It s design takes advantage of the natural wildlife and surrounding wide-open terrain to present an inviting challenge to any level of golfer playmather.com Dry Creek golf course is aprox 15 miles away, and is considered one of the top 50 public golf courses in the country green fees are reasonable and the course is mature. Emerald Lakes is another exceptional course and is only 6 miles from the ranch it is considered an executive course and has 18 holes and mostly 3 and 4 par. Wild Hawk is relatively a new course and the closest to the ranch only 3 miles and is very challenging. Wine Tasting River Rafting Plan a world class river rafting trip down the nearby American River (whitewaterexcitement.com ) or go for something a little more relaxing starting near Folsom and ending near Cal State Sacramento (American River Raft Rentals ). Visit the Amador Wine Country, just 25 short minutes from Brookside on Highway 16 East. Let your imagination run wild with the fairy tale theme at DAHA s spring show. Pick your favorite fairy tale-- I ll huff and I ll puff, My...what big eyes you have grandmother, Who can wear this glass slipper, This porridge is juuuuuust right. Be creative; have fun with it. Live the fantasy and embrace the child in you as you decorate your stalls or create whimsical costumes for our Fairy Tale Costume Class--All this and more is coming to you in May. Time to start thinking. It will be here before you know it! Stall Decorating Contest All three division winners( 1-4 stalls, 5-10 stalls & 11 stalls and over) will receive $100 plus your choice of stalls for the 2011 Spring show and a beautiful winner s cup full of chocolate gold coins. Please sign-up at the show office when you check in. Judging is usually scheduled for sometime Saturday. (All Brookside Equestrian Park rules apply to the decorating of your stalls). Fairy Tales Costume Class The Fairy Tale Costume Class will be Saturday afternoon after all of the regular classes. There will be a 20 minute break between classes so that you have extra time to decorate you and your horse. Special awards and money will be given to the winners in each division, 1-2 riders, 3-5 riders and 6 riders and more. This will be a walk only class. USEF Amateur Status must appear in appropriate place on USEF card for Adult Amateur or exhibitor must sign affidavit of eligibility. POST ENTRY DEADLINE For horses already entered in the show, post entries will be accepted up to 1 hour prior to the class, except in Dressage. Post entries in dressage must be approved by the Dressage Manager, Annette Wells. New horses must be entered 4 hours prior to the class. DRESSAGE Dressage classes may not run in the order listed. Effective March 1, 2011, for dressage: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St. Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test). FARRIER A farrier will be available on the grounds during show hours. FIRE REGULATIONS PROHIBIT PARKING BETWEEN BARNS As soon as you unload your horse, please move your vehicle to a designated parking area. Parking in the barn area is prohibited. Vehicles in No Parking areas will be towed at the owner s expense. Access to the barn area during the show hours will be limited! Specific areas have been set aside for parking horse trailers and vans of exhibitors reserving stalls; other specific areas have been set-aside for exhibitors showing from the trailer. Trailers may be moved by Brookside management if not parked properly. No prize money checks will be mailed after the show. Checks will be void 60 days from May 22, REFUNDS To encourage early entries, the management agrees to cancel and refund entry and stall fees on any horse not fit to show providing written notice is given to the Show Secretary on or before May 19, 2011 Requests received between May 19 and May 22, 2011 for show management will consider refunds due to illness, injury or accidents. All requests must be in writing, accompanied by Veterinarian Certificate, and must be received by the Show Secretary prior to the start of the show. On approved refunds, all class fees will be refunded. No refunds will be made on stall fee, tack stall fee, or resolution fee. Any refunds will be made by mail, approximately one month after the show. FOOTING Sand footing in all arenas and warm up rings. Ring dimensions are as follows: Main Arena 275 x 150, Arena #2 240 x150, and Grand Prix 150 x240. The warm up arenas are 200 x 150. RV OVERNIGHT Limited RV hook-ups (15 AMP) are available on reservation only. RV spaces must be reserved. Any rig plugged into an electrical hook-up will be considered an RV. Flat Fee of $125 for entire show. Very limited electrical power is available especially on hot days. Please bring your own generator just in case it is needed. Some electrical power improvements have been made to Brookside both in the barns and RV hook-ups, but it is still not KOA quality. SHOW OFFICE AND REGISTRATION Registration at the Horse Show Office by the exhibitor is required upon arrival at the show grounds. The show office will open at 10 AM on Wednesday May 18, and daily one hour prior to the start of the first class. Closed for lunch and dinner. Closed after the last class of each day except Sunday. Office will stay open 1 hour after the last class. STABLING ASSIGNMENTS - NO STALLS WILL BE RESERVED WITHOUT PRE-PAYMENT IN FULL. Assignment of stalls is entirely at the discretion of the Barn & Show Manager. Horses must be placed in stalls assigned and no changes will be permitted without the express