5 DRESS CODE Bury St Edmunds Golf Club requires both its members and visitors to respect and maintain the standards of a traditional golf club. 18 Hole Course: Smart, conventional golf clothing should be worn at all times. Denim jeans, collarless shirts, combat/cargo shorts are not accepted. 9 Hole Course: Although conventional golf clothing would be preferred a relaxed dress code has been adopted on the 9 hole course. Clubhouse/Terrace: Smart casual dress, no spikes, caps or waterproofs. Denim jeans may be worn. T-shirts, football shorts are not accepted. Laptop, IPad and mobile phones may be used discretely to surf the internet inside the clubhouse. Mobile Phone Policy: Phones may be taken on the course for use in genuine emergencies only and must remain on silent. Mobile phones may be used discretely outside the clubhouse. 6 COURSE ETIQUETTE Golf is played for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and abide by the rules. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the spirit of golf. DO Enjoy the game and consider the enjoyment of others Play without delay Be ready to play when it is your shot Allow others to play through if searching for a lost ball Rake a bunker after playing from it Repair divot holes and pitch marks DON T Behave in an unsportsmanlike manner, throw clubs, swear or make unnecessary noise on the course Play a shot until the group in front are out of range Stand too close to a person playing a shot Leave your bag in front of the green or write down scores while on the green Take more than one practice swing Slide, drag feet or lean on a putter or flagstick on the green
