The Hoosiers will be joined by fellow Big Ten member Iowa as well as host UNLV, BYU, Campbell, Long Beach St., Nebraska, New Mexico, Fresno State, Texas Tech, Eastern Washington, San Francisco, San Diego State, Notre Dame, Idaho, New Mexico State, Washington State and Boise State. It is the second season that the event has been held at the course, which features three different courses - the Desert Hawk nine, the Coyote Run nine and Eldorado Valley, an 18 hole layout. LAS VEGAS, TAKE TWO The Hoosiers will be heading to Las Vegas for the season season in a row this week. Last year, senior Shannon Johnson blistered the Boulder Creek Golf Course with her second round of 68 in three days, to run away with medalist honors with a school record of five-under par 211 ( ) at the UNLV Spring Invitational. Johnson blew past the field by recording birdies on three of her last five holes to finish four strokes ahead of second-place Alejandra Shaw of Campbell (215). As a team, Indiana finished tied with Texas Tech for 10th overall in the 19-team field with a 921 ( ). The Sioux Falls, S.D., native topped the former three-round school record of 212, set by former All-American Karen Dennison at the 2002 Shootout at the Legends. Johnson also became the first IU golfer in school lore to record two separate rounds of 68 in the same tournament. Additionally, Johnson became the second Hoosier in school history to record rounds of 69 or below twice in her career (Dennison). The victory was Johnson's second of the campaign. She also captured medalist honors at the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 11. Meanwhile, sophomore Elaine Harris closed play tied for 35th overall with a spring season-low 228 ( ). Harris has now recorded sub-80 scores in 12 of her last 14 rounds. Freshman Tara Boone tied for 77th overall with a 240 ( ), while freshman Amber Lindgren finished tied for 86th with a 245 ( ). Senior Katie Carlson rounded out the team with a 251 ( ). Junior Jenny Kim, playing as an individual, finished tied for 75th with a 239 ( ).

2 INDIANA WOMEN S GOLF UNLV Spring Invitational - March 12-14, LAST TIME OUT finished in 11th place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday, Feb. 25. The Hoosiers finished with a total of 927 ( ) at the tournament, which was held at the Coco Beach Golf and Country Club. Freshman Laura Nochta led the Hoosiers with a 54-hole total of 228 ( ) to tie for 33rd place. She was followed by junior Lauren Harling, who tied for 48th at 233 ( ) and freshman Anita Gahir, who placed in a tie for 52nd with a three-round total of 235 ( ). Freshman Kellye Belcher wrapped up the tournament in 55th place after carding a total of 236 ( ) and junior Elaine Harris rounded out the IU lineup by finishing in a tie for 68th position with a 241 ( ) for the event. Competing as an individual, sophomore Amber Lindgren shot a 247 ( ) for the 54-hole event, finishing in a tie for 81st. GETTING BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS opened the spring season by falling to Notre Dame, 31/2-21/2, in a dual match at the Legends at Orange Lake on Sunday, Feb. 11. Noriko Nakazaki of Notre Dame defeated freshman Laura Nochta, 2 and 1, in the opening match. In a close match, freshman Kellye Belcher topped Lisa Manau, 1 up, while junior Lauren Harling fell to Kristin Wetzel by the same score. Sophomore Amber Lindgren defeated Julie Kim, 3 and 2, for IU's second point of the day. Junior Kendal Hake was defeated by Annie Brophy, 2 up, and senior Jenny Kim and Alejandra Diaz-Calderon halved the final match to close out the event. MAKING THEIR MARK The three players that joined the Hoosiers in the fall of 2006 have already made their mark in a variety of ways since arriving in Bloomington. The trio of freshmen Kellye Belcher, Laura Nochta and Anita Gahir competed in all five tournaments that IU traveled to. They wrapped up their first semester of competition as the No. 1 ranked freshman class in the country, according to GolfStat s Freshman Class Impact Rating, with a scoring average of and a relative strength of Belcher currently leads the team with a scoring average of per round, and Nochta follows her. Gahir is fourth on the team in that category. If they stay on the current pace, all three will shatter Lynn Dennison s freshman stroke average of 78.21, which has stood since the season. TWO TO JOIN HOOSIER PROGRAM Lauren Harling (Laurinburg, N.C./N.C. State) and Emily Johnson (Winona Lake, Ind./Warsaw) will join the Indiana women's golf program in the spring of Head coach Clint Wallman believes that these are two players that can have an immediate impact on the Hoosier lineup. Harling will join the IU team after spending the past two years at North Carolina State University. She played in eight tournaments during her time with the Wolfpack, which was highlighted by tying for 35th at the NCAA East Regional Championship in Harling also tied for 31st at the Papa John's Collegiate to open the season, a tournament in which the Wolfpack captured the team title. A native of Laurinburg, N.C., Harling placed 16th at the 2005 North Carolina Women's State Amateur after taking 15th the previous year. She was also a three-time All Mid-Southeastern Conference selection while at Scotland High School. A three-time team Most Valuable Player, Harling earned Charlotte Observer All- Observer Team honors twice during her career and was also a 2002 Nike All-American. During her junior career, Harling placed in the top 10 at numerous tournaments throughout both North Carolina and South Carolina. Johnson, who is coming to Indiana from Warsaw High School in Winona Lake, Ind., brings a tremendous amount of national and state experience to the Hoosier lineup. She is a two-time Indiana state champion, having captured the title in 2003, during her freshman season, and this fall as a senior. With her title as a freshman, she became the first freshman in state history to capture the women's golf championship, and she is also one of just seven players to have ever repeated as state champion. In addition to her state titles, Johnson has seen great success on the national scene during her junior career. She has placed in the top 10 in numerous national American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments. In addition to that experience, Johnson is also a two-time U.S. Junior Girl's