2 NATIONALS A source of great horses by Lucas de Mello Ribeiro z photos by Rogério At the delightful city of Indaiatuba, located in the State of São Paulo, one hour driving from São Paulo city, host of the Brazilian National Arabian Horse Show. Traditionally under the patronage of Alsayed Stud from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presenting horses in halter, performances, jumping, barrel racing and working categories, with more than 600 Arabian horses in the show. This show is considered the most important Arabian horse exhibition in Latin America, bringing horses from the entire American continent to Brazil in search of the supreme title. The arena as always was beautifully decorated with Brazilian flag colors. These are accompanied by visitors from all over the world, who were delighted not only by the quality of the Brazilian Arabian horses, but also by the well-known hospitality of the people, which is not limited to caipirinhas, samba and wonderful beaches. This year the halter classes had only one Brazilian judge, Leonardo Pinheiro Machado. From US and Europe came the other 4 authorities, Bob Boggs and Joseph Polo from USA, Claudia Darius from Germany and Marianne Tengstedt from Denmark. In the junior jr. filly championship, that consists in fillies from 6 to 12 months old, the bay filly Rhadashah Arabco won four first places from the five judges and was elected the gold champion junior jr. filly. Rhadashah Arabco is owned and bred by Sylvio Barbosa Neto from Rancho Arabco. Rhadashah Arabco was sired by a two time Brazilian national champion *El Tino, owned by El Tino s group. Rhadashah s mother is the beautiful bay Yasmin HWM, a Brazilian National. Yasmin is a daughter by *Legacy of Fame in an AF Don Giovani s daughter. The silver champion was the wonderful grey filly Flora LA, owned and bred by Leandro Aguiar from Haras Cruzeiro. Flora LA is sired by the Brazilian national champion stallion *HDB SIHR IBN Massai by the Russian stallion Massai IBN Marenga. Flora LA s mother is FT Havanna El Keav, a four times Brazilian national champion mare and silver champion in Las Vegas World Cup. There are rumors that Flora LA has been shipped to Europe and should debut in the European shows in The bronze junior jr. filly was Preferida Rach, bred and owned by the renowned Rach Stud, from the Saliba brothers. Preferida is the daughter of an American stallion and now in Brazil, *Bandit SRA sired by DA Valentino and out of Bey Shadow TGS daughter, one of the most prestigious *Shallenger s sons in Brazil. Preferida s mother is Persephone Rach by the Brazilian national champion stallion Vulcano HVP. Starting the first male championship, with colts between 6 and 12 months old, the gold champion colt was Aziz MAM, an exotic grey colt sired by the Brazilian and Chilean National, *HP Ali and out of RL Alita MAM sired by El Shakhyr by the unforgettable *FA El Shawan. *HP Ali, Aziz s father, was bred and owned by the traditional Bulnes family, from Chile. *HP Ali s pedigree is well-known by the Brazilian breeders, especially by *Halux by Menes, *El Shaklan and Ruminaja Bahjat. Aziz is bred and owned by Vanessa and Michel Alberto Morelato from Haras Dona Carolina. Aziz won the championship uncontested. The silver junior jr colt was Razeer Serondella. According to many people, Razeer looks very much like his grandfather, *FA El Shawan. This colt was bred by Amorosino s Family from Haras Serondella. Haras Serondella is owned by Fábio Amorosino, president of the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association. Razeer is a son of *El Tino and out of the Brazilian and US national champion mare, Queen Ayda FWM by *FA El Shawan and out of Magnum Psyche daughter. The bronze junior jr. colt was Intense Arabco, another son of *El Tino and out of the wonderful Shavanna El Madan sired by * FA El Shawan by Marwan Al Shaqab, in a Cajun Prince HCF - TUTTO ARABI 157

3 daughter, a son of US champion *Almaden. This beautiful colt was bred by Sylvio Barbosa from Rancho Arabco. We heard Intense will be retained by Sylvio Barbosa (Rancho Arabco s owner) to be one of his stallions, perpetuating the *El Tino bloodline. Summing up, in the first two championships, the blood of DA Valentino, through his son *El Tino and Marwan Al Shaqab, through his son * FA El Shawan, were in almost all champions, dictating, right from the beginning, what would be seen throughout the show. The second female championship, named junior filly, joined fillies from 12 to 18 months of age. The gold junior filly was RFI Sawari, owned and bred by Rodrigo and Carlos Forte from Haras Santo Antonio da Bela Vista. At this moment, we call attention to the fact that Haras Santo Antonio da Bela Vista is known for being the breeder of the famous RFI Maktub and RFI Farid. RFI Sawari is a daughter of World Excalibur EA by Shanghai EA in a Marwan Al Shaqab s daughter. The RFI Sawari s mother is RFI Sophie Al Maktub, one of the most beautiful mares in Brazil, daughter