1 ) artwork created by ( Breeders Cup and Avare s International Two of the largest Brazilian shows by Rogério Santos z photos by Rogério Santos The touristic city of Avare, interior of Sao Paulo, hosted two of the largest Brazilian shows: Breeders Cup and International of Arabian Horse. For the two events the judges were, from Europe: Gerard Kurt and Richard Pihistrom; from the USA: Joe Polo and John Rann and from Brazil Eduardo Caio. Breeders Cup took place on September 10th. Since its start, in 1996, 14 years ago, the judging system remains the same. The breeders are allowed to enter 4 horses, no older then 36 months, of both gender and of his own breeding program. Judges will grade them from 0 to 20 for Type, Head/Neck, Body, Legs, and Movement/Presence. The higher and the smallest score are discarded. There is no judging for championship. The score from three horses from each breeder are totaled and the horse with the lowest grade is eliminated. The winners of the Breeders Cup is the breeder that when adding the score of his horses has the highest. The ten horses with the highest scores are awarded the title of Breeders Cup Top Ten, and the horse with the highest score will receive the Premium Cup.

Abel and his family are involved with Arabian Horse for 23 years, and based his exhibition totally on the sire *FA El Shawan (by Marwan Al Saquab). Three of FA El Sawan s offspring received the best scores: the Filly Festywa ALSA (x Festyna SA by Nuzyr HCF) came in second with 277.5; the Jr Colt Mahadin AL (x Nuzyrma Dinn SA by Nuzyr HVF) and the Junior Filly BF Jully El Shawan AL (x Ana Juliana Rach by *Juliano) both received the score of 271. The Premium Cup with the score of 278 out of a possible 300 was the Filly FT Havanna EL Keav, bred by Flavia Torres of Haras Quatro Estacoes, the same breeder of the marvelous FT Shaella of Dubai Stud. 5 17 t h Internati Arabian With its traditional way of judging, by comparing, the International of Arabian Horse took place September 11th and 12th. The judges were the same as in the Breeders Cup. Joe Polo and John Rannemberg from the USA. From Europe Gerard Kurt and Richard Pihistron, and from Brazil Eduardo Caio. They were in charge of scoring 147 horses in halter and performance. The Champion Stallion was the son of WH Justice, Magic Shadeedeh, recently imported from Italy by a group of breeders: Haras Meia Lua, Lenita Perroy; Haras El Madan of Pedro Amaral and Quatro Estacoes of Flavia Torres. He scored four first place and one second given by Eduardo Caio. As for the Reserve, Gypsy King HC the score was four second and one first place. Gypsy King HC is the son of Van Harley (by Ryad El Jamaal) in Gypsy Dhar HC (by Dartanhan HBR) and was bred at Haras Camboriu of Mario Miranda, the same breeder of Mistic Dream HC, Italian National Champion in The National Champion Filly of 2008 FT Majeeda El Yllan was awarded Champion Mare of Avare s International with 4 first place and one second (Pihistron). She is the daughter of Yllan El Jamaal in Moonson Bey by Bey Shah and was bred at Haras Quatro Estacoes of Flavia Torres. 190 TUTTO ARABI

7 OWS AND EVENTS The Judges The Reserve was Myska JM (Don El Chall in Nyska HCF by Aza Destiny) bred at Haras JM of Jose and Maisa Alves, with one first place, Pihistron, two second, Kurt and Rannemberg and two third by Polo and Caio. The only cathegory to have an unanimous decision in the show was the Champion Colt, with Jazeer De Wiec as its winner, he is the son of the polish Debowiec, Brazilian National Champion in 2007 and today a sire at Dubai Stud. The dam of Jazeer De Wiec is Josephine El Jamaal (by Ali Jamaal). The Reserve Champion Colt, with 4 second place and one third (Polo) was Vaillant Rach son of Mister Eros HX in Violla Rach by Eksport. Vaillant was bred at Rach Stud of the brothers Ricardo and Paulo Saliba one of the greatest breeders of Polish bloodline in the Americas. The very competitive Champion Filly had as the winner Stig Cicarelli (Salieri K x Ventura HCF by Don Giovanni) with two first place, Pihistron and Kurt, and three second. She is from the breeding program of Haras Stigmatas of Carlos Menezes and was among Breeders Cup Top Ten. 192 TUTTO ARABI

11 OWS AND EVENTS The Reserve was the imported Umbridled Love (Magnum Chall HVP x GR Katalina) bred by the American Peter Kessler and now owned by Jose Eduardo Barbosa of Haras Lua Nova. The Champion Junior Colt was Gabriel BFA (Eden C x Angel Ize BFA) imported from the USA, bred by Patty Feola, belonging to a syndicate formed by Haras Namahe, Haras dos Faveiros, Haras Vila dos Pinheiros, Haras Boa Vista and Haras Bahamas. He scored four first place and one third (Pihistron). His Reserve was Yllan El Jamaal (Yllad El Jamaal x Dora Van Ryad by Ryad El Jamaal) bred at Haras Vanguarda of Fabio Diniz. The Champion Junior Filly was Simca (Nesj El Khibo x Henrylla EB by Yllan El Jamaal) with three first place and two second (Caio and Pihistron). Simca was bred at Haras Paineiras of Rodrigo de Castro. The Reserve, TS Maya (Power World JQ x Perfect Chall HBV by Don El Chall) was bred at Haras Arco Azul of Toni Salloum, the same breeder of the Italian National Champion in 2008, TS Apolo.
