff. Only buttons or small plain cufflinks may be used. NOT ALLOWED: Wing collars, extra full sleeves, rolled up sleeves Plain black, normal or high-waisted (Material e.g. polyester, wool, stretch helenca, suiting, mohair) NOT ALLOWED: Same stripe materials, satin stripes on side seams, satin waistbands or similar decoration Black tie or bow tie Plain black belts are allowed but must be narrow with a small buckle Black shoes with black socks Self-colored dress with one hem length all the way round; simple, plain, or pleated skirt only. All materials within the dress must be the same color (dye match) throughout. Dance Crepe, Lycra, Lace, Stretch Satin, Chiffon, Velvet or similar materials may be used. The dress must not be decorated in part lace panels, motifs, bows, ribbons or buttons. A small bow may only be used on belt or sash as fastening. Material must be the same color as the skirt. See-through material must be fully lined. Bodice length must be waistline or hipline. Sash to be no wider than 5 cm to cover the join. Buttons and sashes for fastening purposes only. Back and front view as illustrated; keyhole back also permitted but not to be lower than top of armpit. One frill up to 7.5 cm in depth or a simple collar. Long (straight or small bishop), short, elbow length, short puff, cap; no frills or dolman

Latin: above the knee skirts; not more than 5 cm above the top of the knee. Only one underskirt is permitted and may have a frill of up to 8.5 cm. NOT ALLOWED: Tiaras, headbands or diamante decoration on the hair Only jewelry of a personal/religious nature may be worn. NOT ALLOWED: Armbands, neckbands, and gloves Block heel with a maximum height of 3.5 cm. White ankle socks must be worn. Good Taste Rule Any use of material or color or construction or other contrivance that gives the appearance of noncompliance with these dress rules, even though there is no breach of the literal wording of these rules, will be a breach of these rules if so determined by the Chairman of Adjudicators.