consent of the Barn Manager. Assignments will be made as fairly as possible on the basis of many considerations, including sponsorship support, number of horses, past participation in this show, optimum use and convenience, show decor, time of receipt of entries, ring use, number of classes entered and access considerations. We ask your cooperation in these assignments and once assignments have been made, please do not deviate without specific approval of the Barn Manager. Patron sponsors will have 1st priority over stable assignments. Exhibitors wishing to be stabled together should submit their entries in the same envelope. Please indicate on the entry form (stable with line) any special requests. Assignments will be made on early-entry, first-assigned basis. Management will try to stable late entries as closely as possible to other entries, but there are no guarantees. Show management s decision is final. STABLING FACILITIES - LIMITED Each animal must be assigned to a separate stall (exception: broodmares with suckling foals). Horses must be placed in the stalls assigned. No changes will be permitted without express consent of the Barn Manager. Stalls will be available Wednesday, May 18, 2011 and must be vacated no later than Sunday, May 22, Exhibitors arriving prior to or departing later than these specified times should contact the Show Manager and make special arrangements and will be required to pay an additional daily fee of $10.00 per stall per day. Portable stalls (canvas) with double doors including one bag of shavings will be $110. Exhibitors may show from their trailers Trailer Fee is $20 per horse. Every horse entered in this show, (except nursing foals with their dams) must pay either a stall or trailer fee no exceptions. Exhibitors requesting special stall arrangements for being handicapped or disabled must have the blue State Handicap Card. Card number must be listed with the stall request. Stall decorations shall be made of non-flammable material or treated and maintained in a flame retardant condition (Fire Marshall sub-chapter 8). No nails, staples, screws, etc. are allowed in stalls. No straw allowed. Only manure and shavings may be put in the manure piles or left in the stalls. Please put all trash in the trashcans. Any exhibitor found in violation of this rule will be charged accordingly for repair and repainting. SUBSTITUTIONS Substitution of a horse may not be made after the announced closing date of entries. TWO-MINUTE GATE RULE Due to a full schedule of classes, the two-minute limit for gates will be strictly enforced. Exhibitors are cautioned against entering the same horse in successive classes. The gate will close two minutes after the first horse enters the ring or in the case with large classes taking more than two minutes, as the final horse in a continuous string of horses. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to ensure that his/her horse is at the gate on time. Class calls must be considered a courtesy only. No protests will be upheld on the basis of a public address system malfunction. VETERINARIAN A veterinarian will be on premises during the show. All animals are subject to physical inspection by the Show Veterinarian at the discretion of the Show Committee. ADMISSION TO THE RING No person will be permitted to enter the ring except participants in the class, judges, and their assistants and show officials. Attendants and grooms may enter the ring only when summoned by order of the judge. AGE OF HORSES For horse show purposes, any horse shall be considered to be one year old on the first day of January following the actual date of foaling. A Junior Horse is one that is 5 years old and under. USEF MEMBERSHIP RULE Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides provided the respective breed/discipline dues or breed/discipline category fee has been paid.

13 A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee for each breed/discipline. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) lead line; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions, 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11)assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. CRUELTY Cruelty to or the abuse of a horse by any person at a recognized show is forbidden. Excessive use of a whip on any horse in a stall, runway, schooling area, show ring, or elsewhere on the show grounds before or during a show, by any person, constitutes a violation and renders the offender subject to penalty. (See GR302). USEF AMATEUR CERTIFICATION 1. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under Federation rules must possess current amateur certification issued by the Federation. This certification must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such certification provided by the Federation. Forms may be obtained from the Federation. Certification will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Any person who has not reached his/her 18th birthday is an amateur and does not require amateur certification. 