6 MEMBERS GENERAL INFORMATION DRESS AND CONDUCT Members shall observe proper dress and orderly conduct on the course and within the clubhouse. The suitability or otherwise of a member's attire depends on the particular occasion and there should be no need to instruct members on this point. However, for your guidance, the following points are stressed: 1. It is a requirement that patrons apparel be neat, tidy and appropriate to wearing in a Club. 2. The wearing of T-shirts with slogans or wording, football socks, football shorts are not acceptable dress. Members are expected to abide by these rules and assist in implementing them. Members and visitors are asked to read the Dress Code conditions on the Pro shop wall. Shoes with metal spikes are not allowed. 6

7 ON LINE BOOKING of TEE TIME All bookings are done on line through the website (wwcc.com.au) or using the terminals in the Pro shop and in the Spike Bar. Instructions for online booking procedure are also available on the website. TEE-OFF TIME All players must be ready to play 15 minutes before tee-off time. Players arriving late will be moved to the end of the field. GOLF ETIQUETTE There are four main areas of etiquette, which are Course Care, Safety, Consideration for Others, and Pace of Play. All players should be mindful of all aspects of Course Care including repairing pitch marks, replacing divots and smoothing bunkers. For additional information please refer to: ( Rules & Handicapping Course Care) Before playing a stroke, ensure that no one is in your line of play or near your swing. Try not to move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. In the interest of all golfers, players should play without delay. Players searching for a ball should allow other players coming up to pass them; they should signal the players following them to pass, and should not continue their play until those players have passed and are out of range. Through the green a player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced is replaced at once and pressed down. A sand bucket MUST be carried at all times and used to repair divots. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before players leave the putting green. When the result of a hole is determined, players should immediately leave the putting area. 7

8 Flag colours: red = front; white = middle; blue = back section of the green. Golf Carts can be damaging to the course. Only drive in areas designated by the green staff. PRIORITY ON THE COURSE In the absence of special rules, two-ball matches should have precedence over and be entitled to pass any three or four-ball match. A single player has no standing and should give way to a match of any kind. Any match playing a whole round is entitled to pass a match playing a shorter round. If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front, it should allow the match following to pass. GROUND STAFF ON COURSE Ground Staff have right of way while working on all areas of the course. Please give sufficient time so that staff may move machinery and themselves out of the line of play. Under no circumstances are members to direct complaints directly to the ground staff. All complaints should go through the appropriate channels. 8

9 RULES OF COMPETITION PLAY Play is under the conditions determined by Match & Competition Committee, in compliance with the Rules of Golf as authorised by the R&A, GA and local rules in operation at the time. Before commencing play, members should inspect the Notice Board for temporary local rules and other information. To be eligible to play competition, players must enter their names on the sheet provided and pay entrance fee at the Pro shop before the commencement of their round. Tee times must be observed at all times. All players must report to the Pro shop at least 15 minutes before hit-off time. Cancellations of booking can be done on line or by contacting the Pro shop. Contact Pro shop if in any doubt about your cancellation. Do not hand in your card until you have checked your score and counter-signed the card. All competitors' cards MUST be returned immediately on completion of play. Always pick up when you have lost a hole to par or exhausted strokes allowed in Stableford. Repair all lob marks on the green - you are allowed to do this prior to putting. Always play without delay: walk briskly between shots. Remember there are players behind you who also wish to complete their round. PRACTICE ON THE COURSE Provision is made for members to pracace on any of the 3 designated areas: pitching area near entry gate, pitching & bunker area adjacent to 9 th fairway and area adjacent to the 10 th fairway. Players must adempt to keep balls within these areas and not hit onto fairways. A member may prac+ce using 2 balls on the course outside designated compe++ons +mes. When pracasing in this manner, players are reminded of golf eaquede in respect to those playing a social round of golf. 9

10 HANDICAPPING Stroke Par, Stableford and Four Ball Best Ball: Full Handicap Foursomes: Two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners strike off alternately from the tee and thereafter strike the ball alternately during the play of each hole until holed out. Half aggregate stroke handicap. Mixed Foursomes: Played in the same manner as foursomes except that the Women use the red tees. Half aggregate stroke handicap. Canadian Foursomes: Played as above except that both players play tee shots at every hole and afterwards continue with whichever ball they nominate. Half aggregate stroke handicap for men and ⅜ of combined stroke handicap for Women s. American Foursomes: Both players play tee shots at each hole, and then play a second stroke with their partner's ball. One ball is then selected and play proceeds as in Foursomes with the owner of the ball selected playing the third stroke. Handicap is half of the aggregate stroke handicap for men and ⅜ of combined stroke handicap for Women. Ambrose: Played with one or more partners. Each player tees off; the better position of the balls is marked. Players in succession, and in any sequence, place their ball within one club length of this position (no nearer to the hole) and play. The handicap will be ⅛ of the combined handicap if a group of four, ¼ if a group of two. Fractional handicaps are to be used. 10