of the successful Brazilian stallion, RFI Maktub. The silver junior champion filly medal went to TS Princess El Khidam. This filly was bred and owned by the traditional Haras Arco Azul from the Salloum family. TS Princess is originated from a bred between TS Khidam El Shawan by *FA El Shawan in a beautiful chestnut mare, *Afire Star by Magnum Psyche. Finally, the bronze junior filly winner was Lellah SPO. This incredible filly is a daughter of Barolo Carol a Brioni Carol s son out of a Lothar El Nyhl mother. Leelah was bred by the kind Sandra Lucia Platzeck Oliveira from Haras 7 Flores. The gold junior colt was Vivaldi Al Shawan, unanimous gold champion. Vivaldi Al Shawan by *FA El Shawan and out of the beautiful HK LA Fiesta Power, an important Brazilian mare who brings in her blood the successful 158 TUTTO ARABI -

4 stallion Power World JQ and *Princhal by Aswan. Vivaldi Al Shawan was bred in a partnership between Humberto Florezi and Cesar Augusto Schimit de Oliveira- Haras Al Hosçan and Haras Katu. The silver junior colt medal was Fuad, bred by Haras DOD and owned by Haras Imagem- Marco Tulio Dias Lopes Filho from the State of Mato Grosso do Sul/ Brazil. Fuad is sired by Mashoor Al Mohamadia an inbreeding between Marwan Al Shaqab and his daughter Abha Palma. Fuad s mother is a beautiful DOD Fiorella by Mirage LM and out of a Magnum Psyche mare.the bronze junior colt prize went to Khamal Arabco, a son of *El Tino in Shavana Al Madan by *FA El Shawan. Khamal is another champion bred and owned by Rancho Arabco. The young filly class championship brings females from 18 to 27 months of age and was one of the most difficult championships in the show, as it had animals of the highest quality. The gold young filly champion was the incredible bay Sophie ELS, bred and owned by Joaquim Caio Pereira Filho from Haras Estância Lago do Sol. Sophie had 4 first places and 1 second place and is a daughter of PA Gazsi by Gazal Al Shaqab in a Vulcano HVP s daughter. According to many people, Sophie was sold to USA during the show and because of this Sophie s future is unknown and it s a mystery if she will be in the championships of Europe or United States in The silver young filly champion was the exquisite Shakhyra Arabco, bred and owned by Rancho Arabco. Shakhyra is a granddaughter of the great *FA El Shawan throught his son, the National El Shakhyr, a stallion that Rancho Arabco is part-owner. Shakhyra s mother adds to the pedigree of this beautiful chestnut filly the bloodlines of PCF Vision, Magnum Psyche and Bey Shah. The bronze young filly was CER Fancy, sired by *SRA Bandit, a son of DA Valentino, in a Vulcano HVP daughter.cer Fancy was bred by Orpheu and Cris Ávila and owned by a new Brazilian breeder Dullis Dmare Borges C Carvalho, Haras Hayat. For the young colt championship, males from 18 to 27 months of age, the gold colt was *Preludio OSB, bred by Olivia Strauch and owned by Al Kaiser Stud, both from Uruguay. *Preludio OSB s pedigree is well-known by the Brazilian breeders, especially because of his father *Dominic M, a Brazilian National, DA Vinci FM and out of a DA Valentino s mare. Preludio s mother is Partyssima OSB by Sir Fames HBV. Sir Fames is a Brazilian stallion bred by Haras Boa Vista from Luciano Cury. This colt captivated the audience, especially for his gorgeous type and exotic head. The silver young colt was the 2016 Brazilian national gold junior jr. colt TS Prince El Khidam sired by the National TS Khidam El Shawan in the TS Tiffany by Brazilian national stallion Power World JQ out of a Don El Chall daughter. TS Prince El Khidam is bred and owned by Haras Arco Azul from the Salloum family. The bronze young colt was RFI Splendor, bred and owned by Haras Santo Antonio da Bela Vista. RFI Splendor is a son of *El Tino. Splendor s mother is the incredible RFI Sophie Al Maktub by RFI Maktub out of a *Neschnij daughter. The filly championship joined fillies from 27 to 36 months of age. The gold filly was the exquisite HDF Munique bred and owned by Rodrigo Faias from Haras das Faias. HDF Munique was the 2016 Brazilian national jr. filly and, this year, again, earned the maximum title. HDF Munique is sired by the champion maker WH Justice out of the wonderful Pure Seduction VCM by HK Keav Power out of OFW Dark Victory daughter. The silver filly was HK Sweet Festiva, bred and owned by Cesar Augusto Schmidt from Haras Katu and Humberto Florezi Filho from Haras AL Hosçan. Festiva is by El Shakhyr. The Festiva s mother adds to the pedigree of this beautiful filly the bloodlines of HK LA Fiesta Power by Power World JQ and a full sister to HK Keav Power. Keav has unfortunately died in The bronze filly was Special Dream HVP, bred and owned by Mr. Jaime Pinheiro from the renowned and prestigious Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. Special Dream HVP is a daughter of the American stallion and now in Brazil *Thee Apprenttice sired by Versace in a Legacy of Gold daughter. Special Dream HVP s mother is Tawany