5 WELCOME TO THE 2016/2017 JUMPS SEASON AT ASCOT At the end of last season we unveiled our new unsaddling enclosure, which has been warmly welcomed by visiting horsemen during the summer months. I hope very much that our friends from the jumping community will find it a welcome enhancement too. Whilst investing in the equine facilities, we have also been working to improve the offering for the horses connections and have extended the size of our owners' and trainers' dining facilities. We are now able to offer owners and trainers a table for the whole day and won t need to turn any tables around for other users. As normal, six complimentary lunches with wine will be available per runner and further details of this and badging arrangements generally can be found in these pages. We were delighted with our jumps programme last year, both in quality terms and numerically 508, up from 430 in 2014/2015, an 18% increase. Four Ascot winners last season went on to win at the Cheltenham Festival, including Ryanair Chase winner, Vautour; and three Ascot winners were placed. Anglo-Irish competition is, of course, at the heart of jumps racing and we were particularly delighted to be able to welcome 16 runners from across the Irish Sea last season (10 in 2014/2015), three of which won. Over 1.9 million will be on offer over our eight jumps fixtures this season and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to all our valued friends from the jumps community over the winter. 6 BADGE INFORMATION GOING Up to the minute Going reports are available from Chris Stickels, Clerk of the Course. Please call or BADGE INFORMATION All owners with runners will be entitled to OWNER/TRAINER badges on the day their horse(s) run. These will gain entry to the racecourse, to the O & T facilities, to the O & T viewing, to the King Edward VII areas (as long as the dress code is adhered to) and to the Pre-Parade Ring and Parade Ring. If you have a runner at Ascot and would like to apply for badges, please contact Kirsty Sargeant, Owners & Trainers Manager on kirsty.sargeant@ ascot.co.uk or and she will be able to assist you. BADGE ALLOCATION All owners are entitled to six complimentary OWNER/TRAINER badges per runner. We also allocate six lunch tickets per runner which gain the recipients access to the dining room and complimentary lunch. We do try to help owners out as much as possible, so if you require some further badges then please do contact Kirsty Sargeant (kirsty.sargeant@ascot.co.uk or ) and hopefully she will be able to help. We appreciate that ownership comes in many forms and will endeavor to accommodate the needs of syndicates and clubs as best we can. We understand that having a day out to watch your horse run is an exciting occasion and we hope to be able to make it as memorable and enjoyable as possible. BADGE COLLECTION Badge collection is from the Owners & Trainers Desk in Ticket Office West. This is the white brick building located next to the West turnstiles. Badges will mainly be left under the horse's name and we do ask that on busy days, owners bring identification or their PASS card for collection. 6

7 TRAINERS Trainers can gain entry to the course with their metal NTF badges. Trainers with runners are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day. Trainers with runners are also entitled to lunch for themselves and a guest. They can gain access to the dining room with their metal NTF badge, or can collect a lunch ticket from the O & T desk upon arrival. If you do not have a metal NTF badge, please book a lunch ticket in advance with Kirsty Sargeant (kirsty.sargeant@ascot.co.uk or ). JOCKEYS Jockeys can gain entry to the course with their metal PJA badges. Jockeys with a ride on the day are then entitled to two OWNER/TRAINER badges for guests on the day. They can arrange this upon arrival, in advance via the PJA or by to kirsty.sargeant@ascot.co.uk. Please note that jockey s guest badges will not be released unless the jockey has requested them in person or in advance. A physiotherapist will be on site on all racedays for those who require treatment. METAL BADGES NTF, PJA AND RCA metal badges are valid on all of our Jumps fixtures. RCA badges will not gain entry to the O & T facilities. 7

8 OWNER AND TRAINER FACILITIES DINING ROOM We offer the opportunity for six owners per runner, plus the trainer and a guest to take advantage of our complimentary hot carvery lunch. This includes a starter, choice of main course, dessert and wine. We also provide complimentary afternoon tea. Timings for lunch are from am to 2.30 pm. As a new initiative for the 2016/2017 Jumps season, owners are now offered a table for the day in the dining rooms and these will be allocated on arrival. Each person dining will be issued with a lunch ticket and Old Paddock Restaurant badge. This is all served in the Old Paddock Restaurant and the connected Owners & Trainers Dining Room, which is located before you reach the Owners & Trainers Bar. Lunch must be booked in advance by either completing the form sent by Weatherbys or by contacting Kirsty Sargeant, kirsty.sargeant@ascot.co.uk. Please note that we cannot take dining bookings on the day of racing. Please ensure lunch is booked by 4 pm the day before racing. Please also make us aware of any children who will be attending the lunch. VIEWING Owners and trainers with a runner can view the races from our two dedicated viewing areas. One is located underneath the Royal Box, giving easy access from the Parade Ring. The other is to the left of the horsewalk. Admittance to the viewing area is with an OWNER/TRAINER badge or NTF metal badge. STABLING AND HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION We have 175 stables situated in a secure yard away from the road and close to the hostel with ample parking for cars and lorries. We provide paper or shavings and while we will endeavour to meet your bedding requirements, your preferred bedding cannot be guaranteed. The staff hostel has 125 beds in 42 rooms with shared bathrooms and separate male and female corridors. Bedrooms sleep up to three people in single beds. The hostel also has a large dining room, lounge area and a bar. Accommodation must be booked in advance. If you wish to stable your runners overnight or use the hostel for your stable staff, we require advance notification the day before racing. Feel free to relax in here before or after your race and the bar is open for one hour after the last race. 8

