NEWSLETTER 2018 FAR SOUTH COAST & TABLELANDS GOLF ASSOCIATION

FAR SOUTH COAST AND TABLELANDS GOLF ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL REPORT 2018 It is with pleasure I present my report for The year did not begin so well with the horrifying bush fires affecting our district. I know we were all devastated to hear and see the damage in Tathra. The support you all gave to the district was amazing and I feel so proud to be a member of this wonderfully considerate area. My congratulations to the Mallacoota ladies who were fantastic in running the FSC & Tablelands Annual tournament in the absence of our secretary, Colleen, on the first 2 days. Despite our concern for those affected the Tournament went off without a hitch. Your resilience is to be commended. The dinner and entertainment was great. Well done. Again concern over cart hire availability was well handled by the Mallacoota committee. There were some from the region who opted not to play over this concern, which certainly alleviated some of the problem. I enjoyed playing in the following district open tournaments, Tathra, Cooma, Tuross Head and Mollymook. I have also played in the Narooma Triple course Challenge and the Coastal Challenge at Tuross Head. The Charity Day at Mollymook was excellent. The Pennant year was well represented by all clubs and congratulations to all the teams for your commitment to this event. Congratulations to the winners and thankyou to Bermagui for hosting the final. I attended the GNSW Road Show Forum in Narooma and found it to be an excellent way to meet and hear from those representing GNSW. I was pleased to see so many from our own district attending too. A reminder of the new rules beginning in January 2019, with a practice on the green outside was well received. Maybe your own clubs could have a day or time to show some of the new rules before the implementation in Vale: Patricia Margaret Davis. 2 nd October nd April Life Member FSC&TGA. Pat, and her husband John, lived at Jindabyne. Pat was a past member on the FSC&TGA Committee. Pat was passionate about golf and was known to many of you over the years. Jo Neal and I attended the funeral of both Pat and John at Jindabyne on 23 rd April, amongst many of their friends and family. They amazingly passed away a week apart. To all of our clubs who have had members pass away, my sincere condolences. I thank Tathra for hosting our FSC meetings during the year. It is very much appreciated. Thank you and well done to all players in our district. Your support to your clubs is so valuable to keep golf in the fore front of our community. On behalf of the FSC & TGA Committee I thank our untiring committee and delegates for their time and diligence during the year. Happy days and good golfing in the coming year.

Another successful year for the Bega Country Club Ladies in Although we are a small club in numbers, this year we have had several of the nine-hole ladies playing 18 holes regularly. We have a good number playing nine holes on Monday and Wednesday. Our Captain Wendy Hergenhan has certainly encouraged and fostered new players with successful newcomer days. Wendy Hergenhan has starred throughout the year both in Bega, at several Zone events and much further afield with lots of success. Some of her successes were NSW Senior Champion years, Southern Cup State Title and Canberra Cup. Wendy reached the Quarter finals of the Australian Amateur Seniors Title for years, where she was defeated in a very close match play contest. Wendy Hergenhan & Tammy Edmonds were the Foursomes champions again, this being the 10 th of the last 11 years. Club Champion was once again Wendy Hergenhan, with Kerry Carter winning Division 1, Barbara Ubrihien, Division 2 and Gay Ward was Division 3 winner. Handicap Champions were Div.1, Debbie Roberts, Div.2 Margaret Atkins and Robyn Kilkelly Div.3. We had a very successful year with a small team in the Open Pennants Competition for the FSC&TGA, winning the Southern Zone Title. We then played Narooma 2 at Bermagui in a tension filled day with a final win after the fifth match went to 19 holes. The Mixed Foursomes was well supported by our lady members. The winners of the event were Kerry Carter and Shaun Jones. There was a good representation from most zone clubs and a few from further afield at our Annual Tournament in August. Open Champion was Wendy Hergenhan and Wendy teamed with her long time 4BBB partner Sue Taylor from Queanbeyan to win this event. The Pat Ubrihien Salver was won by the Bega team of Wendy Hergenhan, Janelle Holdsworth and Barbara Ubrihien. We also held a NTP Shootout on the Sunday. This proved very popular and looks to be a goer for the future. We won our Interclub matches and the Jellat Cup against Tathra and finally we defeated Eden in our Interclub with them, first time for six years! The Singles Matchplay was won by Kerry Carter and Kerry and Maree Hergenhan were the Fourball Matchplay winners. Wendy Hergenhan was the only player able to represent the Club in the Golf NSW District Medal Playoff at Coolamatong where she was runner-up, but as the winner (Erica Hansen from Eden) was unable to attend the finals at Horizon, Port Stephens Wendy was nominated to go. Wendy won the Division 1 Country Scratch and was the Nett Country runner-up. The teams of Monica Cullen and Barbara Ubrihien and Maria Marr and Wendy Hergenhan represented our club at the WGNSW 4BBB v s Par at Mollymook. The Walter & Eliza Hall Charity, Patron s Day, both golfing and non-golfing Bring a friend day, plus several new player clinic days were held during the year. Our AGM in October saw no changes to the committee. Elected were Monica Cullen, President, Barbara Ubrihien Vice- President, Wendy Hergenhan the Captain with Robyn Kilkelly the Vice- Captain. Maria Marr, Secretary. Cath Griffin remains our Treasurer. Social Secretary is Kerry Carter and Pam Crooks is the 9 Hole representative. Barbara Ubrihien is Publicity officer. We have had representatives at most local Tournaments during the year, many with success from our players. Our catering committee with the help of members has catered at functions during the year. The Ladies continue to volunteer in the Friday night bistro, sell raffle tickets on Friday nights also, attend working bees on the course and assist with field starts etc. We continue to help the Men s Committee where needed.

