1. Introduction This document describes the Conditions of Competition for Pecten Golf Club. All competitions are played under the R&A Rules of Golf, and Handicaps are administered in accordance with the Council of National Golf Union s (CONGU) Unified Handicapping System, within the auspices of the Scottish Golf Union (SGU). [Due to insufficient numbers of Ladies the club cannot currently maintain Ladies handicaps as it is not affiliated to the Ladies Golf Union] Should there be any conflict between the above documents the Rules of Golf take priority, followed by rules of the Unified Handicap System Rules then these Conditions of Competition. Under no circumstances are any officers or members of the Pecten Golf Club entitled to make a ruling which is in contravention with, or that waives the Rules of Golf, or the CONGU handicapping system. 2. Definitions a. Stipulated Round. Unless otherwise specified, in advance by the Organiser/Event Committee, the stipulated round for all Pecten Competition starts on the 1st Tee and play is in the card order holes 1 through 18. b. Publishing of Results. Results are considered to be published when the results are Posted electronically. This will usually be when they are distributed by Local (Competition) Rules a. Host Club s Local Rules The local rules published by the host club for the course being played will apply to all Pecten competitors, unless specifically advised, otherwise, in advance by the Organiser (see also Distance Measuring Devices below). b. Distance Measuring Devices. In all Pecten Competitions, unless the host club s local rule bans use of these devices on their course, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used. For further guidance refer to Rules of Golf (Appendix IV, Section 5). In particular, with reference to Smartphones and PDAs, when the distance measuring application is being used, there must be no other features or applications installed on the device that, if used, would be in breach of the Rules, whether or not they are actually used. 4. Protocol / Etiquette (incl. Pace of Play) Page 3 of 18

Pace of Play: The following are the expected times for a 3 ball - Short Courses (e.g. CSS <67, RAGC) 2:45-3:00 hrs - Medium (Most) Courses (CSS between 68 and 70): 3:00-3:30 Hrs - Longer Courses (e.g. Hawkshill and Prestige outings CSS 70+) 3:10-3:45 hrs Note: The range of times does not mean it is acceptable for 15+ minutes gaps between groups. Ideally groups should finish with the same time between groups as when they tee d off. RAGC Guidance (for 3 Balls) - 8 x Par 3 s: 8-9 Minutes Each - 10xPar 4 s Minutes Each Overall - First 5 Holes, 45 Minutes (4 par 4 s and one par 3) - Front 9 Holes, 1 ½ Hours - 18 Holes, 2 ¾ Hours. Competition Committee have the authority to impose penalties for slow play as prescribed in the Rules of Golf. (Must advise competitors, via the organiser, before commencement of play) Calling through, slower groups. This practice is encouraged (as per Rules of Golf), to ensure that Pecten maintain pace of play, and groups behind aren't held up unduly. If a group is called through in the first round of a weekend event in the 2nd round they should play off in the order they completed the first round (i.e. starting order is as per the finishing order in the morning). 5. Roles and Responsibilities a. Competition Committee The competition committee is a sub-committee of the main golf club committee and is responsible for: o Compiling and maintaining Condition of Competition for the Pecten Golf Club, and o The application of the R&A Rules of Golf. They are also responsible for resolution of any dispute or interpretation of the above. Their decision is final (after referral to R&A Rules of Golf committee and their resolution, if appropriate). The Handicap Secretary chairs this Sub-Committee, and has the casting vote (if required). b. Handicap Committee The Handicap Committee is responsible for o Compiling and publishing the results of Stroke Play Competitions o Application of the CONGU Unified Handicapping System, in accordance with the rules and instructions from the SGU. They are also responsible for resolution of any handicapping issues. The Handicap Secretary chairs this Sub-Committee, and has the casting vote (if required). It is a CONGU requirement that this Sub-Committee comprises a minimum of 3 persons. The process of compiling results may pick-up discrepancies in announced results on the day. The handicap committee has the authority to change positions and/or make disqualifications in this situation (after referral to Competition Committee if appropriate). Where final results are different from those announced on the day, - Where this affects the award of a trophy, the trophy shall be re-awarded accordingly. - Only in cases of serious breach of rules should golf ball prize be re-allocated. Page 4 of 18

