Diddle Arena. The game will also be WKU s final contest of the 2016 calendar year; the Lady Toppers have put together a 26-9 record (.743) since January 1 of this year. The Lady Toppers are coming off a victory over Ball State last Wednesday that saw WKU hold off a late rally from the Cardinals for the win. Florida Atlantic holds a 4-7 record and has dropped five of its last six outings, including a loss to Maryland-Eastern Shore in its last time out on Dec. 17. Florida Atlantic is led by 10.5 points per game from Sasha Cedeno, the lone Owl in double figures. Raven Doyle has pulled down a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game, and Julia Jenike has dished out 27 assists to lead the Owls. Florida Atlantic owns a +4.0 rebounding margin, but also averages 5.7 more turnovers per game than its opponents. WKU owns a 15-2 all-time record against the Owls and has won six in a row in the series dating back to Feb. 15, 2012, including an win in Boca Raton, Fla., last year. Following Friday s game, WKU will close out its five-game homestand with a visit from FIU on Sunday at 2 p.m. to conclude the opening weekend of C-USA play. The Lady Toppers have won both conference openers since joining C-USA prior to the season. Redshirt senior Kendall Noble eclipsed the 1,500-point mark with 11 points against Ball State on Dec. 21, becoming one of only 12 players in WKU history to reach that mark. Noble, with 1,504 points for her career, needs 102 to catch former teammate and All-American Alexis Govan for 11th place in the record book. WKU set a new NCAA record for fewest points allowed in a single half in women s basketball history and in men s basketball history in the shot clock era (since ) by holding Lipscomb to just two first-half points in the Dec. 15 matchup.

2 GAME NOTES NEW FACES, SAME GOAL WKU will mix seven new faces with eight returners in , including four freshmen and three transfers. Jaycee Coe will be eligible to play after sitting out last season, while Kyvin Goodin-Rogers will be eligible following the fall semester. Naomi Mayes will also be able to contribute immediately for the Lady Toppers as a junior college transfer. Malaka Frank, Whitney Creech, Sarah Price and Raneem Elgedawy make up the incoming freshman class for WKU and will be called upon immediately to bolster the roster. MR WKU play-by-play announcer Barry Williams called his 1,000th game with the Lady Toppers on Friday, Nov. 11, against Alabama A&M. Williams stands as one of the most veteran radio broadcasters in the nation and calls all home and away games for the Lady Toppers. KEEPING THE STREAK(S) GOING WKU has won 20 or more games in each of the last four seasons, the first time that the Lady Toppers have had such a streak since to WKU has also posted three consecutive seasons with a winning streak of 10 or more games. In , the Lady Toppers strung together 10 straight wins from Feb. 12 through March 22; in , WKU had two separate streaks of 14 and 12 games; and in , WKU won 14 consecutive games from Dec. 5-Jan. 28. The Lady Toppers are one of just nine programs in the nation with a 10-game winning streak in each of the last three seasons, joining perennial title contenders such as UConn, Maryland, Notre Dame and Baylor. CLARK-HEARD SECOND FASTEST TO 100 WKU WINS Michelle Clark-Heard captured her 100th victory as the head coach of the Lady Toppers in a victory at Louisiana Tech on March 5 last season, reaching the milestone in just her 130th game at the helm of the program. Only the legendary Paul Sanderford, WKU s all-time winningest coach, reached the mark more quickly, doing so in his 127th game with the team. By winning her 100th game, Clark- Heard also became just the 18th head coach in NCAA history to win 100 games in their first four years at the Division I level. Noble collected the first two tripledoubles in program history, as well as the first in the history of the C-USA Tournament last season, averaging 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists. 3 GAME NOTES UAB WKU leads 15-4 Won on Feb. 27, 2016 UTEP UTEP leads 2-1 Lost on Feb. 6, 2016 UTSA Series tied 1-1 Won on Feb. 4, 2016 NOBLE NAMED PRESEASON C-USA PLAYER OF THE YEAR Redshirt senior Kendall Noble was tabbed by C-USA coaches as the Preseason C-USA Player of the Year for Noble s selection marks the third time in Michelle