Course Etiquette GENERAL INFORMATION All Players are required to report to the Pro Shop at least 15 minutes before teeing off. If unable to take your place in the field, please notify the Pro Shop as early as possible. Members living on the estate who wish to start on other than the 1st or 10th tees must advise the Pro Shop before commencing. Due to ongoing problems members who do not advise the Pro Shop may be called before the committee to explain their actions and be dealt with accordingly. Members, including those living on the estate, are not to use any part of the course as a specific practice facility irrespective of the convenience of a particular fairway or green. Members must use the practice facilities available for this purpose. Practice rounds are, of course, permitted. Please use the toilets which are provided on the 6 th and 13 th holes. Urinating on the course is prohibited. All carts must be driven at all times by a licensed driver. Carts must be driven on paths where practicable. 7

Carts to be kept off the tees and not to be driven within 10 metres of greens and / or beyond the black lines. Mobile phones, except those belonging to a doctor or similar must be switched to silent mode/off whilst on the golf course. Members and visitors are not permitted to look for or retrieve balls in lake areas other than their own or their partners which have been lost in the playing of the hole. Taking or playing on the course with range practice balls is prohibited. Members found with range balls in their possession will be called before the committee to explain. The player with the lowest handicap in a group is responsible for the observance of the Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Course Etiquette. All players are required to carry a sand bucket to fill all divot holes, including those on tees. Ball Marks on greens are to be repaired before leaving the green. Foot and Club marks are to be raked before leaving bunkers. Players should refrain from walking up faces of bunkers except when playing shots. 8

Players searching for a ball should signal the players in the group behind them to play through as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball will not easily be found. They should not search for five minutes before doing so. Having allowed the group behind to play through, they should not continue play until that group has passed and is out of range. (NOTE: The only purpose of calling up and going through is to save time and keep the field moving - common sense is to prevail in the interpretation of this procedure). Slow Play competitive rounds should be completed in no longer than 4 1/4 hours. To ensure slow play does not have an effect on members games, please ensure that you do not lose ground in relation to the group in front of you. In normal circumstances you should be just behind the group ahead not just in front of the group behind you. The following time saving measures should be taken. Walk immediately to your ball and play if there is no danger of personal injury. Always play your own ball before looking for any fellow competitor s ball. If held up in front, use this time to make club selection and practice swings. Pick up immediately when you have failed to score in Par and competitions. When reaching the 9

green, leave your bag or cart placed for immediate movement to the next tee. Player with the honour must hit off before marking card if fairway ahead is clear. Course Safety The Work Health Safety Act requires a safe working environment to be maintained on the golf course. Would members please follow the procedures outlined below to prevent injury to green staff:- when the flag has been removed, the green is out of play. Players are not to hit to the green until the flag is replaced. Players must wait for an approaching vehicle or mower to pass behind or out of range before playing their shot unless they are called on to play their shot by the driver. In all other situations, players must receive acknowledgment from green staff who may be in range before playing their shot. Failure to comply with these procedures could result in prosecution under the Act. Child Protection Policy All McCracken Golf Club Members are responsible for maintaining a safe culture for children and young people participating in sport. The McCracken Committee has appointed Child Protection Officers who are familiar with 10

existing state and federal requirements relating to children in sport, as well as other aspects of children s welfare and safety. The Child Protection Officers, Barry Calaby and Avril George can be contacted via the Pro Shop or by using their contact details at the front of this Handbook. Extreme Weather Policy Refer website or notice board for the complete current policy. Should the forecast temperature for Victor Harbor be in excess of 37 degrees Celsius according to a reading from the Bureau of Meteorology at 12 noon on the day before any scheduled competition or event for the McCracken Golf Club, play may be reorganised and members notified via the website or . An alternative competition may be held with 7am to 9am tee-off times. It will be stressed to members that playing in any competition is not compulsory. All final decisions will be by the Match Committee. Extreme Weather When extreme weather is forecast, other than shown above, the Match Committee will initiate procedures and monitor the weather. Extreme weather may be defined as weather that threatens the immediate or long-term safety of individuals, as a result of rain, lighting, wind or heat. Rain 11

If it is raining, play/competition may be discontinued for the period of up to half an hour and conditions reassessed to determine whether play should continue. Lightning All thunderstorms produce lightning and are dangerous Any time thunder is heard, the thunderstorm is close enough to pose an immediate lightning threat.. In the case of thunder being heard, course unplayable, extreme heat, or winds at a dangerous level, the highest rank available of the Chain of Command will sound one long blast of the siren/hooter (stored in the pro shop) to suspend play. Play can only resume when conditions are deemed safe or the course is playable. If any thunder clap is heard, at least 30 minutes must elapse after the last thunder clap before resumption of play. Play can be resumed by sounding 3 short blasts on the siren/hooter. The only safe areas within the grounds of the resort are the main buildings of the resort including the conference centre. Dress Rules Dress rules for all players on the golf course are outlined below and on the scorecard. Dress rules must be adhered to by all members and their guests. 12 Shirts must have a collar. No track suit pants.

No board shorts or football style shorts. No walking or hiking boots. Motorised Carts Members using their own carts must display a current member s sticker on their cart. Annual cart levy applies and is set by the McCracken Country Club. Members using motorised golf carts must follow the McCracken Country Club Cart Policy and the McCracken Golf Clubs Conditions of Play as listed on the scorecard. Carts must remain behind the black lines and must keep to cart paths where present. Scorecards As soon as practical after completion of their round, each player must place his or her score card in the competition box located in the clubhouse. It is the responsibility of all players to ensure their name, date, and correct handicap are clearly shown on the card, the correct score is recorded for each hole and the card is signed by both the player and the marker. 13

Local Rules Local and Temporary rules are posted on the notice board located outside the Pro Shop. Members should check the notice board for changes to the Local Rules before starting each round. Men HANDICAPS Divisions for all competitions are based on number of entries. If the number of entries is 70 or greater there will be three divisions. A Grade: 0-12 B Grade C Grade If there are less than 70 entries, there will be two divisions. Div Div If there are less than 30 entries, there is one division with a maximum handicap of

To obtain a first handicap a member shall submit 3 completed cards. These cards shall be adjusted by the handicapper by converting any score of more than 2 over par for a hole to exactly 2 over par (a player may thus pick up when 2 over par on any hole). After these adjustments are made, the cards are averaged. To retain an Australian Handicap, a player must have returned at least 3 completed cards in the 12 months prior to 1 st January each year. The maximum Australian handicap is 36.4 Handicaps: Your exact handicap is obtained by averaging the best 8 differentials (differential = gross score - AMCR/AWCR) of your 20 most recent valid scores), then multiplying that number by 0.93 and truncated to 1 decimal point. GOLF Link, which manages the handicaps across Australia, has posted a Q&A Page on their website which answers many of the common questions that golfers have been asking throughout the last year. For more information: Ladies Divisions for all competitions are based on number of entries. If the number of entries is 20 or greater there will be two divisions. Currently - 15

Division Division To obtain a handicap a player must submit 3 cards, which shall be adjusted by the handicapper by converting any score of more than 4 over par for a hole to exactly 4 over par (a player may thus pick up when 4 over par on any hole). After these adjustments are made, the cards are averaged. A player s handicap does not lapse over time irrespective of the number of games played. 16