Our generous sponsors have continued to support our club, as have many members, all greatly appreciated and a big thank you. The Club Bega Annual Ball Drop was once again held and was very successful. The funds from these events help with improvements on the Club house and around the course. The Ladies held a NTP Shoot-out which was very successful. We are lucky to have good Club staff and the work of the green staff is appreciated by all, making our golf days enjoyable. The social side of our Ladies Club is a very important factor and we find any excuse to get together for lunches or coffee. Our Annual Presentation Luncheon was held on Sunday 2nd December. We thank Club Bega for catering for the wonderful meal and the entertainment organised by the committee was first class. Looking forward to another good year of golf and friendship in 2019 for the Bega Golf Ladies. Barbara Ubrihien (Publicity Officer)

BOMBALA GOLF CLUB LTD 2018 What a year it has been. Drought, bushfires, wind and more wind. Many people will be pleased to see the end of this year. For many when the rain did come it always seemed to be on a Wednesday and our Ladies are too old to play in the rain so no golf the last few weeks. We all watched in horror the devastating fires at Tathra early in the year and all we could do was pray for their safety and that their homes would be saved. Our thoughts are still with Tathra as they start rebuilding their lives. CLUB CHAMPION FOR 2018 Handicap Champion Dianne Ingram Janet Cowell It was great excitement for both ladies. Di has been runner up for many years and Janet came back to golf this year after a 5-year break. Well done Ladies. Foursomes Champions. Foursomes Handicap Champions. Dianne Ingram and Heather Brown Joy Douch and Gay Kennedy 4 Ball Champions. Joy Douch and Eva L Estrange 4 Ball Handicap Champions. Heather Brown and Gay Kennedy Mixed Foursomes Champions. Handicap Champions. Dianne Ingram and Simon Stephen Eva L Estrange and Brad Yelds Joy Douch our 2017 Champion had the two worst rounds of the season in the Championships but had a successful year winning the Club Medal, Eclectic Trophy and many of the donated trophies. Besides playing golf the ladies were extremely busy with catering. This has been our biggest year and although we are all getting on in years they still step up and we are now learning to cater for the many with dietary problems. With the benefit of all our catering we have assisted the men financially with the building of a cart shed, purchasing another cart and other improvements to the club. In all it has been a successful year. On the down side we have not been able to find new lady members. Our Open Tournament in May was a success, but we would love to see more Clubs supporting our Tournament in Have a Happy Christmas and stay safe if travelling. Our Best Wishes for 2019 and may it be a better one for all. Dianne Ingram, SECRETARY

CATALINA COUNTRY CLUB It has been another busy year at Catalina with lots of improvements to the club house and course. A new deck has been added across the back of the club house overlooking the golf course. This is very popular with members and visitors as a place to enjoy a good meal or a coffee. There has been, and still is, major work to the golf course. Dennis Grounds and his staff are doing an amazing job of root and tree removal, along with the redesign of Hole #15 which we hope will be completed by March. Our golfing year has been very successful beginning with 19 ladies off to Mallacoota for the FSC&TGA Tournament. Catalina managed to bring home quite a few trophies but one player really stood out, Helen Neave, whose winnings included the Open 36 Hole Gross Snowy Mountain Cup and the Closed 36 Hole Mrs. PO Mitchell Bowl. Although not everyone was a winner, they still managed to have a great time. On our return from Mallacoota we went straight into our Foursomes Championship which was held over the next two Wednesdays. The scratch winners were; Division 1: Margaret Dickinson and Nikki Frank Division 2: Mieke Van Doeland and Robyn Kennedy In May we ran our 54 Hole Club Championship over three consecutive Wednesdays. This seems to work best for our players. Our Club Champion is Nikki Frank, Division 2: Jemma Rogan, Division 3: Margaret Maxwell. Our Match Play Champion is Margaret Dickinson, Division 2: Debbie Rogan, Division 3: Margaret Maxwell Along with the FSC&TGA Tournament, Foursomes Championships and Club Championships we had four teams playing in the Pennant competition. Although we were not successful, a good time was had by all, and the players enjoy the opportunity to play other courses. On 16 th July we held our Veteran s Open Tournament and although it fell in the middle of school holidays, we still managed to get a field of 68 players, with representation from 10 different clubs. The winner was Ellen Goodwin from The Highlands Golf Club, second, Nanette Childs Catalina, and third, Deborah Kimber of Kiama Golf Club. The weather was great and everyone had a good time. Our Open and Challenge Bowl which was held on 26 th, 27 th & 28 th October was a huge success with numbers up 30-40% each day. The weather could not have been better for golf. We had representation from 16 different clubs and really appreciated the support from FSC&TGA clubs, Mollymook, Narooma, Moruya and Tuross. I also want to thank the clubs that continually support our Open every year. This year the Catalina Challenge Bowl was won by Nowra. We were very fortunate to have Dawn Scott, our patron, be here to present the trophy and awards. Dawn and her golfing friends drove from Horsham, Victoria to be part of our tournament. She has been the sponsor of the Catalina Challenge Bowl since its inception and holds it very dear to her heart. We hope she can make it back again next year but we do realise it is a long drive. Catalina ladies wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in Oroya Mitchell Ladies Captain 2018/19