Clark-Heard s five seasons with the program that the Lady Toppers have had the preseason conference player of the year. Former WKU All-Americans Chastity Gooch (Sun Belt, ) and Alexis Govan (C-USA, ) were the previous preseason players of the year under Clark- Heard s watch. THAT 80S SHOW WKU broke the 80-point barrier eight times in and have scored 80 or more points on at least seven occasions per season since Michelle Clark-Heard assumed control of the program in By winning all eight of the contests in which it hit 80 points last season, WKU also extended an impressive streak under Clark-Heard. The Lady Toppers have posted an undefeated 45-0 mark when scoring 80 or more since the season. DEFENDING DIDDLE WKU finished the season with a 14-1 mark at home and has posted a record inside the friendly confines of its home arena since Michelle Clark- Heard took over the program in The Lady Toppers had a 15-game home winning streak prior to falling against UTEP on Feb. 6 last season, a mark that was the ninth-longest streak in the nation at the time. HEADING TO FLORIDA FOR THANKSGIVING WKU will be one of eight teams competing in the 2016 Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla., from Nov The Lady Toppers will open the tournament against DePaul, who ranks No. 21 in both the preseason Associated Press and USA Today polls. The Blue Demons reached the Sweet 16 last season before falling to Oregon State. Following the matchup against De- Paul, WKU will face either Baylor or Kent State. The Lady Toppers share a bit of history with the Bears after pushing them to the brink as a No. 15 seed in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in 2014 before falling, Also competing in the tournament are 2016 national runner-up Syracuse and NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago in Ohio State and George Washington. APPROACHING (AND JOINING) THE 1,000-POINT CLUB Junior Tashia Brown became the 37th member of WKU s 1,000-point club against Austin Peay on Dec. 3 and redshirt senior Micah Jones is seeking to become 38th member during the season. Redshirt senior Kendall Noble became the 36th member of the club during her Player of the Year campaign last season. TASHIA BROWN #10 Forward 6-1 Junior WKU IN IN-SEASON TOURNAMENTS UNDER CLARK-HEARD Under Michelle Clark-Heard, the Lady Toppers have posted a 12-3 record in inseason tournaments and have claimed the championship in four of the six tournaments in which they have competed. Last season, WKU powered past George Mason and host Alaska-Anchorage to capture the 2015 GCI Great Alaska Shootout. In previous seasons under Clark- Heard, the Lady Toppers have won the Wright State Invitational ( ), the Puerto Rico Classic ( ) and the Hofstra Thanksgiving Tournament ( ). WKU also reached the final of the Preseason WNIT before falling at Mississippi State. WKU LEADING THE WAY AS ELITE WOMEN S BASKETBALL PROGRAM IN THE REGION Western Kentucky University has separted itself as the premier women's basketball program in the region. Among four area powers, WKU leads in all-time wins, Sweet 16 appearances, Final Four appearances and all-time postseason wins. 4 GAME NOTES TRIO OF NEW SIGNEES WKU has inked three players as part of its Class of 2021, signing Nichel Tampa, Terri Smith and Sherry Porter to NLIs. All three players are dynamic guards who are capable of both scoring and directing the offense as floor generals. Clark-Heard has praised the trio s versatility and ability to play multiple spots on the floor as well as their competitive nature coming from winning high school programs. One of the top-ranked point guards in her class, Tampa has led St. Francis to consecutive Class A private school state championships as a sophomore and junior in 2015 and Overall, she led her team to an impressive 84-9 record since the season. In her junior season, Tampa averaged nine points and 4.8 assists per game playing for the Knights under Head Coach Aisha Kennedy. A highly decorated guard under Head Coach Patrick Delay, Smith earned an honorable mention nod as a sophomore on the All Tennessee Valley girls basketball team before receiving Third Team All-Huntsville Region honors as a junior last season, averaging 12.