READY FOR THE FUTURE TOGETHER CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DEMERSAL FLEET

GETTING STARTED TOGETHER In 2015, Cornelis Vrolijk launched its policy plan for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ready for the future together. This plan indicates what we stand for as a company, and is primarily focused on the pelagic activities within our business. Our aim is to develop plans, in a step-by-step process, for the other activities within Cornelis Vrolijk. It is therefore with due pride that I am able to present you with our CSR policy plan for the demersal fishery. Since the takeover of Rederij Jaczon in 2005, the demersal fleet has become an important part of the Cornelis Vrolijk group. As is the case for our pelagic fishing, the primary operating principle within our demersal fleet is responsible fishery. We are faced with unique opportunities, threats and challenges. We carefully monitor developments confronting us and operate according to our own strengths and our own beliefs. Those beliefs are all about the contribution we can make to the food security of millions of people. We do this with dedicated and proud people. We stand for continuity whereby we treat the world around us with the utmost respect. For us as a family business that is what CSR is all about: taking responsibility for guaranteeing the continuity of our business, our employees, the fish stocks we use and the communities in which we operate. This CSR policy plan describes numerous examples of how we will put those principles into practice in the coming years in our demersal fishing. Together with our skippers and crew we will all continue to put our best foot forward to catch and process on-board the tastiest, freshest and sustainably caught fish. This policy plan is a living document. I recognise the huge importance of your contribution to the further development of our CSR policy for the demersal fleet. If you have any ideas for smarter, more environmentally friendly or safer working practice, please share them with one of the contact persons for each of the policy pillars or with Aukje Coers, our CSR manager. After all, Corporate Social Responsibility is something we all work on together! Annerieke Vrolijk 2 3

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) This CSR policy plan is aimed at our demersal fishery and is an integral part of a series of CSR policy plans. The first CSR policy plan, drawn up in 2015, focused on our pelagic fishery in European waters. Work has been underway on CSR plans for our other fishery activities, since JACZON S DEMERSAL FISHING Jaczon, since 2005 part of Cornelis Vrolijk, has built up more than three decades of experience in demersal fishery. This fishery focuses on flatfish and other bottom-dwelling species. At the start, the Scheveningen-based business worked in joint venture with demersal trawler owners. In 1996, however, Jaczon had its first own demersal trawler built, the SCH-65 Quo Vadis, and since that time the company s fleet has continued to expand. It all started in the 1990s with beam trawlers, fishing for sole and plaice. The fleet was soon expanded to include twin rig and fly shoot vessels. In 2010, all our traditional beam trawlers were equipped with new gear for the innovative pulse technique. Although pelagic fishery continues to be the core business, the fishing of demersal species has grown to such an extent in recent years that it too represents an important part of the business. Now, in 2017, our fleet of demersal trawlers consists of 13 vessels, sailing under Dutch, Belgian, French and English flags. Depending on the season, these vessels operate from different, mainly Dutch ports. The fishery is based in the North Sea and the English Channel. In total, our demersal fleet is manned by around 80 crew members. MARISA IN SURINAME In 2016, Cornelis Vrolijk broadened the horizon of its demersal fishery activities with a participation in the Marisa fishing company, based in Suriname. This company is active in a mixed fishery for a whole variety of tropical fish species. Together with our partners, our goal is to achieve sustainable growth for this business based just outside Paramaribo. In 2017, the Suriname-based fleet consisted of 10 vessels, and in total the company offers employment to around 70 people. CORNELIS VROLIJK HOLDING BV The foundations for Cornelis Vrolijk were first laid in 1880, when Frank Vrolijk founded a herring-trading business in Scheveningen. Since the start of the 20th century, the company focused on fishing and trading North Sea herring. In the early 1950s, part of the company moved to IJmuiden and started to operate under the name Cornelis Vrolijk s Visserij Maatschappij BV. At the end of the 1970s, the original herring fishery was expanded to include mackerel and horse mackerel. The company established fishing activities from the United Kingdom with its subsidiary North Atlantic Fishing Company (NAFCo) and from France with its subsidiary France Pélagique. Through a participation in Primstar BV, Cornelis Vrolijk has also been involved in fishing for and farming prawns, since the mid- 1990s. The fishing operator Jaczon BV was acquired in 2005, a move that represented a considerable expansion of the business by adding new activities, including demersal fishing. Finally, two more fish processing companies were welcomed in 2016: Jac. Den Dulk & Zonen in Scheveningen and Seafood Parlevliet in IJmuiden were acquired, so that Cornelis Vrolijk is even more strongly represented in the From Ship to Shelf fish supply chain. 4 5

