The Providence College women s basketball team will host Bryant University on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. FRIARS ALL-ACCESS... Live streaming video of the Friars game against Bryant will be available online ( via Friars All-Access, which is a subscription service. Providence leads the all-time series vs. Bryant, 4-1. The first three meetings between the two teams were played in the 70s, and the programs agreed to renewed the series during the campaign, with the Friars earning a victory at Alumni Hall. Last season, Bryant exacted revenge on the Friars with a victory vs. PC on Nov. 30 in Smithfield, R.I. ALL-TIME VS. BRYANT AT ALUMNI HALL... Providence is 3-0 all-time vs. Bryant University on its home court at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. FORMER FRIAR GREATS LEADING THE BULLDOGS... Bryant Head Coach Mary Burke is a 1987 graduate of Providence College. A threetime BIG EAST All-Conference selection, Burke was named a District I All-American as a senior. In her four years as a Friar, Burke helped lead her team to an record. During that time, she led the Providence squad to the BIG EAST Championship Game and a bid in the NCAA Tournament. Burke ranks fifth all-time at Providence in scoring (1,672 points) and ninth all-time in rebounding (740). Associate Head Coach Britt King is a former teammate of Burke s at Providence. King closed her PC career as the program s all-time leading rebounder with 1,205 boards and is one of just three players in program history to record 1,000-career points and 1,000-career rebounds. During her time in Providence, she earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors in , All-BIG EAST Second Team recognition in , BIG EAST All-Tournament honors (1986) and was a 1985 KODAK District I All-American. 2 in addition to holding the records for boards in a single-season (398, ) and in a single game (22, vs. Pittsburgh). SCOUTING BRYANT... The Bulldogs enter Wednesday s game vs. Providence with a 2-5 overall record. Three players are carrying the load on the offensive end of the floor, led by Ivory Bailey (14.9 ppg). Tiersa Winder is second on the team in scoring (14.8 ppg), while Breanna Rucker is averaging a double-double in points (13.7 ppg) and rebounds (12.7 rpg). Rucker currently ranks eighth in NCAA Division I in rebounding, as of games played through Dec. 7. WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR... The Providence College women s basketball team fell to Bryant, 90-80, on Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I. Jenniqua Bailey scored 23 second-half points for Bryant on her way to a game-high 35, while Tiersa Winder chipped in 20 points. Tori Rule (Minneapolis, Minn.) tallied 20 points to lead the Friars. Bryant knocked down 8-of-16 attempts from three-point territory in the first half to take a lead at halftime. Providence shot well from the field overall in the half, checking in at a 55.2-percent clip (16-29), but could not combat Bryant s three-point assault. Rule led the Friars in the half with nine points. Breanna Rucker led three Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points. In the second half, Providence out-scored Bryant 41-38, but could not close the gap. The Bulldogs cooled off from three-point territory, but Bailey turned it on for Bryant, scoring 23 of her 35 points. Providence shot a season-high 57.4-percent from the floor in the loss (35-61), while Bryant checked in at 51.7-percent (31-60). Bryant won the battle on the boards, Twelve of the Bulldog s 36 boards came off of the offensive glass and converted 13 second-chance points. Three other players joined Rule in double figures, including Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.), Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) and Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.). Beal finished with 13 points and two assists. Iiskola netted 11 points, and Harris completed the day with 10 points and a team-high five rebounds. A complete boxscore is below. Aliyah Miller leads the team in scoring with an average of 11.2 points per game. Miller also leads the Friars in double-digit scoring games (five), including a current personal-best streak of three-consecutive, double-digit games. Prior to the current season, Miller reached double figures in just seven of the 47 games she appeared in. BEAL, MILLER AND NOGIC RANK AMONG THE TOP-25 IN THE BIG EAST IN SCORING... Aliyah Miller (11.6 ppg), Sarah Beal (11.3 ppg) and Jovana Yoyo Nogic (10.4 ppg) each rank within the top-25 in the BIG EAST in scoring. Miller leads the way in 17th place, followed by Beal (21st) and Nogic (24th). Nogic is one of seven freshmen highlighting a loaded rookie class inside the top-25. ROAD WOES... The Friars are 0-3 this season in road games. Providence has not won a game on the road since Jan. 23, On that day, the Friars clipped Marquette, 66-58, in Milwaukee, Wis. Since that day, the Friars have dropped eight-straight games on the road. NOGIC TIED FOR SECOND IN THE BIG EAST IN THREE-POINT PERCENTAGE... According to the most recent