1 2014 International Edition - December 2014 ITALY FUCHS brand and Niccolò Canepa cheered by the crowd POLAND EICMA, the world s largest motorcycle exhibition, took place in Milan in November, and welcomed 628,600 visitors, 14.7% more than in ,053 exhibitors from 34 countries, 14 international competitions and 600 riders were represented at this two-wheel event. The FUCHS Group had its own stand dedicated to FUCHS Silkolene products, with special guests, Niccolò Canepa and his Aprilia. This famous and popular rider won 2nd place in the EVO category of the 2014 FIM World Superbike Championship and his fans were queuing up to see him at this international exhibition. Maciej Stanco and Artur Kołodziej on the road to success After a difficult beginning to the season in a new category for off-road rallies, the FUCHS Star Moto team, composed of two famous drivers in Maciej Stanco and Artur Kołodziej, found their feet and propelled themselves into 2nd place overall in the Polish Rally Championship. Photographer : Andrea Bardi ITALY A new challenge for Nicolas Vicentin Photo : Apher Andrea De Felici Fresh off his 2nd place finish in the Under-21 Italian Championship and 3rd in the Individual Italian Open Championship, Nicolas Vicentin will be embarking on a new challenge in Argentina. The vice-champion will spend the winter in South America with four other European riders to improve his performance for the next season of the International Championship Speedway Individual Open, scheduled to take place in Argentina.

2 THE NETHERLANDS A magnificent title in the 2014 OW Supercup 1000 for Arjan van Hooren Racing team Oldebroek s Arjan van Hooren went into the final races of the OW Supercup 1000, 17 points ahead of his main rival, while his teammate Niels Fijn had his eyes on a top-10 finish at the end of the season. The race took place on the prestigious Assen track, and van Hooren had to use all his know-how of leading the pack and be ready for anything in order to win the last two rounds of the eleven-round 2014 season. In the first race, van Hooren was able to move into 4th place as soon as the green light came on. For his part, Fijn had a great start and jumped into 6th position. The Race Director briefly stopped the race with the red flag three laps from the finish. After the stoppage, Fijn moved into a great 5th place after a sprint race and van Hooren took 2nd place and a podium finish. Both riders started the second race in a good position, but it didn t last as Fijn was unfortunate to collide with another rider in the last lap, scoring no points in this race. However, he finished on a great 9th position in the overall championship standings. After a lot of suspense and some epic duels, van Hooren was able to pass the chequered flag in 3rd position, ahead of 65 other riders a fine performance and enough for van Hooren to win the 2014 OW Supercup 1000 with three points to spare. 3 AUSTRALIA John Warrian, loyal to the FUCHS Silkolene brand John Warrian, a famous rider in the motorcycle world, collected numerous podiums, trophies and victories and won the Australian Unlimited Grand Prix during a career spanning from 1964 to A perennial challenger, Warrian rode many motorcycle brands (Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Bultaco and Yamaha) and faced all kinds of technical problems during his career. That s why he knows motorcycles like the back of his hand. His experience and professionalism acquired on the most prestigious circuits in Oceania were the foundations on which he established his business. SOUTH AFRICA Success for Isaacs in the 2014 SuperGP Champions Trophy At the end of the qualifying laps and the warm up, Lance Isaacs had claimed 3rd place on the starting grid. With 25 points up for grabs and a 24-point gap to bridge between me and the championship leader Clint Seller, I had to go all-out; it was the only option, explained the rider with a gleam of confidence in his eyes. In spite of the fact that Isaacs clipped Brand s rear wheel on race 1 and lost a lot of time at the beginning of race 2, he managed to reach 3rd place overall in the 2014 SuperGP Champions Trophy on his BMW S1000RR. We have accomplished a lot during the year. At the start of the season, most people thought we wouldn't even make it to the podium once. We proved all the critics wrong and won 13 podiums! To begin with, the Queensland-based rider ran his own motorcycle retail shop, but a chance meeting on the Bathurst circuit changed the course of his life. When you ask him how he got into industry, he replies: it was through Harry Bartrop, who used to open and close the track at Bathurst riding a BSA sidecar with the siren blaring away. The sidecar had NSW on the registration plate. Harry offered me a job selling the new BSA Rocket 3s from the floor at Bennett & Wood in Sydney and I jumped at the chance. Now, he is the director and owner of a motorcycle company in the import and wholesale business and his current ambition is: to continue to market good quality products to the dealer network and provide great service. He has been distributing FUCHS Silkolene products in Australia for 30 years from his home of the Gold Coast in Queensland.