HVP by *FA El Shawan. The colt championship joined colts from 27 to 36 months of age. The gold champion colt was Titanium LM bred and owned by Lucio and Tércio Miranda from Haras Paiquere. Titanium is sired by *El Tino and out of Evora LM, a Power World JQ daughter in a Don El Chall daughter. The silver colt was Fire Heart HVP, bred and owned by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. Fire Heart HVP is a son of DA Vinci by Versace. Her mother is *RP Joharra, an exotic daughter of the champion maker WH Justice. The bronze colt was Luxor Sams, bred and owned by João Roberto Sorvilo from Haras Vale Formoso. Luxor is by Shanghai EA and out of the Straight Egyptian mare, Ali Mahakeshi, a granddaughter of Ruminaja Ali and El Hilal. In the young mare championship, the gold champion mare was the black Vaidosa Rach by RFI Maktub in Vanity Rach, which is a daughter of Mister Eros HX by Pavel Rach, a pure polish stallion. This mare was bred and owned by Rach Stud, a big Brazilian farm that specializes in Polish bloodlines, that has recently been opening their group to new bloods like RFI Maktub. The silver champion mare was Only Serondella, sired by US champion *AAS Elishahh, a son of Eden C, and out of a Vekton El Ludjin daughter. Only has an amazing show background. She was the Brazilian bronze champion young mare in Only Serondella has an amazing type and her bred and owner is - TUTTO ARABI 159

5 Haras Serondella from the Amorosino family. Finally, the bronze winner was Khyki HEC, a daughter of HK Keav Power. Khyki s mother is Khyara HEC by Jahd El Jamaal, who was multi champion in Brazil. Like Khyara HEC, her daughter Khyki was bred by Haras Estância California from the Carvalho family. In the young stallion championship, with males from 36 to 60 months of age, the gold champion was Menton HVP, bred and owned by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. Menton is a son of *FA El Shawan. Menton s mother is the Brazilian Reserve national champion JR Burmagny, a daughter of Burman HVP in a AB Magnum s daughter. The silver young stallion was FT Saeed sired by *El Tino out of the incredible mare, FT Sofia El Bogart by Bogart El Perseus. Sofia was Brazilian silver national filly champion years ago. Saeed was bred and owned by Flavia Ramalho Torres from Haras Quatro Estações. Flavia is the same breeder of the renowned, world champion and queen of Dubai Stud, FT Shaella. The bronze young stallion was Gran Osiris. Gran Osiris is sired by HK Keav Power in the mare *RA Nefertiti. This stallion is the result of a crossing between HK Keav Power out of *RA Nefertiti by Marwan Al Shaqab. Osiris is bred and owned by Haras Al Hosçan. In the mare championship, for many people the high point of the show, there were five Brazilian nationals champions in the arena. The gold mare was Baviera HVP. Baviera won four first places. Sired by Marwan Al Shaqab in the famous HB Bessolea, a daughter of Besson Carol. Baviera was bred by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros and owned by Sahara Arabians from USA. Second place was the exquisite black mare Lumiar Ethna. She was sired by RFI Maktub in a Lumiar Amadeus daughter, Evening Star TGS. This mare was Brazilian national champion filly and a Chilean national champion mare. Ethna was bred by Haras Lumiar from Brazil and today is owned by Haras Panquehue from Chile. The bronze mare was Tawany HVP, bred and owned by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. Tawany is a daughter of Las Vegas *FA El Shawan in a JJ Senor Magnum mare, Tasmin HVP. In the stallion championship, the gold champion was *Bandit SRA, that was the unanimous choice among the judges. *Bandit is owned by Haras Carandá from Paquito Carrasco and bred by Dan and Maureen Grossman from USA. Bandit is another son of DA Valentino and out of LL Abufera a daughter of Brazilian stallion Bey Shadow TGS by *Shallenger. The silver medal was Tales HVP a *FA El 160 TUTTO ARABI -

6 Shawan son in a Don El Chall mare, the national champion Tayra HVP. Tales is bred and owned by Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. The bronze medal winner was RT Sheik by Kayn El Fayd a Fayd El Jamaal son in a Lumiar Amadeus daughter. Sheik is bred and owned by Rancho Tokarski from the Brasilia city. Summing up the Brazilian Nationals 2017 had 8 successful stallions, *El Tino and his brother *Bandit SRA; Marwan Al Shaqab and his son *FA El Shawan; Power World JQ; RFI Maktub, HK Keav Power and El Shakhyr, all stallions that combine very well as the basis of the Brazilian breeding is formed by descendants of *Ali Jamaal, Aladdin, Bey Shah, Padron and * El Shaklan. In Brazil it is highly valued the dispute to who else punctuates as breeder and exhibitor of the National Show. This year, the largest breeder and exhibitor was Mr. Jaime Pinheiro from Haras Vila dos Pinheiros. Finally, it is worth mentioning the homage made to the world-renowned breeder Maria Helena Ribeiro Perroy (Lenita Perroy) from Haras Meia Lua.
