2 THE LAST TIME THE TWO TEAMS MET... The Friars and Hoyas last met on March 1, 2015 at Alumni Hall. Providence claimed an victory on that day, as Tori Rule 15 tallied a game-high 27 points on shooting. The Friars 15-point win marked the largest margin of victory during the season. Katie McCormick came off the bench to score 19 points for the Hoyas. CLARA CHE EMERGES AS OFFENSIVE THREAT... Freshman guard Clara Che came off the bench to lead the Friars in scoring in two of the team s three games last week. Overall, she averaged a team-best 10.0 points per game on shooting from the field (.526), including a 6-12 performance from beyond the three-point arc (.500). Che started the week with seven points vs. No. 23 Seton Hall on 3-3 shooting, but exited the game after just 11 minutes with a nose bleed. Che followed with a career-high 15 points against St. John s, and then led the team in scoring for the second-straight game with eight points at Villanova. For the year, Che has appeared in all 13 games and ranks fourth among her teammates in scoring (5.6 ppg). EVI IISKOLA STARTS 100th GAME FOR THE FRIARS... Senior Evi Iiskola played her 100th game in a Friar uniform on Tuesday, Dec. 29 against BIG EAST foe Seton Hall. In the Friars very next game on Thursday, Dec. 31, Iiskola made her 100th appearance in the starting line-up. To date, Iiskola has played 102 games and averaged 32.1 minutes per game. She has tallied 710 points, 363 rebounds, 162 assists and 56 steals as a Friar. Iiskola joined the program as fourth-year Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl s first recruit. SHARING THE ROCK... Sarah Beal has dished a season-high six assists in three games this year, including the Friars BIG EAST opener vs. Seton Hall on Dec. 29. For the season, Beal has handed out a team best 39 assists (3.0 apg). In 56 career games, she has dished 240 dimes (4.3 apg). Additionally, she has recorded 5+ assists in 24 career games, including three during the campaign. FRIARS NEED A TEAM EFFORT ON OFFENSE... The Friars are 4-1 this season when three-or-more players reach double figures in the scoring column during a game. Conversely, Providence is 0-8 on the year when two-or-fewer players reach double figures. NOGIC RANKS SIXTH IN THE NATION IN THREE-POINT FIELD-GOAL PERCENTAGE... Jovana Yoyo Nogic ranks second in the BIG EAST Conference and sixth in the nation among NCAA Division I players in threepoint field-goal percentage (.500, 32-64). Nogic also ranks second in the nation among freshmen in three-point percentage. MORE FROM DEEP... Jovana Yoyo Nogic is tied for third in the BIG EAST Conference in three-point field goals made per game (2.5). Butler s Blaire Langlois leads the league with 2.8 per game, followed by Creighton s Audrey Faber (2.6). BLOCK PARTY... Freshman Erica Meyer leads the Friars in blocked shots this season, with 19, and has swatted at least one shot in nine of the Friars 13 games. Meyer currently ranks fifth in the BIG EAST Conference in blocks per game (1.5 bpg). Meyer recorded a season-best four blocked shots vs. Richmond (Dec. 5), and recorded multiple blocked shots in a game six times. ROOKIE IMPACT... A freshman has led the Friars in scoring this season during six of the team s 13 games, including each of the last four contests. Of those six games, Jovana Yoyo Nogic has led the team in scoring four times, while Clara Che has led the squad during each of the last two games. THREE-POINT FIELD GOAL PER- CENTAGE OFFENSE... While defending the three well this season, Providence has put up impressive numbers from beyond the arc on the offensive end of the floor. The Friars currently rank second in the BIG EAST in three-point field goal percentage (.374, ). However, Providence has put up the second-fewest attempts from long range, topping only St. John s (140). DePaul leads the league in threepoint attempts, with 405. SARAH BEAL NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 21. It marked Beal s third appearance of the season on the honor roll and fourth of her career. The previous week, Beal notched 15 second-half points, including eight of the Friars 11 points in OT to defeat URI, Beal shot 4-9 from the field, hit 7-9 free-throws and added four assists and three