2. An amateur continues to be such until he/she has received a change in status from the Federation. Any amateur who wishes to be re-classified on the grounds that he/she has engaged or is planning on engaging in activities which would prevent him/her from continuing to remain an amateur must notify the Federation in writing. AMATEUR/OWNER TO RIDE CLASSES An Owner s Class is one in which every contestant is an Amateur and the rider, handler, or driver is the Owner or an Amateur Member of the owner s family (See GR106). Combined ownership is not permitted in Amateur/Owner classes unless all owners are members of the same family. Leased horses are not eligible for amateur owner to ride classes CROSS ENTRIES ARABIANS AND HALF-ARABIANS Cross-entries are prohibited between Country English Pleasure section and the English Pleasure and Pleasure Driving Sections and/or Informal Combinations classes at the same show. Cross-entries are prohibited between the Pleasure Driving sections and the Country Pleasure Driving and Country Pleasure sections and/or Country Pleasure Combinations classes at the same show. DRUG AND MEDICATION All horses entered in the competition must be assessed a fee of $20 per horse to defray the expenses of the Drug Testing. Horses in competition at a recognized competition are subject to examination by licensed veterinarian or appointed technician to perform certain duties under GR402. This fee is for both USEF and the State of California. EXHIBITOR IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS Each horse entered in this show will be assigned an identification number for this show. Correct numbers must be worn by the riders and handlers in all classes. HOOF RULE See rule AR103 in the USEF Rulebook. HORSE OF THE YEAR AWARD All class A USEF Arabian Division Shows enables exhibitors who have nominated their horses in the USEF High Point Awards Program to receive points in accordance with USEF GR900. For the horse to receive USEF points toward Horse of the Year Awards the ownership must be transferred with our records or points will go to the name of the owner on the papers. INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSES All entries are accepted with the understanding that the Diablo Arabian Horse Association and the Brookside Equestrian Park will not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any horse exhibited, or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee but solely at the risk of the exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person, animal or property occasioned by him, his agents or employees, or by an animal owned or exhibited by him, and shall indemnify Diablo Arabian Horse Association and the Brookside Equestrian Park against any and all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including but not limited to any and all legal costs, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the revisions herein set forth. JUDGES If, for any reason, a judge fails to attend this show or perform his duties, the Show Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge for the one who is officially designated in the Prize List. It is a violation of USEF Rules to commit any act or make remarks during the show that are considered offensive and/or made with the intent to influence or cast aspersions on the judging. No one shall approach a Judge with regard to a decision or at any time unless he first obtains permission from the Show Committee or Steward who shall arrange an appointment with the Judge at a proper time and place. JUNIOR EXHIBITORS To be eligible, riders must not have reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current competition year. The age of an individual on December 1st will be maintained throughout the entire competition year. Persons born on December 1st assume the greater age on that date. SELECT AAOTR RIDERS Classes are open to a rider/driver/handler that has not won any of the following: 1. AHA Regional Top Five or better in the corresponding class or any open class in the respective section; 2. AHA National Top Ten or better in the corresponding class or any open class in the respective section; 3. Two AHA Regional Top Five or higher in a corresponding Select class, 4. AHA National Top Ten or higher award in a corresponding Select class. Riders of Arabian, Half-Arabian/Anglo Arabian horses competing in the same section shall not be considered separately. If a rider is eligible to compete as a Select rider in a respective section on December 1, said eligibility remains throughout the competition year. NOVICE AND LIMIT HORSES/EXHIBITORS A Novice horse or exhibitor is one, which has not won three 1st place ribbons. A Limit horse or exhibitor is one, which has not won six 1st place ribbons at a Recognized Show of the USEF. In the Arabian Division, ribbons won within a section shall not count in reckoning maiden/novice/limit status if the animal or exhibitor is transferred to a new classification (e.g. Arabian Park to Arabian Western Pleasure, etc.) at a Regular Member Show (Class A, B, or C) of American Horse Shows Association or the Canadian Equestrian Federation. For purposes of this show, a maiden, novice, or limit horse or exhibitor is as of the date of closing of entries. HACKAMORES AND SNAFFLES Hackamores (Bosals) and standard snaffles (as defined in Rule XVI, Article ) are permitted on ALL horses five years and under in all Western classes. Two hands may be used on hackamore (Bosal) and Western snaffle reins. PROTESTS Should any question or dispute arise, it must be protested in the same manner prescribed by USEF Rule GR603. A protest may be received by the Steward, Show Secretary, Show Manager or by a member of the Show Committee within 48 hours of the alleged violation HALF-ARABIAN COLTS Half-Arabian Colts/Stallions, two years and older, are excluded from all halter classes. REFUSAL OF ENTRIES The management reserves the rights to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries to any exhibitor, as stated in USEF GR 1509.

