In order to encourage exhibitors to attend our show from a distance the stalls will be rented in priority to our overnight exhibitors on a first reserved/paid basis. Balance of stalls will be reserved on a first reserved/paid basis. The box stalls/pipe corrals will remain as separate rentals and cannot be combined. Any unavailable stalls paid in advance will be refunded at the show by the issuance of a new entry check for payment. Page 1
3 PLEASE REMEMBER When filling out your entry form, please remember to read and sign the liability form. Please write your full name and address so we can add you to our mailing list of premiums. A parent or guardian must sign for entrants under the age of 18. ENTRIES Mail your completely filled out entry form with payment or open check. Entries may be returned or not accepted if incomplete. Post entry penalty of $25 will be charged to entries received after closing date. Entries received prior to closing date will enable the show to process those horses in advance and this will make for less confusion to all exhibitors upon arrival. IMPORTANT (BE SURE TO SIGN UP) In order to accumulate points for LSAC year-end awards, all entered riders must be signed up with LSAC. ALL LSAC YEAR-END AWARDS To qualify & accumulate points for year-end awards and overalls, you must sign up & pay the one-time LSAC fee for each rider and horse owner. (This must be done by the 2nd show you enter for points to count). Rider/horse must show in 3 out of 4 shows. When competing for Year-End Overall Awards, riders are NOT required to compete in the same classes at each show and may add or subtract classes as long as they enter the minimum of required classes for their division. Members must be in good standing and abide by all rules. *Remember... points count only after these fees have been paid and this must be done by the 2nd show you enter. Points will be retroactive. All classes with 3 or more entries in 3 of the 4 shows will be fully sponsored by LSAC. Any Youth/Amateur class failing to meet this criteria will be provided an alternate year-end award upon approval of the LSAC board. 7 PLEASE READ! 1. LSAC Shows follow the guidelines of PCHA & USEF EQUESTRIAN, except where LSAC prevails. California drug laws apply. Below is a basic list of rules, however, these are not all-inclusive. Please refer to USEF EQUESTRIAN and PCHA for further details. It is the responsibility of each owner & exhibitor to be able to furnish proof of eligibility of horse/rider in the event of protest. The decision of the judge is final. For protest procedures see PCHA rules. 2. All exhibitors must sign the liability release form prior to showing. Parent or legal guardian must sign for riders under the age of Stallion handlers/riders must be 18 years or older. Mules, burros & donkeys are prohibited. 4. Entries will close 5 minutes before class. No entries will be accepted at backgate or announcer booth. 5. All dogs must be leashed. GENERAL LSAC RULES 6. Schooling is allowed as long as horse & rider are eligible for the class entered. Entrants must wear proper attire, wear their number upside down, and ride non-disruptively. Entrants will not be counted as entries for points or show awards. Humane equipment only. LSAC reserves the right to excuse any entrant disrupting a class. 7. Safety-approved helmets are recommended for riders under the age of 18. Proper attire is required in all classes unless otherwise stated (ASTM/SEI Certified). 8. LSAC endorses USEF EQUESTRIAN rules regarding amateur riders - an Amateur rider is a person 19 years & older who does not accept remuneration for the following: riding, training, showing in halter, schooling, conducting clinics/seminars, or instructing. The show office may request proof of Amateur status. Current USEF EQUESTRIAN or breed association cards are required. 9. (11 & Under) Walk-Jog Leadline Walk-Jog riders will ride on the rail. Lead-line riders will ride a smaller circle inside the walk-jog pattern, closer to the center of the arena, well away from the walk-joggers. TO BE JUDGED CONCURRENTLY, one set of awards. Riders to never have shown in any other performance class prior to December 1 of preceding year. Entrants in this class are ineligible to ride in any other class. Lead shanks must be attached to a halter in leadline class. Show attire not required. 10. No Frill Classes (Walk, Jog, Lope) May not enter in any other riding division. Must have never shown in any other riding class except LSAC Beginner Classes or Walk-Jog Lead-Line 11 & Under. No show clothing (i.e., suit, chaps) is allowed. The following is required & limited to long sleeved shirt, long pants, and boots. Helmets recommended. Western hat & belt are optional. Show legal bits, snaffle bits or mechanical hackamore OK. No martingales, tiedowns. Two Hands Allowed. Silver tack will not be judged above good working tack. Any silver is discouraged. 11. Walk/Jog Trail Open Horse may not show in any other trail class that lopes that day. 12. Showmanship To be judged on the handler with points awarded to handler. 13. Horsemanship Pattern work required. Rail work at the judge s discretion. To be judged on rider and points given to rider. 14. Any horse may be used in classes judged on rider providing that each rider and horse owner has been registered & paid for year-end awards. Exception: Overall Awards where one horse/rider combo is stipulated. 15. Points will be awarded to the horse in classes judged on horse and need not be the same rider except in Overall classes where points are calculated on a one horse/rider combination. Any discrepancy must be reported within 30 days of point of publication to show manager. Horse must show under same name all year unless show manager is notified prior to change. 18. For LSAC Year-end awards, ties will be handled in the following manner: The horse/exhibitor who has competed in that class the greater number of times will win. If there is a tie, the horse/exhibitor with the most first place awards (most seconds, thirds, etc.) until the tie is broken. 19. RETURNED CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be charged a 10% penalty (min. $25). Accounts will have ten days to be paid in full with cash or money order or they will be reported to the organization for further displinary action. 