2 AMENITY SPOTLIGHT CANYON LAKE COUNTRY CLUB & GOLF COURSE Experience our beautiful 18 hole golf course, designed by Ted Robinson Sr., that was established in The course boasts rolling lush fairways with small undulating greens that challenge golfers of all skill levels. Every Canyon Lake Property Owners Association member can golf at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. Daily rates are $39 for adults (over the age of 25), lower prices are available for mid-adults (ages 18 to 25) and juniors (17 and younger). Tee time reservations begin daily at 6 a.m. and can be made seven days in advance by calling There are also very affordable annual membership rates which can be found online at Practice Facility Whether you want to perfect a particular shot or simply warm up you'll find that our practice facility is the perfect spot. The practice facility features a large turf driving range marked with yardage indicators along with a professional putting green to sharpen up your putting game. Plus there is a pitching area and sand bunker adjacent to the range to complete your full course practice! Canyon Lake Golf Pro Shop The Canyon Lake Golf Pro Shop is the center of all golf activity at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. Any questions related to golf activities or functions can be answered by friendly, professional staff in the Golf Pro Shop. In addition to exceptional staff, the Golf Pro Shop is your one-stop-shop for all your golfing needs, whether you are a casual golfer or a pro. Plus, as a Canyon Lake resident you always qualify for an additional 20% discount on select apparel. Great Clubs...Great Culture Canyon Lake Golf Course has four active clubs that share a common goal of keeping players active and having fun! Men's Club The Canyon Lake Men's Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). This club has nearly 300 golfing and social members and sponsors 10 tournaments a year. Club members enjoy regular 18-hole golf play early on Wednesday mornings. 2 Women's Club The Canyon Lake Women's Club was established in 1971 and is a member of the Women's Southern California Golf Canyon Lake Living April 2017

3 Association (WSCGA). The club meets on Tuesdays to play 18 holes of golf. Major tournaments include the President's Cup, Club Championship and Senior Tournament. Family Golf Club The Canyon Lake Family Golf Club promotes the sport of golf by bringing together men, women and juniors through friendly family golfing activities. Throughout the year, the group hosts multiple beginner clinics, youth clinics, tournaments and social events. 9er's Club The Women's 9er's Golf Club, also sanctioned by WSCGA, is a group of enthusiastic women who enjoy nine hole golf games. The group conducts five tournaments throughout the year, hosts golfers from Canada and shares golf get-away opportunities. All women who enjoy playing golf in a relaxed atmosphere where the challenge of golf is combined with competition and friendship are invited to join this group. Learn More About Golfing Adult Golf Lessons The golf professional staff at the Golf Pro Shop offers golf lessons by appointment, seven days a week. Staff offers private or group lessons, either individually or in a series. Adult lessons are $35 for a 30 minute session and $50 for a one hour session. Three one hour sessions can be purchased for $135 and five one hour sessions can be purchased for $200. For group pricing or more information, contact the Golf Pro Shop at Junior Development Program The Canyon Lake Junior Development program is a golf instructional program for children ages 4 to 14. The program runs every Sunday at 1 p.m. and on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Canyon Lake Golf Course. The program is $60 per month, with a $100 registration fee. For more information or to sign up for lessons, contact the Golf Pro Shop at Summer Junior Golf Camp This summer, the Canyon Lake Junior Golf Camp will return running July 10 through July 14. The camp is hosted by the Golf Pro Shop staff, and each day, instructors will focus on different techniques from putting and chipping to pitching and driving. Children will be divided by age and skill level. For more information, call the Golf Pro Shop at April Golf Course Schedule Maintenance Monday April 10 Closed All Day The Canyon Lake Golf Course will be closed all day on Monday, April 10 for its regularly scheduled monthly maintenance. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, April 11. The Canyon Lake Country Club Restaurant & Bar will be open for normal business hours. Please check the daily schedule posted at each court (or at the bulletin board) to see upcoming activities and scheduled play for the day. Tennis Club s Open/Social Tennis The Tennis Club invites residents to come out to the tennis courts for social play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. This free activity is open to all levels of players and is a great way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. Canyon Lake has four tennis pros available to provide lessons. The courts are open every day for free play. The Association has limited paddles and balls available at the Pool office for check-out for those who want to try out the sport (must have POA ID Card). Senior Center Activities The Senior Center, located near the Main Gate, it is an inviting environment for members of Canyon Lake to participate in weekly activities and make new friends. One of Canyon Lake s favorite events, Fiesta Day, will celebrate its 44 th anniversary on May 27, The theme this year will be Stars, Stripes & Fiesta, a patriotic tribute honoring all those who have served our great nation. Additionally, the Fiesta Day Committee has selected two Grand Marshals this year, Nancy Carroll and Al Van Beenen. Both have been integral parts of the community and volunteered countless hours serving community groups and helping residents. The Fiesta Day Committee is busy planning the large event and is excited to announce this year's contests will have an all-american twist. Contests will include a jam and jelly contest, barbeque sauce contest, parade float contest, and of course the booth theme contest. If you would like to volunteer or be part of the Fiesta Day Committee, contact the Association's Activities department at , ext Booth Forms Available April 1 Booth forms will be available April 1 for those who are interested in having a booth at the event. Derringer joined the rock scene in the 1960s as a member of The McCoys, who had a number one hit with "Hang On Sloopy". Derringer moved on to blues rock, scoring a 1974 hit with "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo". He has also worked extensively with brothers Edgar and Johnny Winter, and with the group Steely Dan. Beach Boys Tribute (Featuring Catch a Wave) December 2, p.m. at Lodge Catch a Wave is returning to Canyon Lake with a tribute set to Beach Boys that will ring in the holidays. 