For the purposes of the Rules of Golf the competition is closed when the result is published (Rule of Golf 34-1b), not when result is announced on the day. c. Competition Organiser In each competition, the nominated competition organiser is responsible for o Publishing competitor groupings and tee times for Weekend Competitions and 2 nd round of Club Championship. (Monday medal times are as-booked) o Making any adjustments to tee times/groupings in event of competitor no-shows o Making sure trophies are brought to the event. o Registering players before commencement of play. o Applying these Conditions of Competition on the day. o Checking scorecards, including handicaps, scores and addition etc. o Collating scores and competition results, announcement of Winners, and award of golf ball prizes on the day. o At their discretion (i.e. optional) establishing supplementary competitions in 2 nd round of Weekend competition (e.g. Nearest the Pin, Longest/Straightest drive) o Determining and advising competitors of the type of competition (Stableford/Bogey/Medal etc) in non-qualifying competitions. [Normally (default) a Stableford, but can be a bogey or other competition. Except by prior agreement with the committee Texas Scrambles etc. are not permitted.] o Announcing the competition result and awarding prizes. o Convening an Event Committee should situation arise. (The Organiser is not the Referee as per R&A Rule 34-2) In the event of an unresolved dispute they should defer to the Competition/Event Committee before announcing results and awarding prizes. d. Event Committee This body is only formed to manage any unexpected occurrences on-the-day. The body comprises the Organiser, plus at least two other co-opted PGC members, preferably a Competition Committee Member, but failing that any other PGC Committee member. Responsibility being solely to respond, on the spot, to unexpected/exceptional occurrences. This includes (but is not limited to): - Selection of Competition Tee, if there is an option. - Responding to host club requests/direction (i.e. alternate tee starts, local rules etc). - Resolution disputes on the day, where feasible or referring to Competition Committee for later resolution if necessary. This forum acts as the referee on the day, and (ref. R&A Rule 34-2) any decisions made in this forum are binding, bearing in mind this may (unintentionally or otherwise) change status of competition in respect to it s qualifying status etc. e. Competitors Competitors are responsible for:: o Booking themselves (and/or guests) in advance into competition (via Woodbank), and paying appropriate fees before playing in a competition o Their duties/obligations under the Rules of Golf, including o Registering with Organiser, or delegate, on the day of the competition before playing. o Recording details on Scorecard (name, handicap, scores per hole, totals and signatures on completion) o Being ready on their first tee at allocated time. o Etiquette on the course (pace of play, safety, courtesy to others) o Handing in card to organiser, at completion of round. Page 5 of 18

o Their duties/obligations under the CONGU Handicapping system, including: o Nomination of Home and Away courses if members of more than one club. o Advising Handicap Secretary details of all SGU Affiliated Clubs of which he is also a member Advising which is his Home Club, and Advising AWAY clubs of their Home Club CDH ID (Central Handicap Database ID) o Knowing their own handicap o Adjusting their handicap (down) having played below CSS/SSS in recent competition if their Home club hasn t yet made an adjustment, or if it s not known. o Reporting AWAY scores. o Advising the organiser of Matchplay results as soon a feasible after the date of play. The above is a summary for general information only, competitors are recommended to become familiar with the appropriate Rules. In event of query please consult with one of Golf Committee. 6. Lady Members and Mixed Competitions. a. Unified Competitions All Pecten Golf Club s competitions are open to both Gentlemen and Ladies. The only distinction being where club competitions are qualifiers for external competitions which are not mixed (e.g. Champion of Champions), in which case qualifiers will be selected from runner-up who meets qualification criteria. b. Handicapping for Lady Members The Pecten Golf Club is affiliated to the SGU, and administers Gentlemen s handicaps in accordance with their conditions and CONGU rules. The Pecten Golf Club is not affiliated to a Ladies Golf Union, so cannot administer Ladies handicaps. This has several implications, primarily from a handicapping perspective. o To compete in Pecten Competitions Ladies must have their handicap with another club. o All competitions are non-qualifying for Ladies. Ladies should refer to their home clubs for any specific requirements, e.g. return of cards for consideration under general play c. Mixed Competition Handicap Adjustments To compete on equal terms in mixed competitions requires adjustment of Men/Ladies handicaps to account for differences between SSS and Par of the different tees being used. Pecten have adopted the CONGU guidelines for when both Ladies and Gentlemen compete in the same competition/match: Following is a summary only and details can be found in Congu UHS , Appendix O. In a mixed competition players will be have a Competition Handicap Allowance. This is used only for purposed of determining the result and normal Playing Handicap will be used for purposes of handicap adjustments etc. Medal Stroke Play Page 6 of 18

