1 KEY INFORMATION FOR CLUBS Geelong Marlins Water Polo Club is proudly hosting the 6 th annual Victorian Junior Club Championships on behalf of Water Polo Victoria. We invite all Victorian Water Polo affiliated clubs to enter teams and participate in a weekend of water polo fun. This document contains key information about the 2016 VJCC. Updated information will be available through our club s website at and on our junior Facebook page Junior Marlins. 2 Date and venue The Victorian Junior Club Championships will be held on Saturday 20 February and Sunday 21 February 2016 at Kardinia Aquatic Centre, 25 Park Crescent South Geelong. Grades Clubs will be invited to enter teams in the following grades: - 16/U boys Born 2000 or later - 16/U girls Born 2000 or later - 14/U boys Born 2002 or later - 14/U girls Born 2002 or later - 12/U mixed Born 2004 or later As the Championships are held over two days team numbers will be limited in each grade. In the 16/U and14/u grades the maximum number of teams will be limited to eight. Clubs are encouraged to submitted one team per grade, a second team entry from a Club in each grade may be accepted from a club, only, if team entries from a grade are below the maximum. Water Polo Victoria affiliated clubs from interstate are eligible to enter teams. Non-affiliated Clubs may be invited to participate to ensure a pool of eight teams in a grade; this is at the discretion of the Tournament Director, in consultation with Water Polo Victoria. Non-affiliated Clubs are not eligible to play finals. In the 12/U mixed grade the number of teams will be limited to four teams. Entries will not be accepted without payment of the team entry fee. Team Entry Fee This year team entries will be accepted by submitting the team entry form together with a team entry fee of $700 (per team). 3 Team availability All teams must be available to play from 8 am to 8:30 pm on Saturday, and 8am to 5:00 pm on the Sunday. A draft draw is available, and a final draw will be released closer to the Championships. Number of players in a team 16/U teams may nominate a maximum of 13 players, (with only 11 eligible to play in a game), and a minimum of 9 players. 14/U and 12/U teams must nominate a minimum of 11 players, and a maximum of 12 players. Teams must have the minimum number of players for each grade; team with less players may apply for players in the draft. Minimum number of players per team: 16/U 9 players 14/U 11 players 12/U 11 players Player draft If a player is not selected to play by their primary club, they may be eligible to nominate to join the draft for the Championships. Nominations for the draft are required by 8 th February 2016 and the draft will be held on 13 th February See Team and Player Eligibility Rules Team Referee Each TEAM must provide one referee for the game immediately following the game they have just played. The referee must be nominated and contact details provided with player nominations. The Technical Director will coordinate all referees and appoint referees for all final games. Table officials and goal judges Each TEAM entered must provide one person for table duty and one goal judge for the game immediately following the game they have just played. Match Balls Each team is to supply two match balls for their game. Saturday Night BBQ get together Teams are invited to attend a Saturday night BBQ with other club teams. 3

4 This is a chance to socialise with your club and other clubs. This is optional for Clubs and costs only $100 per team (players, coach, referee, team manager). Payment for the BBQ is due with team entries on 7 December SATURDAY NIGHT BBQ ENTRY IS TO BE PAID TO GEELONG MARLINS WATER POLO CLUB: BSB: ACCOUNT NO (This provides team entry to the BBQ for all players, team manager, coach and club referee.) Sunday morning breakfast Join us first thing on Sunday for our traditional egg and bacon breakfast poolside, available to players and officials. We are planning on having the medal games live streamed again this year. 4

5 2016 VJCC Rules All competition game will be conducted under Water Polo Victoria s Competition By- Laws (Nov 2011) and Judiciary Policy (Oct 2012), or any updated versions. The FINA rules will be employed at the 2016 Victorian Junior Club Championships as follows: Rules for 16 and under Teams may nominate a maximum of 13 players, with only 11 of those players eligible to play in a game, and a minimum of 9 players. Number of players in water is six, one of whom shall be the goalkeeper. Rules for the 14 and under and 12 and under A minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 12 players per team for each game. Every player must play a quarter of the game within the first half, except in the instances of injury and players fouled out. On exclusion no timeframe is applied, the player must swim to the re-entry box, rise to surface within the box then re-enter. No shot on goal from a free throw. After receiving a foul, the centre forward and the centre back must swim out allowing for a new centre forward and centre back. Note: the pressing rule will not apply.