6 ASSOCIATION NEWS Association Appoints Senior Staff Management Eric Kazakoff, General Manager SECURITY CORNER Lynn Jensen, Assistant General Manager In March, the Association appointed Eric Kazakoff (former Director of Operations) as the Association s new General Manager. Kazakoff has more than 35 years experience in construction and facility management. Spending the majority of his career in senior business management roles, Kazakoff offers the type of vast and broad skill-set the Board of Directors sought for the General Manager position. In addition to selecting a new General Manager, the Board of Directors has also assigned long time employee Lynn Jensen to a newly created Assistant General Manager position. Jensen began working in the Member Services department in 2001, and throughout her years she has worked in almost every department for the Association. Lake Lease Announcement After decades of negotiations, the Association and EVMWD have finally reached an agreement through counsel as to the terms of a Fifth Amendment to the Lake Lease Agreement. The completed Fifth Amendment to the Lake Lease Agreement was signed by all parties in March. Prior to this amendment, the Lake Lease payments were adjusted every year according to how much it cost to purchase water. However, over the years, the cost to purchase water has increased significantly and it's expected to continue increasing in the future as more people move into Southern California, straining the state s water supply. With the Fifth Amendment now in effect, the Lake Lease payments will be adjusted on a yearly basis based Golden Gate - Right Turn Only As a reminder, when exiting Golden Gate onto Canyon Lake Drive South, members and guests are encouraged to obey the posted signage which indicates right turn only. Community Patrol will continue to issue citations for violations. Quagga & Zebra Mussels Quagga and zebra mussels are a highly invasive freshwater species that colonize on both soft and hard surfaces and are known to clog water intake structures, pipelines, docks, and boats. As recently as February 24, mussel veligers (microscopic, free-floating larval life stage) have been detected in the Santa Ana pipeline which transports water to Lake Perris. To help prevent the spread of quagga and zebra mussel in Canyon on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). There is also a floor and ceiling to the payment increases the Association's Lake Lease payments will never increase more than four percent per year, and the minimum increase will be one percent per year. With this new agreement, the Association will save a significant amount of money. EVMWD gets the benefit of having a predictable and stable revenue stream from the Lake. With the completed Fifth Amendment in place, the new Lake Lease Agreement will not expire until December 31, Additionally, the Fifth Amendment gives the Association a unilateral option to extend the Lake Lease Agreement another 44 years after December 31, 2066, on the same terms and conditions that are now in effect. 30 Day Readings Per the Davis-Stirling Act, which applies to all common interest developments in California, before adopting or amending an Operating Rule or changing the Fine Schedule, the Board of Directors must provide notice of a proposed rule change at least 30 days before making the rule change. The Association's 2018 Annual Budget was mailed to all homeowners at the end of March. The Budget is on a convenient CD that can be easily inserted into a computer for viewing. Printed copies of the Budget are also available for pick-up at the Association s Member Services office for those who wish to have a printed booklet. The Budget can also be viewed online at www. canyonlakepoa.com. Lake, please follow these guidelines when entering or exiting the community with your boat: 1. When leaving the community for fuel, service, or off-site storage, remember to stop at the gate and request a service seal (white tag). To save time, call ahead and let Community Patrol Dispatch ext. 410 know you are coming. 2. Upon entry into the community, all boats without a service seal (white tag) will receive a red tag and will need to obtain a quagga inspection with Marine Patrol (certain exceptions apply, see rule Lake and Marina, Section 10.3). Please note, the quagga mussel inspection fee is $20. To ensure a successful inspection, remember Clean, Drain, and Dry! Phil Hawgood 4. Michael Harris Advisory Vote - Proposed Amendments to CC&Rs There are two proposed advisory votes that will be included with the election ballots this year. Advisory votes do not constitute a formal vote to amend the CC&Rs, and are not binding on the Board of Directors. These advisory votes will be used as a survey to help gauge interest in future proposed amendments. Fence Height Restrictions The Association is surveying member interest in changing the five foot fence height restriction to a fence height not to exceed six feet. 3-Wheeled Energy Efficient Motorized Automobiles The Association seeks an advisory vote to gauge community interest in amending the CC&R to allow future 3-wheeled, energy efficient, motorized automobiles within the Association's jurisdiction.