Competition Handicap Allowance of those playing from tees with the higher SSS will be adjusted by the difference between SSS of tees used. e.g. Ladies SSS = 69, Mens SSS = 67. Ladies Competition Handicap would increase by 2. Competition Handicap Allowances may be greater than maximum 28 for men [36 for ladies] Stableford Competitions The target Stableford Point to play to handicap for Ladies and Gents shall be established. i.e. the number of points achieved if playing to handicap. Competition Handicap Allowance of those with the higher Target Stableford Points shall be adjusted by the difference between the Target Stableford Points. Competition Handicap Allowances may be greater than maximum 28 for men [36 for ladies] Strokes are taken according to Competition Handicap Allowances, for Competition Results only. Examples: 1) Ladies SSS = 69, Par 69. Ladies Target Points = 36 Men s SSS = 68, Par = 68. Men s Target Points = 36 No difference in Target Points, so Ladies and Gents use their normal Playing Handicaps 2) Ladies SSS = 69, Par = 71. Ladies Target Points = 38 Men s SSS = 68, Par = 68. Men s Target Points = 36 Ladies have higher Target, so Men s Competition Handicap is increased by difference, i.e ) Ladies SSS = 70, Par = 70. Ladies Target Points = 36 Men s SSS = 68, Par = 69. Men s Target Points = 37 Men have higher Target, so Ladies Competition Handicap is increased by difference, i.e. +1. Matchplay Competitions As per Medal Strokeplay, the side/individual with the higher SSS gets additional handicap allowance according to the difference in SSS of the Ladies and Men s tees. i.e. if SSS for Men is 68 and SSS for Ladies is 71, the ladies handicap is increased by 3 strokes. Competition Handicap Allowances may be greater than maximum 28 for men [36 for ladies] Where a fractional handicap allowance is used, the difference shall be established between Competition Handicap Allowances, and then work out the shots received/given. i.e. if SSS for Men is 68 and SSS for Ladies is 71, as above ladies handicap is increased by 3 stroke. In a 4 ball better ball competition, where handicaps are Men; A(10), B (13) and C(18) and a Lady D(17). Men s Competition Handicap Allowance are unchanged and Ladies is 20. Strokes are taken against lowest handicap A(10). So irrespective of who s in which team, B receives ¾ of 3 = (9/4) or 2 strokes, C receives ¾ of 8 = 24/4 or 6 Strokes, Lady D receives ¾ of 10 = (30/4) or 8 Strokes. Strokes to be taken from Ladies Stroke index (recommended). Par isn t relevant, lowest nett score wins the hole. Page 7 of 18

