It will now be replaced by a trip to BOLTON WANDERERS instead. Details are as follows : Bolton Wanderers Academy Day. Saturday 21 st April 2007 What is included? 2 Bolton Wanderers Trip (continued) As discussed in previous Newsletters, this TRIP is solely for 1998 Improvers Groups (Navy & White). If I cannot fill the trip, then I will be forced to offer it to some of the other age groups who I know will fill it. I need to know by NEXT WEEKEND by the latest. Names and numbers to THERESA please. (AS SOON AS POSSIBLE). Manchester Cup According to my records from Theresa, EVERYONE in the 1998 School of Excellence and 1998 Academy PLUS Groups are going to this tournament EXCEPT Paul Chalmers, Calum Mc Donald and Aiden Mc Elhinney. Please advise Theresa if this is incorrect. Money has to be paid this weekend please so I need your deposits IN..URGENTLY.or I will be struggling. Mini Tournament Can I take this opportunity of thanking the below mentioned teams who gave us a wonderful festival of football last weekend. It was truly amazing. Close games, good goals, and no hammerings. I would also like to thank all the parents who helped out and particular thanks once again to Mr Eddie Gibson for organising the tournament. Calum joins the convoy Calum Whyte has been given the opportunity to join the convoy of Scotland Boys Club Academy of Football 1999 s, who joined Hearts for one year last Thursday. There was one vacancy left and I felt that Calum deserved the chance to savour the additional coaching that the Academy offers. It will certainly not do him or any of the others any harm. We wish him well. Ralston diverts to Stepford Road Anthony Ralston has went from strength to strength in the last few months. The newly promoted 1998 School of Excellence youngster has been moved from the Hearts FC (Uddingston Academy) on a Friday night to the very successful Hearts FC (Stepford Road Academy) which operates on a Thursday night. Can I take this opportunity of apologising for the misunderstanding which took place last week when Anthony was moved back to the Academy PLUS. This has now been resolved.

3 Facilities One of the difficulties we are having is the TRAINING FACILITIES on a Friday night. Basically, they are NOT SUFFICIENT and too small. This is going to be rectified by EASTER I have applied for new lets and will be detailing these over the next few weeks. So many parents are now approaching me with regards to the Friday Night drop in centre, that we going to have to open the Academy and offer every student TWO TRAINING SESSIONS per week. Only ONE is mandatory and that will be the normal training night / morning for the student and the other is at your discretion (you can attend these additional sessions every week, or every alternative week or whatever). Full details of these double sessions will be in future Newsletters. Please note (and this is important) YOU CANNOT SEND YOUR YOUNGSTER TO THE DROP IN CENTRE ONLY he/she MUST attend their session with their own squad (unless this has been agreed with me and this will only be granted in exceptional circumstances). It is priority that first and foremost, they must train with their own squad. Watch this space for details of when these double sessions begin. First Aid Equipment Can I take this opportunity of thanking everyone who has handed in FIRST AID equipment. But we need lots, and lots more. Keep it coming it will not go to waste. Ball & Four Ball Lottery The BONUS BALL competition (ROLLOVER) was won last week by BRIAN ADAMS. Well done to him. The FOUR BALL lottery was not won and the prize money for this week will be topped up slightly and is currently standing at We got another TWO contributors last week WELL DONE and THANKS. But we could really do with a few more PLEASE..particularly from the 2000 Age Group. My thanks to Lorraine Mac Donald for another Lottery idea which we will be looking at after Easter. MOSSEND BOYS CLUB Festival of Football (1999) Mossend Boys Club have invited Scotland Boys Club Academy of Football into their EASTER TOURNAMENT. I will be entering the 1999 School of Excellence into this tournament, so please keep the Easter Weekend FREE if you are in that particular squad. Quality Mark is a new Scottish FA "Youth Action Plan" initiative which helps to support and sustain grass roots football. Via Quality Mark, the Scottish FA and partners will promote the role of clubs and schools to broaden community participation and to enhance player, coach and volunteer development and best practice. Scotland Boys Club Academy of Football and going to apply to attain the Scottish FA Quality Mark Award over the next few months. Any volunteer who has a bit of time and is interested in helping the Academy to attain this accreditation please talk to me. You must possess excellent administrative qualities and computer skills (Excel, Word, Access etc).

I received complaints from Moorlands Boys Club and a few parents regarding the above squad fixture at the weekend. Firstly I was informed that we turned up FIVE MINUTES before the kick off, and secondly the students did not even have time for a warm up. It is absolutely imperative that Coaches, Players and Officials turn up at least thirty minutes before kick off to ensure that students get a proper warm up. I have had explanations from the coaches from last weekend but we really have to put a greater effort into the organisation of getting to games / training etc. Can coaches try and be at training fifteen minutes before start time so that we can set out equipment etc. Before and after games at Richmond Park, we need parents (not just the same ones) to assist with putting up and taking down the goals. And again, please be down early for home games for this purpose. I am asking 1998 School of Excellence and Academy PLUS parents to rush around on Saturday mornings to try and help out these fairly weak squads, so I can only ask that other parents make a bigger effort to get to training and matches on time. Thanks for that.

Anyone who does NOT have their training kit by the end of FEBRUARY will no longer be permitted to participate in Club activities until they attain the kit. We have to get continuity and consistency and therefore have to inflict this strict rule. Anyone that has financial hardship come and talk to me and we will try and come to some sort of terms and conditions. ie an interest free loan or something. This is also the last call for coaches to attain the kit. Once again if you are having problems with this, you can order the tracksuit separate, then perhaps a few weeks later the sweat top etc. We MUST get the entire Academy IDENTICAL (including coaches) by March. 7 1999 School of Excellence, PLUS Navy and White Milton Rovers provided the opposition in a cold Saturday morning at Richmond Park. The 1999 School of Excellence won convincingly and the 1999 Academy PLUS got themselves a win and a 1-0 defeat School of Excellence and Academy PLUS The 1998 School of Excellence beat Blantyre Boys Club by a formidable margin on Saturday at Richmond Park whilst the Academy PLUS won one and got themselves a draw. The draw was a tense match which could have went either way at the end up Navy and White select Moorlands Boys Club were the opposition at St John s on Saturday. Although Moorlands won fairly convincingly in the end, the two Improvers squads put up a fine show assisted by a few of the 1998 School of Excellence and Academy PLUS students. Photographs My thanks to Club Official Photographer Scott Holland who spent most of his Sunday afternoon at our little tournament snapping away quite the thing. Scott is going to be taking pictures of every student over the next few months and we will be framing these photographs for sale at this year s annual presentation dance. Which brings me to : My next request we need somewhere to hold the Annual Awards Ceremony this year. Looking for a classy place who will allow kids in until Midnight. It must be a Saturday, and will be held last weekend in May or the first week in June. Anyone who knows a place, please feel free to enquire and get me availibility. We are prepared to pay very little (preferably NOTHING) as the venue in question is likely to make a small fortune from the four hundred people who are likely to attend and be filling themselves with all sorts of booze and that s only the kids.!!! Let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But do your homework first and make enquiries. Must be able to hold 400 people!!! Tickets are going on sale in March..watch this space. Volunteers to run our next CAR BOOT SALE. I need two or three volunteers to run the next SBC Car Boot Sale. I have got quite a bit of stuff collected now and it needs to go!!!