OUR FAMILY BUSINESS AND CSR The fishing industry has withstood many a storm. The world around THE 4 PILLARS OF OUR CSR POLICY OUR MISSION With our fishing activities we provide an important contribution to the food security of millions of people. We do this, as a family business, with a focus on future generations while maintaining healthy fish stocks, minimising environmental impact and with committed and proud people. We stand for continuity whereby we treat the world around us with the utmost respect. us changes rapidly, which greatly influences our company and the environment we work in. As well as the need to respond to these changes, our CSR policy has also been developed as a vision on continuity in terms of society, ecology and economy. In other words, attention for people, planet and profit. Continuity requires a sound financial basis for our company. Our revenues are based on utilisation of a natural resource, which makes us dependent on nature. As our catch opportunities can vary from year to year, it is necessary to build up a financial buffer so that reserves are available for lean years. To be able to continue to sell our fish products now and in the future, we are investing in innovative technologies aimed at maintaining our products quality, food safety and sustainability. We pay regular attention to maintaining and modernising our ships, which often entails high costs for the acquisition and renovation of our equipment. We can only continue to do this by maintaining a strong financial position. We also invest further afield, for example in improvements in the logistic chain or organising knowledge transfer in the less developed countries where we operate. HEALTHY FOOD FISHING FOREVER Being in the fishing industry is something we are very proud of. We invest time and energy in supplying the best quality fish and seafood products, as we aim to be recognised as a quality supplier (see pillar 1: healthy food). We can only secure our fishery activities for future generations if we look after the marine ecosystem and reduce our environmental impact as much as possible both at sea and on land. Taking account of the survival of the ecosystem is essential in retaining healthy fish stocks and thereby securing the continued existence of our business. We wish to be pioneers by developing and using innovative fishery techniques, using sustainable and recyclable material, and reducing CO 2 emissions (see pillar 2: fishing forever and pillar 3: daily sustainable). Committed, proud and enthusiastic employees are the keys to our continuity. We therefore pay the greatest attention to creating safe and pleasant working and living environments. We also aim to make a positive contribution to social developments within the local communities where we operate (see pillar 4: care for people). By operating an economically strong company we offer job security to our employees and fishing partners and remain an attractive employer for the future. It also enables us to make structural investments in the safety and training of our staff on shore and at sea. In other words, generating profit is a condition for the success of our business, but is not the only goal we have set ourselves. Profit is also a means of helping us achieve our CSR goals. This policy document describes our CSR goals in terms of ecological and social sustainability for our demersal fishery activities. This policy is based on four pillars that tie in with our social role and position. DAILY SUSTAINABLE CARE FOR PEOPLE The following sections describe the most relevant subjects in respect of our demersal fishery activities for each of these pillars. The listing and prioritisation of these subjects were established with input from people within the company and by researching topics of interest in society at large. For each of the pillars we describe the relevant subjects, the targets for 2022 and examples of activities we plan to launch in Each year, we will draw up a balance sheet detailing the progress of the planned activities and draw up a new, updated activity list for the coming year. We will also report each year on the results achieved. To ensure the future measurability and monitoring of the results we achieve, we have defined Performance Indicators (PIs) for each pillar. 6 7

PILLAR 1 HEALTHY FOOD The North Sea, our most important fishing area, is one of the most productive and one of the cleanest seas in the world. It is a fishing ground for quality. Our duty lies in handling our catch with due care. Our demersal fleet enables us to supply our fresh fish to consumers throughout Europe. The fish is landed and sold via the auction in Scheveningen to numerous parties, from restaurants and fishmongers in The Hague and Zuid-Holland through to dealers who export fish as far as Southern Europe. To a great extent, the quality of the fish is guaranteed by the fishing methods we employ and the way the catch is treated on board. In around 2010, all our vessels were equipped with flake ice machines, thereby massively improving the freshness and shelf life of the fish. 8 9