10 GALLOPS Gallops are available between 8am and 8:30am each morning. Please book in with the Stable Manager before proceeding to the course. HORSEBOXES Horsebox entry to the stables is next to Car Park 2 from Ascot High Street. Please follow signs to Car Park 2 and then look for the stables sign on the High Street. VETERINARY PROVISION Personnel on duty to specifically attend to any equine injury/incident: Senior Veterinary Surgeon: Svend Kold 3 x Veterinary Surgeons: Simon Knapp, Clive Hamblin, Bobby McEwen 1 x Veterinary Technician/Nurse based at the stables 2 x Horse Ambulances with specialist drivers 1 x Horse Recovery Vehicle 1 x Mobile Response Vehicle with 1 x Groundsman 2 x Veterinary Treatment Boxes (1 at stables and 1 near pre-parade Ring) 2 x Farriers All of these personnel are in radio contact with each other and are able to contact the Clerk of the Course and other racing officials. Two of the veterinary surgeons follow the runners during each race and are in a position to respond to any incident as quickly as possible. One veterinary surgeon is located at the finish ready to respond if required. The other veterinary surgeon oversees the Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring, Winners' Enclosure and can go to the stables as required. There will be at least one veterinary surgeon based in the Pre-Parade Ring, one in the Parade Ring, one at the start and one at the finish (when there are horses in these areas). Each vet carries their own equipment to an injured horse. The four veterinary surgeons on duty are all specialist equine vets; three of the vets on duty each do approximately 100 racedays on various courses during a year. 12 CAR PARKING AND TRAVELLING TO ASCOT Trainers and jockeys are entitled to one car parking space in the Trainers & Jockeys car park (Car Park 2). Please display your NTF or PJA label to gain access. Owners with runners on the day need to go to Car Park 2 and give the name of their runner. We allocate one space for single owners and two spaces for joint/ partnership/syndicate horses. If you require further parking then please contact Kirsty Sargeant and she will be able to assist kirsty.sargeant@ascot.co.uk, If you require disabled parking in Car Park 2, please ensure your blue badge is clearly displayed and give the name of your horse on arrival. You will then be given priority, forward parking. DIRECTIONS TO CAR PARK 2 If you are arriving by car, please note that roads around the racecourse can be congested at times. From London and the North: M4 Junction 6 onto the A332 Windsor by-pass and follow signs to Ascot. From the West: M4 Junction 10 to the A329(M) signposted Bracknell and follow signs to Ascot. From the South and East: M3 Junction 3 onto the A332 signposted Bracknell and follow signs to Ascot. From the Midlands: M40 southbound, Junction 4. Take the A404 towards M4 (Junction 8/9). On M4 head towards Heathrow/London leaving at Junction 6 and follow the A332 Windsor by-pass to Ascot. HELICOPTER FACILITIES If you wish to book a charter helicopter please call our new preferred partner Fresh Air or ascot@freshair-uk.com. Or if you wish to take advantage of our new Park and Fly service please call Fresh Air quoting Ascot park & fly , ascot@freshair-uk.com. This is priced at 395 per person (inc VAT) and subject to limited availability. It is not suitable for fixed-wing private aircraft. 12

13 If you are flying with your own charter to book your landing, please ask your charter company to contact Helicopter and Aviation Services on Nearest airfields are Fairoaks, Chobham and White Waltham, Maidenhead, both approximately nine miles away. If you are arriving by helicopter we can arrange for your Owner & Trainer badges to be available for collection from the entrance in Car Park 1. 14 NEW UNSADDLING ENCLOSURE Earlier this year we completed our 600,000 project to construct a new Unsaddling Enclosure. The new oval lawn was designed to merge into the landscaping of the preparade ring and parade ring and provides a larger area for unplaced horses and their connections. 14

20 GENER AL INFORMATION 20 DRESS CODE Ladies generally like to dress as for a smart occasion. Gentlemen usually wear a jacket with a collared shirt and tie. Whilst this style of dress is preferred in the King Edward VII enclosure during the Jumps season, it is not compulsory. HOSPITALITY AND DINING If you would like to book your own hospitality package on the day, owners with runners are given a preferential rate on most of our racedays. To book upgraded hospitality please contact Kirsty Sargeant, Owners & Trainers Manager who will be able to assist with this; kirsty.sargeant@ascot. co.uk, We also offer a preferential rate for owners with runners for the hire of private boxes and loges on our racedays.
