This will be the second largest event we ve hosted yet, next to the CBTU Gala. With the support of our members, we are hoping to make this year s tournament an annual event. Join us for a day of fun, while supporting initiatives close to the hearts of our members! Please register by July 20th, 2015 to guarantee your spot. 3 ABOUT CBTU For almost 20 years, a group of trade unionists has advocated to put issues of racism and discrimination higher on labour s agenda. A large part of this group eventually became known as the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. The CBTU continues to advocate for equality today, making concerted efforts and strides towards ensuring seats and equal opportunity for racial minorities on the CLC and OFL boards. The CBTU has grown into a multi-service organization, working towards providing children of our Black heritage alignment with positive choices and a brighter future. Positive choices are provided through the implementation of culturally appropriate learning and development programs, such as summer camps, education/ employment initiatives, youth development and mentoring as well as positive community engagement. CBTU has made a great deal of progress within Canada over the past 40 years, creating a new chapter and growing within the community. However, the work of CBTU members is never done. Poverty and equality never sleeps; we need to continue to work together as union activists and community leaders to combat these trends today and in the future.
