The Providence College women s basketball team will host the University of Vermont on Wednesday, November 14, The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I., and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. TUNE IN... The Providence College women's basketball game vs. Vermont will be broadcast live via the Friars' athletic web site at The broadcast will include live streaming video, and play-by-play will be provided by Chris Fama. The pre-game broadcast kicks off at 6:50 p.m. and play-by-play begins at 7 p.m. FRIARS VS. THE CATAMOUNTS ALL-TIME... Providence and Vermont have met four times during the history of the two women's basketball programs. Vermont leads the all-time series, 3-1, including victories in each of the last three meetings. The Friars are 1-1 vs. Vermont all-time at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars earned an victory over the Catamounts to open the series on February 7, 1979, but fell by a score of in the most recent meeting between the two teams on December 21, A LOOK AT THE CATAMOUNTS... Vermont was picked to finish fourth (with New Hampshire) in the America East Preseason Poll. It's the highest preseason ranking for UVM under Head Coach Lori Gear, who is in her third season at the helm. Through two games this season, the Catamounts are 1-1 overall. Kayla Burchill leads the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game, while Shanai Heber is averaging a team-best 9.0 rebounds per contest. VERMONT A SEASON AGO... Vermont posted a record last season, including a 4-12 mark in the America East. Tierra Shumpert, Niki Taylor and Shanai Heber are expected to lead the Catamounts. Shumpert averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds and connected on 39 three-point buckets in She was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. Taylor averaged 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds, while Heber recorded 6.9 points and 8.5 boards per game to go along with 110 assists and 67 steals. PROVIDENCE FALLS TO DREXEL IN SEASON OPENER... The Friars opened the season with a loss to Drexel University on November 9. The Friars turned the ball over 15 times, which Drexel converted into 18 points. Providence held a advantage in rebounding, and scored 22 of its 50 points in the paint. The Friars also shot a higher percentage than Drexel, having connected on attempts from the field (.438), including in the second half (.522). ROBERTS PACES THE FRIARS IN HOME OPENER... Senior forward Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) recorded a careerhigh 10 rebounds vs. Drexel on November 9. Edwards' previous career high in rebounding was eight, which she set against DePaul on January 7, Edwards also narrowly missed a double-double in the Friars' season opener vs. the Dragons as she also tallied eight points. Edwards hit 4-10 attempts from the field and added one assist and one steal. LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE... Providence's guards were held without an assist in the season opener vs. Drexel on November 9. Of the Friars' five assists in the game, each were recorded by a forward. Sophomore Chanise Baldwin (Pontiac, Mich.) matched her career-high with two hand-outs, while freshman Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) also recorded two assists in her first collegiate game. Senior Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) registered the Friars' remaining assist in the game. IISKOLA MAKES COLLEGIATE DEBUT... Freshmen Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) made her collegiate debut with the Friars against Drexel on November 9. She was a member of the starting line-up, played 37 minutes and collected seven points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. She scored five of her seven points in final the 3:37 of the game. She shot 3-5 from the field and hit her only free-throw attempt (1-1). BALDWIN POSTS CAREER-HIGH SEVEN BOARDS VS. DREXEL... Sophomore Chanise Baldwin (Pontiac, Mich.) played just 21 minutes against Drexel on November 9, but recorded a career-high seven rebounds and matched her career highs in assists (two) and steals (one). GRAND RE-OPENING OF ALUMNI HALL... The College held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand re-opening of Alumni Hall/ Mullaney Gymnasium at halftime of the Friars' game against Drexel on November 9. The facility underwent a massive renovation, which was completed in October The renovation included a new scoreboard and the installation of video boards, a control room, ceiling, new seating in the upper and lower arena, air conditioning and upgraded amenities for television and media. FRIARS VS. RIC IN EXHIBITION ACTION... On Saturday, November 3, Providence defeated local NCAA Division III opponent Rhode Island College, 83-37, at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Senior forward Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) paced the Friars with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) and sophomore Tori Rule (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored 18 and 12 points, respectively. SIX OF NINE FRIARS SHOOT 45-PERCENT OR BETTER FROM THE FLOOR VS. RIC... Six of the nine players who saw action against Rhode Island College shot 45-percent or better from the floor, including five players at better than 50-percent. Seniors Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) led the way in field-goal percentage. Edwards shot from the field (.733), while Roberts posted a.667 shooting percentage (6-9). WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - 3

Senior Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) posted a double-double against Rhode Island College with 26 points and 13 rebounds. In official regular-season play, Edwards' career-best totals are 11 points (vs. Hofstra 11/22/10) and eight rebounds ( vs. DePaul 1/7/12). DOMINANT EFFORT ON THE BOARDS... The Friars out-rebounded Rhode Island College, 52-26, in exhibition action on November 3. Senior Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) and sophomore Chanise Baldwin (Pontiac, Mich.) combined for 23 of the Friars' 52 boards. Edwards hauled in a teambest 13 boards, including seven offensive rebounds. Baldwin collected 10 rebounds - five on each end. Each of the nine players who saw action registered at least one rebound. Six of nine players posted 4+ rebounds. WHAT'S NEXT... Providence will hit the road for back-to-back road games vs. Virginia and Delaware. 