BIG EAST statistics, released Dec. 7, Jovana Yoyo Nogic ranks second in the BIG EAST in three-point field-goal percentage (.474, (18-38). She also ranks fourth in three-point field goals made per game (2.6). Nogic has hit at least one three-point bucket in each of the Friars seven games this season, including a season-best six triples vs. Hartford (6-9) on Nov. 25. MORE FROM DEEP... Jovana Yoyo Nogic s six three-point field goals vs. Hartford on Nov. 25 are the second most makes in a single game by a BIG EAST Conference player. Sydney Buck (Butler) hit seven triples vs. UCF on Nov. 29. FRIARS RANK THIRD IN BIG EAST IN THREE-POINT PERCENTAGE... Through seven games, Providence ranks third in the BIG EAST Conference in three-point percentage (.348), having converted 32-of-92 attempts from beyond the arc. BLOCK PARTY... Freshman Erica Meyer leads the Friars in blocked shots this season, with 15, and has swatted at least one shot in six of the Friars seven games. Meyer currently ranks third in the BIG EAST Conference in blocks per game (2.1 bpg). Meyer recorded a season-best four blocked shots vs. Richmond (Dec. 5) and has swatted 3+ shots in four of seven games. WIRE-TO-WIRE... The Friars led their game vs. Hartford wire-to-wire on Nov. 25 to take a victory. Providence last won wire-to-wire in its regular-season finale vs. Georgetown on March 1, 2014 (81-66).

4 LARGEST MARGIN OF VICTORY FOR FRIARS SINCE With its 19-point victory over Hartford on Nov. 25 (69-50), Providence posted its largest margin of victory since Nov. 20, Ironically, the Friars also defeated Hartford on that day, by a score of (+26). FRIARS POST HIGHEST SHOOTING PERCENTAGE FROM THE FIELD SINCE On Nov. 25, the Friars shot 57.5-percent from the field vs. Hartford (23-40). It marked the highest field-goal percentage in a single game since Nov. 28, 2006 vs. New Hampshire (59.6-percent, 31-52). HOME SWEET HOME... The Friars play five of their seven games during the month of December at home in Alumni Hall. Providence started the month at Albany (Dec. 1), but returned to Alumni for a three-game home-stand vs. Richmond (Dec. 5), Bryant (Dec. 9) and Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 12). The team will make the short drive to Kingston, R.I. to face URI on Dec. 20, before returning home to open BIG EAST Conference play vs. Seton Hall (Dec. 29) and St. John s (Dec. 31). RED HOT FROM BEYOND THE ARC... On Nov. 25, Providence shot 58.8-percent from three-point territory vs. Hartford (10-17). It marked the highest three-point field-goal percentage in a single game since Feb. 13, 2005 vs. Seton Hall (66.7-percent, 4-6). Additionally, it marked the highest three-point field-goal percentage in a game, with a minimum of 10 attempts, since Jan. 20, 2005 vs. Rutgers (70-percent, 7-10). NINE OF 12 PLAYERS ON THE ROSTER ARE UNDERCLASSMEN... Providence has a youthful look in , as nine of its 12 players are freshmen or sophomores. The freshmen are the largest class, which is comprised of five players and there are four members in the sophomore class. The Friars have just one senior (Evi Iiskola) and two juniors (Sarah Beal and Aliyah Miller). INTERNATIONAL FLAIR... The Friars have four international players on their roster this season, including senior Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland), sophomore Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy), freshman Clara Che (Barcelona, Spain) and freshman Jovana Yoyo Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal). Each of the four players have competed in FIBA-sponsored events during their international careers, including three of the four players this past summer. Nogic played for Serbia [was born in Belgrade] in the FIBA U19 World Championships and FIBA U18 European Championships. Che represented Spain, who won the gold medal at the U18 European Championships. Botteghi competed for Italy at the FIBA U20 European Championships. BEAL NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM... Despite limited action in , junior Sarah Beal was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team for the second-straight season. Prior to her sophomore campaign, Beal was an honorable mention pick. Beal concluded her rookie season [ ] with the Friars as a BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection. Beal is the only current member of the team to have earned preseason or post-season honors from the BIG EAST. EVI IISKOLA AND ALIYAH MILLER NAMED TEAM CAPTAINS... Senior Evi Iiskola and junior Aliyah Miller were selected to serve as team captains this season. Iiskola assumes the leadership role for the second-consecutive year, while Miller is a first-time captain. NATIONAL EXPOSURE... The Friars will have three nationally-televised games this season, while 17 others will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) via FOX Sports GO. Providence will play Marquette (Jan. 22) and Xavier (Feb. 5) on FS1 (FOX Sports 1). The Friars will host Florida Gulf Coast on Dec. 12 in a game scheduled for broadcast on FS2 (FOX Sports 2). The Friars season opener vs. Boston College on Nov. 13 will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network, in addition to the 16 BIG EAST regular-season games that are not scheduled for national television on FS1 or FS2. 