COOLAMATONG SNOWY MOUNTAINS This year Coolamatong Snowy Mountains has enjoyed the benefits of water on the fairways and greens. There has been an amazing amount of work done entirely by Volunteers to ensure that the course is in peak condition. Many visitors and players alike are reaping the benefits of a course that is probably in the best condition it has ever been. We are very fortunate to have the people within our club who are willing to put in the time and the effort to maintain, and in cases upgrade, our course to this standard. As always, with every club, Coolamatong has no juniors coming through the ranks. This is sad as we all know the game of golf is one of pleasure and yes pain, but it is a game that can be played at any level by anyone. So the need to encourage our junior players is of high importance to ensure that great clubs like ours are around for future generations to enjoy. Recently Coolamatong hosted the Rob Kneller Foundation Day. This was held in conjunction with the Jindabyne Bowling Club, and benefits children with sporting talent to realise their sporting dreams through scholarships. It is a par three day and there was plenty of laughter and enjoyment from the players that competed. A few of the holes were challenging especially one hole aptly named Uluru. Next time you come to Coolamatong, ask a member to explain where Uluru is and you will understand the name and the challenge that it brought. We also host a golf day on the L Tappe weekend. This day is very well represented and there are many outstanding sponsored prizes. Once again credit goes to our band of our volunteers who are always trying to find different ways of not only enjoying what our course has to offer but promoting the game of golf. This event is held on the 1 st Sunday in December and will be ongoing as the L Tappe bike ride continues in our region. Our open day was a great success and we are looking forward to holding it again this year. We had players from Canberra, Queensland and along the coast play in the 2 day event. The weather was great and the golf was fantastic. It was according to players a fun weekend. Congratulations, goes to Carolyn Major who is Club Champion for Unfortunately the Foursomes Championships have not been held by the time this is being written due to the event being cancelled and the need to hold it at a later date. 10 Coolamatong players went to Mallacoota to play in the Far South Coast Tournament. As is usual at this event, the golf stories were like fishing stories. The shots that could have been, the putt that did go in, and of course the putt that should have but didn t, wayward balls and various other out of bound shots. The camaraderie from every club that did attend was fantastic. Thank you, Mallacoota we all enjoyed your hospitality and the fact, that we walked away with Division 1 foursomes winners Virginia Logan and Vickii Roarty, as well as Division 3 winners, Maureen Rupcic and Elfie Doran made for even bigger fish/golf stories that night. We are looking forward to attending the next Far South Coast Tournament at Narooma and hope to see happy and familiar faces. Happy Golfing to everyone.

The Cooma Ladies have enjoyed another year of golf. We are a small club with 17 playing members, 13 of whom continue to test their skill at various times. Our membership dropped significantly this year due to a generation of ladies leaving us: age, illness and death being the main reasons. A pleasant summer enticed many to play in the early part of the year. Our January 9 hole competitions were reasonably supported but a drop in the numbers playing these was noted. Many also wanted to get into the 18-hole events. In autumn, when the weather is at its best, our 18-hole competitions were well supported but, in the winter, very few played. Spring has seen more returning to play. The Club Champion is Helen Crawford. The A Grade Champion is Gaye Wilson and the B Grade Champion Dorothy Bilbow. Val Leitch won the Nell Horsfall net event. Yet again, the weather has had a huge impact on our course this year. Drought caused the fairways to dry up, not quite a dust bowl as there was a cover of thirsty grass. We were able to keep the greens up to par but, of course, ducks and corellas have that knack of finding green grass. We have to acknowledge the work of the course superintendent and all the volunteers. Our new pump and dam system is working well and a fountain has even been installed. The course has been cleared of a number of dangerous trees and our creek line has been cleaned up. The spring rain has returned and greened up the course. We welcome all players at any time to join us and to experience golf in the highlands. Come and join us and feel the high country hospitality. Good golfing and season s greetings! The Foursomes Champions are Rulie Steinfort and Marilynne Weston. The Amy Martin Net Champions are Jenny Rainsford and Donna Smith. Our Annual Open Day was a great success. The weather on the weekend was delightful and we feel justified in moving the tournament into April! The Open Champion is Cheryl Gorman, Yowani. We wish to thank all of you who travelled to play and support our club. We look forward to seeing you again.

EDEN LADIES GOLF CLUB In our second year as a combined Eden Gardens Golf Club Committee, we are still finding our feet but are working well as a team. The FSC & TGA Championship held at Mallacoota in March was again well attended by our members. It was a great opportunity for our lady members to spend time together away from our own club. Our club had a few star performers at golf. Our club championships were played over three rounds in May and June. The Club Champion was Erica Hansen, Division 2 Champion was Shiralee Nicholls and returning golfer, Cathy Munday won Division 3. The Handicap winners were Vicki Sims, Judy English and Robin Skitt. Our Foursomes Championship over 27 holes was played in October, with Vicki Sims and Pat Fethers winning the Division 1 crown on a playoff from Ros Haenig and Janice Davidson, who won the Handicap event. Laura Walker and Robin Ventry were the winners in Division 2, with Robyn Skitt and Ann Schmitzer the handicap winners. This year we had one Open pennant team who achieved marginal success, without making any finals. To those ladies who travelled each week to attend pennant matches, thank you. Congratulations to all the winning teams. Janice Davidson and Anne Wilcox represented our club at the Annual 4BBB Par Championship district final at Mollymook. Congratulations to the pairing of Maree Hergenhan and Janey Morrison representing Tathra, who won the event and represented the Far South Coast and TGA at the final event at Bonville. Congratulations Ladies. Our Open Tournament and Silver Salver were played on Wednesday, September 5th. We again hosted a pink day for cancer research, with great success. Thanks to all the ladies who participated in the spirit of the occasion by wearing pink and making the day such a success. We had 62 ladies participate on a fine day with greens in excellent condition and only a hint of wind later in the day. Our Open Champion for 2018 is Maggie Hayes from Bermagui with a score of 86. Division 1 winner was Sylvia Donohoe. Division 2 winner was Janice Davidson from Eden and the Division 3 winner was Robyn Skitt also from Eden. The Silver Salver was won by the Eden team of Janice Davidson, Robyn Skitt and Hazel Saunders. The Overall Handicap winner was Lynn Ponsford from Bermagui with 75 nett. We thank our many sponsor and donors who make this event a success each year. Erica Hansen represented our club at the Golf NSW District Medal play-off at Coolamatong in October, where she won the Gold Medal. Unfortunately, she was unable to represent at the NSW Medal play-off in Sydney. Well done! Erica. We are proud of your achievement. We continue to have very successful interclub challenges with Bega, Mallacoota, Pambula- Merimbula and Tura Beach. These days are great opportunities for ladies from neighbouring clubs to have a social time and enjoy each other's company. The Eden ladies take pleasure in attending as many Open Tournaments as we can and always have a great time when on tour. Our course continues to improve with our hardworking ground staff and a willing band of volunteers looking after the gardens and grounds. We look forward to lot or great golf and good companionship with all Lady golfers on the Far South Coast and Tablelands Janice Davidson CAPTAIN