7. Categorisation of Competitors (Members, Juniors & Guests). For the purposes of competitions, there are 3 categories of competitors. o Full Members o Junior Members (Upto 18 years of age, at date of competition) o Guests (Who shall be considered Temporary Members) Gentlemen and Ladies shall be considered equal in all aspects of each category. (The only distinction being in the calculation of handicap allocation to determine results in mixedcompetitions). Junior Guests shall be treated as Guests for all other purposes. Only Full Members may win any of the club trophies. Juniors and Guests may win supplementary prizes, e.g. balls, nearest the pin, long drive etc. Juniors and Guests will be included in the season wide competitions (e.g. Order of Merit, Medal Final Qualification and Eclectic). Should a Junior or a Guest become a Full Member in the course of a season they shall be entitled to win the trophy for a season wide competition. Guests may not retrospectively win a trophy by becoming a Full Member (i.e. can t retrospectively win a competition trophy, other than as above). 8. Non-CONGU Handicaps Non-CONGU handicap golfers o Must be excluded from handicap calculations. o Guests may compete using their non-congu handicap o Full/Junior Members with non-congu handicaps are expected to obtain a CONGU handicap as soon as possible. o Full/Junior members may use their non-congu handicap as competitive handicap for upto 1 month whilst obtaining a CONGU handicap. Handicap Committee may at its discretion reduce a non-congu handicap for playing in a Pecten Competition. (Equivalent to similar provision and restrictions under Clause 23.9 on CONGU system for Away handicaps) Page 8 of 18

9. Establishing the Winners and Positions in Stroke Play Competitions a. Medal Competitions The winner of Medal Competitions shall be the competitor with the lowest net score. In the event of a tie, then countback of the lowest net scores shall be used, in order: - 2 nd 18 holes (36 Hole competitions only) - Last 9 holes - Last 6 holes - Last 3 holes - Last 2 holes - Last hole In the event that the above does not determine a winner, then the competition shall be classed as a tie. Where there is a scratch prize, the same method shall be used for countback, only using the gross scores. A competitor without an official handicap may win a scratch prize. Stableford and Bogey Competitions The winner of Stableford (and Bogey) competitions shall be the competitor with the highest Stableford (or Bogey) score. In the event of a tie, then countback of the highest scores shall be used in same order as medal above, similarly a tie if countback doesn t establish a clear winner Golf Ball Prizes Golf ball prizes are awarded in each competitive stroke play round (medals, Stableford and Bogey competitions), as per table below: Medal Round Stableford (or Bogey) 36 Hole Competition* McDonald Memorial RAGC/Weekend Weekend RAGC/Weekend Weekend Winners and Runners-up Handicap 3 Balls** 3 Balls 3 Balls - Winner 2 nd Handicap 2 Balls 2 Balls rd Handicap 1 Ball 1 Ball - - Scratch Winner 3 Balls - 3 Balls - Winning Balls each Pair/Team Runners-up Balls each Hole-in-one and 2s (Competitors requested to highlight 2 s and aces on card) 2s 1 Ball, for every 2 recorded. Hole-in-one 3 Balls for every hole-in one. * Includes Club Championship and weekend 36 hole competitions. Each round in 36 hole competition will receive prizes for that round, with additional prize for the overall winner. ** Medal Final Winner receives 3 Balls, but Extra Medal Winner only receives 3 balls if they have best handicap score on the day. In a single competition round, no competitor shall receive more than one golf ball prize allocation (2 s / Holes-in-one excluded), and other competitors shall be elevated accordingly. Page 9 of 18