HEALTHY FOOD BY INTRODUCING NUMEROUS INNOVATIONS OVER THE PAST 10 YEARS, TOGETHER WITH THE SKIPPERS AND CREWS WE HAVE MADE HUGE ADVANCES IN ACHIEV- ING MAXIMUM SUSTAINABILITY IN CATCHING THE VERY BEST QUALITY FISH. I AM PROUD OF OUR ACHIEVEMENTS! Eric van Linden Fleet manager Flyshooters OPTIMUM QUALITY CATCH In 2010, we ended the traditional boom trawler method for sole and plaice. The trawl booms on all our vessels have been replaced by the newly developed pulse system, combined with a SumWing. This new gear has brought numerous advantages 1. By reducing contact with the seabed, very little sand and few rocks make their way into the net, so the fish remain undamaged. This reduces wastage since the catch contains less unsellable (damaged) fish, while the sellable fish is of better quality. Because the pulse gear means that relatively higher numbers of sole are caught, the nets need to spend relatively less time in the water to catch the same amount of fish. This too improves the quality. As a rule of thumb, our large demersal trawlers operate a trawl of not more than one and three quarter hours, while the small demersal trawlers trawl for no longer than 75 minutes. Another commonly used fishing technique is the fly shoot method. The most widely caught fish species are red mullet, red gurnard and squid. With the fly shoot method, the fish are encircled on the seabed by two long lines. At the end of these lines is a net that rolls over the seabed. The lines are gently rotated inwards, thereby raising clouds of sediment that force the fish into the net. As a result, there is relatively little seabed disruption by the net and the fish are brought on board the ship extremely rapidly, after just a short stay in the net. Once on board, the fish are stored in containers of water until they are processed. Within thirty minutes of being caught, the fish are on ice, in the hold. We also take care to avoid fishing for species in the reproduction season when the fish are with roe. The fish become very thin during this period and are of poorer quality. Plaice for example are avoided as far as possible in January and February. At Marisa in Suriname otter boards are used, with one or two nets towed behind the ship. This method catches a variety of demersal fish species. The catching, processing, storage and transportation of fish brings with it a series of special challenges in Suriname, partly due to the climatic conditions. In 2017, work will be started on a storage and processing facility on the dockside, by the company premises. This will considerably shorten the supply chain, making it simpler to guarantee the quality of the fish. Over the next few years, Marisa will also be focusing on improving quality processes on board its vessels. Training and technological innovation will play a key role. A solid start has been made on technology improvement over the past few years, for example by equipping the processing decks of the vessels with new equipment. 1 Other advantages than those mentioned here are a change to the catch composition, leading to fewer discards and a huge reduction in fuel consumption. For the crew, too, the new gear offers advantages, in terms of reduced physical workload. IN 2017/2018: Two vessels will be adapted for twin rig fishery, to fish specifically for plaice. In this way the catch quota can be utilised as efficiently as possible so we can supply the best possible quality plaice to the Dutch and European market. Storage and processing facilities are to be built on the dockside at Marisa (Suriname) to improve quality in the supply chain. We will continue to renew the Marisa fleet by building new vessels or having alterations carried out on board existing vessels. OBJECTIVES FOR 2022 For the demersal fleet, it is vital that the ships are able to continue fishing with the pulse beam method. Together with partners from the sector, we will therefore make every effort at a European level to generate support for permanent approval of this relatively new fishing gear. The entire local Suriname fleet and the factory must be equipped with modern technology and facilities to guarantee optimum quality. Ship crews and factory staff will be well-trained in the correct use of this new equipment. 2 Because the twin rig method fishes specifically for plaice, the quality is slightly better than plaice fished with pulse gear. This for example relates to the areas in which fishing can be carried out. In addition to this clear advantage, fishing with a twin rig is eligible for MSC certification