boards. FRIARS GRAB 48 BOARDS VS. URI... In the Friars overtime victory against Rhode Island on Dec. 20, the team hauled in a season-high 48 rebounds. It marks the most rebounds in a single game for the team since the season opener vs. UMass Lowell (Nov. 9, 2013). On that day, the Friars tied the program s single-game rebounding record, with 65 boards. FRIARS EARN FIRST ROAD VICTORY SINCE JAN. 23, Providence earned its first road victory of the season on Dec. 20 at Rhode Island (64-55, OT). It also marked the first road win for the program since Jan. 23, 2015 when it defeated Marquette, 66-58, in Milwaukee, Wis. Prior to the victory vs. URI on Dec. 20, the Friars had lost eight-consecutive road games. ALIYAH MILLER NOTCHES FIRST CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE VS. RHODE ISLAND... Junior forward Aliyah Miller (Southaven, Miss.) tallied her first career double-double in the Friars victory over Rhode Island on Dec. 20. Miller scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high 13 boards to achieve the feat. Miller and Sarah Beal (two) are the only Friars to record double-doubles this season for Providence. FRIARS RACK UP 88 POINTS VS. BRYANT... Providence defeated Bryant, 88-78, on Dec. 9 in Providence, R.I. It marks the most points in a single game for PC since Nov. 12, 2013 when it defeated Bryant SARAH BEAL SETS PROGRAM S SINGLE-GAME STEALS RECORD... On Dec. 9 vs. Bryant, junior guard Sarah Beal collected 10 steals to set the Friars single-game steals record, previously held by Helen Jessie-Mency 91. Mency collected nine steals vs. Pitt on Feb. 5, For some perspective - Mency set the previous mark for steals in a game four years before Beal was born (1995). MOST STEALS BY A BIG EAST PLAYER SINCE Sarah Beal s 10 steals on Dec. 9

4 vs. Bryant are the most by a BIG EAST Conference player since Andrell Smith (USF) recorded 12 on Dec. 22, 2012 vs. Creighton. DOUBLE-DOUBLE... In addition to setting the single game steals record at Providence, with 10 thefts, Beal also recorded 23 points vs. Bryant on Dec. 9 for her first double-double of the season. It marks the first points/steals double-double by a BIG EAST player since Dec. 22, 2012 when Andrell Smith (USF) recorded 27 points and 12 steals vs. Creighton. Beal notched her first double-double on Jan. 28, 2014 vs. Butler with 13 points and 13 assists. DOUBLE-TROUBLE... Sarah Beal notched her second double-double of the season in the Friars game vs. Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 12. Beal posted 12 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. Beal owns three double-doubles in her career and they all have come in different ways. On Jan. 28, 2014, she recorded 13 points and 13 assists vs. Butler. On Dec. 9, 2015, Beal posted 23 points and 10 steals vs. Bryant, followed by her 12 point/12 rebound performance vs. FGCU (Dec. 12). THREE FRIARS NOTCH 20-POINT GAMES VS. BRYANT... Sarah Beal (23pts), Jovana Yoyo Nogic (23pts) and Aliyah Miller (20pts) all reached the 20-point plateau vs. Bryant on Dec. 9. It marked the first time that the Friars have three 20+ point scorers in the same game since Nov. 9, 2013 in a victory at UMass Lowell. In that game, former Friars Alexis Harris (31pts) and Tori Rule (23pts) joined current junior guard Sarah Beal (20pts) to achieve the feat. 20-SOMETHING... Sarah Beal and Jovana Yoyo Nogic lead the Friars this season in 20-point games, with two each. Beal tallied 21 points vs. Monmouth (Nov. 28) and a season-high 23 points vs. Bryant (Dec. 9). Beal owns seven, 20+ point games in her career. Nogic dropped 20 points vs. Hartford (Nov. 25) and a career-best 23 points vs. Bryant (Dec. 9) in her rookie season. Aliyah Miller netted a career-high 20 points on Dec. 9 vs. Bryant, marking the first 20-point game of her career. LONG DISTANCE... Jovana Yoyo Nogic s six three-pointers vs. Hartford (Nov. 25) are the second most makes in a single game by a BIG EAST player. Sydney Buck (Butler) hit seven triples vs. UCF on Nov. 29. Buck s teammate Blaire Langlois also hit seven three-pointers vs. Ball State on Dec. 6. HOME SWEET HOME... Providence has earned three of its four victories this season at home in Alumni Hall. The Friars are 3-5 overall this season on their