1 Around the Bend T H E M O N T H L Y N E W S L E T T E R OF W O O D S O N B E N D R E S O R T Manager s Report By: Mark Sloan This summer has been a very unusual one for us it s certainly been a very wet summer. We re still mowing like it s spring time around here! After the rain we had on the 4th of July interfered with our celebration we want to remind everyone that our upcoming Labor Day Weekend is going to be full of fun for everyone! We will have a DJ at the pool on Friday night. The Golf cart parade will be Saturday afternoon with live music provided by Klassyc Tymes down at the log cabin on Saturday night. Our fireworks show will be Sunday night! So please make plans to come on down and enjoy the weekend. Be on the lookout for upcoming information about a Woodson Bend Community Cookout that will be taking place at 5pm on Saturday, September 14th. The goal is to cook all day long, fellowship with each other and eat around 5pm. There will be no charge for anyone eating at this cookout. We are looking for volunteers to help cook and for folks that would like to bring their grills or smokers. Everyone should provide a side dish and their own drinks. If you would like to help please contact Carmella Waller at carmellawaller@gmail. com and let her know what dish you are bringing. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 28nd! Our Annual Owner s Meeting will be at 3:30 pm in the Clubhouse. We need your help as you will see from the Board election ballots you receive, we only have three candidates running for the three open positions. You may feel there is no need to vote this year. THAT IS NOT THE CASE!!!!! We still need to receive at least 240 ballots returned to have a quorum and therefore a legal Annual Owner s Meeting. It is absolutely imperative that you still vote. Keep in mind that we have two three year Board positions and the other position is a one year term. So your vote will actually determine which of the candidates will 14 Woodson Bend Resort Bronston, Kentucky (606) Web Site: SEPTEMBER, 2013 receive the three year terms and which one will receive the one year term (determined by number of votes each receives). If we do not get a quorum then those open positions will be one year appointments chosen by the current Board members. In addition, that would mean that we would have five open positions on our Board next year and that simply would not be healthy for our organization. PLEASE, take the time to fill out your ballot and return it back to us. It would also be of great help if you would encourage your fellow owners to vote as well! I m counting on everyone to help get this done! During the Annual meeting you will be given an opportunity to fill out forms letting us know if you are interested in serving on any Committees. This is a wonderful way to participate in the happenings around the Resort and make contributions. Be on the lookout for information from our Pro Shop about our upcoming Club Championship! Please note that the Club Championship is open to ANY Woodson Bend owner!!! The tournament is flighted based on handicap so everyone should come on out and participate this year! This tournament truly benefits from good participation. So come on out, I promise you will have fun!!!! Speaking of golf tournaments, I would like to encourage everyone to participate in the KY WOUNDED WARRIOR TOURNAMENT. This is a four person scramble taking place on Wednesday, September 12th. The fun begins at 11:30AM with registration, putting contest, lunch and a shotgun start at 1PM. Entry fee is $300 per team and the tournament will benefit the BMAC KY Wounded Warrior Program. This is a fantastic cause and I hope everyone will consider placing a team in this event! If you are interested in participating please call or at bmaconline.org. Employee Appreciation Day is coming up on October 11th. If you are interested in making a donation you can contact Marcia in Administration at or via at administration@woodsonbendresort.com. Any donation you wish to make can be billed to your account. We appreciate your support. Lastly, I would like to encourage all owners to contact our Remodeling Department for your condo upgrade needs. Our folks do jobs as small as adding a garbage disposal all the way up to building new side porches.no job is too small or big!!! If you have plans to do some work this winter, let me encourage you to contact us soon..we are busy, customers are very happy with our pricing and quality..as a result, we are experiencing some lead time for future work.