qualifier in 2004 and 2006 and also qualified for the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur. Although she did not advance past stroke play in 2004, she used that experience to her advantage in 2006, as tied for 40th during the stroke play portion to advance to match play, where she fell to Kristie Smith of Australia in the first round, 4 and 2. Competing against some of the talented amateurs in the world at the U.S. Women s Amateur, Johnson failed to qualify for match play after turning in a total of 160 (81-79) during stroke play. HEADING EAST The Indiana women's golf team finished in 11th place at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate. The Hoosiers carded a 916 ( ) for their placement in their final tournament of the fall portion of the schedule on Oct The Hoosiers were led by Anita Gahir who finished in a tie for 15th place with a tournament total of 225 ( ). She was followed by Laura Nochta, who finished in a tie for 32nd position after carding a 228 ( ) for the tournament. Kellye Belcher tied for 41st place with a total of 231 ( ) while Elaine Harris shared 44th place after firing a 232 ( ) in IU's final event of the season. The lineup was rounded out by Kendal Hake, who was 90th with a total of 246 ( ). VISITING THE WEST The Indiana women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Price's "Give `Em Five Fund" New Mexico State Invitational on Oct The Hoosiers had a team total of 919 ( ) in the tournament for their placement. New Mexico State University hosted the tournament, held at the New Mexico State University Golf Course, and it was Indiana's first-ever trip to the state for a tournament. Leading the way for Indiana was Laura Nochta, who finished in a tie for 13th place with a total of 225 ( ). Following her was Kellye Belcher, who tied for 23rd in the event after carding a 228 ( ) for the tournament. BATTLING THE ELEMENTS AT WOLVERINE INVITATIONAL finished in a tie for fourth at the Wolverine Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The Hoosiers carded a 919 ( ) for their placement in the tournament field. The second round was also completed on Sunday after inclement weather in the area made finishing the round on Saturday impossible. Leading the way for Indiana was Laura Nochta, who tied for seventh at 226 ( ). She was followed by Elaine Harris, who shared 15th place with a total of 228 ( ) and Kellye Belcher, who tied for 20th with a 54-hole total of 230 ( ). Anita Gahir shared 30th position after carding a 235 ( ) for the tournament and Tara Boone rounded out the Indiana lineup, sharing 50th with a total of 245 ( ). WRAPPING UP THE LADY NORTHERN Kellye Belcher tied for second in her second collegiate event as the Indiana University women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Lady Northern Invitational. The Hoosiers finished with a team total of 920 ( ) for their placement. Belcher wrapped up the tournament in a tie for second with a total of 219 ( ). Following Belcher was Elaine Harris, who tied for 28th place with a total of 233 ( ). She was joined in that position by Laura Nochta ( ). Anita Gahir shared 37th position with a 54-hole total of 235 ( ), and sophomore Amber Lindgren tied for 70th place with a total of 253 ( ). Kendal Hake carded a total of 255 ( ) to tie for 74th. SUCCESS IN FAIR VERONA With a lineup featuring three freshmen, one sophomore and a junior, the Indiana University women's golf team captured the team title at the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis. The Hoosiers carded a total of 922 ( ) while battling through inclement conditions over the 54-hole tournament. Individually, Elaine Harris turned in the best finish of her career with a third-place finish. Her 10-over-par total of 226 ( ) was just one stroke out of a share of medalist honors. Joining Harris in the top 10 were two of the IU newcomers. Kellye Belcher tied for sixth in her first collegiate tournament, turning in rounds of for a total of 229. She was followed by Laura Nochta, who shared 10th place with a total of 233 ( ). Narrowly missing out on a top-10 finish was another newcomer, as Anita Gahir tied for 12th, one stroke behind Nochta at 234 ( ) for the 54-hole tournament. Rounding out the Hoosier lineup was Amber Lindgren. The Kokomo, Ind., native finished in a tie for 61st position with a tournament total of 258 ( ). CAMP DATES ANNOUNCED The Indiana women's golf team will host a series of camps this summer for coaches and players, head coach Clint Wallman announced on March 7. The Hoosier Women's Golf Camp will host two sessions, one from June 8-9, and a second from June Players will train with Wallman, a PGA Professional, and assistant coach Katie Brophy. Topics to be covered in the camp include the short game, the long game, video analysis, team building and understanding of teammates. The Hoosier Golf Coaches Clinic will be held July 13, with instruction from Wallman and PGA Professional and head men's golf coach Mike Mayer. The duo will share their knowledge on drills and on course teaching, tournament preparation, fitness for golfers and the mental game of golf. For more information, please contact Coach Wallman at cwallman@indiana.edu or by phone at (812) BELCHER NAMED ROLEX ALL-AMERICAN Indiana University freshman Kellye Belcher was named a Rolex Junior All-American by the America Junior Golf Association (AJGA) on Oct. 26. The Bartlett, Tenn., native earned honorable mention honors for the second consecutive year. En route to earning the honor, Belcher won two AJGA events in the summer of 2006 and finished the season ranked No. 48 in the Polo Golf Rankings. She was the medalist at the Jerry Pate/Andrews Institute Southern Junior in Pensacola, Fla., and at the True Temper/David Gossett Junior Championship in Memphis, Tenn. Introduced by the AJGA in 1978, the Rolex Junior All-America Teams annually recognize those players who have established themselves as the world's premier junior golfers. The teams are comprised of 96 junior golfers, ages WINNING WAYS With IU s win at the Badger Invitational, it marked the 11th time in program history that the Hoosiers opened the season with a tournament championship. The last time that it occurred was in 2002 at the Wolverine Invitational. The win was also IU s first since the Baylor-Tapatio Springs in 2004 and the first under head coach Clint Wallman.