5 nament in 2010 and In 2011, Robinson Fruchtl was named NEC Coach of the Year. She also served as an assistant coach at Penn State for seven seasons ( , ). A 1992 graduate of Penn State, Robinson Fruchtl enjoyed a stellar playing career with the Lady Lions. She was a consensus All-American and became Penn State's only Wade Trophy winner in 1992, as the nations' top player. FAMILIAR FACES... The Friars return six players from the roster, including two seniors, one junior and three sophomores. Providence's most experienced player is senior guard Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.), who has played 88 games during her career with 51 appearances in the starting line-up (includes Drexel on 11/9). Four of the Friars' six returners saw some action in the starting line-up last season, led by Roberts, who started nine games. ROBERTS LEADS LIST OF RETURNERS... Senior Symone Roberts (New Britain, Conn.) finished the season third among her teammates in scoring (8.2 ppg) and assists (2.14 apg), first in steals (1.86 spg) and fourth in rebounding (3.2 rpg). She also led the Friars in free-throw percentage (.814, 48-59). to be part of the BIG EAST Game of the Week package on BETV. Check your local listings for availability. FRIARS ALL-ACCESS... Each game on the regular-season schedule will be broadcast live via the internet at com. All games will feature audio, including 10 games that will be accompanied by live streaming video coverage. The 10 games featuring live streaming video are: Drexel (11/9), Vermont (11/14), Akron (11/24), Arizona State (2/7), Rhode Island (12/22), Georgetown (1/5), Louisville (1/12), Villanova (1/23), St. John's (1/30) and USF (2/9). Long-time women's basketball broadcaster, Chris Fama, will be on the call. WOON 1240 AM... Five Providence women's basketball games will be broadcast locally on WOON 1240 AM: Hartford (12/1), St. John's (1/30), USF (2/9), Seton Hall (2/20) and Cincinnati (2/23). EDWARDS TOUGH ON THE 'O' BOARDS... Senior forward Brianna Edwards (Minneapolis, Minn.) recorded 81 rebounds last season (2.7 rpg). Of her 81 boards, 49 came off of the offensive glass. NEWCOMERS... Providence welcomes four newcomers to the roster this season in true-freshmen Lexi Sells (Attleboro, Mass.) and Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) and walk-ons Nikki Turcotte (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Jenna Roncarati (Cumberland, R.I.). Sells played at Bishop Feehan and was a top-100 prospect according to ESPN HoopGurlz. Iiskola has played most recently for Finland's National Team and U-18 National Team. RONCARATI NO STRANGER TO DIVISION I ATHLETICS... Jenna Roncarati (Cumberland, R.I.) joins the Friars for her first season of NCAA Division I women's basketball. Roncarati just finished an impressive four-year career with the Providence College women's soccer team, where she became the first Friar to earn All-BIG EAST honors in multiple seasons. She was tabbed an All-BIG EAST Third Team honoree in 2010 and This season (2012), she claimed All-BIG EAST Second- Team honors. As a freshman in 2009, Roncarati was selected to the All-Rookie Team. TELEVISION COVERAGE... The Friars will have four games televised this season while playing at home in Alumni Hall. Cox Sports is scheduled to carry two games for the Friars vs. Iona (11/28) and Marquette (2/26). SNY will carry the Friars' match-up against Connecticut on February 12, and Providence's game against Notre Dame on March 2 is scheduled WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - 5

6 MEET THE HEAD COACH HEAD COACH 1st SEASON ALMA MATER PENN STATE '92 Susan Robinson Fruchtl was named the ninth women's basketball coach in program history at Providence College on April 9, Robinson Fruchtl comes to Providence College after spending the last five seasons at Saint Francis University (Pa.) from She guided the Red Flash to three-consecutive Northeast Conference Championship Games, captured two conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and She garnered Northeast Conference Coach of the Year honors at the completion of the 2011 campaign after leading Saint Francis to a overall record and a 14-4 mark in the NEC. That same year, the Red Flash won the NEC regular-season title and the tournament title. The team's 22 victories in 2011 are tied for third-most in program history. During Robinson Fruchtl's tenure, a member of the Red Flash earned All-NEC honors six times and two others were selected to the NEC All-Rookie Team. Robinson Fruchtl spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Penn State University ( , ). The 1992 Penn State graduate helped guide her alma mater to a record (.660) during her eight seasons, including four, 20-win seasons. A former All-America selection and Penn State's only recipient of the Wade Trophy, which is presented annually to the best women's college basketball player in NCAA Division I, Robinson Fruchtl rejoined the Penn State staff in May of 2004 after serving as an assistant from 1993 to During her time at Penn State, she worked primarily with post players and assisted with the recruitment of student-athletes. It was under her guidance that former Nittany Lion Amanda Brown became a third-round selection in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. After leaving the Penn State in 1998, Robinson Fruchtl enrolled at Slippery Rock University to pursue her Master's degree in secondary guidance. During that time she served as a volunteer assistant from for the North Allegheny girls' basketball team. Robinson Fruchtl also has a Master's in higher education, which she earned from PSU in In June of 2000, she took over as the head girls' basketball coach at Beaver Area High School, where she also worked as one of the school's guidance counselors. She helped revive the basketball program, and led the Cats to the PIAA Class AAA Playoffs in each of her final two seasons. Then known as Susan Robinson, she graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in exercise and sports science in 1992 and was married to Tony Fruchtl in Robinson Fruchtl is one of only two players in Penn State history to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and was the program's all-time leading scorer with 2,253 points until she was passed by Kelly Mazzante in In 1992, the same season she won the Wade Trophy, she was named a consensus All-American and earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. As a rookie in 1989, she was named Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year. Twice she was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference team, and in 1991, she was tabbed Player of the Year. The Center Point, West Virginia native served as captain of the PSU squad that compiled a 29-2 record and a No. 1 National ranking in the final AP poll of the regular season. In 1990, Robinson Fruchtl was a member of the Junior National Team, and also played for the U.S. Select team that toured Europe. Also recorded three rebounds and a game-high four steals... Played 27 minutes against Rhode Island College on November 3 in an exhibition game... Scored 18 points on 6-9 shooting (.667), and was 6-7 from the free-throw line (.857)...