4 FRANCE Sport and Business A real institution in the automotive world since 1965, the Barbier Group is one of the largest dealers in the Poitou- Charentes region, selling brands such as Opel, Kia, Hyundai and Seat. The Barbier Group employs more than 120 people in its seven subsidiaries and has been passed down from father to son. It is currently managed by Loic Barbier, a motorsport aficionado, who has been racing for a number of years in such prestigious rallies as the Rallye d Automne with his brother Laurent. For the second year, he has organised a long-distance karting race for his customers and partners, with 66 drivers participating in this endurance competition on the Speed Fun Karting track in Niort Bessines. For two hours, these amateur drivers garage managers, mechanics, novice painters and distributors staff gave everything with the goal of passing the chequered flag in 1st place. The awards ceremony, organized by Aftersales Manager Bernard Delaloy, took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and left the 66 competitors looking forward to the third edition. All the karts were prepared with meticulous care and attention by the mechanics of the Barbier Group, using TITAN Supersyn SAE 10W-40 lubricant. All seven Barbier Group subsidiaries have been using and selling FUCHS products for 12 years.

5 POLAND FUCHS Star Moto team 2nd in the Polish Rally Championship Driving their Chevrolet S10, Maciej Stanco and Artur Kołodziej won the final round of the 2014 Polish Rally Championship in Baja Żagań, climbing to 2nd place overall in the season s standings. It was a difficult year for the team s drivers; the switch from category T2 to category T1 was no easy feat. At the beginning we had to eliminate bad habits from T2, which is a very demanding category and does not forgive any mistakes. If you want to finish the race you have to be very cautious and analyse every hole in the road, explained Maciej Stanco. In T1, faster is better, within rea- sonable limits of course, but the limit is hard to find. It takes lots of time and a lot of kilometres to gain the necessary experience. A brand-new Chevrolet S10 was built from scratch by the FUCHS Star Moto team. In spite of their lack of experience in off-road vehicle construction, the team created a car, that was 100% approved by FIA which, excluding some inevitable failures, won five races in international rallies. We had some doubtful moments during the season, but it was very successful. 2nd place in the Polish Rally Championship in the fastest category in off-road rallies is very promising and we re already looking forward to the next season, added Artur Kołodziej. We are very motivated to work on our vehicle and to develop our crew s skills for the 2015 season.

6 SINGAPORE Grassroots Gymkhana and Autotest: fantastic family fun FUCHS LUBRICANTS PTE. LTD. took part in a Grassroots Gymkhana and Autotest event held by LifeStyle MotorSports in Singapore. This race tests drivers on their timing, memory and speed. Two opponents go head to head on mirrored tracks, with the fastest winning the race. The drivers have to manoeuvre through a predetermined track using a range of driving techniques to overcome various technical obstacles. Gymkhana is more demanding than traditional autocross events, as drivers are required to perform 180-degree or 360-degree spins, figure 8s and other advanced manoeuvres. Drifting techniques are also encouraged wherever they help the driver win a few hundredths of a second or make it round a corner. This testing course not only allows the drivers to practice their usual autocross and Gymkhana skills, but also helps them to acquire higher-speed handling skills and better understanding of their car s behaviour. FUCHS LUBRICANTS PTE. LTD. had two drivers taking part in this event; Chase Lin in a Suzuki Swift Sports and Jereme Chee in a Subaru Legacy 2.5T. Both were high in the standings in the early morning runs, but sadly heavy downpours in the midafternoon suspended the race, which had to be postponed until to the next round in March We have chosen to work with these two drivers because we want motorsports enthusiasts in Singapore to know that motorsport veterans recognise the FUCHS brand as an indicator of quality products that they believe in and rely on. As for newcomers to motorsports, we scout for young passionate talents, which is why we have signed a partnership with Jereme Chee, explained Shawn Tan from FUCHS LUBRICANTS PTE. LTD. This event not only involved race enthusiasts, it catered to kids and families too. An enlarged photo of HerrBert, the FUCHS workman squeezy toy, was there to keep the kids and family members entertained. A lot of photo ops with HerrBert, as well as games and contests, made this event a great day out for participants and kids alike, added Shawn Tan. Swift Sports driver Chase Lin is a local motorsports veteran, who works as an advanced driving instructor at weekends. He is keen to educate people on the products he uses and to share his knowledge about cars. Subaru Legacy driver Jereme Chee is a promising newcomer who has secured a number of podium finishes in the most recent two rounds. Chee tunes and sets up his car personally for all races. His car is considered to be elephant-sized as it is longer than normal sedan cars; as such, simply manoeuvring takes some skill, let alone finishing on the podium. Photos Credit to D Iony Sus Yeo