5 INDIANA WOMEN S GOLF UNLV Spring Invitational - March 12-14, Clint Wallman is in his third year as the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers women s golf team. He came to IU after the 2004 campaign, when he helped the University of New Mexico to back-to-back NCAA Women s Golf Tournament appearances. In his first two seasons at the helm of the IU women s golf program, Wallman has seen the team grow and return to contention for Big Ten Championship titles and NCAA Championship appearances. During the season, numerous players on the squad made great strides under Wallman s tutelage. The Hoosiers turned in their best finish at the Big Ten Championship, sixth, since the team tied for second at the tournament. At the 2006 championship, Indiana s fourround total of 1,214 was the fifth-best 72- hole mark in program history, and the Hoosiers also turned in the sixth-best 18- hole total on the second day, 292, as well as the seventh-best 36-hole total, 592, and the fifth-best 54-hole mark, 893. The team wrapped up the season with a team score average of and improved its national ranking by 29 spots over the previous year. On the season, Elaine Harris lowered her stroke average by three and a half strokes to 77.09, good for the second-best season average on the team. The cumulation of those efforts was a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten s for the sophomore. Also making her presence felt during the season was Shannon Johnson. A transfer from New Mexico, Johnson left Indiana with a stroke average of for her career, good for second all-time in the Hoosier record books. In her final collegiate season, Johnson captured two individual titles and was named first team All- Big Ten. She was also a two-time Big Ten Golfer of the Week and received GolfWeek and Golf World National Player of the Week honors after she shattered the school record in taking the title at the UNLV Spring Invitational with a five-underpar 211. Wallman is excited with the success that the program has seen in the past few years and is looking forward to the future. While Wallman was at UNM, he helped the Lobos to new heights. In , the Lobos won four regular season tournaments and were nationally ranked among the top 10 for 33 consecutive weeks, including a lofty No. 3 ranking in March of Prior to his tenure at New Mexico, Wallman served as the teaching professional at Indian Canyon Golf Club in Spokane, Wash., and operated his own golf school. While the owner-operator of the Clint Wallman Golf School from 1996 to 2002, Wallman developed and conducted all instructional programs. During that time of his career, Wallman also volunteered his time to the Spokane Youth Sports Association and various elementary and high school teams in the area. Wallman has also been lauded as one of the premier golf instructors in the Pacific Northwest. He is a four-time Inland Empire PGA Teacher of the Year ( and 2000), two-time Pacific Northwest PGA Teacher of the Year ( ) and the 1999 Pacific Northwest PING Clubfitter of the Year. Golf Digest and Golf Magazine have twice ranked Wallman among the Top 10 Teachers in Washington state, and in 2003, Golf Digest named Wallman among the top 10 teachers in the region and top 50 in America. Wallman is also a frequent lecturer for PGA of America on teaching and the development of video in teaching golf. His main thrust in most of his lectures is the potential that computer-aided video has in developing the innate talent of any golfer. Just as he has been recognized for his teaching skills, Wallman has received just as many laurels as a player. The 1990 Chrysler Putting Champion and 1997 Pacific Northwest Regional Putting Champion, Wallman also placed 30th at the 1997 Dave Pelz World Putting Championship. Wallman twice qualified for the U.S. Open Sectional, in 1998 and 2001, and he also won the 1994 Spalding Shootout, the 1999 Inland Empire PGA Championship and the 2002 Rossland Trail Open Championship. A 1985 graduate of Washington State University with a bachelor s degree in physical education, Wallman was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. The two-time captain won the 1984 Washington State Invitational title and still ranks among the Cougars all-time leaders in top-10 finishes. He served as an assistant coach for the Cougars in Wallman and his wife, Julie, have two daughters, Katie (22) and Chris (20), who are both IU students.