7 HEAD COACH FOURTH SEASON ALMA MATER PENN STATE 92 Susan Robinson Fruchtl was named the ninth women s basketball coach in program history at Providence College on April 9, She will embark on her fourth year with the program during the season. During her time at Providence, she has mentored two All-BIG EAST selections in former point guard Symone Roberts 13 and forward Alexis Harris 15. Roberts and Harris each earned recognition on the Second Team in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Current junior point guard Sarah Beal, who was one of Robinson Fruchtl s first recruits at Providence, was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team in 2014 and has earned recognition on the league s Preseason All-BIG EAST Team in back-to-back seasons. She also has mentored eight BIG EAST All-Academic Team members, who have been honored for their work in the classroom a total of 11 times. Heading into the campaign, Robinson Fruchtl has a team comprised of 12 players, including one senior, two juniors, four sophomores and five freshmen. The lone senior is guard/forward Evi Iiskola, who came to Providence College at Robinson Fruchtl s first recruit. Additionally, the team features four international players, including Iiskola (Finland), junior guard/forward Allegra Botteghi (Italy) and freshmen guards Jovana Yoyo Nogic (Serbia/ Portugal) and Clara Che (Spain). Each of these players has competed in FIBA-sponsored events for their respective countries. During the summer of 2015, Che and Spain won the gold medal at the U-18 FIBA European Championships. Nogic competed for Serbia in the U-19 FIBA World Championships and the U-18 European Championships, and Botteghi represented Italy in the U-20 European Championships. Robinson Fruchtl came to Providence College after spending the previous five seasons at Saint Francis University (Pa.) from She guided the Red Flash to three-consecutive Northeast Conference Championship Games, captured two conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and She garnered Northeast Conference Coach of the Year honors at the completion of the 2011 campaign after leading Saint Francis to a overall record and a 14-4 mark in the NEC. That same year, the Red Flash won the NEC regular-season title and the tournament title. The team s 22 victories in 2011 are tied for third-most in program history. During Robinson Fruchtl s tenure, a member of the Red Flash earned All-NEC honors six times and two others were selected to the NEC All-Rookie Team. Robinson Fruchtl spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Penn State University ( , ). The 1992 Penn State graduate helped guide her alma mater to a record (.660) during her eight seasons on the sidelines, including four, 20-win seasons. A former All-America selection and Penn State s only recipient of the Wade Trophy, which is presented annually to the best women s college basketball player in NCAA Division I, Robinson Fruchtl rejoined the Penn State staff in May of 2004 after serving as an assistant from 1993 to During her time at Penn State, she worked primarily with post players and assisted with the recruitment of student-athletes. It was under her guidance that former Nittany Lion Amanda Brown became a third-round selection in the 2007 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. After leaving Penn State in 1998, Robinson Fruchtl enrolled at Slippery Rock University to pursue her Master s degree in secondary guidance. During that time she served as a volunteer assistant from for the North Allegheny girls basketball team. Robinson Fruchtl also has a Master s in higher education, which she earned from PSU in In June of 2000, she took over as the head girls basketball coach at Beaver Area High School, where she also worked as one of the school s guidance counselors. She helped revive the basketball program, and led the Cats to the PIAA Class AAA Playoffs in each of her final two seasons. Then known as Susan Robinson, she graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in exercise and sports science in 1992 and was married to Tony Fruchtl in Robinson Fruchtl is one of only two players in Penn State history to accumulate 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and was the program s alltime leading scorer with 2,253 points until she was passed by Kelly Mazzante in In 1992, the same season she won the Wade Trophy, she was named a consensus All-American and earned GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. As a rookie in 1989, she was named Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year. Twice she was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference team, and in 1991, she was tabbed Player of the Year. The Center Point, West Virginia native served as captain of the PSU squad that compiled a 29-2 record and a No. 1 National ranking in the final AP poll of the regular season.
