29 Task Force «Unite4Heritage» First phase: conception of the project UNESCO BOKOVA TO FRANCESCHINI: BLUE HELMETS OF CULTURE IMPORTANT AND COURAGEOUS PROPOSAL The UNESCO Director General, Irina Bokova, has phoned this afternoon to the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, to express satisfaction regarding 'the important and courageous proposal to establish a force of the United Nations dedicated to the protection the cultural heritage sites of mankind to respond to serious terrorist attacks. 34 Task Force «Unite4Heritage» The Task Force is activated to assist, support or replace the local personnel in activities of protection and safeguarding of Cultural Heritage. Two kinds of tasks can be assigned to the Unit: preventive, when the Task Force intervenes to support the local authority responsible for limiting the risks to national cultural heritage in case of crisis or emergency situations; operative, in time and crisis areas, when the Task Force intervenes, in a security framework, to support (or replace, if necessary) the local authority responsible for the protection, due to crises or emergencies that have compromised the national cultural heritage.

TASKS IN DETAIL catalog of archaeological sites and monuments attacked or at risk of criminal assault; identification and safeguarding of archaeological sites, monuments and safe havens of movable cultural property deemed of national interest; index of the National Cultural Heritage; definition and implementation of transfer procedures of movable cultural items to safe havens; registration of immovable artifacts and safe havens in the register of enhanced protection, according to the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of '54; training of Police Forces and Organizations involved in the protection of Cultural Heritage, technical and operational support in contrast to clandestine excavations and illicit trade in cultural heritage; identification of cultural artifacts unlawfully removed from the National Heritage and signaling for inclusion in the Carabinieri TPC database of cultural items unlawfully removed and in the Interpol "WOA" database.