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Over the last two seasons with the Chargers, Porter has helped the team to a combined record and back-to-back regional appearances in the LHSAA State Tournament, the first coming at the 1A level before Madison Prep made the leap to 2A last season. Porter captured Second Team 1A All-State honors as a sophomore following a season that saw her average 21 points, 3.5 steals and three rebounds. WKU had previously hit that mark two times: vs. Lamar on Jan. 20, 1996, and vs. Middle Tennessee on March 11, Individually, Jaycee Coe made her presence felt by knocking down four three-pointers in her debut for WKU. GETTING A STEAL With two steals at Eastern Kentucky, Kendall Noble became the program s alltime leader in steals with 299 for her career, surpassing the legendary Clemette Haskins in the category. Noble owns the top two single-season marks in program history for steals with 105 in and 90 in and has earned C-USA Defensive Player of the Year in each season. STRONG AFTER LOSSES WKU bounced back from its loss to Louisville with an win over Lipscomb on Thursday. In games immediately following a loss since Michelle Clark- Heard took over in , the Lady Toppers are 30-6 and have not suffered consecutive losses since Nov. 23 and 25, 2014 (at Mississippi State and Louisville). WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU? Junior Tashia Brown earned recognition from both C-USA and the NCAA following her 28-point outburst against Indiana. Brown tallied 15 points in the fourth quarter, setting a new program record for most points scored by a single player in one quarter. For her efforts, Brown was named the C-USA Player of the Week for the first time in her career and was also honored with a spot on the NCAA s weekly Starting Five list. TOPS ON TOP OF RANKED TEAMS For the second consecutive year, WKU took down a top-25 team inside Diddle Arena with its win over Indiana. That victory marks the first time since the campaign that the Lady Toppers have defeated at least one ranked team in back-to-back seasons. WORKING OVERTIME With a thrilling overtime victory over Kent State on Nov. 26, WKU earned its fifth consecutive victory in an overtime contest and moved to (.731) in such games in program history. The Lady Toppers have not lost after reaching overtime since Feb. 5, 2014, against Arkansas State. 5 BEFORE THE NEW YEAR... Since Michelle Clark-Heard took over the program, WKU has posted a record (.787) in games played prior to January 1, including a 27-4 mark (.871) in games played during the month of December. COMEBACK QUEENS With a 14-point comeback over Kent State, the Lady Toppers notched their largest come-from-behind victory since erasing a 16-point deficit to win against Georgetown on Dec. 21, Since the beginning of last season, WKU owns eight victories when trailing at the halftime break and four wins when down with five minutes to play in regulation. CHARITY WORKERS As a team, WKU is shooting 183-of- 233 (78.5 percent) from the free throw line this season, an improvement of nine percent from the season. Currently, WKU ranks ninth among all Division I teams in free-throw percentage this season. In addition, two of WKU s 10 best games in program history with at least 20 attempts from the charity stripe have occurred in The Lady Toppers posted identical 26-of-28 (92.9 percent) marks against Indiana and Kent State. FAST STARTS FOR FRESHMEN WKU has started a true freshman in at least five games in each of the last three seasons. Tashia Brown earned five starts in , Kayla Smith drew 31 starts in and Sarah Price has appeared in the starting lineup five times thus far in TOPPING 1,000 Junior Tashia Brown became the 37th member of WKU s 1,000-point club after 18 points at Austin Peay on Dec. 3. Brown joins teammate Kendall Noble and former All-Americans Chastity Gooch and Alexis Govan to join the club under Michelle Clark-Heard. Brown also accomplished the feat in just 76 games and averages 13.3 points per game for her career. GOODIN-ROGERS DEBUT Redshirt junior Kyvin Goodin-Rogers made her debut for the Lady Toppers at No. 8 Louisville and made an instant impact, immediately moving into the starting lineup and tallying eight points, four rebounds, a block and a steal in 27 minutes of action. The University of Kentucky transfer can not only play down in the post, but also stretch the defense as a three-point shooter after knocking down a pair of shots from deep against the Cardinals.