home court. LARGEST MARGIN OF VICTORY FOR FRIARS SINCE With its 19-point victory over Hartford on Nov. 25 (69-50), Providence posted its largest margin of victory since Nov. 20, Ironically, the Friars opponent that day also was Hartford, and Providence earned a win (+26). FRIARS POST HIGHEST SHOOTING PERCENTAGE FROM THE FIELD SINCE On Nov. 25, the Friars shot 57.5-percent from the field vs. Hartford (23-40). It marked the highest field-goal percentage in a single game since Nov. 28, 2006 vs. New Hampshire (59.6-percent, 31-52). INTERNATIONAL FLAIR... The Friars have four international players on their roster this season, including senior Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland), sophomore Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy), freshman Clara Che (Barcelona, Spain) and freshman Jovana Yoyo Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal). Each of the four players have competed in FIBA-sponsored events during their international careers, including three of the four players this past summer. Nogic played for Serbia [was born in Belgrade] in the FIBA U19 World Championships and FIBA U18 European Championships. Che represented Spain, who won the gold medal at the U18 European Championships. Botteghi competed for Italy at the FIBA U20 European Championships. BEAL NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM... Despite limited action in , junior Sarah Beal was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team for the second-straight season. Prior to her sophomore campaign, Beal was an honorable mention pick. Beal concluded her rookie season [ ] with the Friars as a BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection. Beal is the only current member of the team to have earned preseason or post-season honors from the BIG EAST. EVI IISKOLA AND ALIYAH MILLER NAMED TEAM CAPTAINS... Senior Evi Iiskola and junior Aliyah Miller were selected to serve as team captains this season. Iiskola assumes the leadership role for the second-consecutive year, while Miller is a first-time captain. NATIONAL EXPOSURE... The Friars have three nationally-televised games this season, while 17 others are scheduled for broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports GO. Providence will play Marquette (Jan. 22) and Xavier (Feb. 5) on FS1 (FOX Sports 1). The Friars will host Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 12 in a game scheduled for broadcast on FS2 (FOX Sports 2). The Friars season opener vs. Boston College on Nov. 13 will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network, in addition to the 16 BIG EAST regular-season games that are not scheduled for national television on FS1 or FS2. The Friars are 1-4 this season in road games. Prior to the Friars overtime victory against Rhode Island on Dec. 20 of this season, Providence has not won a game on the road since Jan. 23, On that day, the Friars clipped Marquette, 66-58, in Milwaukee, Wis. ALISON LEWIS LEAVES PROGRAM... Sophomore guard Alison Lewis has requested her release from the program, and will look to transfer for the second semester. As a freshman, Lewis played 18 games and appeared in the starting line-up three times and averaged 7.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. This season, Lewis appeared in all nine games off the bench and averaged 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds. WHO S UP NEXT... The Friars return home to Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium to host back-to-back BIG EAST regular-season games vs. Butler on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. and Xavier on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports GO. WIRE-TO-WIRE... The Friars led their game vs. Hartford wire-to-wire on Nov. 25 to take a victory. Providence last won wire-to-wire in its regular-season finale vs. Georgetown on March 1, 2014 (81-66). EIGHT OF 11 PLAYERS ON THE ROSTER ARE UNDERCLASSMEN... Providence has a youthful look in , as eight of its 11 players are freshmen or sophomores. The freshmen are the largest class, which is comprised of five players and there are three members in the sophomore class. The Friars have just one senior (Evi Iiskola) and two juniors (Sarah Beal and Aliyah Miller).