MALLACOOTA GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB What a great year we have had, beginning with our ever popular 4-day Tournament in November. Each year we catch up with old friends and welcome many new faces. The highlight of our year had to be the hosting of the F.S.C. Tournament. Our small but dedicated band of members presented the Course, dinner and entertainment in a very professional manner. Our thanks must go to F.S.C. Executive for all their help. Our thoughts were very much with Tathra through all of this, and it was wonderful to see the golfing community coming together to support our mates. Also, Colleen who was an absolute trooper! Congratulations must go to Hannah Searl who was our "star" of the Tournament. Unfortunately, due to retirements and moving, our numbers are declining rapidly. We average 15 ladies on a Wednesday, and 8 on a Saturday. With no younger members racing through the doors one wonders where we will be in a few more years. Our Club Championships were held in May and Celia Wallace was once again our Club and A Grade Champion. B Grade was Glenda Weeks, and C Grade Yvonne Symons. This year we introduced a new 2 Round Foursomes Trophy, which was won by Carol Reinelt and Alaine Kent. Our Veterans Trophy was won by Celia Wallace. We managed to field a competitive pennant team in Open Division and enjoyed the challenge of playing on other courses and the camaraderie that is experienced. Our ladies represented us at many of the club tournaments and managed to have some success! The GaboCup was held, with Eden once again proving too strong on their course. I must thank all our wonderful volunteers who work tirelessly to improve and develop our course each year. No mean feat to keep an 18 Hole Course, with no paid staff, playable for 12 months of the year. We wish one and all the "Compliments of the Season" and good golfing for Glenda Weeks Mallacoota Captain

MOLLYMOOK LADIES GOLF CLUB 2018 was again a very successful year for Mollymook Ladies Golf. Our golfing year commenced with good numbers with a shot gun start on our Opening Day in February. Our playing membership has remained constant throughout the year, some retirements, some new members and some transfer of members between our Hilltop and Beachside courses. The Mollymook Women s 2018 Three Day Open achieved great player participation, with visitors from 29 clubs resulting in a field of 140 players for the first two rounds, and a similar number for our foursome s competition on the Wednesday. As always, we were very happy to welcome back many players from the Sydney region who have participated on a regular basis and we are especially appreciative of the representation from FSC&TGA clubs, Catalina and Pambula Merimbula who participated in the event. We hope to welcome many more FSC&TGA representatives at our 2019 tournament although we appreciate the timing of our event conflicts with the timing of some FSC & TGA District club championships. The 2018 winner of the Mollymook Open Salver was Maria Garay from Bonnie Doon Golf Club. The 2019 Mollymook Ladies Three Open will be held on 6th, 7th and 8th May, we hope to welcome many players from the FSC & TGA District to this event. Throughout the year Mollymook Ladies have contested at all the FSC &TGA District Tournaments with very good personal results. This year we entered two teams on the FSC&TGA pennant competition. This consisted of Division 1 and the Open Division. It was disappointing to many of our members that a Division Two competition was not held this year. The 2018 format precluded many of our high teens to high twenty handicappers from representing their club at pennant level. Thanks to all those ladies who volunteered their skills and time to make pennant a successful activity for our club. Although neither Team brought home the trophy this year it was a very well fought out competition with our teams missing the finals only by a couple of points. Our Foursomes Championship was hotly contested with the eventual champions, Bev Button and Trish Wickes overcoming Veronica Johnston and Christine Hadland after a threehole playoff resulting in a four-hole sudden death playoff before the winners could be decided. Our Foursomes Division Two Gross competition was also hotly contested and resulted in a three-hole playoff which saw Dorothy Buck and Beverley Glyde overcome Penny Paterson and Anne Buricod. The Singles Knockout Championship was extremely competitive and was conducted over all Divisions over a period of several months. Congratulations to all participants, but especially to Veronica Johnston who prevailed against all others to win the championship.

The 4BBB Knockout Matchplay finally whittled down a large field and was eventually won by Jan Tanko and Glenda Owers. Special recognition to Jo Woodward who was awarded the Captain s Trophy for This trophy is awarded to a member who not only has a good golfing year but who displays great sportsmanship and a high standard of club commitment. Jo s past achievements and ongoing contribution to the club throughout the year (and for many previous years) is warmly acknowledged. Our 2018 Club Champion is Trish Wickes. Trish has had a very successful golfing year and, despite the poor weather conditions over three of the four rounds she played excellent and consistent golf to emerge as the winner despite the closeness of the competition. Division 2 Gross Winner, Kris Harrod, Club Champion, Trish Wickes and Division 3 Gross Winner, Pauline Wilson Many thanks to our Golf Operations Manager, Barry West, and his staff for their invaluable assistance in our competitions and activities. Congratulations once again, to the Turnpoint Staff for their excellent and ongoing efforts in presenting our course in such great condition despite some trying weather conditions throughout the year.

MORUYA WOMENS GOLF CLUB Another great year of golf was celebrated by the women at the Moruya Women s Golf Club. The women mostly played great golf, appreciated our beautifully sculptured golf course and enjoyed each other s company throughout the year. In October, sadly we said goodbye to our longstanding member Gwen Murphy, but our memories of Gwen live on. Our numbers have been bolstered by new members joining us during the year. The more experienced players have taken the new members out onto the course and introduced them to the golf circuit. Improvement is very evident and the new members are now playing in our Wednesday competition. The goal for all members is to be alert to any women ready to commit to golf and encourage them to join our club. We are keen to welcome all interested players in our district. The committee, along with the match committee are committed to organising an array of different golf games throughout the year. There are an amazing variety of events planned throughout the year. Par, stroke, stableford are the norm, but in addition competitions include medal and trophy events, along with the more relaxed format of Ambrose and Canadian foursomes. Our golf is also highlighted by the many tournaments held across the Far South Coast. Our women enjoy visiting and participating in these Open Golf Tournaments. It allows women to meet other golfers and enjoy the company and hospitality. Moruya women encourage our district clubs to join us at our Annual Open in August Our Golf Participation and success in The Moruya Women s Golf began the year with an Open Day 3 person Ambrose in the first week of February. This was a relaxing event but provided an opportunity to revitalise the golf swing after the summer break. The FSC and TGA tournament was held in Mallacoota with 6 women representing our club. Although we were not listed in the major prize winners this year, we featured in a fun night at the evening celebration, where our Moruya women took the opportunity to join in with the theme of the night. The outstanding feature from the past year was the Moruya Women s Pennant Division 1 team of Mindy Asbury, Dee Meek, Barbara Kennedy, Marie Muriwai, Robyn Hawkins, Christine Edwards and Noeline Cowdroy. This team won Northern Division. They went on to play the winners of the Southern Division and defeated the Tura Beach team at Bermagui to be the outright winners of Division 1 Pennant CCONGRATULATIONS from the entire Moruya Golf Club for achieving this outstanding result for Moruya. The Open Team also represented Moruya and gained good experience from the competition, recording a mix of very good wins and some almost wins to balance out the season. The MWGC Open Championship event we held over 3 consecutive weeks in May. Congratulations to our winners as follows Club Champion: Jan Lumsden Division 1 Scratch: Dee Meek and Sharon Knight Division 2 Scratch: Noeline Cowdroy Division 3 Scratch: Judi Hebbard The MWGC Foursome Championship was held in June. Winners were Division 1: Dee Meek and Sharon Knight Division 2: Shirley Noy and Annette O Connell