Brown set a new career-best with 17 rebounds against College of Charleston, her second game with 15 or more rebounds this season and tied for the most among any C-USA player in a single game in WKU AGAINST RANKED TEAMS IN WKU faced its third ranked team of the season at No. 8 Louisville after previously playing No. 23 Indiana and No. 18 DePaul. The Lady Toppers have not faced three or more ranked teams in a single season since battling against five such teams during the campaign. That season, the Lady Toppers had games against North Carolina (No. 3), George Washington (No. 17), Vanderbilt (No. 20), Notre Dame (No. 23) and UTEP (No. 23). REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS WKU broke the NCAA women s basketball record for fewest points allowed in a half by holding Lipscomb to just two firsthalf points on Dec. 15. The mark was also the fewest in men s basketball since the introduction of the shot clock. In addition, WKU had six players reach double figures for the first time since Jan. 21, 2009, in the victory, a stretch of nearly eight years. MISS BASKETBALL ON TOP Ivy Brown, Kentucky s 2014 Miss Basketball recipient, sits atop C-USA and ranks 19th in the nation among all players by making 59.6 percent (59-of-99) of her attempts from the field. That represents a huge leap from both her freshman (29.1 percent) and sophomore (48.3 percent) campaigns on The Hill. Brown also has the most total rebounds among C-USA players through 12 games, pulling down 109 boards (49 offensive, 60 defensive), and is WKU s top three-point shooter at 42.5 percent (17-of-40). 6

7 GAME NOTES HC MICHELLE CLARK-HEARD Fifth Season What Michelle Clark-Heard has done is instilled pride back in Western Kentucky... Now with Michelle Clark-Heard, with the passion and pride she has, because she was a player at Western Kentucky, she is bringing that back to Bowling Green. -ESPN Analyst Carolyn Peck Michelle Clark-Heard has quickly shaped the Western Kentucky University Lady Topper Basketball program back into a national name, putting the Lady Toppers back on the national map. In just three seasons at WKU as head coach, Clark-Heard has reached two NCAA Tournaments, won two conference tournament championships and a regular season conference title while posting 76 wins, the most in a coaches first three seasons in WKU women s basketball or men s basketball history. Clark-Heard s third season directing her alma mater in was one of the best the storied program has seen. She led the Lady Toppers to a 30-5 record, posting a Conference USA record 30 wins in the program s first season as a league member. The season began with the Lady Toppers making huge waves early by reaching the finals of the Preseason Women s NIT with wins at Colorado and over eventual American East Conference champion Albany before a loss on the road at Mississippi State. WKU also posted non-conference wins over Hofstra, Tulane and Ole Miss. The Lady Toppers made an immediate impact in Conference USA, posting a 16-2 record to tie the league mark for league wins in a season, including eight wins on the road, to secure the program s first regular season league title as a Conference USA member and 11th in program history. In early January, she led the Lady Toppers to the Associated Press Top 25 Rankings for the first time since the season. She also became just the 10th coach in NCAA history to lead their alma mater into the Associated Press Top 25 rankings as both a player and coach when the Lady Toppers were ranked for two weeks in January The Lady Toppers then won three games in three days by a combined eight points to secure a tournament title at the Conference USA Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Following the season, Clark-Heard was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments, earning Conference USA Coach of the Year and 2015 United States Marine Corps/ WBCA NCAA Division I Regional Coach of the Year. honors. Her selection as a WBCA Regional Coach of the Year also made her a finalist for the Pat Summitt Trophy, awarded annually to the 2015 United States Marine Corps/WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year. Her success at WKU has also helped her land new opportunities in the USA Basketball ranks. Clark-Heard was named an assistant coach for the 2015 U.S. Pan American Women s Basketball Team, joining head coach Lisa Bluder of the University of Iowa and fellow assistant coach Scott Rueck of Oregon State University on the 2015 staff. In Toronto, Clark-Heard helped lead the United States to a silver medal in her international assistant coaching debut, falling just short in the gold medal game against the host Canadians. In , Clark-Heard helped WKU win its final seven regular season games before reeling off three straight in New Orleans, La. in March 2014 to win the Sun Belt Conference Championships with a win over Arkansas State after WKU faced a 14-point deficit in the second half. The season also saw WKU defeat Georgetown in the Puerto Rico Classic after facing a 16-point deficit in the second half. The season was capped by a loss to fifth-ranked Baylor in Waco, Texas in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, ending the longest NCAA Tournament appearance drought in program history. The run to the tournament helped WKU secure a 24-9 record and finish with 20-wins for the second straight season. Her consecutive 20-win seasons to begin her time at WKU marked the first time in Sun Belt Conference history that a team had won 20 games in back-to-back years following a season in which it had won less than 10 games. Her success in followed a massive improvement on the floor in In her first year as a Division One coach in , Clark-Heard helped WKU to a 13-win improvement over the season output. It was the largest in Sun Belt Conference history as WKU turned a 9-21 mark into a record. WKU s eight win improvement in conference play from five wins to 13 wins was tied for the largest in league history. The Lady Toppers also became the first team in Sun