7 HEAD COACH FOURTH SEASON ALMA MATER PENN STATE 92 Susan Robinson Fruchtl was named the ninth women s basketball coach in program history at Providence College on April 9, She will embark on her fourth year with the program during the season. During her time at Providence, she has mentored two All-BIG EAST selections in former point guard Symone Roberts 13 and forward Alexis Harris 15. Roberts and Harris each earned recognition on the Second Team in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Current junior point guard Sarah Beal, who was one of Robinson Fruchtl s first recruits at Providence, was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team in 2014 and has earned recognition on the league s Preseason All-BIG EAST Team in back-to-back seasons. She also has mentored eight BIG EAST All-Academic Team members, who have been honored for their work in the classroom a total of 11 times. Heading into the campaign, Robinson Fruchtl has a team comprised of 12 players, including one senior, two juniors, four sophomores and five freshmen. The lone senior is guard/forward Evi Iiskola, who came to Providence College at Robinson Fruchtl s first recruit. Additionally, the team features four international players, including Iiskola (Finland), junior guard/forward Allegra Botteghi (Italy) and freshmen guards Jovana Yoyo Nogic (Serbia/ Portugal) and Clara Che (Spain). Each of these players has competed in FIBA-sponsored events for their respective countries. During the summer of 2015, Che and Spain won the gold medal at the U-18 FIBA European Championships. Nogic competed for Serbia in the U-19 FIBA World Championships and the U-18 European Championships, and Botteghi represented Italy in the U-20 European Championships. Robinson Fruchtl came to Providence College after spending the previous five seasons at Saint Francis University (Pa.) from She guided the Red Flash to three-consecutive Northeast Conference Championship Games, captured two conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and She garnered Northeast Conference Coach of the Year honors at the completion of the 2011 campaign after leading Saint Francis to a overall record and a 14-4 mark in the NEC. That same year, the Red Flash won the NEC regular-season title and the tournament title. The team s 22 victories in 2011 are tied for third-most in program history. During Robinson Fruchtl s tenure, a member of the Red Flash earned All-NEC honors six times and two others were selected to the NEC All-Rookie Team. Robinson Fruchtl spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Penn State University ( , ). The 1992 Penn State graduate helped guide her alma mater to a record (.660) during her eight seasons on the sidelines, including four, 20-win seasons. A former All-America selection and Penn State s only recipient of the Wade Trophy, which is presented annually to the best women s college basketball player in NCAA Division I, Robinson Fruchtl rejoined the Penn State staff in May of 2004 after serving as an assistant from 1993 to During her time at Penn State, she worked primarily with post players and assisted with the recruitment of student-athletes. It was under her guidance that former Nittany Lion Amanda Brown became a third-round selection in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. After leaving Penn State in 1998, Robinson Fruchtl enrolled at Slippery Rock University to pursue her Master s degree in secondary guidance. During that time she served as a volunteer assistant from for the North Allegheny girls basketball team. Robinson Fruchtl also has a Master s in higher education, which she earned from PSU in In June of 2000, she took over as the head girls basketball coach at Beaver Area High School, where she also worked as one of the school s guidance counselors. She helped revive the basketball program, and led the Cats to the PIAA Class AAA Playoffs in each of her final two seasons. Then known as Susan Robinson, she graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in exercise and sports science in 1992 and was married to Tony Fruchtl in Robinson Fruchtl is one of only two players in Penn State history to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and was the program s alltime leading scorer with 2,253 points until she was passed by Kelly Mazzante in In 1992, the same season she won the Wade Trophy, she was named a consensus All-American and earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. As a rookie in 1989, she was named Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year. Twice she was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference team, and in 1991, she was tabbed Player of the Year. The Center Point, West Virginia native served as captain of the PSU squad that compiled a 29-2 record and a No. 1 National ranking in the final AP poll of the regular season.
