2 What s on October half-term Festival of Light Inspired by Diwali In the Autumn of 2018, Robin Hill s popular electric woods event, Festival of Light inspired by Diwali, is back celebrating India s independence with stunning, creatively themed light, colour, sound and entertainment that captures the many aspects of Indian culture. The Festival of Light will take place at Robin Hill just outside of Newport on the Isle of Wight. Every evening from 6pm 10pm, visitors can experience the vibrant colours, flavours and magic of the Asian sub-continent set in Robin Hill s glorious autumnal ancient woodland as they venture on a journey of discovery of India. Spooky Castle Feeling brave enough to take on the island s haunted castle? Prepare to be scared on a spooky Halloween adventure for families and kids. Create your own terrifying Halloween crafts. Wander the grounds with the Victorian ghost hunters as they tell you macabre tales of times gone by. Don t forget to pass by the graveyard and discover how its occupants met a gruesome demise. A prize awaits in the Halloween costume competition, bestowed for the most spine-tingling attire each day. Tree and Hedgerow ID Trail Make the most of your visit to Bembridge Windmill and follow the discovery boards to learn about the trees and hedgerows that grow in the lanes and fields around the windmill. The windmill is open from 10:30am-5pm. Wizard Week at Isle of Wight Steam Railway In a puff of steam it s Wickedly Wonderful Halloween Fun during October half term holiday. See the owls and birds of prey, be amazed at the magic shows, enjoy relaxing steam train rides, and tread cautiously through the enchanting woodland walk. Meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet and help them with their magic spells and potions. Dress-up as wizards, witches and other spooky characters there are prizes each day for the best costumes and enter the Halloween Treasure Hunt!

Ventnor Botanic Gardens Ventnor Botanic Garden lies in the remarkable micro-climate at the heart of the famous Undercliff. With an average rainfall of 28 inches its climate is more akin to the Mediterranean. This enables a wide variety of plants considered too tender for much of mainland Britain to be grown. Throughout October half-term Ventnor Botanic Gardens will be running a number of activities and providing trails to keep kids busy.

The Big Draw 2018 PLAY! 27th October Quay Arts Come and take part in this year s national event and help make an animation on the theme of PLAY, which will be submitted to the Big Draw competition. Donkey Halloween 24th October Head to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary for a day of trick or treating, costume competitions and more! The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is based between Shanklin and Ventnor on the road to Wroxall and open all year round from 10:00am till 4:30pm. Everyone is welcome to come and visit the lovely donkeys.