Belt Conference history to win 20 games in the season following a year in which the team won less than 10 games earlier this season. Her first season at WKU also showcased her ability to develop players. The duo of Chastity Gooch and Alexis Govan averaged a combined 12.7 ppg in but posted 36.5 per outing in The duo combined for 1,203 points after posting 381 last season. The team also saw major improvement in nearly all statistical categories, including improving free throw shooting by over 11 percent to.739, the third highest mark in school history. Clark-Heard spent five years as an assistant coach to Jeff Walz at Louisville. During her time with the program, the Cardinals made three Sweet 16 appearances and made their first Final Four appearance, finishing as the National Runner-Up in A roster she helped build also reached the Final Four in 2013 after beating No. 1 Baylor and national power Tennessee in the regional semifinals and finals. Clark-Heard was instrumental in bringing in the No. 12 recruiting class in 2008, then followed with three consecutive Top 10 classes in 2009, 2010 and The 2010 recruiting class was the highest ranked class in school history, ranked fifth in the nation. Among the most notable players Clark-Heard coached at Louisville was overall number one pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft, Angel McCoughtry and overall number eight pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Shoni Shimmel. Overall, she coached five players at Louisville that went on to be drafted in the WNBA Draft. Prior to her time at Louisville, Clark-Heard spent two seasons as the head coach at Kentucky State, taking the reigns of the program in June She took over a program that had won just one game during the season. In her first season she led the Thorobrettes to a 5-23 record, four of the wins were against Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents. Her team was picked to finish 11th in the SIAC but ended the season in ninth place. In her second season at KSU, she guided the Thorobrettes to an impressive 19-9 record, finishing tied for fourth place in the SIAC. Clark-Heard earned SIAC Coach-of-the-Year honors after the impressive turnaround. Her Thorobrettes were the second most improved team in NCAA Division II women s basketball during the season. Before being named head coach at Kentucky State, Clark- Heard spent three seasons at Cincinnati as an assistant and four years at Nebraska in the same role. The Bearcats advanced to postseason play in two of her three seasons there while she helped Nebraska reach the NCAA Tournament twice during her time with the team. She was also responsible for helping sign McDonald s All-American Janice Bright for the Cornhuskers in 2001 while coaching alongside current Louisville coach Jeff Walz and under former WKU coach Paul Sanderford. A four-year letterwinner on the Hill ( ), Clark-Heard was part of four NCAA Tournament teams during her Lady Topper career. She also helped guide the Lady Toppers to a pair of Sun Belt Conference Tournament championships (1988 and 1989) and two conference regular-season titles (1989 and 1990). She played in 118 games during her four years in the Hill, scoring 790 points and pulling down 615 rebounds. WKU amassed 89 victories during her four years in uniform, winning 70 percent of the games over that span and putting together three 20-win seasons. Upon graduation from WKU, she spent eight years working within a recreational setting, five in Bowling Green and three with the Louisville Metro Parks Department. While in Louisville, she also served as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at DuPont Manual High School for the seasons and played professionally with the Kentucky Marauders of the Women s Basketball Association in The Louisville native earned Kentucky High School State Player of the Year honors in 1986 while playing at Atherton High School and was inducted into the Atherton Hall of Fame in She was married on August 16, 2003 to Luther Heard. Diddle Arena SUMMARY AND NOTABLES BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - WKU matched a program record by knocking down 13 three-pointers and scored its second-most points in the Michelle Clark-Heard era in a season-opening victory over Alabama A&M on Friday evening inside E.A. Diddle Arena. The Lady Toppers 13 three-pointers matched efforts against Lamar (Jan. 20, 1996) and Middle Tennessee (March 11, 2003) for the most in school history, and the 96 points were the most in a single game for WKU (1-0) since notching 98 against Troy on Jan. 30, Kendall Noble (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Tashia Brown (13 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles for WKU, and Ivy Brown finished with a game-high 20 points and nine boards. Diddle Arena on Wednesday evening. Despite leading for more than 37 minutes, the Lady Toppers (1-1) could not overcome a deficit in paint points and a 28-9 differential in points scored by bench players. Diddle Arena on Saturday afternoon in the 34th Annual BB&T Classic matchup. The Lady Toppers have now defeated a ranked opponent in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the and campaigns after dropping No. 16 Louisville inside Diddle last season. With her first steal of the night, Noble made WKU history as she passed the legendary Clemette Haskins atop the Lady Toppers all-time steals list. After registering two takeaways on Wednesday, Noble now has 287 for her career early in her final season. As a team, WKU shot 54 percent (34-of-63) from the field, nearly 20 percent better than Eastern Kentucky s 34.8 percent (23-of-66). Brown finished the afternoon with 9-of-15 shooting and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark on a layup at the 7:18 mark of the fourth quarter. Diddle Arena on Wednesday evening. Despite being outscored by 10 points in the third quarter, the Lady Toppers (8-4) never relinquished the lead in part due to strong three-point shooting (9-of-23, 39.1 percent) on the evening.