e.g. o o If winner also has best gross, they are awarded the handicap winner s prize, the best gross prize goes to the gross score runner-up If best gross winner is also handicap 2 nd or 3 rd, they receive the best gross, with 3 rd and 4 th being elevated accordingly. In addition a competition organiser may at there discretion additionally use upto 3 golf balls / per round as prizes for supplementary challenges such as nearest the pin and longest drive. 11. Monday Medals at RAGC Medals are held throughout April to September, normally on Monday evenings on (approx.) fortnightly basis. These competitions are on Royal Aberdeen Golf Club s (RAGC) Silverburn Course. o o o 2 Consecutive Mondays are allocated to the Club Championship 1 Monday is allocated as the Medal Final Day. All other competitions are Normal Medals All Monday medals are stroke play competitions. a. Normal Medals A medal prize (i.e. club trophy) shall be awarded to Full Member with the best net score in each medal. The winner and all players scoring less than nett 60 (i.e. less than SSS minus 1) shall also qualify for the next Medal Final (may be following season, for medals on or after the current season s medal final) b. Club Championship (36 Hole Competition) The Club Championship is a 36 Hole Competition, held (normally) on 2 consecutive Mondays. Each round of the Club Championship shall be treated as per a Normal medal. (i.e. with a medal prize and golf balls awarded accordingly and winners of each round and those with nett scores as Normal Medals above also qualifying for medal final) Additionally, from Full Members playing in both rounds, the Club Handicap and Scratch Champions shall be established. Handicaps may be adjusted between rounds. The organiser shall publish groupings and tee times for the 2 nd round of the Club Championship. Groupings should be in order of scratch ranking in competition after first round (i.e. lowest gross scores in first round in first group etc). [Competitors may request a later time from the organiser, before draw is published This request should be acceded to] The Handicap Champion shall be the Full Member with the best aggregate net score. They will be awarded the Fircroft Cup (Club Championship Handicap Trophy). The Scratch Champion shall be the Full Member with the best aggregate gross score. They will be awarded the Roseburn Shield (Club Championship Scratch Trophy). Page 10 of 18

Both Handicap and Scratch Champions shall each receive 3 balls, and be entitled to represent the club in the North East Champion of Champions competition. If appropriate, these balls shall be additional to those awarded for a single round. c. Medal Final Day (and Extra Medal ) Option 1 agreed There shall be 2 competitions run consecutively on Medal Final Day o Medal Final for competitors who have qualified o Extra Medal for those who haven t qualified This shall be treated as a single competition for handicap purposes. The Medal Final Winner shall be awarded the Chris Crayston Trophy. Should an Extra Medal competitor have the lowest net score, they shall be awarded a Medal Trophy, otherwise a Medal Trophy will not be awarded. Additionally, Extra Medal competitors ONLY, may also qualify for the next medal final if they have either the Best Net Score on the day, or their score is equal or below SSS. Agreed 12. Weekend Competitions a. Summary Throughout April to September, Pecten Golf Club runs competitive events approx. fortnightly, (usually) on a Saturday or Sunday. In general competitive play is 2 rounds, and members may play in either round or both. Additionally events are sometimes just a single round e.g. pre-season warm-up and Christmas (Turkey Shoot) competitions. Most events comprise one of the following. o 2 Separate Competitions, on same course. o a qualifying stroke play (normally medal) round. o a non-qualifying Stableford (or Bogey) competition. o A 36 Hole competition, on same course. o 2 qualifying stroke play (normally medal) rounds, for nominated club trophy o 2 Separate Competitions, on different courses. o 2 qualifying stroke play rounds, for nominated club trophy. o A single round stroke play competition (qualifying, or non-qualifying). Organiser should ensure competitors are aware of the form of competition (medal, Stableford, Bogey etc), and whether it is qualifying or not, before commencement of play. All events are handicap competitions, and winners determined accordingly. Except in a 36 hole competition, players must adjust their own handicaps for a 2 nd round if their net score is below SSS in the first round (see Welcome Pack for how). In a 36 hole competition the playing handicap should be the same for both rounds, but handicap adjustments will be in accordance with CONGU rules for 36 hole competitions. (i.e. adjusted after 1 st round and then readjusted after 2 nd ) Page 11 of 18

