See page 6 for a listing of some of the amazing donated items and services. Put on your PURPLE! Wear purple on Wednesday in support of the Alzheimer Society Why Purple? An excerpt from "Early Onset Alzheimer's Blog", by LS Fisher "Those of us who know Alzheimer's from personal experience can show our support of this special month by wearing purple. After looking up information about purple, I believe it is a great choice for the fight against Alzheimer's. The color purple symbolizes mystery, and Alzheimer's is indeed a mysterious disease. Researchers have learned much about the disease, but cannot solve the mystery of how to cure or prevent the disease. Purple represents magic, and we are ready for that magical moment when we live in a world without Alzheimer's. Purple is a combination of red (the warmest color) and blue (the coolest color). The color spectrum extremes could be compared to the emotional turmoil Alzheimer's takes on the family of a person with Alzheimer's.

4 Saturday Morning Practice and Play After the June 24th session, Practice and Play will take a break until October 14th Don't despair-- Tuesday afternoon Bridge Lab continues throughout the summer Friday Evening Games have been suspended for the summer and will return on Friday, September 15th W Report From Your Librarians - Roger and Judy Jolliffe We are pleased to see that the LBC Library is being well used and very grateful that most members are following the procedures diligently. As a result of our recent library audit, we have learned the number of missing books has increased dramatically over the last 6 months: About 6 months ago, there were 41 books missing and only 2 of those have been returned The missing books total has now risen to 68, a major increase It appears books are being removed without being signed out and books are not being returned. A few weeks ago, a list of missing books was posted on the main bulletin board, however, only a few have been returned. We are somewhat baffled as to why this is happening as we felt everyone understood the need for some administrative controls to secure this valuable LBC asset. If you have any LBC books in your possession that have not been signed out, PLEASE return them to the "Returned Books" shelf. REMEMBER - the LBC procedures to borrow books from the library are: Sign out (fully and legibly) any books you wish to read Sign it back in when returned. Please DO NOT FILE the book. Place it on the "Returned Books" shelf as tracking the return is difficult, otherwise.

5 A few weeks ago 6 ceiling fans were installed to improve air circulation and to help maintain a more even temperature in the main playing room. The wiring for these fans had been added as part of the original renovations of the facility. The fans are set to draw the air up, and the speed is set to the minimum possible, so you will not feel a draft. We have already noticed that the air is fresher and there are fewer temperature fluctuations during our games. Thank you to ABC Electric for doing the work for a very reasonable price! LOST AND FOUND Monday Mornings MP Games Ever feel lost after the play of a hand and find yourself wondering what went wrong? Here's an opportunity to find out what a master player would have done. Dwight Bender will be available at the end of the Monday morning sessions to answer your questions and/or review significant hands and provide tips to improve your game. Table Tips At the end of a round it is courteous to thank your opponents before moving on to the next table. Once the bidding has commenced general conversation is not encouraged at the table. Remember that Bridge is a highly competitive game and each player needs to respect the rights of other players at all times.

Novice Tournament a fun event hosted by London Bridge Centre Saturday June 24th Intended for those who have just started playing bridge in the last few years and who would like to try a tournament geared just for them.