PILLAR 2 FISHING FOREVER Many of the fish stocks in the North Sea are flourishing. Responsible management over the past years has clearly borne fruit. Naturally, we in our family-owned business wish to be able to continue fishing from the fish stocks we currently fish, now and in the longer term. Our goal is to demonstrate the sustainable character of our fishery by obtaining certification for as many of our target species as possible. At the moment, for example, our twin rig fishery for plaice is MSC certified. Because demersal fishing is by its nature a mixed form of fishing, dealing with (unwanted) discards is a major challenge and a subject of permanent attention. In Suriname, too, this is a relevant area that deserves our attention because there, even more than here in the North Sea, the mix of species caught is very diverse. Although fishery management is less well developed in Suriname than in Europe, there too, we aim to guarantee a sustainable catch in the long term. One option is to investigate the possibility of obtaining sustainability certification (for example MSC). For the sound management of fish stocks, whereby overfishing is prevented, there are three essential requirements: 1 Scientific research into the size and productivity of fish stocks; 2 The setting of scientifically-backed quotas and other (for example technical) management measures and; 3 Compliance by the fishery sector with quotas and other legislation and regulations. Our goal is to deliver a proactive contribution in each of these three areas. Our Dutch demersal trawlers are affiliated both to the Nederlandse Vissersbond 3 and VisNed 4. As well as representing the interests of the sector, these two organisations are also involved in initiating and coordinating participation in scientific research. We aim to play an active role in such research projects. 3 De Nederlandse Vissersbond (Dutch Fishermen s Federation) = interest group for Dutch professional fishermen, owners and crews, in sea fishery, coastal fishery and inland fishery. See 4 VisNed = interest group for Dutch demersal fishermen affiliated to various producer organisations from Urk, Southwestern and the Northern Netherlands. See

2017/2018 We will continue to participate in the commercial survey coordinated by Wageningen Marine Research. We will be participating for the first time in the self-sampling programme by Wageningen Marine Research to gather and supply data about our catch composition (marketable fish and discards). We will take part in research aimed at avoiding the catching of whiting in fly shoot fishing. This project will be coordinated by the Vissersbond and will take the form of tests using cameras on the nets and a variety of net adjustments. FISHING FOREVER WITH OUR LARGE FLEET OF DEMERSAL TRAWLERS, WE ACCEPT OUR RESPONSIBILITY IN TERMS OF INNOVATIVE RESEARCH. FOR EXAM- PLE, WE ARE CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN TESTING SPECIAL ALTERATIONS TO OUR NETS AIMED AT REDUCING UNWANTED DISCARDS OF WHITING, AS PART OF THE COMPULSORY LANDING PROGRAMME. ANY KNOWLEDGE WE GENERATE WILL BE SHARED WITH THE REST OF THE SECTOR. Anton Dekker Fleet manager demersal trawlers SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH Because our vessels are at sea throughout the year, they can act as an extra set of ears and eyes at sea for the scientific community. The data we collect perfectly supplements the information obtained by the scientists in the international scientific surveys that are undertaken every year. Scientists are therefore always welcome on board our vessels. We are convinced that offering them this opportunity enables the scientists to carry out their research as accurately as possible, which in turn will promote the introduction of realistic policy measures. We participate in fishery surveys by Wageningen Marine Research 5 (with Dutch-flagged ships) and by Ifremer 6 (with French-flagged ships) which for example investigate the catch composition. For the past four years we have taken part in a scientific survey carried out by commercial vessels. In this survey, organised each year, the commercial vessels collect additional data that is used to improve the stock estimates for sole, plaice, dab, turbot and brill. We are also involved in research projects aimed at avoiding unintended discards. OBJECTIVES FOR 2022 We have contributed to demonstrating the safety and sustainability of the innovative pulse gear via scientific research, and the EU has granted permanent approval for the use of pulse gear, fully embedded in fishery legislation. Our unwanted discard level has been reduced by 25%, for example by introducing and developing net innovations. 5 Wageningen Marine Research (formerly IMARES) = the Dutch institute for applied marine ecological research; the organisation s objective is to gather knowledge and issuing advice on the sustainable management and use of marine and coastal areas. See 6 Ifremer = Institut français de recherche pour l exploitation de la mer. See

