4 Rachel Homan Date of Birth : April 28th, 1989 Age : 28 Height : 5 6 Home Province : Ontario Rachel Homan is the skipper, the captain, of her curling team. Her team includes Emma Miskew, Joanne Courtney, and Lisa Weagle. Emma Miskew and Rachel Homan have been teammates since the age of 11. She led her team to the gold medal at the 2017 World s Curling Championship. It was her third appearance in the World s Curling Championship where she won a bronze and silver medal. She started curling at the age of 5 and started to compete in competitions at the age of 12. She participated in the Canada Winter games in 2007 where she won a gold medal.
5 Justine Dufour-Lapointe Date of Birth : April 28th, 1989 Age : 28 Height : 5 6 Home Province : Ontario Justine Dufour-Lapointe is the youngest of the three Dufour-Lapointe sisters (Maxime and Chloe). Justine s first Winter Olympic Games was in Sochi The sisters became the 3rd set of sisters to participate in the same individual event at the Olympic Games. She won a gold medal in freestyle skiing (moguls) and her sister, Chloe, won the silver. Chloe and Justine, with their gold and silver win, became the 3rd set of sisters to win both 1st and 2nd place in the Winter Olympic Games. She started skiing at the age of 8. Her parents gave her cookies to ski with her sisters. Justine always wears unicorn socks when she is competing. She has won two bronzes, a silver and a gold medal for freestyle skiing (moguls) in the FIS World Championships
6 Max Parrot Date of Birth : June 6th, 1994 Age : 23 Height : 5 9 Home Province : Quebec Max Parrot is from the region of Bromont, Quebec. He is the son of Alain Parrot, alpine skier and water ski jump champion. At the age of 10, Max Parrot changed from skiing to snowboarding. At the age of 16, he won 3rd place at the St-Sauveur Shakedown and it is at this moment he became a professional snowboarder. In 2014, Max participated in the Winter Olympic Games for snowboarding (slopestyle) and won 5th overall. He won a silver medal in 2015 at the X Games in Aspen. In 2016 and 2017, he won back-to-back gold medals at the X Games in Norway. He landed the first ever switch quadruple underflip in big air competition.
7 Alex Harvey Date of Birth : September 7th, 1988 Age : 29 Height : 6 0 Home Province : Quebec Alex Harvey was introduced to cross-country skiing at the age of 3. His father is the legendary cross-country skier Pierre Harvey (4- time Olympian for cross-country and cycling). Alex Harvey participated in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. In 2011, Alex Harvey and his teammate Devon Kershaw won a gold medal for team sprint at the World Championships. They became the first Canadian men who would to ever reach the podium for cross-country skiing. In 2013, he became the first Canadian man to win an individual medal with his bronze medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
8 Kailie Humphries Date of Birth : September 4th, 1985 Age : 32 Height : 5 6 Home Province : Alberta Kailie Humphries is from Calgary, Alberta. She has participated in two Winter Olympic games (Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014) in bobsleigh. In the Vancouver 2010, Kailie and her teammate, Heather Moyse, won a gold medal. They became the first Canadian bobsleigh team to ever win gold. In Sochi 2014, they won a gold medal by winning by.10 of a second. Kailie and Heather were named the flag bearers for the Sochi closing ceremonies. Kailie Humphries was named the 2014 winner of the Lou Marsh award as Canadian athlete of the year.
9 Charles Hamelin Date of Birth : April 14th, 1984 Age : 33 Height : 5 7 Home Province : Quebec Charles Hamelin is from Ste-Julie, Quebec. Charles Hamelin first sport was baseball but got into speed skating at the age of 9 after seeing it and thinking it looked cool. His little brother, Francois Hamelin, will also be participating in the PyeongChang Winter games. He is participating in his 4th Olympic Games. His first Olympic Games were Turin He has won 4 Olympic medals, three gold medals and one silver. He is the most decorated, has the most medals, male Winter Olympian for Team Canada. In the season, he won 32 championship titles including 9 gold medals.