The Jenny Oliver match play competition, open to all women in the Moruya club is played from mid-year through to the following February. The event provides members a good opportunity to experience match play competition similar to pennant play. This year s winner was Margaret Douglas. A highlight of our golfing calendar is the Open Championship event held in August. The weather was a little against us on that weekend being a little chilly and windy, but the visiting ladies participating offered many commendable comments on our course. The fairways were in excellent condition thanks to the efforts of our greens staff. They presented the course at its best. We look forward to welcoming women golfers from our district to visit Moruya for this event in It has been a wonderful year of golf: plenty of competition, variety in the fixtures, handicaps have fallen and gone out and stayed the same, but our women still come back to enjoy golf and friendships each Wednesday and Saturday. A big thank you the outgoing committee for 2017/8, who have worked hard to provide a schedule of golf that all members have enjoyed. The new committee for 2018/19 consists of many new faces, with some returning members to provide continuity. This committee will lean on our out- going President, Judi Hebbard; Captain, Noeline Cowdroy and Vice-Captain, Shirley Noy to ensure we present a unified and stable year of golf for all. Vivienne Thornett: President Robyn Hawkins: Captain

NAROOMA GOLF CLUB The Narooma Lady Golfers have enjoyed another successful year of golf during We saw the 2018 golfing year commence with an Awards Presentation for the Summer Competition players which was a great way to recognise successful off season play in readiness for the new year of golf. Sylvia Donohoe continues her amazing success in golf throughout our region and is our 2018 Narooma Club Champion and 2018 Seahorse Classic Champion which she won in an exciting 3 hole, sudden death playoff from Casey Cook from Tura Beach. Sylvia was also named Champion of Champions at the 2018 FSC&TGA Tournament played at Mallacoota earlier this year. Sylvia has recently added the Yellow Course Record to her impressive list of achievements and now holds all 3 Course Records, i.e. Pink, Red and Yellow here at Narooma, she was also selected to play for the NSW Team in the Australian Women s Senior Amateur Tournament that was held at the Sandy Bay Golf club in S.A. Narooma Lady Golfers saw the introduction of a Stableford Competition this year offered in lieu of any stroke round that is being played and it is proving to be quite popular. Thanks to the ideas and energy of one of our ladies together with the teaching skills of our Golf Pro, Colin Holmes, two beginner Golf Clinics were conducted this year and introduced a group of ladies to our wonderful game and we have welcomed some new members as a result of this initiative. The Narooma Club Champions for 2018 are: Division 1 - Sylvia Donohoe, Division 2 - Maddie Robinson and Yellow Course Maureen Casswell. Our Triple Course Challenge (the Narooma Ladies May Open) again grew in attendance and Sylvia Donohoe successfully defended her Pink Course Title. Narooma won the Triple Course Team Challenge for the third year in a row with the combined team of Dorelle Monteith (Pink Course), Lorraine McCarthy (Red Course) and Ris Cheale (Yellow Course).

Our 2018 Foursomes Champions are Sylvia Donohoe and Kay Lawrence who successfully defended their title and Division 2 Winners are Margaret Bennett and Mary Young. Our Gold Medal winner for 2018 is Jan Shevlin Narooma fielded three Pennant Teams this year: Division 1 and two Open Teams. The Open Teams battled it out for the top of the Northern Zone Table and it was the Narooma 2 team, captained by Jenny Walker, who finished in first place in the Northern Zone and met the Southern Zone, Bega Open Team in the finals at Bermagui. The ladies fought hard but lost 3-2 in the final. Despite coming Runners Up, all members of our team felt particularly proud as it has been over 30 years since Narooma had reached the finals. The 2018 Narooma Seahorse Classic played over 2 days was a great success with over 160 entries on both days from 25 participating clubs from around NSW and ACT. The weather was great although a little blustery on the Saturday and our course was in beautiful condition thanks to our hardworking green keeping staff. The Winner of the 2018 Seahorse Classic was our very own Sylvia Donohoe. Narooma Lady Golfers raised approximately $1000 for Cancer Research this year through our 3-Putt gold coin jar and our season ending fundraiser. We also raised approximately $900 for the Narooma Volunteer Rescue Association. Our ladies committee continues to support the Lady BUGZ through donations from special events and the 100 club so that the lady gardeners may purchase plants to continue to beautify our course. Narooma Golf Club has a wonderful band of volunteers both male and female who perform a vast array of jobs to ensure our club and course always looks in tip top condition. We welcome and encourage new golfers to come and join our beautiful club. On behalf of all the Lady Golfers at Narooma, our best wishes to all for the Festive Season and we look forward to seeing you at the FSC&TGA Tournament to be held here in Narooma, in March Jennifer Walker Publicity Officer

