2 Welcome dear EFSA friends. It s is with great joy and pleasure to be able to invite you to the 8th EFSA Shore Championships This will be the 3rd time that The Netherlands will host the Shore Championships. The last time was in Domburg in anglers, fish with a running length of 339 meter. Of course we hope to catch even more this time. It will definitely not be due to lack of commitment on our side. Most of you who have been here before know of our lovely beaches. There is sufficient space on the beaches to place all the anglers. And even more space to practice from,seeing that the province of Zeeland has more than 600 km coastline to choose from. Headquarters will be in The Buitenplaats Hof van Zeeland in Heinkenszand on the island Zuid Beverland.. The venues will be similar to the ones fished in our last shore championships. You will have to walk a short distance, so travel light, but that should no spoil the fun. For the passed 2 years we have had lovely warm Octobers. But do come prepared for some rainy and very windy weather. Headlights will also be required as we will be fishing into the dark. 4 Practical information. The province of Zeeland with about 600 km of varied coastline has much to offer for coastal fishermen and other beach lovers.to dwell on these beaches is to enjoy clean white beaches with the most sunshine in the Netherlands. Annually now approximately.5 million holidaymakers find there way to Zeeland to enjoy the sea, the picturesque old towns and the many hiking and biking trails to be found.the west and south side of Walcheren with a coastline of about 22 km where the villages Domburg, Westkapelle, Zoutelande and Koudekerke lie, has beautiful sandy beaches backed by large dunes. The history of Zeeland goes back to eight thousand years ago.the ancient cities such Aardenburg, Middelburg and Veere show how prosperous Zealand once was. There is much reflected from this time in the form of monumental churches, merchant houses beautiful and rich city houses. Zeeland was in the 6th and 7th century an important province of the Netherlands and still is today. The majestic capital Middelburg exudes a rich past with its,00 picturesque monuments, impressive squares, typical backstreets and merchant houses with opulent facades. Middelburg has therefore most monuments per square meter in the Netherlands and is immediately a beautiful backdrop for countless shops and elegant boutiques. In Middelburg are many cozy markets where there is something to be found for everyone. Zeeland is also visited by nature lovers for its diverse natural characteristic with low-lying, swampy areas where birds forage and breed. Furthermore, there is a large variation in flowers, plants and fish. The watersports takes an important place in the recreation. There are 2 marinas with approximately,000 berths. Ships can sail on several large lakes and along the coast of Zeeland. Other sports such as canoeing and rowing, diving, water skiing and of course sport fishing are very popular in Zeeland. Culinary Zeeland has much to offer with many sea-related products such as oysters, mussels and fish. All are presented in various ways by the many welcoming restaurants Zeeland.

10 Championship Rules 203 Heinkenszand The Netherlands. The Championships will be run under the EFSA General Shore Fishing Rules in force at the time of going to print.the only time they may alter will be by dispensation asked for at a Standing Committee Meeting, or a rule changed by a AGM before the Championships. 2. Only one rod and reel may be used at the time, a second rod may be assembled but no terminal tackle attached. 3. A maximum of three hooks are allowed on a trace. No trebles are allowed.. Spare baited traces are allowed. 5. No wading above knee level. 6. Competitors must return to their peg on the foreshore after casting. 7. Pendulum casting is allowed 8. Anglers will be drawn into their zones at registration and must fish from their allocated peg as drawn at peg no. at their zone, one hour prior to the session. 9. The only bait allowed is the one supplied by EFSA Netherlands with NO bait additives. 0. Unused bait must be disposed of at the end of each session and not carried over. Competitor must offer the fish for measurement on the trace to a neighbouring angler and return the fish in plain sight of neighbouring angler (not from the same nationality) 2. All fish must be returned. 3. Competitors trying to increase the length of any fish will be disqualified.. Dead or damaged fish will not be accepted for measuring 5. Each angler must return their score card to the allocated angler at the end of the session and sign the mastercard for their score before leaving the zone. Failure to do so may result in disqualification. 6. Anglers must remove all litter, bait and dead fish from their peg on the shore at the end of each session. 7. The Organizers shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred during the Championship. 8. The relevant team captain must hand any complaint, in writing, to the Organizers within 3 hours of the end of the session. 9. All fish are measured in centimetres and must be over 5 centimetres 20. Mackerel, weaver and sandeel do not count 2. The protest committee will consist of Phil Lustig (EFSA HQ), Miranda Koop(EFSA Netherlands), and three other committee members from representing countries. 22. The results will be published 5 hours prior to the Prize giving. 23. Please use your common sense. We love to deliberate in the pub with a beer and not with the protest committee :-)