2017/2018 We will continue to be involved with the NSAC and NWWAC in discussions on policymaking. We will identify our relevant stakeholders and take the initiative in intensifying cooperation. OBJECTIVES FOR 2022: We have established sound relationships with stakeholders, and maintain open dialogue with them on our fishery and our CSR policy. In Suriname, we have launched COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION All demersal trawlers are equipped with Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) so that government bodies and scientific organisations are always able to verify the locations of our vessels via a satellite link. It goes without saying that we do not catch more fish than permitted according to our quotas and that we make every possible effort to comply with national and international legislation and regulations. Fishing with prohibited (alterations to) nets is out of the question and any skippers who fail to comply with these rules must accept the consequences. During our fishing activities, the processed catch is notified to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (EZ) via electronic logbook systems, every 24 hours. In port, a consistent and precise registration system is operated to monitor the volumes of fish that are unloaded, whereby the NVWA 10 also carries out inspections with the purpose of registering the volume of fish landed. 2017/2018 We will continue to focus attention on compliance with existing and new legislation and regulations. We will enter into and remain in discussion with government bodies on the consequences we experience as a result of the introduction of the landing obligation, and where necessary look for solutions in the form of alterations to the regulations, where implementation proves impossible. OBJECTIVE FOR 2022: Compliance with national and international legislation and regulations is studies into the feasibility of and remains self-evident, and is well obtaining MSC certification for one or more fish species. POLICY-MAKING Via the Nederlandse Vissersbond and VisNed, the North Sea Advisory Council (NSAC) 7 and the North Western Waters Advisory Council (NWWAC) 8, we are involved in continuous dialogue with scientists from national research institutes, ICES 9 and other stakeholders. The NSAC and NWWAC advise policy makers on managing fish stocks on behalf of the fishery sector and NGOs (including the Worldwide Fund for Nature and Stichting de Noordzee). 7 NSAC = North Sea Advisory Council. On behalf of stakeholders from the fishery sector and other interest groups such as nature conservation organisations, the NSAC offers advice to policy makers (in particular at EU level) on the management of North Sea fish stocks. See 8 NWWAC = North Western Waters Advisory Council. On behalfof stakeholders from the fishery sector and other interest groups such as nature conservation organisations, the NWWAC offers advice to policy makers (in particular at EU level) on the management of fish stocks in Northwestern Waters. See 9 ICES = International Council for the Exploration of the Seas. ICES is a worldwide organisation that promotes scientific research and issues advice on the sustainable use of the oceans. See LANDING OBLIGATION Our fishing activities are aimed specifically at target species such as sole, plaice, turbot, brill, gurnard, squid and mullet. Other fish species are unavoidably also caught. These species are sometimes wanted (whiting and flounder) and sometimes unwanted discards (undersized plaice or dab). Since 1 January 2016, the demersal fishery has been subject to the phased obligation to land every catch of quota species. Instead of a ban on landing undersized fish and fish for which the quota is exhausted, in the future, there will be an obligation to also land those fish. Since this represents such a major turnaround in legislation, we view this as one of the greatest challenges to the continuation of our demersal fishery. Over the next few years, we will focus on innovations such as the development of net adaptations to increase the selectivity of our fishing methods. Wherever necessary, together with researchers, government authorities and the inspection agencies such as the NVWA, we will consider whether alterations to planned and existing regulations are necessary to ensure that the introduction of the landing obligation is achieved. We will leave no stone unturned in working to avoid detracting from the intended goal of the landing obligation, namely to bring about the most selective form of fishery practice possible. 10 NVWA = Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. This Dutch government agency is responsible for supervision and enforcement in the fishing industry. See organised within the entire company

PILLAR 3 DAILY SUSTAINABLE We want to do business, while caring for the environment. That goes beyond simply preventing overfishing. We also make conscious choices when buying and using materials and energy. Only biodegradable cleaning agents are used on board our vessels to prevent harmful chemical substances entering the marine environment. Waste management is another key area of attention

