Leahy, City Manager pcv Alexandra Sheeks, Assistant to the City Manager-kS Discussion of 2012 Summer Concerts Date: 2/07/2012 ISSUE: Shall the City Council review changes in the 2012 Summer Concert series? RECOMMENDATION: To provide comments regarding this matter. BACKGROLINDIDISCUSSION: In late 2011, the City Council agreed to explore various options to reformat the City's Summer Concerts to increase participation, including holding the concerts at a different time, date and venue. Also in 2011, the City Council approved a recommendation from the Economic Development Committee to allow a Summer 2012 Festival at Wilmot Gateway Park and the Woodinville Sports Fields centered on Woodinville attractions, particularly agritourism. A committee to plan the festival has been formed under the leadership of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce and has held several meetings. Due to the lead time needed to plan a successful new Summer Festival event, the committee does not feel it is reasonably possible to conduct a stand alone Summer Festival in The Chamber Festival Committee has requested that this year's Festival efforts be combined with a reformatted Summer Concerts Program with evening events centered at Wilmot Park. The Committee intends to undertake a larger festival event in Summer Staff will present the details about these options at the Council meeting. ALTERNATIVES 1. To review and provide direction to staff regarding future summer concerts and events. 2. To request further information from staff. 3. To take no action. RECOMMENDED MOTION: For Discussion Only.
