FIRST For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Vision To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes. Dean Kamen, Founder
Gracious Professionalism With Gracious Professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. They avoid treating anyone like losers. No chest thumping tough talk, but no sticky-sweet platitudes either. Knowledge, competition, and empathy are comfortably blended. Dr. Woody Flowers ME Prof. at MIT
Prior Lake Robotics Founded in 2006 we have grown from 1 team and 21 kids to 20 teams and over 350 kids participating in 2016/17.
The basic kit of parts.
One basic kit, but different designs for different tasks. Each year the game changes and so do the robots.
Start with building on a solid frame base, and then add the structural components, followed with programming. Follow the rules in the manual to avoid penalties. You will have help. Tuesday Sep 26 th, 7:00-8:30pm Team formation night and kit hand out. Tue/Thu Oct 3 rd, 10 th and 12 th from pm Teams meet at PLHS commons (no robotics on Oct 5 th due to high school conferences). Teams attempt to build square bot. ** Post that the team meets every other Thu for parts and field setup. Thursday Oct 12 th 7:30-9:00 pm Game reveal and square bot due Thursday Oct 26 th, Nov 9 th, 7:30-9:00 pm Parts can be picked up and game field would be setup. 11 Practice driving, improve the program and refine the robot.
Time for the competition! Hosted by KING TeC at PLHS.
Last minute details are worked on, from nuts and bolts to stronger programming.
Two teams are on the RED alliance. Two teams are on the BLUE alliance
Ready?, Set, PLAY!!
It s a lot of fun, but it s only just the beginning! GRADE K Prior Lake Robotics Help needed at all levels
Middle school robotics is the stepping stone to the larger robots offered at the high school. The Next Step The FTC Kit-of-Parts.
Just like VEX, each year the challenge changes. The state tournament was held at PLHS hosted by KING TeC. Winners of this event advance on to the Super regional in Iowa.
2010 FIRST Robotics World Competition in the Georgia Dome, Atlanta. The Prior Lake FTC team, Tempered Steel and their alliance partners, brought home a 2 nd Place World Championship trophy. PLHS students Tempered Steel 154- Renegade Team Tiki
The final step. (MSHSL sponsored competition) The FRC Kit-of-Parts changes ever year, though many of the pieces have similar components from the previous years.
The FRC robot is much larger, weights 120 pounds and is built in six weeks.
Robots competed in the Georgia Dome and the Pits Area is in the World Congress Center.
Where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders. Dean Kamen, Founder