For information: Except in a 36 hole competition, a 2 nd round on the same course becomes nonqualifying because medal play conditions aren t achieved as players will have played previously on same course on same day. b. Medal Rounds (Normally the 1 st round of Weekend Competition) Where there is an allocated trophy it shall be awarded to the Full Member with the lowest net score. c. Stableford (or Bogey) Rounds (Normally the 2nd round of Weekend Competition) Where there is an allocated trophy it shall be awarded to the Full Member with the best Stableford (or Bogey) score d. 2 Round (36 Hole) Competition Both rounds shall be played as medals, and golf ball prizes awarded accordingly. Additionally, the allocated trophy shall be awarded to the Full Member with the lowest aggregate net score over the 2 rounds. e. McDonald Memorial Trophy This trophy has been donated in remembrance of one of the clubs founder members. It was originally a foursomes competition, but is now played as a pairs/team event, in conjunction with a 2 nd round Stableford competition. The recommended form of competition is a blind better-ball pairs/team competition. o Organiser draws for pairings/teams, after completion of rounds. [Ensuring that pairs/teams are either Full Members only, or Juniors/Guests] o Organiser then determines the better-ball Stableford score for the pair/team The Trophy is awarded to the best Stableford score for a Full Member s pairs/team. Golf ball prizes shall also be awarded to winning/runners-up of the pairs/team competition. f. Captain versus Vice Captain A traditional annual match, mainly for pride (and a small individual wager between Captain and Vice-Captain). This is normally played concurrently with a Weekend Stableford Round. Typically, Captain and Vice-Captain, each ( randomly selected ) choosing ½ of the assembled competitors for their teams. The aggregate Stableford score of the teams determines the winner. Each member of the winning teams receives a golf ball as a prize. g. Turkey Shoot A single round (non-qualifying) competition with a turkey as prize for Winner. Normally held in early December. All competitors bring a wrapped prize to specified value. Each player chooses a prize in Page 12 of 18

their competition position order. The winner receives the Hot Shot Trophy and organises the following year s event. h. Frustration Trophy (Optional, at organiser s discretion) At weekend outings (and occasionally other rounds) this trophy is awarded to the player, who in the organiser s opinion has had a particularly frustrating experience on the day. 13. Matchplay Competitions Pecten Golf Club runs a Singles and a better-ball Pairs Knockout competition. Traditionally the organisers of these competitions are the Captain and Vice Captain. Entries shall be made to the organisers, by the specified date. Organisers will then publish the draw, and the dates by which each round is to be made. At the organiser s sole discretion an extension to a specified match deadline may be granted, considering impact on deadlines for remaining matches. In both competitions. The stipulated round is 18 holes, starting at the 1 st (unless otherwise dictated by a specific golf club) The 1 st named player(s) have choice of venue, except for the final, which is to be played on a neutral course (mutually agreed by both parties). Both parties in a Tie have equal responsibility for contacting their opponent(s) to schedule the match. When making arrangement, as much flexibility as possible shall be given (e.g. 3+ dates, including weekends). In the event that a Tie cannot be arranged by the specified date, the organiser shall decide who progresses to the next round, based on evidence of effort made to arrange (none or lots). If both parties have applied equal effort (none or lots), the organiser draws lots to see who progresses. No limit on the number on times a party can progress based on this system. [It is expected that where practical the player(s) with choice of venue use their home courses, and invite their opposition as their guests (guest fees). If players do not have a home course then choice of course with expensive visitors fees are discouraged] R&A Rules required that matches cannot be played whilst competing in stroke play (medal or Stableford) competitions. In Mixed Competitions, Handicap Strokes shall be taken according to the Ladies Stroke Index. A match which ends all square (e.g. after 18 holes) should be played off hole by hole until one side wins a hole. This play-off should start on the hole which the match began. Handicap strokes shall be taken as allowed in the prescribed round. Only in exceptional circumstances (bad light, weather) may matches be re-played rather than playoff holes being played. Stroke Allowance a. Singles Competition Strokes given/received are full handicap difference. b. Pairs (Better-ball Competition) Page 13 of 18

