Students from several local school will be in attendance, creating one of the livelier atmospheres the Bobcats will play in all season. Tip is scheduled for noon. Texas State is coming off of a road sweep of Louisiana (56-53) and ULM (81-45). The Bobcats have won six of its last seven contests. Ti Aira Pitts turned in a career-best 19 points against the Warhawks. The senior forward also turned back four shots, matching her career best. Taeler Deer was the game-high scorer, tallying 22 points. Deer also posted eight assists and seven rebounds. Brooke Holle registered her fourth career 20-point outing, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. TXST VS. GSU The Bobcats lead the all-time series with the Panthers, 6-3, including an Bobcat victory in Atlanta earlier this season. Toshua Leavitt drilled a school-record 10 3-pointers and scored a career-high 34 points in the game. Taeler Deer dished out a Bobcat-record 14 assists in the win. 3 GAME NOTES LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BOBCATS The Bobcats improved to 18-8 (10-4 SBC) after defeating the ULM Warhawks (13-12, 8-5 SBC) by a score of inside the Fant Ewing Center in Monroe, La. on Feb. 17. Brooke Holle scored 21 points, her fourth career 20-point game and second in as many game, for the Bobcats. She converted 9-of-15 shot attempts, including 3-of-5 tries from behind the 3-point line. Holle grabbed 10 rebounds, giving the sophomore guard her second career double-double. Taeler Deer netted a team-high 22 points while dishing out eight assists and grabbing seven rebounds. Deer has totaled eight or more assists in 12 contests this season and leads the Sun Belt Conference with an average of 6.6 helpers per game. Senior forward Ti Aira Pitts tallied a career-high 19 points in the Bobcat victory. Pitts dominated in the paint as she took advantage of ULM s switching defense. She connected on 8-of-11 shot attempts and blocked four shots. TRACKING DEER Senior guard Taeler Deer has her name etched all over the Texas State women s basketball record books, earning a spot on five separate lists, not to mention being one of just three Bobcat women to ever amass more than 1,000 career points and 300 career assists. On Dec. 29, 2017, Deer became the 16th player in program history, and just the fifth player under head coach Zenarae Antoine to eclipse the 1,000-point milestone, joining: Ayriel Anderson, Ashley Azeh, Diamond Ford and Erin Peoples. Deer ranks no. 10 in program history in career points, netting 1,249 points. She is seventh on the all-time made 3-point list with 121 makes during her four seasons in the maroon and gold. She ranks second in program history, dishing out 388 assists throughout her career. She trails only Shelley Borton, who notched 595 assists from , on the career list. The 171 helpers she has handed out this season is the Texas State women s basketball single-season record, topping the mark set by Borton (161) during the campaign. Finally, Deer sits in the eighth spot for career steals with 169. FRONTCOURT PRODUCTION Senior forward Ericka May leads the Bobcats in rebounding, pulling down 8.0 misses per contest. She ranks fourth in the Sun Belt Conference in total rebounds and second in defensive rebounds at 5.8 per game. May has collected 46 rebounds in the last four Bobcat basketball games, including 37 on the defensive end of the floor. In total, the senior has pulled down double-figure rebounds in nine contests this season. Ti Aira Pitts is fourth in scoring for the Bobcats, tallying 8.8 points per contest, including a career-high 19 points at ULM. The senior forward also leads the team with 29 blocks this year. LEAVITT FOR THREE Toshua Leavitt holds nearly every Texas State 3-point record possible, including: makes in a game, season and career and attempts in a game and season. The first record she toppled was 3-point field goals made in a single game. She connected on 10 3-point field goals in the loss to Coastal Carolina on Dec. 31, 2017 and again in the win over Georgia State on Jan. 27, Her record setting performances matched Mari Sanchez s Sun Belt Conference record, who made 10 3-pointers on Feb. 23, She is the only NCAA women s basketball player to make at least 10 3-point attempts in multiple games this season. Against ULM on Jan. 18, 2018, she moved ahead of Sarah Wagner ( ) for most made 3-pointers in a career. As a junior, Leavitt has buried 230 career 3-pointers, the only TXST player on the men s or women s side to make at least 200 triples as a Bobcat. Leavitt has torched the nets for 113 made 3-pointers this season, establishing a new program record, besting Joyce Ekworomadu s mark of 82 triples during the season. She now sits two back from the Sun Belt record of 115 made 3-points set by Kortni Jones (Middle Tennessee) during the season. 9 SHORTHANDED BOBCATS DOWN ULM, (Feb. 17, 2018) MONROE, La. The Texas State women s basketball team (18-8, 11-4 SBC) earned the weekend sweep of the Pelican-state, beating ULM (4-21, 1-13 SBC), 81-45, inside the Fant Ewing Coliseum on Saturday afternoon. The victory gives the Bobcats 18 wins on the season, the most in the Coach Z era at Texas State. The last time the Bobcats won at least 18 games in a season was the campaign, a year that ended in an NIT berth. The way ULM switched every screen really opened some things up for us on the offensive end, head coach Zenarae Antoine said. We were able to take advantage of some mismatches on the inside with Ti Aira Pitts being matched up on guards. She has really established herself on the block, not only with her back to the basket but in the face up game. The Bobcats dominated the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a lead at the end of the first quarter. Pitts was the catalyst for the Texas State offense, scoring eight points in seven minutes of action in the first quarter. The senior forward would finish the game with a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Pitts also turned back four shots, matching her career-best effort. Despite the obvious size advantage possessed by ULM, Texas State owned the battle in the paint, outscoring ULM in the key. The Bobcats were able to outrebound the Warhawks by a count of and turned 18 offensive rebounds into 13 second chance points. ULM connected on 9-of-35 (25.7 percent) from the floor over the final 30 minutes of action. In the second quarter alone, TXST held ULM without a made field goal for nearly seven full minutes. The Warhawks committed 19 turnovers, which the Bobcats turned into 27 points. Brooke Holle continued her high level of play, pouring in 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Holle has reached the 20-point plateau four times this season, including both games of this road sweep. The sophomore guard also collected a team-high 10 rebounds, notching her second career double-double. For the second time this season, Taeler Deer nearly posted a triple-double. Deer led the team with 22 points and eight assists to go along with seven rebounds. The senior guard chipped in three steals in the win. Without Toshua Leavitt the Bobcats entered the weekend shorthanded. Leavitt s replacement in the starting lineup, Bailey Holle, suffered a minor injury during the first quarter and was unable to return. The bench was forced to step up. Zelor Massaquoi scored eight points and ripped down six rebounds to lead the Texas State bench mob. Dabrasia Baty played a season-high 31 minutes and dished out a career-high six assists. The Bobcats be back at home for the remainder of the regular season, starting with a Thursday afternoon clash with the Georgia State Panthers. The game will be Texas State s annual Kid s Game and will tip at noon. On Feb. 24 TXST will host Georgia Southern, tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. Finally, the Bobcats will close out the season with in-state rival UTA on March 3. The regular season finale will represent Senior Day for Texas State s five seniors.
