During the presentation those present were told the good news that Ben Everson has asked his girlfriend to marry him. 3 Torrential rain had closer the course earlier in the week and we were not very optimistic when we arrived at the course. However the threat of rain never eventuated much to the delight of the 26 players that teed off on a dismal but clear morning. The course that was very wet underfoot especially on the back 9 holes. The Guzzlers Cup was won by George Soravia (38) on a count back from Steve Buchanan and Frank Fuller (3rd). The Pink Ball was awarded to Tim Tillbrook (18). We welcomed back Michael Fuller & Jason Morrow. Jackpots to next week ($41) Saturday 16 November 2013 Auburn (Rosnay) Golf Course - Stableford - 5:55 22 players teed off on a morning that threatened rain but which held off until the last few holes. The Guzzlers Cup was won by John Dunn (37) on a count back from Brett Coventry. In 3rd Place was Peter Bull (36) on a count back from Tim Pooley, Fred El-Daher & Chris Lee. The Pink Ball was awarded to Ian Tillbrook (22). We welcomed 2 new members: Peter Gorman and Dean Gorman. Dean Gorman played with the GC between 5/3/05 and 21/5/05. Jackpots to $28 Saturday 9 November 2013 The Ridge Golf Course - Guzzlers Guzzler - Stableford - 6:00 34 players teed off on a very warm morning (22 degrees at 5:30am) and each player was covered in flies before tee off. The Aerogard had to work overtime for those who had some or could beg, borrow or steal some. By the 3rd hole the flies had gone as the humidity rose. Matt Whibley (40) won the Guzzlers Cup ahead of Fred El-Daher (39) and Tim Pooley (37). The Pink Ball was awarded to John Adelerhof (23) who celebrated his 80th birthday last Sunday (3rd November). President, Tim Pooley, presented John with an award on behalf of our members on his achievement of this significant milestone. The award was prepared by Norm Miles especially for this momentous occasion. Matt Whibley also won the Guzzlers Guzzler which is a play-off of the winners of the Guzzlers Cup over the preceding 6 3

4 months. We welcomed a visitor, Joel Griffiths, who is back from China for a few weeks to get away from the snow and cold weather. Horse Lotto was won by Frank Fuller ($100) in his first ever win. Jackpots to $17 Saturday 2 November 2013 Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford - 5:44 28 players teed off on a day that was already 20 degrees at 5:15am and the heat was forecast to reach the low thirty degrees. Fran Fuller (37) won the Guzzlers Cup ahead of Chris Lee (36) on a count back from Rodney Dixon. The Pink Ball was awarded to Grant Thompson (22). NTP 4th Hole: Gary Barnes NTP 9th Hole: Peter Bull NTP 10th Hole: Rob Guidi D&P 6th Hole: Ryan Carr D&P 15th Hole: Tim Tillbrook Eagles Nest 16th Hole: Chris Lee ($14) Saturday 26 October 2013 The Ridge Golf Course - ANNUAL DAY - Stableford - 6:00 38 players tee off on the most highly competitive day of the year for our golf club - Annual Day had finally arrived. The weather was cool to start but turned into a warm Spring day that was perfect for golf. Peter Bull (43) won the Guzzler Cup. The 6 Monthly Point Score winner is Joe Taylor who was 2 points ahead of Chris Lee. The Pink Ball was awarded to Denis Daniels (19). Our members were treated to 18 holes of golf, a hamburger after 9 holes and lunch at the Kareela Golf & Social Club after the game. Most of our players were still socialising until the completion of the Cox Plate at 5:30pm. This year was a variation on the usual Annual Day theme and, according to comments made during the day, it was a great success. Special Mention - Illness Caused the Following Members to Not Attend This Year: 1. Dylan Cairns: Dylan is in St Vincent's Hospital recovering from knee surgery that went horribly wrong when it became infected almost causing the loss of part of his leg. Our best wishes go to Dylan Cairns who was unable to join us and compete for the 6 Monthly Point Score in which he was a strong competitor. 4

9 Saturday 24 August 2013 Calderwood Golf Course - Stableford - 7:00 28 players teed off on a beautiful Spring day even though we are still in the end of Winter. For the second time in 2 weeks the Guzzlers Cup Winner was decided by a count back of 3 of our players. Fred Jeanes (38) won on a count back from Steve O'Grady and Frank Fuller. Peter Bull (22) was awarded the Pink Ball. Players welcomed a visitor, Tyson Taylor (son of our newest member, Garry). Steve O'Grady scored an Eagle on the Par 4 16th Hole. We will return to do battle again next Saturday when hopefully the weather will be much kinder to us all. Congratulations to Frank Fuller who celebrated his 70th birthday during the week. Saturday 22 June 2013 Woolooware Golf Course - Stableford - 6:50 The bulk of the field of 32 players only managed to complete 9 holes before the Club Captain, Fred El-Daher, called the game off due to the rain. The green were flooded making putting impossible unless you used a 6 or 7 iron the get the ball above the water and even then it was pretty much hit & miss. Even the die-hards only lasted another 2 holes after Fred called the game off. What a disappointing end to a morning that promised so much. Benjamin 1UP The Engadine Hackers Golf Club was formed in 1983 as a break-away club by some Miranda members residing with new families at Engadine who were unable to play every week. The Hackers have pinched most ideas from Miranda including the Guzzlers Mug", Pink Ball, Annual Day and their Constitution. The inter club Challenge began in 1997 as an annual event in which the two clubs competed against each other for the Challenge Trophy. The event was held at Illawarra for the first three years and then transferred to Calderwood Valley. Pairs from each club compete against each other with the previous year s losers picking the type of game. Miranda GC has now won 11 "Challenges" and the Hackers have won 6. After golf both clubs enjoyed a B-B-Q and beer and presentation of the Challenge Trophy and individual club winners.
