2 Fellow Archers, Following on from our success of last year s Agincourt Shoot and by popular demand Norton Archers are pleased to once again host the Longbow Extravaganza. This unique event over two days is for all archers who shoot the traditional English Longbow only. Competitors are encouraged to participate on both days for the accolade of being the Tourney Champion as well as for individual awards at each event which can still be won by those who wish to attend on one of the days. New for 2016 we are initiating the 1 st Northern Championships version of Shooting the Mark. The format of the two day s is as follows; Saturday 9 th July The 1 st day competition will be conducted in two parts. The first event of the day will be a Warwick Archery GB target round. The second event on the afternoon will be a scored Medieval themed novelty round consisting of fifteen authentic styled targets; The Flanders Popinjay The Flemish Blazon. The Wand Shoot The Norton Chimes The Dice The Loop Shoot. The Siege Balestro Del Girfalco Unes Duo Tres The Kings Shield! The Garland The Plague shoot Speed shooting Owls Nest The Oscillato Pedular Sunday 10 th July For the morning of the 2 nd day, there will be a Clout Shoot using metric distances and scoring zones. On the afternoon we will be initiating the Northern Championship version of Shooting the Mark consisting of 60 arrows at 20 marks at varying distances! Onsite Camp limited onsite camping is available for Friday & Saturday nights but must be pre-booked to guarantee a plot (under 18 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult with parental / guardianship authority). Venue - Norton Sports Complex, Station Road, Norton, Stockton on Tees, TS20 1PE. Target Sighting for both days will for a competition start.

The Dress Code will not apply but appropriate attire is expected. Period clothing is encouraged for the Saturday events. Entry will be restricted to Archery GB Members only. Archery GB cards are required to be shown. Trophies will be awarded by merit of score as outlined in the Trophy List and scoring criteria issued on the competition day. The Result Sheets will be available on the website. Archers using a wheelchair or other related aids should inform the tournament organiser at the time of entry so that appropriate arrangements can be made should they wish to stay on the shooting line. Longbows must conform to Archery GB Rule 206 No blunts required! - 6 arrows are needed for each targets & a minimum of 12 for the Speed Shoot. Norton Sports Trust, Norton Archers, their servants or agents cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to vehicles, property or personal injury however caused. Photography of any description will only be allowed on registering with the tournament organiser on arrival at the venue. Trophies ALL TROPHIES WILL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF NORTON ARCHERS. AWARD WINNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN FOR THE TROPHIES AND PLEDGE TO RETURN IT WITHIN A PERIOD NOT EXCEEDING ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THIS SHOOT.

4 Events Details and Awards Tourney Champion will be awarded the Agincourt Plate. This will be awarded to any archer with the best combined placement score over the four events. Centenar of the West Marches will be awarded a Henry V Plate. This will be awarded to any archer who is not the Tourney Champion with the best combined placement score over the four events and is of the opposite gender to the Tourney Champion. Centenar of the East Marches will be awarded a Henry V Plate. This will be awarded to the junior archer of any age who has the best combined placement score over the four events. N.B The award score will be calculated using the Norton Computation method based on numeric placement and number of competitors. Tie breaks will initially be decided on highest number of hits followed by a one arrow Wand shot out if necessary. Target Round Winner Trophies and medals will be awarded for depending upon entry. Best Gold there will be one award in the target rounds for the nearest arrow to the centre of the gold at any of the longest distance or at the shortest distance if not already awarded. Senior Best Gold will be awarded the Kings Golden Coin. Junior Best Gold will be awarded the Golden Chalice. Medieval Round The Free Companies Shield will be awarded to the senior gent archer with the best aggregate Medieval score. Bowbearer to Bishop Langley will be awarded to the senior lady archer with the best aggregate Medieval score. Vintenar Awards will be awarded to the junior archers with the best aggregate medieval scores in the following age groups Under 18 / over 16 years Under 16 / over 14 years Under 14 / over 12 years Under 12 years The aggregate score will be rationalised for accuracy and consistency by dividing the scores by the number of hits. 5 Clout Shoot This event will be a Tassel Status Archery GB Metric Clout and shot according the Rule 707 at the following distances. All competitors for this event must sign the required declaration to confirm that they have received instruction for Clout Archery Senior Gent Senior Lady & Junior Gent under 18yrs Junior Gent U 16 & Junior Lady U 18yrs Junior Gent U 14 & Junior Lady U 16yrs Junior Gent U 12 & Junior Lady U 14yrs 165 m 125 m 110 m 90 m 75 m Score zones will be measured from the flag at the following radius distances; YELLOW 5 points 1.5 m RED 4 points 3.0 m BLUE 3 points 4.5 m BLACK 2 points 6.0 m WHITE 1 point 7.5 m Winner trophies and medals for each category will be awarded according to the number of entrants. Shooting the Mark This event will initiate the Northern version of Shooting the Mark Championship which we hope to continue as a yearly event! The traditional marks were road side distance or mile markers however we will be using simulated markers which can be repositioned during the event. Competitors will shoot in line using three arrows at the first Mark before advancing to score then shoot at the next Mark. The order of shooting will be Seniors Gent Archers first before the whole line advances to the Senior Lady Archers shooting line, followed by a second advance to the Junior Archers shooting line. Once all archers have shot the company will advance to score. There will be four rounds with each round consisting of five Marks. The Marks and or start location will be repositioned before commencing each round so that ranging distances will vary and at the end of the completion a total of 60 arrows will have been shot at 20 Marks. Traditional Mark distances are between 100 and 240 yards however for this Norton Mark distance will be between 80 yards and not exceeding clout distances where safety permits. Junior Archers under 16 years will shoot half distances. The scoring zones are based on a bow length at the pile

6 end with 12 points awarded at half a length (red), 7 points at three quarter of a length (green), and 3 points at two bow lengths (white). A minimum of four arrows all of the same length are need with the fourth one being used as a measure to estimate the position of the pile. Awards & Medals As all distances are equal for competitors in each category the trophies for each Northern Shooting the Mark Champion will be awarded to the archers with the highest score in four categories of Senior Gent, Senior Lady, Junior Archer (16-18 years) and Junior Archer (Under 16 years). Medals will be awarded in each category according to entry numbers. All events specifications are open to change at the organisers discretion!