20. The rider s age as of Dec. 1st of the previous year will be considered their show age throughout the current year. The horse s age is considered as of Jan. 1st of current year whatever age they turn during that same year. 21. Maiden Prior Rider Has never won any blue ribbons at any horse show in the division in which they are showing prior to Dec. 1 of the previous year (Walk/Jog Division does not apply). Show attire required. 22. Class Prizes Will be given to winners of classes that have a minimum of three (3) entries. SHOW MANAGEMENT: Reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or rising out of an incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered by these rules and regulations shall be decided by show management and their decision shall be final. Show Management reserves to itself the right to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries; disqualify riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries and cancel award prizes without claim of damages; to change any course, to cancel, combine, or reschedule classes, change arenas, or rotate judges after due notice to exhibitors. MINOR EXHIBITORS: Parents or guardians of minor children shall hold Ernie Howlett Park, LSAC, and members of show staff harmless from injury of such minor. No minors entry form will be valid without a signature of parent or guardian. CONDITION OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition must abide by the rules and regulations of the horse show. The show management will in no case be responsible for condition of horses entered. Each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show, directors and employees, LSAC, and members of the show staff harmless for any loss or accident to his horse(s), or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire, or otherwise. 9 PCHA RULES & REGULATIONS This show is governed by the rules and regulations of the current USEF, PCHA, NRHA, and CRHA handbooks and will be conducted and judged in accordance herein. Open to all Breeds. JUNIOR HORSE: Horses 5 years and under. May be shown in a hackamore, or ring snaffle bit with two hands. May be shown in a bridle (one handed) and switched back and forth. SENIOR HORSE: Horses 6 years and older. Must be shown in a bridle. GREEN HORSE: A 1st or 2nd Year Green Horse is a horse that has not been shown as of Dec. 1 two years prior, excluding futurities. PRELIMINARY TRAIL: A preliminary trail horse is a horse that has not placed in the top two (2) in the year-end award standings of any Breed Association in the Trail division. (Exception: PCHA Green championship or Youth/ Am Preliminary awards.) A horse that has won the PCHA Preliminary year-end championship is no longer eligible for Preliminary classes. YOUTH/AMATEUR PRELIMINARY TRAIL: A Youth/Amateur Preliminary Trail horse is a horse that has not placed in the top two (2) in the year-end award standings of any Breed Association in the Trail division. (Exception: PCHA Green championship awards and Preliminary Open awards.) A horse that has won the Preliminary Youth/ Am Year-end championship is no longer eligible for Preliminary Youth/Am classes. INTERMEDIATE TRAIL: An intermediate trail horse is a horse that has not placed in the top two (2) in the year-end award standings of any Western Association. (Exception: Green. Preliminary and Walk/Jog Trail.) YOUTH/AMATEUR PRELIMINARY HORSEMANSHIP: A Youth/Amateur Preliminary Horsemanship rider is a rider who has not placed in the top two (2) in the award standings of any Western Association in the Horsemanship Division. (Exception: Walk Jog/Limit/Basic Division.) LIMITED AMATEUR NON-PRO: Open to any rider 19 years or age or older holding a non pro card who has earned less than $2,500 at the start of the new year. (Points go to rider). BASIC: Youth/Amateur: Open to Youth and Amateur riders in their first or second year of showing in the respective division at PCHA shows, or at any show. A rider is no longer eligible to compete in this class if he/she wins the Yearend Championship Award in any other Division. If a rider rides more than one horse in a basic trail or reining class, he/ she earns only the points for his/her horse placing the highest. YOUTH/AMATEUR: Youth riders (18 and under) and Amateur riders (19 and over). LIMIT PRIOR RIDER YOUTH/AMATEUR (Trail, Pleasure, Horsemanship): Open to youth and amateur riders that have never won more than six blue ribbons at any show in the division in which they are showing prior to December 1 of the previous year (Exception: walk/jog division). Although in pleasure and trail, the horse is being judged, the point system is to be on the rider rather than on the horse. If a rider rides more than one horse in limit prior rider trail, he/she earns only the points for his/her ride on the horse placing the highest. Page 8 Cont d on page 9
10 Cont d from page 8 WALK/JOG YOUTH/AMATEUR (Trail, Pleasure, Horsemanship): Open to youth and amateur riders that have not shown at the lope in any division, at any show current or in prior years. Rider is no longer eligible to compete in this class if rider has won a championship award in this specific division. RANCH RIDING: Rules, Regulations, Patterns and Specifications are available per American Quarter Horse Association. JACK/LINDA BAKER CLASSIC QUALIFIER: A qualifying class open to Youth and Non Pro rider. Ten points are required to qualify for the classic ( ). The PCHA Jack and Linda Baker Reining Classic Finals will have three sections: an Open section which all qualifying horse/rider combinations must enter, and two age group sections; the Under 50 section for riders under 50 years of age and the Prime Time section for riders 50 years of age and over. To enter an age group section, a rider must be of the appropriate age for the section and must meet the following criteria. RIDER, HORSE, AND TRAINER MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF PCHA 1. Rider has not earned $500 in total NRHA earnings at the beginning of the calendar year of the Finals. 2. Rider has not been Champion or Reserve Champion in any previously held JBRC or JLBRC Final. 3. Rider has not been a Reining Champion or Reserve Champion in a breed association or national horse association: e.g., including but not limited to the following: NRHA Futurity, AQHA World Show, AQHA Congress, IAHA Nationals, APHA World.