PAMBULA MERIMBULA GOLF CLUB Thank you for giving me the opportunity to report on the Ladies Golfing year at PMGC as my first year as Captain. We started the year with a wonderful turnout of 88 ladies for our Opening Day, with great weather and a delicious lunch, a great fun day was had by all. The numbers in our weekly competitions continued to improve throughout the year, until we came to winter, and the numbers have fallen off a little, so with the warmer weather just around the corner numbers should improve. Our 9-hole ladies comps are been well supported, congratulations to all the ladies who enjoy the shorter comp. This year we entered 2 teams in the FSC&TGA Pennant competition, an Open Team and a Division 1. I would like to thank all the ladies who made themselves available to play or to caddy who also backed up to play when needed. It was pleasing to see a number of new players nominate for pennant this year, next year we hope they can capitalize on the experience and bring home the silver ware. With all the different events during the year our club has been well represented, we have had ladies attend most of the FSC&TGA open days with some good results. The FSC&TGA Annual Tournament was held in Mallacoota this year with 10 of our ladies travelling down. We were well represented in the winner s circle, with Kate Walker and Cheryl Ramsay winning the FSC&TGA foursomes. Congratulations ladies well deserved. We had 14 ladies travel to Canberra for their Autumn Carnival. The ladies played Yowani, Federal, Gold Creek and Fairbairn. We continue to have Challenge Matches with our neighbouring clubs Tura Beach and Eden, unfortunately we lost to both clubs in the first round, but we were victorious over Eden in the return round and the silver ware sits proudly in our trophy cabinet. Our Ladies Challenge Bowl and Open was held on the weekend of the 7 th and 8 th of July with a magnificent entry of 131 ladies overall. On Saturday 113 ladies hit off in chilly conditions, which improved as the day went on. We were lucky enough to hold on to our winning streak and take out our Bowl again with the team of Kate Walker, Chris McMullen, Kym Helmers and Leonie Bell winning by 2 shots. Congratulations ladies. The weather changed a little on Sunday with high winds, the field was a little smaller with 101 ladies hitting off the Open winner was Lauren Maher from Queanbeyan with 79 off the stick. I would like to thank all those ladies who have made themselves available for duties behind the match desk it is a great help to me and my committee. Thanks, must also be given to all our trophy donors without your support we would not be able to run our Annual Tournaments or our weekly tournaments to the excellent standard that we do. To Pat Wilson and his staff also the many volunteers who do such a wonderful job on the course we thank you most sincerely, we have the best course to play on in all types of weather. What would I do without the excellent support from Glenn and his staff in the pro shop, thank you very much.

Entries for our Annual Week of Golf which is due to start on the 20 th October are coming in well. We are looking forward to another successful year with many old and new friends coming to compete. 19 2018 has been year of mixed experiences for the Tathra Beach Ladies Golf Club. We were in danger of losing the course and clubhouse when bushfires swept through Tathra in March destroying homes and property. We were most fortunate to only lose trees and shrubs along one fairway. As a "thank you" the monies raised, approximately $3,000, from our Easter Fair was donated to the local fire brigade. We are pleased to announce that Tathra, thanks to this wonderful community, has risen from the ashes and is slowly being returned to normal. 17th Fairway Midway through the year we were again at the mercy of Mother Nature when the Bega River mouth closed, causing three holes to flood. Due to the drought there was not enough flow from the high country to keep it open.so we had to be content with playing the flooded course for some considerable time. Eventually the mouth was opened by the Bega Valley Council. The mouth is now closed again but we are not flooded...yet. We have been having record numbers of players on both Tuesdays and Saturdays. Fields on Tuesdays are up to 60 players, with an average number in the 40's. On Saturdays the numbers are high 20's to low 30's. This has been helped along by the 9-hole Monday new players competition. upgrading to 18 holes when the feel ready. The Open Tournament, held in March, was won by Sylvia Donohue from Narooma with a score of 80 off the stick. The Murray Family Cup, in its 22nd year, was won by the Eden Club. The Annual Sea Breeze Tournament was won by Casey Cook with an unofficial course record of 70 off the stick. Official or not, it was a great round of golf. We entered Pennant teams in 2 Divisions but unfortunately weren't successful, but we will be back next year. Club Champion is once again Noeline Bell. playing off a 9 handicap Noeline had rounds of 87, 80 and 85 for a total of 252. Division 1 (Handicaps 0-22) was won by Robyn Brand. Handicap honours went to Faye Nicholson. Division 2 (Handicaps 23-28) the winner was Jan Meares. The handicap winner was Margaret Nall. Division 3 (Handicaps 29-45) went to Joan Hardy. Jan Waterson was the handicap winner. Achieving a Hole in One in 2018 were Marnie Nicholson on the flooded course 15th and Karen Enright on the 9th. Rhonda Castellari also aced the 18th in the Monday 9-hole competition. Rhonda will also be representing Tathra at the Golf NSW Division 2 Women s Medal playoff at Port Stephens this month. Two of our lady golfers made it to the finals of the Golf NSW Women s 4BBB state final played at Bonville on the North Coast. Maree Hergenhan and Janey Morrison, did themselves, and their club proud, by being placed third overall. This was a wonderful achievement by the pair. During the coming Summer, as well as the competition for the Summer Salver, we will be conducting a Shoot Out Competition which should be a bit of fun for all. We were saddened by the passing of our long-time Patron, Raynor Pitchford, in the latter part of the year. Raynor was a foundation member of the Tathra Beach Ladies Golf Club and she will be sadly missed.