11 . General Shore Competitions.. Angling will be from a peg allocated by means of a draw, which will take place on peg of each zone every day.. Cometitors must fish from their allotted peg number..2 The start and finish of the match will be signalled by a whistle, or other audibly or visible signal..3 Competitors must not cast the line into the water 30 minutes before the starting signal is given.. Competitors shall not have in use more than one rod at a time. A reserve rod is allowed, but must not have terminal tackle attached. A maximum of three single hooks is allowed. Spare baited traces are allowed..5 Assistance may be given to land fish, but no one other than the competitor shall handle the rod, except for reasons of safety. Any fish which is foul hooked (behind gill cover) or hooked on more than one line is automatically. disqualified and should be returned to the sea immediately where practicable. This also applies to fish landed on lost. traces. The responsibility comes under the jurisdiction of the neighbouring angler..6 All competitors must bait their own hooks, cast and retrieve their own tackle/trace. Assistance is allowed with the extraction of hooks..7 Bait will be provided by the Organisers, sufficient for the day. Competitors are not allowed to use any bait other than that supplied. Any infringement of this Rule will result in automatic disqualification. Upon conclusion of each day s fishing any unused bait shall be disposed of and none shall be carried over to the next day. No bait additives or extract shall be permitted..8 All competitions are to be run on a catch and release basis and points awarded at point per centimetre, and 5 points per fish, and recorded on the competitors scorecard by the neighbouring angler or official steward. A fish must be recorded before another fish is reeled in. Teams must have their fish recorded by an angler who is not a member of their own team. It is a condition of entry that all anglers must be prepared to act as stewards. All competitors must have their scorecard signed by their neighbouring angler and must sign the zone master sheet before leaving the zone. Failure to comply will result in disqualification for that day..9 Fish may be kept in water, but any physical attempt to interfere with the size of the fish (e.g. extend their length) shall lead to disqualification of the competitor. The match organisers' decision with regard to the size of the fish at the time of recording, or in the event of any dispute not covered by these rules shall be final. A minimum size list shall be given to all competitors before the competition starts. All undersize fish must be returned alive immediately after capture where practicable..0 No allowance can be given for shrinkage occurring from the time of capture to the time of recording.. No competitor shall fish along the waterline closer than five metres to another competitor, other than by mutual consent..2 Any fish to be kept for culinary purposes must be over the minimum size and must have the tail removed once being humanely dispatched in full view of the angler signing for it..3 No competitor shall wade into the sea beyond their knees in order to cast and will then return to the beach.. No competitor shall fish in the match area in a period commencing seven days before the start of each day's angling..5 The match organisers have the right to refuse any entry..6 Double drawing of Pegs is not permitted..7 Any complaints must be submitted in writing to the match organiser not later than hour after the end of the match; the decision of the match committee shall be final..8 All competitors must return their peg to the zone official and return their angling scorecard when signing out..9 Any competitors who act in a manner considered by the organisers to be against the spirit of the competition or the interests of the other anglers and fair play, may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the organisers..20 Weavers, Mackerel, sandeel or launce cannot be weighed-in..2 A shock leader of minimum 2kg breaking strain and 7 metres long shall be used by all competitors..22 All competitors shall collect and remove their rubbish from the beach at the end of each day's fishing..23 The organising Committee and EFSA shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage, accident or injury occurring during the event..2 The organising section shall appoint a protest committee consisting of four members of separate competing nations wherever possible and an HQ officer if present.