Four-ball Better Ball Format Lowest handicap to concede strokes to the other 3 players (based on ¾ the difference between the full Handicap allowances). Example. Lowest handicap of Players A, B, C and D is 5. So players receive the following strokes: Player A, Handicap 15. Difference = 10 so receives ¾ of 10 = 8 Strokes (¾ of 10 = and above is rounded up) Player B, Handicap 5. No Strokes, and is termed as giving strokes to the other players Player C, Handicap 8. Difference = 3, so receives ¾ of 3 = 2 Stroke Player D. Handicap 28, Difference = 23, so receives ¾ of 23 = 17 Strokes 14. Order of Merit The Order of Merit (OoM) Competition is run concurrently with other competitions during the season. OoM Points are awarded to placement in the following competitions only. o Each individual RAGC Monday Medal Round o Each individual Weekend Outing Round, counting separately. [i.e. OoM points will be awarded in each round in a 36 hole competition but not additionally to the overall 36 hole competition] The Autumn Weekend, Pairs Matchplay, Turkey Shoot and 9 Hole competitions are excluded from the Order of Merit Competition. OoM Points shall be awarded as follows. Stroke Play Competitions, Players 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th OoM Points are be awarded to all competitors (Members, Guests and Juniors), but only a Full Member may win the overall trophy. Only the best 15 finishes (points scores) count toward the final Order of Merit score In the event of a tie, the following will be used in countback to determine the overall winner Total points for the best 15 scores Total points for all scores Number of wins, 2 nd places, 3 rd places etc. 15. Eclectic The Eclectic Competition is run concurrently with all RAGC Medal Rounds Page 14 of 18

The lowest gross score recorded by each competitor, on each hole shall de used to determine their overall Eclectic Score. The winner will be the Full Member competitor with the lowest Eclectic Score. In the event of a tied eclectic score, countback over the last 9, 6, 3, 2, 1 holes shall be used to determine the winner, as per normal winners above. 16. Silverburn Challenge Trophy (Race to Cruden Bay) The Silverburn Challenge Trophy (or Race to Cruden Bay (R2CB)) Competition is run concurrently with other competitions during the season. It is loosely based on the Race to Dubai (hence the Name) and FedEx cup competitions (Basis for Points allocation) as run on European/PGA Tours in The principal is that: Cut-off Round to be nominated at start of season. o Roughly at end of August o Leaving (e.g.) 5-6 rounds between cut-off and finals (Equivalent to the FedEx Cup s Play-off Rounds). Final Round played at Cruden Bay, nominally on September Holiday Monday (or alternate, in which case name would change accordingly) R2CB points will be allocated prior to Final Round for each round played as below o Order of Merit Points, up to and including the Cut-off Round, o 5x Order of Merit Points between Cut-off and Final Round R2CB The top 30 (and ties) qualify for the R2CB Final. o R2CB Points will be reset prior to the Final Round according to the R2CB Ranking (Ref. 2 nd Column in Table Below). o In the Final Round, R2CB Final Round Points will be awarded according to players finishing position (Ref. 3 rd Column in Table Below Adjusted according to those playing, see Note Below). o Countback will be used to determine position in Final Round where appropriate. Winner of Silverburn Challenge will be the individual with highest Total R2CB Points: o Total R2CB Points = R2CB Reset Points + R2CB Final Round Points o Those who qualify but don t play in the final round will get zero (0) Final Round Points. o In the event of a Tie, the winner will be the highest placed in the Final Round. Notes. 1. The Reset Points and Points in Final Round have been taken from the FedEx Cup, this is on basis that all 30 play. However for Pecten Club this is very unlikely, so to give those who do play an equitable chance, the Final Round Points need to skip for those who qualified, but aren t playing. The example below shows where those qualified in 9 th, 10 th and 12 th (etc) did not play in final round. So Points in Final Round skip these point s positions (9 th gets 11 th, 10 th gets 13 th and 11 th gets 14 th etc.). Without this adjustment if the individual who qualified (say) first ranked doesn t play, the others don t get equitable opportunity to win. Page 15 of 18

2. Whilst only those Qualified in the top 30 can win the Silverburn Challenge, non-qualifying Pecten Members and guests are welcome to play, but will be excluded from getting any R2CB Final Round points. 3. This competition will close with the selected Final Round. When PGC season extends beyond this round, these rounds will be ignored for R2CB, but will count for the Order of Merit (e.g. in 2012, Fraserburgh outing is scheduled after Cruden Bay, so doesn t count for R2CB).