TURA BEACH COUNTRY CLUB 2018 has come and nearly gone, and we are looking forward to a well-earned break from serious competition golf for a while. Socially, and golf wise, it has been a good year. We have lost some players and gained others. Congratulations to our Ladies Captain Myriam Van Hock on her becoming a Director on the Tura Beach Country Club Board. Shirley Dobson and her helpers continue to work hard with their newbies program. We have welcomed many from the group into our 18-hole competitions since it was created. Our loyal Sponsors were with us again this year and we appreciate their continued generosity. Tura Lady golfers are a great bunch, willing to be part of any challenge asked of them. On Street Challenge day, played the week before opening day, they have a choice of wearing 1 of 4 colours - Blue, Purple, Red & Yellow - colour denoting their street allegiance. This year Pacific Way in Blue won. Highlight of the day was a hole in one to Dee Douglas. Opening Day followed with more fun, trying not to lose the coloured ball. I will not attempt trying to explain the rules, suffice to say, it's different. Breast Cancer Day of course is Pink. Pink Day was most successful, socially, and in money raised for the Charity. Like last year it was around the $ mark to be donated by our Club. We played Ambrose and it was a great way to include some of our newer players into competition golf - playing in a team event. A visiting group of ladies from Victoria won the day. The course itself was a picture in pink boa's, feathers and balloons, on bodies, heads, and carts. We far outdid the bird life. Closing day, the course again will be a riot of colours again as members relax and celebrate the coming holiday season. Tura had a successful year in the Challenges against near neighbours Eden, Bermagui and Pambula/Merimbula, winning all three Trophies. All matches were closely contested and the fierce competition on the courses were followed by a great social atmosphere in the clubhouses after the games. Looking forward to next year s Challenges. Some of our players have travelled widely this year to District Open Tournaments, with some good results recorded, and we thank them for representing Tura at these events. The FSC&TGA Tournament, played at Mallacoota in March, saw a large group from Tura make the journey to play serious golf and enjoy the very social environment over the 3 days. They excelled in both these areas. To top off their prowess on the golf course the ladies really took the Flower Power theme and dressed the part flowers, beads, headbands, flared pants, you name it, they wore it. A very colourful group who enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks to the ladies who chatted and knitted throughout the year after their game of golf whilst waiting for the presentation announcements. We sent 240 red poppies to the Canberra War Memorial for the November ceremonies, 100 or so premmi baby beanies to the Canberra Hospital, and lots of knitted squares (made into knee rugs) to aid people in need. We are indeed a versatile group.

Now to all things golf and the results of our Major Events. NSW Women's Classic winners for Tura were Marg Watts & Helen Pearsall. Our winners of the Golf NSW Medals were Myriam Van Hock, Gold, Judy Macartney Silver, and Helen Coulter Bronze. Helen went on to win her division at Coolamatong and will compete in the finals at Port Stephens. Our yearly events were well supported, and we had many excited winners. They were. Tura Beach Ladies Club Champion: B Grade: C Grade: Div 1 Veteran Champion: Div 2 Veteran Champion: Best Nett Score over 3 Rounds: Casey Cook Helen Rowney Ann McDonald Judy MacArtney Ann McDonald Judy Macartney 27 Hole 4/Somes Champions: Lynda Plummer & Jenny Lasker B Grade: Joy Stewart & Deanna Scott Presidents Trophy: Captains Trophy: Handicap Managers Trophy: Medal of Medallist: Putter of Putters: Hole in One: Myriam van Hock Rose Amos Belinda Stone Jan Dobson Janey Morrison Dee Douglas The Tura Beach Open was played on Wednesday the 14 th November. Rain gear, so infrequently used all winter, was the fashion statement on the course. Some of the 98 ladies booked in decided not to play but the majority gave it a go. Casey Cook backed up on her win last year and again won the title with an excellent 76. Congratulations to all the successful players and to all who participated. Lunch, presentations, and raffles were all embraced with enthusiasm and ended another great day of competition. We hope your year has been as fulfilling as ours has, and that 2019 will be another year of renewed friendships. Good health and safe travelling over the holidays to all. May your Christmas be filled with laughter and good cheer. Till next year. Jan Dobson Publicity Officer

TUROSS HEAD COUNTRY CLUB LADIES GOLF REPORT has been a great year for the Golf Course. Draininge works have been very successful, concrete paths continue to be laid, new tee signage have been added, new sand bins on all tees and the beautification of gardens have improved the look of the course. All these improvements have given Tuross a look of professionalism. A big thanks go to our greens staff and volunteers and we would love to welcome everyone to come and play at our beautiful course. Tuross is now in the top 25 best 9 th hole courses in Australia. Our Club Championship is played over three days within a two week period and has proved to be a very successful event. Club Champion for 2018 was Marie Muriwai. Congratulations Marie. The Single Match Play games were played earlier this year and results were very close. This is a great way to get new players interested in pennant. Jeanette Miller and myself thoroughly enjoyed representing FSC&TGA at Bonville early this year and what an experience! Some of the ladies enjoyed playing the 4BBB vs Par this year at Mollymook. Tuross had eleven ladies compete in the FSC&TGA annual tournament at Mallacoota and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you Mallacoota for your hospitality. Golf NSW Medal Winner was Teri Swanbury and along with Annette Manton they represented Tuross at Coolamatong last month. Our Gold Medal winner was Teri Swanbury. The Foursomes Championship was won by Leonie Snodgrass and Gail MacAlpine. Numbers were down for our Open and Bowl Tournament this year and hopefully next year we will be able to entice more players from other clubs to come and play at beautiful Tuross. The Open Champion was won by Marie Muriwai playing for Moruya and our Tuross Team of Leonie Snodgrass, Leonie Doolan, Kay McLeod and Chris Wratten won the Bowl. Pennant for 2018 was a good format for Tuross being a smaller club and we have a number of new ladies looking forward to joining the pennant team in 2019.

