1 Chamonix Crochet Hat Materials for the child & adult are the same : The child's size will fit most 3-8 years olds & anyone older will want the Adult. *3 skeins bulky weight yarn for hat *1 skein yarn for flower / pom poms *Size 6 crochet hook *Pom pom maker (optional if you want to add a pom pom) *Clover safety pin markers
2 Abbreviations: Ch: Chain St: Stitch Sl st: Slip stitch Dbb: Double Bobble Bb: Triple Bobble Double Bobble (dbb) Stitch Description: Holding loop on hook loose, *yarn over hook, push hook through ring, yarn over hook and pull through loosely; repeat from *. You will have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over hook and draw through all 5 loops. Triple Bobble (bb) Stitch Description: Holding loop on hook loose, *yarn over hook, push hook through ring, yarn over hook and pull through loosely; repeat twice from *. You will have 7 loops on your hook. Yarn over hook and draw through all 5 loops. Join: Jon rows by sl st in loop holding dbb / bb, then sl st into big hole next to dbb / bb. 3 Child s Hat: Ch 6. Join ch with a sl st forming a ring. Row 1: *Dbb in ring, ch 2; rep 5 times from * to get 6 dbb in ring. Join. Row 2: SS in 1 st large hole. Bb in same big hole, ch 2, bb in same hole, ch 2, *bb in next big hole, ch2, bb in same hole, ch 2; repeat 5 times from * to get 12 bb. Join. Row 3: SS in 1 st large hole. Bb in same big hole, ch 2, bb in same hole, ch 2, bb in next big hole. *Bb in next big hole, ch2, bb in same hole, bb in next big hole, ch 2; repeat 4 times from * to get 18 bb. Join. Row 4: SS in 1 st large hole. Bb in same big hole, ch 2. *Bb in next big hole, ch Row 5: SS in 1 st large hole. Bb in same big hole, ch 2. *Bb in next big hole, ch Row 6: SS in 1 st large hole. There should be approximately 9 additional spaces between the marker and the back of the first ear flap. 2; repeat 3 times from * to get 5 bb. Ch 1, turn 2; repeat twice from * to get 4 bb. Ch 1, turn 2; repeat from * to get 3 bb. Ch 1, turn Row 4: SS in 1 st large hole. 7 Row 4: SS in 1 st large hole. Bb in same big hole, ch 2, Bb in next big hole, ch 1 Fasten off. Braids: Using a ruler or board that is approximately 24 in length, wrap your yarn around it times. Cut the end and pull it off the ruler leaving both ends uncut. Feed one looped end through the hole in between the bottom 2 bb on your ear flap and pull evenly. Cut the loops on the ends so that you have raw ends to braid with. Divide the strands into 3 even sections and braid. Tie off the end by wrapping 3 5 times and tying a knot. Pull the ends through the braid to hide using a small hook. Repeat on the second ear flap and trim the ends of both sides so that they are even. Flower: CH 4, SS. into first chain, making a circle. CH3, 2 TC, CH 3, SS. into a circle* repeat 5 or 6 times, as you wish SS to connect to first chain, weave in ends. Another flower: CH 4, SS. into first chain, making a circle SC, CH* 8 times in a circle (making 8 posts and 8 bridges, SS. to first SC *CH 2, 2 DC in bridge, CH 2, SS. (over post) *8 times Freestyle extra layers if you wish. Pom Pom s Using the 2-1/2 inch pom pom maker, make 3 pom pom s. Fasten one to each ear flap in the hole between the bottom two bb.
