3 GAME NOTES LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BOBCATS Texas State was unable to contain a hot-shooting Texas Southern team as the Tigers shot 50.9 percent overall, including 52.0 percent in the second half, to defeat the Bobcats last Sunday (Nov. 20). Texas State was led by Toshua Leavitt s 11 points, including nine by way of three 3-pointers. Ti Aira Pitts went 3-of-4 from the field, including a 3-pointer, for her seven points. Ericka May and Amber Jones co-led the Bobcats on the boards with four each. GETTING DEFENSIVE Texas State ranks as the second-best defensive team in the Sun Belt Conference through games played Nov. 20. The Bobcats are holding their opponents to a 57.5 points per game, ranking behind only Georgia Southern s 54.5 for tops in the league. The Bobcat defense has been particularly good in the fourth quarter as they are limiting opponents to only points in the final stanza. Texas State has held two of its opponents (Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) to less than 22 percent from the field in the fourth quarter. 50 PERCENT POST SHOOTING Post players Ti Aira Pitts and Amber Jones are each making the most of their touches in the paint. LEAVITT FROM THREE Sophomore guard Toshua Leavitt made a career-high four 3-pointers in the Bobcats season opener at SMU (Nov. 11) and again in the win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Nov. 18). Her four triples against the Islanders aided in a career-high tying 16 points. Her fourth and final triple against TAMU-CC came with 2:03 to play, breaking a 50-all tie and pushing TXST ahead for good. Leavitt, who has made her first four career starts this season, is the Bobcats leading scorer at 11.3 points per game. She is shooting 11-of-31 from deep and 15-of-36 overall from the field. MAY S BOARDS Ericka May totaled 11 rebounds in each of Texas State s first two game of the season. She grabbed 11 defensive boards at SMU (Nov. 11) and followed that performance with eight defensive and three offensive rebounds against Incarnate Word (Nov. 15). She then pulled down a team-high nine boards in the win over TAMU-CC. May has led the Bobcats on the glass each game this season, in 27 of her 67 career games and has posted double-digit rebounds 15 times. APARI S OFFENSIVE OUTBURST Junior forward Whitney Apari turned in the offensive game of her career to lead the Bobcats past Incarnate Word (Nov. 15). Her final bucket came with 4:22 to play via a fast break layup and pushed the Bobcats ahead by 22 points. LEAVITT S HELPERS Point guard Toshua Leavitt has made the most of running the offense in her first four career starts.
