2 ALL judging is as per the FIG Code of Points Cycle 14 unless specific rules apply. Each level progressively develops techniques and themes that will underpin high level performance. The gymnast should develop routines by learning elements following these progressive themes. Technique is common throughout the National Talent Pathway. The National Elite Grades are a significant challenge to even the most talented gymnasts. It is essential that coaches understand the technical pathways for developing skills, in order to make the good choices for the gymnasts development. The desire is to put the ARTISTRY back into our sports title, Men s Artistic Gymnastics, with a routine at each level for Artistic Preparation. The National Elite Grades remain as the principle route for selection into the Elite Performance Squad. The Club Grades have been upgraded and are more challenging for and include APP to promote artistry and performance confidence MAG Club Grades January 2018

23 POMMEL HORSE Pommel Horse Please note these are signposts of some available deductions Element C of P Consideration All Performance Considerations Deviation from performance considerations stated are technical deductions: 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 All Touching apparatus 0.1 Hitting apparatus 0.5 Circle elements Skewing deductions, taken for each circle: >15-30 = 0.1, >30-45 = 0.3, >45 = 0.5 Circle elements Single leg elements Shoulders moving from start direction on mushroom: >15-30 = 0.1, >30-45 = 0.3, >45 = 0.5 Big emphasis of cycle - too often a lack of deduction means that those performed excellently are not rewarded. Remember that the FIG exercise expectation is: during scissors and single leg swings, the gymnast must demonstrate a significant elevation of his hips and a large separation of the legs. Lack of amplitude commonly seen but often not deducted, with a small or medium deduction possible. Reward the better by deducting those poorly performed 0.1, 0.3 Touching or hitting the apparatus 0.1, MAG Club Grades January 2018