14 RULES This Horse Show is conducted in accordance with the rules of USEF. The Prize List and the show are based on rules of the current USEF Rule Book and the AHA Handbook; any changes or corrections of rules will automatically become a part of the Prize List. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject to the USEF and AHA Rules. Every class offered herein which is covered by the Rules and Specification of the current USEF Rule Book and the AHA Handbook will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Questions not covered by USEF and AHA Rules shall be decided by the Show Committee and its decisions will be final. MOTORIZED VEHICLES Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above, described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Rule 6. For details on member benefits, including educational programs, awards, and other opportunities, refer to the USDF Competitor & Member Guide or the USDF Web site at UMembership Requirements for USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized Competitions:U Owners and riders, including foreign riders and owners who are not residents of the US, wishing to participate in a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition as a rider or This competition is recognized by USDF for 2011 owner/lessee, must have either a USDF Group Membership, Participating Membership (PM), or have a USDF Non-Member (NM) identification number and pay the USDF NM fee. (Note: USDF business members can own horses but cannot compete as riders with their USDF BM.) Individuals cannot compete at a USEFlicensed/USDF-recognized competition with a USDF Education Membership. Horses competing at USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions must have either a USDF Horse Identification (HID) number or a USDF Lifetime Horse Registration (LHR). Proper credentials or verification certificates must be presented to the competition secretary. Riders and owners wishing to participate in a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition, and not able to present the competition secretary with verification of a USDF membership or NM identification, and USDF LHR or USDF HID, must complete a USDF Competition Affidavit Form and pay the $5 affidavit filing fee. A copy of a completed affidavit form from another competition may also be used for verification purposes for up to 60 days. (Exception: Affidavits cannot be used at Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championships.) Exceptions: Horses competing only in Individual Breed Classes (IBCs) at DSHB competitions, sires and dams of horses in DSHB group classes, where those sires or dams are not actually competing in the same competition, horses competing only in breed restricted dressage or DSHB classes at Regular Competitions (e.g. all Arabian, all Friesian, or all Morgan classes), or in USDF Introductory Level tests, Pas de Deux, Quadrille, FEI ParaEquestrian classes, are exempt from this requirement. Also exempt are horses ridden in leadline, exhibitions, games and races, classes for 4-H members, walk-trot, academy and opportunity classes. For foreign-owned horses competing in a CDI, USDF accepts copies of the horse identification pages from an FEI passport in lieu of a USDF HID or LHR number. Riders and owners/lessees competing only in classes which are exempt from the USDF HID requirements are also exempt from the USDF NM identification number and NM fee requirements. Also exempt are handlers of horses competing in DSHB In-Hand or Group classes. Memberships Defined Participating Membership (PM): A membership issued to an individual directly by USDF. The membership year is December 1 through November 30. PMs are available for 1-year ($75), 5-years ($300), or life ($1,500). A USDF Youth Participating Membership (YPM) is available for individuals who have not reached their 21 st birthday by December 1 of the current membership year ($60). A PM allows the member to compete at USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions and to participate as a rider and/or owner/lessee for all Adequan /USDF Year-End Awards, Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders Championship Series Finals and the Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championship program. Group Membership (GM): A membership issued to an individual by USDF when the member name and dues are submitted to USDF through an affiliate Group Member Organization (GMO). The GM year begins December 1 and ends November 30. A GM allows the member to compete at USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions and participate in the USDF Rider Awards program. Business Membership (BM): A membership that runs December 1 through November 30 and is issued to a business or organization directly by USDF. The USDF BM ($200) offers a wider variety of advertising benefits. BMs satisfy requirements of horse ownership only. Education Membership (e-membership): A membership issued to an individual directly by USDF. This online education only membership expires 12 months after the date joined. This membership type does NOT allow an individual to compete at a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition. Non-Member (NM) Identification Number: For each USDF NM owner/lessee and USDF NM rider there will be a USDF NM fee of $25 and a USDF NM form per competition that must be collected by the show secretary and submitted to USDF along with the USDF Report of Fees document and the $5 affidavit fee if the person cannot provide a copy of their USDF NM card. Owners/lessees or riders exempt from the NM number requirements are also exempt from paying the USDF NM fee. If there are multiple owners of a horse and all are NMs, only one of the owners must pay the NM fee. If the horse has at least one owner who is a current USDF member there is no NM fee assessed. Competition management will be invoiced for all applicable USDF NM fees not received with the USDF post competition paperwork, along with a report listing all USDF NMs. Competition management is then required to submit the NM fees within 30 days to the USDF. An individual with a USDF NM identification number is not eligible for any USDF membership benefits. Once a USDF NM number has been assigned, a USDF NM card can be obtained from the USDF Web site. Horse Identification (HID) Number: A one-time tracking number for horses ($25). Scores earned by a horse with an HID number will be recorded, but will NOT be counted towards Adequan /USDF Year-End Awards. A horse with an HID number is not eligible to compete in Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional qualifying or championship classes or Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders Championship Series Finals. An HID number can be upgraded to a Lifetime Horse Registration (LHR) for a fee of $70. If a horse has a USDF LHR it does not need an HID number. An HID number is a one-time fee that does not need to be renewed. Lifetime Horse Registration (LHR): A horse with an LHR ($95) is eligible for Adequan /USDF Year-End Awards, and eligible to compete at Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders Championship Series Finals and Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional qualifying and championship classes, assuming requirements for the owner and rider are met. If a horse has an LHR it does not need an HID number. An LHR does not need to be renewed.