11 COUNT-BACK SYSTEM Deciding Ties in Events Ties in events shall be decided whenever possible by replay, but if the Committee considers this to be inexpedient the following count-back method shall be used: 1. For 18-hole events the best score for the last 9 holes shall be used; if there is still a tie the last six holes, or if still tied the last 3 holes. If a tie still persists then hole by hole from the 18 th. 2. In 27 hole events the first 18 holes shall be used; if still tied the last 9 holes and then as for No 1 above. 3. In 36, 54, and 72-hole events the last 18 holes shall be used and still tied count back as in 1 above. 4. In handicap events the relevant handicap or fraction thereof shall be applied HANDICAP CALCULATIONS Golflink calculates player s handicaps based on compeaaon scores. To view handicap refer to: Players use a GolfAustralia (GA) handicap which is relative to their home course, best 8 of 20 score multiplied by When playing at other courses, the GA handicap will be adjusted in relation to the slope rating of the course being played. 13 GOLF COMPETITION PRIZES Golf competition prizes will be allotted to the WWCC player s membership card. Prizes are redeemable through purchases in the Pro Shop, Bistro and the clubhouse. Membership subscription and competition fees cannot be redeemed on the club membership card. BEGINNERS GROUP New to golf? Group lessons for beginners are held throughout the year. Information regarding these lessons may be found at or by calling the Pro-shop on The lessons are provided by our professional, Kurt Stegbauer. A nominal fee per lesson includes all equipment. Non-member beginners are supported by the club which provides a voucher for 9 holes play at $10 per round for a specified time. Members of the Women s committee are willing to assist by accompanying beginners on the course. 13

14 COMPETITION MEN Responsibility in Play: The lowest handicap player in any group will be responsible for proper observance of course etiquette, replacing divots and inviting following players through. Should two players be on equally low handicaps, they will mutually arrange who will accept responsibility. Competition Grades Ten (10) players constitute a competition. 10 to 29 players - A grade only 30 to 60 players - A and B grades 61 or more players - A, B and C grades Two Grades only A Grade 0-15 B Grade Handicap Gradings: Club & Open Competitions A Grade 0-12 B Grade C Grade Competitions and Club handicap grading may be altered at the discretion of the Committee. Men s Events Club Championships single stroke event played over 72 holes. Best scratch winners for Club Champion, B Grade Champion, C Grade Champion, and Junior Champion (Under 18 at time of event.) Veteran Champion (55 years and over at time of event) 14

15 Denniston Wedge Eclectic competition to all players during the Club Championships. Lowest scratch score on each hole is recorded through the four rounds. Winner decided on lowest total for 18 holes. 4BBB Championship An event played in a pair over 36 holes. Winners in both scratch & Handicap 4BBB Mixed 18 holes Medal of Medals The monthly medal winners in each grade from November to October compete for the three medals. The final is played in conjunction with Rd 4 of the Club Championship. Monthly Medal Single stroke event played first Saturday of each month. Net winner in each grade receives a $75 voucher plus a monthly medal. The Viewco Monthly Mug - single Stableford event is played the first Wednesday of each month. The highest score of a player, who is in attendance at the presentation, wins the Monthly Mug. The winner receives a $40 voucher. Balmain Beer Pale Ale Pairs. Played once per month, the best two individual scores in each four qualify for the team aggregate. Each team must enter its own scores at the Pro shop. The winner is the best team aggregate score still in the club house at presentations. The winning team will each receive a carton of Balmain Beer, provided by Rob Van Delft. Players must be over 18 to be eligible. R L Smith Match Play Championships Single scratch event. Top 4 players in each grade from Club Championships form a draw. All sudden-death rounds over 18 holes except final which is over 36 holes. 15

16 Summer Cup Pairs BB handicap match play. Top 8 pairs from qualifier in January form draw. All sudden-death rounds over 18 holes except final which is over 36 holes. Dr Tyrie Trophy Single handicap match play championships. Top 8 net qualifiers from August monthly medal form draw. All suddendeath rounds over 18 holes. The Sureway Longest Drive - A voucher for the longest drive in four age groups on medal days on the 9 th hole. Monthly winners play off for the Long Drive Championships in December. Players can only win one monthly event. 23 VETERANS Veterans play a 9-hole event every Monday. Tee off times are am and am-1.00 pm. All players are aged over 55 for men and 50 for women, must be affiliated with NSW Veteran Golfers Association Inc. for an annual fee of $3.30. For the annual 18-hole tournament all players play off their Golf Australia handicap.
