Pat Kastl continued with his consistent year by overcoming all the elements & other players by posting a great score of 35 points to hold off "Mr Greg" Liversage with 34 points. 6 Camden Golf Club (Studley Park) Individual Stableford/2 Ball Aggregate 06/09/ players made their way to the Macarthur area to Camden Golf club on a fresh day that appears to have been conducive to good scoring. The club has not played this course for a few years and it appears the scoring on the revamped course is still impressive. Shooting a great round of 42 points & continuing his great form from the Springs, chalking up his 2nd win for the year was Craig Horley. 2nd was Lloyd Rodger with Richard Mair 3rd, both with 38 points to go to a countback. Top 10 players went down to 34 on a countback. A, B & C Grade Long drives were won by Glen Williamson, Peter Staples & Ian Watson respectively whilst Richard Mair won Nearest the Pin & Lloyd Rodger took out the Drive & Pitch. Scott Driver & Allan Kenny both dipped into the captains pockets by taking home the cash for birdies on the Par 3 s. 7 Long Reef Individual Par 20/09/ Starters made their way to play the Northern beaches course of Long Reef for an Individual Par & the final of the 2015 Matchplay between defending Champion Ian Watson & Richard Mair on what started as a miserable day for golf. An incredible 4 players all came in with the same score making the countback all important. Coming out on top was Gordon Ho with a fantastic +4. Equally fantastic but considered unlucky were Pat Wong coming in 2 nd, Willem Van Vuuren coming in 3 rd with Graham Flanagan desperately unlucky to come in 4 th all gentlemen with +4 as well. The top 10 went down to 0 on a countback. A, B & C Grade Long drives were won by Pat Kastl, Terry Hillman & Graham Flanagan respectively whilst Gordon Ho won Nearest the Pin on a tough par 3 with John Bennion pocketing the Drive & Pitch. Surprisingly, there was only 1 captains cash claim to Simon the Mouse Soo. Well done Simon. This game also represented the final of the 2015 Matchplay event with Richard Mair continuing his "habit" of winning BIG events by defeating the defending champion Ian Watson 4/3. Well played to both gents on getting this far & congratulations to Richard on his win. 9 Sydney Vs Brisbane Coffs Harbour 7-8/ 11/ players from QLD & Sydney made their way up to Coffs Harbour for our annual challenge over 2 days on the magnificent Bonville International Golf course & the challenging 27 holes of Coffs Harbour golf club. Despite massive amounts of rain the week before we arrived, the Bonville layout was in great condition which the QLD players revelled in by taking a lead of average to NSW Basically ensuring that QLD maintained its stronghold on the Shannon Driscoll memorial trophy was Lyle Nicholson by shooting an incredible 45 points around what some consider the hardest course in NSW. Gordon Wass came in 2nd with 36 points with Peter Bendeich & Mike Collins with 30 points. Peter managed to shut the ongoing doubters over his scoring 30 points at Bonville with this effort. Well played Peter and must have been very satisfying. The groups headed off to Coffs Harbour with a lot of work for NSW to do and the field hit off with persistent rain lurking around. As the day wore on, the rain continued & got heavier until common sense prevailed and the game was called off and became a 14 hole event. Terry Hillman came in 1st with 27 points over the 14 holes from Mark Nugent with 26 then Bob Ada also with 26. The teams event went to QLD with an average over the 2 days of to NSW Individual winners were Lyle Nicholson with a combined 68 points over Terry Hillman on a countback with 54 points. Steve Nicholson had the misfortune to win the "Wendy" award with 35 points over the 2 days. We look forward to going back in 2016 to try wrestle the trophies away from QLD. Scores for the weekend for NSW players follow: NSW Name Bonville Coffs Total Bo Thongvilu Bruce Clausen Ian Watson Mark Ward Terry Hillman Stephen McCammond
