6 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE February 1, 2012 Greetings fellow trap shooters! The 109th annual Delaware State Trapshooting Championship is fast approaching and will be contested over Memorial Day Weekend. The Farmer s Almanac has promised me fair skies and warm temperatures, so make your plans now. And, don't forget you can squad in advance by visiting from the comfort of your favorite recliner beginning in April. For details, please see pre-squad details inside this guide. I would first like to thank Delaware Trapshooting Association s board of directors for their continued hard work and dedication. These individuals have helped to ensure a successful and enjoyable Delaware State Championship this year. On behalf of Delaware Trapshooting Association, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Ohmer Webb and his staff at the Millington Sportsmen s Association for hosting our state championship over the past several years. The Delaware Trapshooting Association, and trap shooters from Delaware and neighboring states, wish to extend a sincere thank you for your time and efforts. Over the next year, my goal is to bring the Delaware State Championship back to Delaware in the near future. It is important that as Delaware shooters, we support our local organization, the Wilmington Trapshooting Association. WTA has completed extensive improvements that include renovated trap houses with concrete roofs, PAT trap machines, and a new highway access. WTA has undergone renovations to infrastructures that will enable the club to successfully host a major event like our annual four day state shoot. Remember WTA is our only club throwing ATA registered targets in the great state of Delaware. The program following this letter contains event descriptions, rules, guidelines and other information you may require to participate in this year's state shoot. Please remember to visit the advertiser that helped make this shoot book possible. I look forward to seeing you on the line over the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend. Good luck and great shooting to all shooters! Best regards, Bill Alfree Page 5

Options and Payoff s The cashier will not be responsible for errors in scores after the options have been figured and posted on the scoreboard. It is the shooter s responsibility to check the scores posted on the scoreboard. Payoffs for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday events will be available on the following day. Payoffs for Monday s events will be mailed. A payoff sheet will be mailed to all shooters. Detailed records of the shoot will be retained for a period of 60 days following the shoot s completion. Any inquiries must be forwarded to the cashier before the end of that period. Bob & Jack Aldridge Shooting Sweater Lucky Number Draw: All shooters that complete Event 6 will be eligible to win a Skookum shooting sweater of their choice of color and size. After the preliminary Handicap is finished a number from zero to nine will be drawn and all shooters who have a total score ending in that number will be in a shoot off for the sweater. See page 3 for complete rules of this promotion. Atlantic Tractor Grill Lucky Number Draw: All shooters that complete event 10, will be eligible to win a John Deere, Propane Gas Grill. After the completion of the Championship Handicap a number from zero to nine will be drawn. All shooters that have a total score ending the number drawn will shootoff for the Grill. See page 3 for complete rules of this promotion. Page 37

38 State Shoot 2012 Delaware Bank System For events 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10, the DTA will utilize a 6 bank system, comprising 2 traps per bank. The number of banks necessary each day will be determined by the shoot management. Shooters will shoot 50 targets per trap. Shooters in the singles and handicap events will shoot 5 shots per post with the squads going around twice on each trap. Shoot management request s that all competitors take 50 shells to the line for all singles And handicap events to help complete the events quicker due to the reduced number of Trap banks this year. A bank spillover system shall be in effect throughout the entire shoot program. Should any particular bank (or banks) have an excess of squads, those squads determined to be in excess shall be reassigned to the next closest bank to equalize the banks and ensure a smoother and timelier event for all participants. The banks will be kept evenly balanced throughout the shoot as determined by the Shoot Management Delaware State Shoot Squad/Bank Assignments Bank 1 Bank 2 Bank 3 Bank 4 Bank 5 Bank 6 Practice # shooters Traps NOTE: actual layout Banks 1-6 from left to right facing trap houses CLUBHOUSE Page 38

39 Pre-Squadding Information In 2012, PreSquad.com will be used for presquadding for the entire tournament. Shooters will simply log onto the site and follow the easy, step-by-step instructions. Shooters are encouraged to visit the site and become familiar with the procedure. There is a mock sign-up feature which will allow you to try the system and see how easy and convenient this method is. This year, the DTA will waive any presquadding fees and we encourage shooters to use this feature to ease the lines and waiting at the squadding windows. As in the past, the name & ATA number of each shooter squadded will be required. After squadding, a printout is provided with a confirmation number. Pre-Squadding will be available in the middle of March 2012 and will close in early May More detailed information will be forthcoming on our website as the tournament draws near. Announcement This program will absolutely govern the tournament. The ATA rules will govern all points not otherwise provided for. Annual DTA Meeting The annual meeting of the Delaware Trapshooting Association, Inc., will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday, May 26, 2012, following the conclusion of Event # 7. This meeting will include any general business and the election of all DTA Officers/ Directors and the Delegate and Alternate Delegate Delaware State Team and High Average Minimum Target Requirements Singles: 2000 Handicap: 1500 Doubles: 1000 Revised 2/15/2012 Subject to change without advance notice Page 39