This year we hosted the Coastal Challenge with sixty four entries from five clubs. We had a fantastic day and our ladies from Tuross consisting of Leonie Snodgrass, Chris Wratten, Judy Apps, Ann Challender and Ann Ware were the winning team. A very successful and fun day was had by all. We wish you all a wonderful Christmas season and look forward to seeing you all in 2019 on the course. Pauline Nash (Captain)

FAR SOUTH COAST & TABLELANDS GOLF ASSOCIATION INC. CAPTAINS REPORT TO THE AGM 2018 Good morning ladies and welcome to the Annual General Meeting for Whilst I am very happy to be here today, I must admit I am also a little saddened by the fact that I would normally have been on another jaunt overseas by now. This year work has gotten in the way and has had to take precedence. However, future travel plans look a little more promising. Enough about me, for it s all about you and your golf. We look back on 2018 with many happy experiences for some of our fellow golfers who managed to play exceptionally well in our varied calendar. We recognize some of their achievements and congratulate them. In February Bega Golf Club hosted the playoff for the FSC&TGA Association Medal. We thank them for their hard work in ensuring our day was a great one and that everyone enjoyed themselves. Congratulations to the eventual winners: Div 1 Kerry Carter (Bega) 78 nett Div 2 Veronica Coman (Bega) 80 nett Div 3 Chris Hendra ( Narooma) 77 nett Well done ladies. In March, we travelled down south to Mallacoota Golf Club for our 3 day Annual Tournament. We congratulate the Mallacoota ladies for all their hard work in preparing for the event and to their Club for presenting their course in great fashion for 3 days of golf. Much work goes on behind the scenes of a tournament and Mallacoota served us well. The dinner and entertainment were certainly a highlight. The event was overshadowed, of course, by the terrible bushfires at Tathra and some of the ladies were unable to attend. Well done to the few ladies from Tathra who managed to make the event. A mammoth effort on their part. I, personally, would like to thank the heavens that Colleen Bennett eventually arrived. This is not to say that the team did not rally as a well-oiled unit and run things exceptionally well but it was great to see Colleen walk through the door and assure us that all was well. Also a big thank you to Carol in the pro-shop for sorting the carts out. It made our job easier not having to worry about who was in which cart. We congratulate the major winners: Snowy Mountains Cup - Helen Neave (Catalina) Champion of Champions Sylvia Donohoe (Narooma) Pickering Redmond Salver Hazel Saunders (Eden) FSC&TGA Trophy Vicki Hummel (Bermagui) Cox, Balmain, Bush, Stewart Salver Mallacoota team of Hannah Searle, Rae Howell, Rae Searle and Pauline Hillyer Margaret Austin Salver Tura Beach team of Carolyn Gale, Shirley Dobson, Joy Stewart and Anne Madigan Sirius Shield Cheryl Ramsay/Catherine Walker Marge Campbell Trophy Virginia Logan/Vicki Roarty Margaret Newbound Salver Barbara Ubrihien/Gay Ward

We now look forward to the 2019 tournament which will be held at Narooma Golf Club on 27/28 & 29 March. The motels are filling up fast and I m sure it will be another great event. Our pennant competition for this year ran along fairly smoothly. Jill and I were so pleased. We hold our breath every week hoping the phone doesn t ring and you did not disappoint us. Whilst the format is always hard to arrive at we have managed to get it as close as we can to being equitable for everyone so that all our clubs can compete. That is the main game for us as a Match Committee. As our numbers dwindle within our clubs it can sometimes be a juggling act to keep it all together. Let s hope things turn around as we go forward. The final this year was played at Bermagui Golf Club and we thank the ladies for their hard work in preparation for the big day. We are lucky as an Association to have very good organisers in all our Clubs and the efforts do not go unnoticed. Well done to all the ladies who played in the finals and also to the ladies who gave up their time to assist with the refereeing of matches. It is always appreciated as it would be hard to do it without their help. We congratulate the eventual winners of this years pennant: Division 1 Moruya Open Div Bega In September we travelled to Mollymook to play the GolfNSW 4BBB v Par District playoff. 22 pairs competed in the final and I would like to thank Rhonda Waller for her organization in making the day run so smoothly. The winners on the day were: 1 st : Janey Morrison/Maree Hergenhan (Tura Beach) 2 nd : Carol Drucza/Anne Pointon (Pambula Merimbula) 3 rd : Pamela Date/Maree Norman (Mollymook) We wish Janey and Maree all the best for the State final at Bonville on November. In October we travelled to Coolamatong to play the District playoff for the GolfNSW Medal. Many thanks to Jan O Halloran and her team for their great organization and for russling up the carts for the ladies. Whilst it was very cold and rain threatened the ladies soldiered on and managed to get the round in before it got too cold. I must admit, the fire in the clubhouse was most welcoming. Congratulations to the following ladies: Div 1 Erica Hansen (Eden) Div 2 Rhonda Castellari (Tathra) Div 3 Helen Coulter (Tura Beach) Good luck to these ladies in the State finals. The only other event for finalization this year is, of course, the qualifiers for the Association Medal for 2018 to be played in February 2019 at Tathra Beach Country Club. Please be reminded that entries need to be sent to the Association Captain by end November In closing, I would like to thank the ladies on our committee for their assistance and support throughout the year. As always, they bring their A game to everything we do and it is a pleasure to be part of a great team. I look forward to 2019 being a great year for one and all. Angie McMillan FSC&TGA Captain

Happy New Year, We are very excited to announce the new Rules of Golf are officially in effect as of January 1 st! As you may know, the Rules Modernization Initiative began seven years ago with a goal to make the Rules more consistent, simple and fair, and easier for golfers to understand and apply. We also wanted to reinforce the game's longstanding principles and traditions. This process required untangling the Rules of Golf and looking at each outcome on its own merit. After taking apart the Rules book, it needed to be put back together, resulting in the largest reorganization of the Rules in more than 60 years. The 34 Rules we had previously were condensed down 24. Once established, a draft of the new Rules was released to the public in March The USGA, in partnership with The R&A, actively asked for feedback from golfers all over the world, a first in the history of the game. During the feedback period, we heard from more than 22,000 golfers, including you. That feedback was used to fine-tune the Rules, with the new Rules being shared in spring of We can only hope that you enjoyed the feedback process as much as we did. No matter how small your comment or suggestion was, please know that it was greatly appreciated and considered as revisions were taking place. The following are several resources you may find helpful to your playing of the game in 2019: Understanding the New Writing Style and Available Publications Ordering 2019 Rules Publications Major Changes Chart Text of The Rules of Golf Rules of Golf Mobile App for ios and Android Stroke and Distance Local Rule Limitations on Green-Reading Materials Thank you for your involvement and passion for the game we all love.