2017/2018 Inventory of (im)possibilities for keeping separate (fished-up) waste on board in a way that causes no nuisance to the crew. Signing of the Green Deal Fishery - together for a Clean Sea 12 on behalf of our demersal fleet. Implementing a project to develop alternatives for the use of conventional lint. DAILY SUSTAINABLE TOGETHER WITH OUR ENGINEERS, WE ARE CONSTANTLY LOOKING FOR TECHNICAL POSSIBILITIES TO IMPROVE THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLINESS OF OUR OPERATIONS. SEVERAL YEARS AGO I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED MY CLOSE INVOLVEMENT IN THE INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW PULSE FISHING GEAR. OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS WE WILL BE FOCUSING OUR ATTENTION ON REFRIGERATION AND FREEZING SYSTEMS ON BOARD. Jaap van der Werff Technical Inspector demersal trawlers MATERIALS The logistics of waste processing and recycling are sometimes difficult to organise on land, let alone on board a demersal trawler, with limited storage space. Because we want to ensure that none of our waste ends up in the sea, we provide our vessels with facilities for the responsible storage of waste on board, until the vessel returns to port. Worn ropes and nets are stored and delivered to specialist companies for recycling. As well as processing our own waste on board, our demersal drawlers also sometimes fish up waste that has found its way to the seabed. This is automatically brought on board with the catch and ends up on the sorting conveyor. We strive to provide facilities on board so that this waste is also kept on the ship to be handed in for responsible processing when we return to port. In this way we help make the sea cleaner, every day. When fishing on the bottom, plastic lint is used to protect the fishing nets that are dragged over the seabed against wear. This lint, made from thin plastic filament, wears down and breaks off from the net, and as a result the plastic ends up in the sea. A group of sector organisations (fishermen, government, NGOs and researchers) are currently investigating possible alternatives 11. OBJECTIVES FOR 2022 We have introduced a sustainable alternative for conventional lint All fished-up waste is stored on board and deposited in port. 11 See 12 See twee-green-deals-voor-een-schonere-zee-enstrand.html

ENERGY We focus attention on minimising our CO 2 footprint by working with innovative developments aimed at reducing our energy consumption. The introduction of pulse fishing gear is an excellent example. With the introduction of this gear, fuel consumption by the newly equipped vessels has almost halved since Over the next few years, we will be concentrating on the use of refrigerants, as part of the transition to more environmentally friendly freezer technology. Over the past few years a start has already been made on this process, and the systems have been altered on five vessels so that 80-90% of the refrigerant has been replaced with a saltwater solution (brine) as a natural refrigerant /2018 During renovation work, the H-225 Northern Joy and SCH-63 Quo Vadis will be fully fitted with LED lighting. Implementation of a zero measurement of our CO 2 footprint (or LCA 13 ). OBJECTIVES FOR 2022: Our CO 2 footprint at sea has been reduced by 25% as compared to the zero measurement. All vessels are fitted with LED lighting. All vessels comply with the EU standards for the use of refrigerants. 13 LCA = Life Cycle Analysis. Method for calculating the environmental impact of a product. For more details, see for example Onderwerpen/L/Life_Cycle_Assessment_LCA/ LCA/Wat_is_LCA

PILLAR 4 CARE FOR PEOPLE Our 13 demersal trawlers in the Netherlands are crewed by around 80 people. In Suriname, Marisa offers employment to around 70 people. Within the pillar care for people, our first priority is working conditions on board. It is of vital importance that our demersal trawler crews are able to work safely. For independent operators, the fair sharing of the proceeds of the catch is of particular importance, and as an operator, we are extremely transparent within our partnership about how the shares are calculated. As well as considering our own crews, care for people means that we also consider the interests of the communities in which we operate

CARE FOR PEOPLE TOGETHER WITH THE CREWS OF OUR DEMERSAL TRAWLERS AND VARIOUS OTHER STAKEHOLDERS, I AM WORKING TO PROMOTE SAFE WORKING PRACTICE ON BOARD. TAKE FOR THE LIFEJACKET INTRODUCED IN THE TRAWLER CREWS WERE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN DEVELOPING THE LIFEJACKET WITH A FOCUS NOT ONLY ON SAFETY BUT ALSO WEARER COMFORT AND SUSTAINABILITY. WORKING CONDITIONS For our crew members, who spend a great deal of time at sea, we recognise the importance of limiting health and safety risks as far as possible during any fishing trip. We promote safety by means of technical alterations on board, while our crew members receive annual safety training. Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) such as helmets, life jackets, survival suits and fall protection harnesses are present on board, and our skippers ensure that all this equipment is used correctly. The introduction of the pulse fishing gear has brought about a substantial reduction in the physical workload for our crews. In 2015, a fulltime Health and Safety Manager was appointed whose task is to further elaborate a company health and safety policy. Since that time, for example, in consultation with the crew members, a state-of-the-art lifejacket has been developed, that will go into service in /2017 Together with our skippers, we will focus more attention on safe working practice, the correct use of PPEs and structural implementation of evacuation and fire drills on board. Together with the crew, on the basis of a recently drawn up Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RIE), an action plan will be elaborated for each vessel. Introducing new lifejackets developed together with the Vissersbond specially for demersal fleet crews. The new lifejackets are more comfortable to work in, and have an integrated rescue beacon that is automatically activated in a man-overboard situation. Making arrangements for introducing newly developed helmets across the fleet. The objective is to identify a helmet that combines optimum safety and working comfort with integrated communication equipment. OBJECTIVE FOR 2022: Our health and safety policy is always up to date Dirk Vink Manager health and safety 26 27