10 Marie-Philip Poulin Date of Birth : March 28th, 1991 Age : 27 Height : 5 5 Home Province : Quebec Marie-Philip Poulin is from Beauceville, Quebec. She joined the national team program in 2007 and has been on the team ever since. She has been in three Olympic Winter Games : Vancouver, Sotchi, and PyeongChang. She was only 18 years old during the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 where she scored the two goals in the gold medal match against the USA. In Sotchi, she was Canada s leading scorer with three goals and two assists. One of these goals led to the team tying the game in the last minute of the Gold Medal game against USA and would again score the winning goal to give Canada their 4th straight Olympic Gold medal. She was nominated captain of the women s hockey team for the national team in PyeongChang.
11 Marianne St-Gelais Date of Birth : February 17th, 1990 Age : 28 Height : 5 3 Home Province : Quebec Marianne St-Gelais is one of the best 500m short track speed skaters in the world and was ranked 1st in the season in the 500 metres. In 2009, she started skating in the senior competitions for Team Canada after a successful junior career and winning a gold medal in the the 2009 Junior World Championships. She participated in the Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Games and will be going to her third Olympics in PyeongChang. In Vancouver, she won two silver medals in the 500 m and the 1000m. In Sotchi, she would win another silver medal as part of the 3000m relay team.
12 Mark McMorris Date of Birth :December 9th, 1993 Age : 25 Height : 5 9 Home Province : Saskatchewan Mark McMorris is a snowboarder from Regina, Saskatchewan. He is always looking to improve snowboarding and in 2011 he did just that by being the first snowboarder to land a backside triple cork He was part of Team Canada in the Sochi Games in Two weeks before Sotchi, McMorris would break his ribs in the X Games in Aspen. He snowboarded through pain and would go on and win an Olympic bronze medal. In March 2017, McMorris would suffer a horrific accident while snowboarding in the mountains. He fractured his jaw, left arm, pelvis, ribs, ruptured spleen and collapsed lung; however, this will not stop McMorris for going to his second Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
13 Alex Gough Date of Birth : May 12th, 1987 Age : 31 Height : 5 6 Home Province : Quebec Alex Gough is a veteran member of Canada s luge team and was part of the national team in both the Vancouver and Sochi Olympic Games. She competes in singles and in the team relay. In 2011, she became the first canadian luger to win a gold medal at the World Cup Race breaking a 105-race streak held by the Germans. She is currently ranked in the top 5 female lugers in the world. In 2014, she finished 4th in the singles event which is the best any Canadian Luger has done before. She would participate in the relay team event where the Canadian team would place 4th. She is working on improving the sport and making Canada one of the best in luge.
14 Mikael Kingsbury Date of Birth : July 24th, 1992 Age : 25 Height : 5 7 Home Province : Quebec Mikael Kingsbury is a freestyle mogul skier for team Canada. In 2010 at the Vancouver Olympics, Mikael witnessed Alexandre Bilodeau win a gold medal. After the games, Mikael was inspired and competed in the FIS World Cup 2010 where he won Rookie of the Year. The following season, he went on to win 13 World Cup medals (8 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze) and won the Crystal Globe as the overall World Cup champion. He was just under 20 years old making him the youngest to win the Crystal Globe. In 2014, Mikael Kingsbury competed in the Sochi Olympic Games where he won a silver medal behind Alexandre Bilodeau.
15 Tessa Virtue Date of Birth : May 17th, 1989 Age : 29 Height : 5 4 Home Province : Ontario Tessa Virtue and her partner, Scott Moir, have been competing together since they were little children in Ontario. Tessa and Scott would make their Olympic debut in 2010 at the Vancouver Winter Games. At the Vancouver Games, Scott and Tessa went on to win a gold medal making them the youngest ice dancing partners to win a gold medal. Tessa was 20 years old at the time. Tessa competed with a leg injury which made walking very painful. In the fall of 2010, she had surgery on her leg to relieve some pain. Scott and Tessa competed again in Sochi, in 2014, where they won two silver medals (team and ice dancing). In 2016, they moved their training base to Montreal under their new coaches Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon.