2017/2018 We will publish the availability of internship placements at fishery schools and will go in search of new methods of introducing young people to our company and our fishing activities. OBJECTIVE FOR 2022: Any crew member on any of our demersal trawlers is able, in just five sentences, to explain the relevance of CSR to our company and more specifically to their fishing activities. CARE FOR PEOPLE I AM PROUD THAT WE HAVE SO MANY PASSIONATE, CERTIFIED CREW MEMBERS ON BOARD OUR VESSELS, WHO TOGETHER OFFER A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE. WE STRUCTURALLY PROVIDE LEARNING PLACEMENTS FOR OUR INTERNS, AND MANY OF THEM FIND EMPLOYMENT ON BOARD OUR DEMERSAL TRAWLERS, WHEN THEY COMPLETE THEIR TRAINING. CREW MEMBERS HAVE EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE THEIR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, WITH POSSIBILITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT TO THE POSITION OF SKIPPER OR SHIP S ENGINEER. RECRUITMENT AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT We clearly recognise shortages on the labour market in our efforts to recruit technically skilled seafaring personnel. Fortunately, turnover within our crews is low. To guarantee sufficient intake of new crew members, we operate a structured programme with internship placements that offer young people an introduction to our company. This offers us the opportunity to identify talented individuals with whom we can work together. We proactively advocate this programme at (fishery) schools. We also offer everyone equal opportunities for personal development within the fleet, from intern to skipper. Our aim is to involve all our employees, both onshore and at sea, in our CSR initiatives. We expect CSR to be actively supported throughout the organisation and on board our demersal trawlers. Only in this way can we guarantee achieving our objectives while further developing our CSR policy in the future, based partly on the ideas of our seagoing workforce. Collin Ansink Head of Personnel department in Scheveningen 28 29

2017/2018 We aim to launch a programme focusing now and over the next few years on knowledge transfer to train crew members. We as a business will try to serve as a role model for emancipation by above all attracting women for responsible positions in the shore services. 2017/2018 We are permanently involved in local (fishery-related) events. OBJECTIVE FOR 2022: We as Cornelis Vrolijk have developed a structured approach to sponsoring and supporting good causes. OBJECTIVE FOR 2022: We have established a safe and sustainable fishery, guaranteeing optimum quality as standard practice within the company, made possible by the local workforce. LOCAL COMMUNITY IN SURINAME It is the joint objective of the partners in Marisa to ensure the growth of the business in Suriname over the next few years. In this way, we will make a positive social contribution by creating employment and if possible purchasing products and services from local providers in and around Paramaribo. Over the next few years, we aim to promote the sustainable deployment of the local workforce. It will be essential to organise suitable training programmes since it will initially prove difficult to find adequately trained and skilled personnel within the local community. Training will for example be focused on technical fishing skills, safe working practice, delivering optimum product quality and sustainable fishing practice. In collaboration with various social partners, we will look into the possibilities of developing a training programme. The focus will be on knowledge transfer, making use of Dutch experts in the various relevant fields. THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN THE NETHERLANDS We aim to fulfil a social role in the local communities that are so important to us. Scheveningen, the home port for our ships, naturally occupies a prominent position. Every year, we make between 900 and 1100 deliveries, which means that fresh Jaczon fish is available for sale in Scheveningen almost every day. The entire fish supply chain in Scheveningen benefits as a result. Also in Stellendam, where our demersal trawlers regularly visit for maintenance work at the yard, we work on long-term relationships with our regular suppliers. We are also involved in helping to organise and facilitate (fisheryrelated) events in Scheveningen, as well as providing financial support to local clubs and associations. We are happy to receive visitors from (local) government bodies, research facilities and educational organisations. These visits offer us an opportunity to explain and discuss our fishing activities with our stakeholders
